  1. Millions of drivers in the UK will not do long trips driving. There are all sorts out there, just as well there are loads of choices in vehicles, class of vehicles, size and fuel used. Lots of very reasonable priced BEV,s about now and growing numbers of used ones. But that is not what this thread is about.
  2. Skoda don't sell it as a complete thing with motor, but as far as I can see, for RHD cars The motor is 5J2 955 113 A The main bit of the mechanism is 5J2 955 605 B Note the 3rd character is 2 for both of the above, not negotiable. The linkages are 5J0 955 325 for right hand side, 5J0 955 326 for left hand side (both as viewed from driving position).
  3. VW Group do seem to be right up there as far as the Smart Phone to BEV App issues. But then also the Connectivity issues with the latest of ICE vehicles. If everything in life was a reliable as Volkswagen Software the world war 3 would have started by now because of some computer errors.
  4. I actually found it in a Polo service manual i found here. But of course any additional insights are welcome.
  5. Hello, returning member, been a member since 2008 but ben away after I sold my Octavia Ambient in 2023. Now back and after a yellow Mk1 vrs. UK based.
  6. COP 30 had just finished with a very weak declaration as the Saudis and other oil producers would not even allow the word fossil for describing hydro carbons. It gas been. Increasingly obvious to nany of us that the transition to EVs and Geat Pumps has to simply be an economic choice rather than banning etc. Fortunately EVs are becoming cheaper and cheaper and more bass production of Heat Pump devices will bring prices to change down further. Heat pumps running from off peak electricity via LFP or Sodium batteries sound a good blend of tech. Interesting angle is EU protectionism by levying Countervailing duties on Chinese EVs to help protect their own EV industry that is struggling to compete.
  7. Just following the ship fire in Los Angeles as it is a hybrid vessel of mainly container holds but holds 1 and are for cars apparently. Locals told to keep windows closed. Hopefully all firefighters ok.
  8. But I do have a warning triangle in a box clipped inside the rear hatch.

Hi 👋 and welcome to Briskoda @Dode
  11. I sent my window controller off to BreezyPete on an exchange basis. His repaired one had my windows working again. I had my deposit paid to my account a few days after sending him my unit. Many thanks Pete.
  12. @Breezy_Pete fantastic help as ever 🙂
  13. The same here, it's the reason I bought the car with DCC and I ride around in comfort mode most of the time. I'm amazed so many people complain about the suspension as the car is a big boat and it would be a surprise if the suspension was set up differently.
  14. Don't know why I wrote 2.0 TSi, mine is a 1.5TSi. The Picasso was a 2.0 HDi.

Thank you. I’m looking forward to exploring all the information available.
  16. After my July software update and ACC stalk change I have full maps in both the main screen and the virtual dashboard in front of the driver. Need to cycle the options on the steering wheel button to view it. No physical dipstick on my 1.5 petrol engined PHEV but I see TrickleJohn has the diesel. 12 volt sockets stay live but not the USB-C Sockets. 1st service on Monday but no problems to report other than Laura whispering the Phone left in Car warning. She used to tell me loudly.
  17. Yeap, my son has a Audi A5 and it was his dream car and has so many things wrong with it, can't use his phone, sat nav, and so many other things because his phone app and the car are totally screwed up, been like it a year now it's the first week in Jan 2026 before they are able to look at it. Maybe he should stop paying the monthly lease on it? So glad my car is not considered one of the luxury cars from VW group, I still have switches for most of my controls👍
  18. I booked for 18th of Dec with Skoda Bristol. Will keep you posted.

  20. Glad you found the problem. Its surprising the fuses didnt blow before the wire/switch melted but thats car electrics for you. Well done for tracing it back Alasdair

It will just last longer not used it has more storage capacity. How does it compare on the cca stat which is cranking amps
  22. 1 point
Provided your current battery is an AGM, and the Ah capacity of both batteries is the same (or very similar) then you will not have any issues if you don't recode. The BMS will learn the new battery characteristics more slowly than if recoded but that's all.
  23. Thanks for the help my freind I did speak with him and he helped me alot I ended up finding a favorit 136 which us by far the easiest route to go and re used my 130 parts to convert it to rwd, then got a spare favorit engine e which I may take the crank out of to fit in a felicua engine to give me the injection option with sone gearbox fab! Failing thus if I get bored then be a twin cam of some sort, I do have a sweet toyota engibe thst I think would go very well in the estelle! Appreciate all the help 👌👍
  24. Thank @PetrolDave , I have spoken to a local retrofitter and he said you need VAS6350 + ODIS to reset it all to a Škoda and code it.
  25. There’s no strain in turning the engine on and off. It’s designed to do it, the electric system works in tandem with the ICE, if you alter that system from how it’s designed then it’s going to put forces into a gearbox it might not be designed to cope with. Driving tests and tutoring have advised not to use engine braking as a way to slow the car down for 20 years and more because that’s not how modern cars are best driven. Even manual cars, you’re best to stay in a higher gear, use the brakes until you’re nearly stopped then shift into first. There’s no way I’d want to risk damage or extra wear to a DSG box, they are insanely expensive to replace.
  26. My 71 plate Octavia estate SEL iV is going back at the end of January and I have to say I’ll miss its easy driving and large boot. And power too! I really wanted another Skoda but anything with an ICE is gonna be too expensive due to BIK tax and when I test drove the Elroq I was very underwhelmed. It want as smooth a drive on the suspension, the boot not that big and the interior is the same as my Octavia and it’s a much newer car model, I would expect them to update it as it lags behind other cars it competes with. So if anyone sees AJ71 LVP for sale, it has the optional black alloy wheels and LED pack and I’ve looked after it as well as I could, all serviced properly at Skoda!! Also if anyone wants a fancy Yakima roof bar system for their Octavia I will be selling mine soon, as well as a brand new set of mats I never used I think. Thanks to all on here for the last 4 years! On to another brand now.
  27. Thought I would update this for those who might be struggling with dipped beam issues. As the diagram shows, the power for dipped beam is separate, it is fed from the headlight switch to the fuse board. Before the fuse board it splits into two, and feeds fuses 50+54. From there the yellow for nearside, and black and yellow for offside run straight to the headlight connector, then to the H7 bulb connectors. My issue i believe (don't take my word for it) stemmed from an oil covered earth point behind the headlight beneath the fuel filter holder. This likely caused high resistance, melting the h7 first, then taking out the other dipped beam by finally heating up the switch terminal to the point it melted inside the switch.
  28. Workshop told me it was battery fault. Perhaps helped that it wasn't the first issue I had related to 12V, so they finally replaced the battery. FWIW after the battery was replaced I still had issues. No faults, but engine was starting up constantly for no reason. Then another tech in another workshop made full diagnostics and saw some voltage imbalances between different gateways, which led him to a solution. So I'd think if they investigate properly, they will find what caused faults with your gearbox. The problem is usually in workshops they just do quick error codes reading and if they see nothing, they say there's no issue.
  29. Michelin CrossClimate 3,s proving to be good on Snow & Icy Snow, cold and wet roads. The car is OK as well, getting 2.4-3.1 miles a kWh at below freezing temps and heating on.
  30. Yes totally normal. Often depends on type of work and types of data in use. There are legal and regulatory concerns depending on business. the methods chosen to manage those requirements vary from business to business. If you want some specific advice I can do it (this stuff is my day job) but from what you have written this is more of a DSE type assessment. Your employer has a requirement to provide you with equipment to do your job and (to a lesser or greater extent) it needs to be adaptable to your needs. so if you have conditions which make using a tablet difficult it is not unreasonable to ask your employer to consider an alternative (i.e. work laptop). You might want to speak to HR about it. It's no different then someone with a back problem asking for a better seat etc
  31. Hello, welcome to the forum. If travelling in heavy rail and the windscreen is fogging sufficiently to mask the interior camera, perhaps the driving conditions are not really suitable to be using cruise.
  32. Haven’t managed to get out with the camera since the Holy Island snaps. Had a quick trip to Limerick via Cairnryan-Belfast with the journey from hell. A couple of snaps from the trip. Followed by a day of cleaning the van which took a battering. Been working on the windows of our project, now finally finished off with shutters. Still loads of other stuff to do but motivation is lacking. We didn’t re-install the home cinema system as we were supposed to be going for a minimalist look. Though was tempted with a big stack of hifi separates and some floorstanders. Should all just about fit nicely in the bay window.. 🤣 Pick it up next week, still gotta tell the missus.. she’s only just got over the flying ducks and Union Jack chesterfield. 🤣
  33. Possibly not that one - I'd expect factory towbar prep to incorporate a multi-pin socket and a Can bus module, that loom is possibly tail light wiring or rear parking sensors.
  34. Picked up my new Kodiaq last week. I love this car!
  35. Personally I like the softer suspension set up, the Superb is a great car to be covering the miles so comfort is important to me. Mine was three years old last month, just coming up to 109,000 miles, no sagging suspension, it feels as good as new. A few cars ago I had a Passat CC with DCC, I preferred 'comfort' mode so that's what I used.
  36. Finally have received package from Tuning-Expert.com ordered Eibach Pro F11-85-043-02-FA front Eibach Pro F11-79-008-01-HA rear Bilstein B6 DampTronic 23-254343 front Bilstein B6 DampTronic 20-267537 rear, had to remove due out of stock ordered: 2021-08-12 shipped: 2021-12-17 arrive: 2022-01-06 installation: 2022-01-19
  37. Blocking the EGR will get the engine running but the ECU will detect the non functioning EGR. This will put the engine into reduced performance ( limp home ) mode. Looks like you either need one of these :- 11. EGR Diagnostic Simulator Plate for VW Audi Skoda Seat 2.0 TDI CR Euro 5 | eBay which will disable the EGR but fool the ECU into thinking it's still working. It still allows the DPF to continue function 100%. Or you will need a new EGR fitting.
  38. The Chinese cars are so well appointed and safe in the main brands. A few things I worry about like their real range ie less range buffer. But also as the EU investigation into state subsidies and the consequential countervailing duties mean that it is that China is involved in under mining the EU and possible UK EV production to eliminate that competition. Fortunately we have Korea doing its bit and maybe we will see Vietnam and other SE Asian countries to challenge Chinese dominance. Their historic 1 child policy can come back to bight them and India might also become more of a chalenge too.
  39. I have a dash-cam mirror with Parking Mode https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/495449-10-dash-camera-rearview-mirror-in-my-felicia/#findComment-5589624 unfortunately i had checked the 1 minute Loop option (battery preserve) so it didn't caught the whole incident. I check it today, suddenly the car is moving left-right like a boat in the waves (first hit) and after few minutes again (second hit) and then the video stops. In the next video shows front and right a taxi parked, today i saw the scratches on my car (back fender and the protective plastic arch) both are in yellow colour which is the colour of the taxi here. Scenario: The scumbag hit me, the alarm sounded and then put reverse, the driver came out check the damages and return to the taxi, he pass more carefully this time and parked front and right of my like ''nothing happened''. No witness so i can not prove anything.
