  1. Only the Forward Collision Warning sensitivity can be turned down (Low or Late, not sure which is the wording used by Skoda). This setting is saved between ignition cycles No. Stop with the engine running. AEB requests a deceleration, so with an automatic gearbox this implies the gearbox will downshift to match the vehicle speed. In a vehicle with manual gearbox, the signal for Brake/Deceleration Request from AEB might be used by the engine ECU as a "Torque cut-off" signal, to supress the engine trying to increase the speed, thus adding additional stress on the drivetrain* Most likely, yes. If vehicles use the same platform (Octavia and Golf), there might be small changes to each AEB configuration (tuning parameters), but don't expect major differences in behavior * Not sure if you read the manual, but there are ways to abort a wrong AEB intervention, either by pressing hard on the acceleratior pedal or by a sharp turn of the steering wheel (depends on the scenario, which option is more suitable).
  2. You've changed from an EFB battery to AGM. You really should get it coded as the charging requirements are a little different. If you can't do it yourself with VCDS, ObdEleven, Carscanner or similar there must be someone on here who's near Guildford and can help. Failing that do you have a friendly local independent garage/mechanic ? Anybody in the trade should be able to do it.

Our 1.2 TSI 120 bhp DSG will easily do 55 to 60 mpg on a 50 mile motorway journey at 70 mph. On short local journeys 3-5 miles mainly urban dual carriageways 45-50 mph does around 45 mpg.
  4. Not sure I trust AI when it comes to car parts...
  5. Good to see that the ADT will include private flights in the coming years. The rates of Air Passenger Duty are ridiculously low. For an internal flight in economy, it is a mere £8. So, should my wife and I choose to visit friends on the Black Isle and fly from Southampton to Inverness it is £16 (2x£8) in duty. If I drive, fuel duty, and VAT on that duty (not the VAT on the base fuel cost), would amount to £28.60. Bonkers. [Rant over, for now!]
  6. I still reckon all flights should attract greater green levies in light of their greenhouse gas emissions. The individual motorists is too easy a target whereas airlines & airports have a powerful lobby influencing governments.

No you need longer bolts. The bolts contact the wheel and hub - standard thread length is 27mm. If you add a spacer between, that’s simply sandwiched between the wheel and hub, held in place by the same bolts. Because 5mm of thread is now taken up sitting in the spacer, you lose that contact length with the hub; so in order to ensure the wheels are secured to the hub with the same number of threads, you need to add at least 5mm of bolt thread length. Hence, changing from 27mm to at least 38mm. Fortunately AwesomeGTI source them and supply with the spacer (as per the pic); 20 of them (5 bolts x 4 wheels). I then bought a set of locking wheel nuts and replaced one of each of the nuts with a locking wheel bolt.
  8. Evening All. Our winter rims have arrived from skoda-parts.com and they fit! This is a good news story. I ordered these just last week and they arrived yesterday by FedEx. The tracking app was excellent and I could see them at every step - from the store through to export / import in Germany / UK and finally on their way up to Scotland. They arrived well packaged, in perfect condition and are the genuine article. Importantly, they cost £850 for the four, plus £40 for delivery along with a couple of other items which we included in the order (less than half the UK price Skoda USB C cables). I am impressed. I had called them to discuss the order because I was worried about the import duty after Brexit but, even on an order of this value, the price I paid at checkout was the final price - FedEx didn't turn up demanding additional funds. The supplier is UK VAT registered and handles everything at their end. Seamless. I removed the front offside 19" wheel and mounted one of the 17" Crystal rims to check clearance over the larger front brake caliper and the clearance is fine. Phew! I recall these rims being listed on the Certificate of Conformity for our first order but the paperwork wasn't in the car when we collected our second, replacement car a week ago. The rims are now in our garage having had two coats of Poorboys Wheel Sealant today and they will receive a final third coat tomorrow, having allowed the current layers to harden overnight. It's easier to apply them now before the rims are mounted and this will see them through for three months of so of winter weather from end-November. After that I will only be able to top up the sealant on the face of the rims, although they will be cleaned and treated again when they are removed in early-April next year. I have ordered a set of four Goodyear Ultragrip 3 winter tyres. What a refreshing change - £521 delivered from MyTyres.com compared to around £1300 for our previous RR Velar. This is a recurring theme and it's a lovely experience - our insurance with Allianz Gold, including 180 days comprehensive cover in the EU......£242. Today was enjoyable because I managed to work out how to fit the luggage area netting, set up Mrs A with her personal account, unique settings, key and iPhone link as well as the rims. One pain is that we have already picked up a stone chip on the bonnet - just 330 miles into our ownership! Official Skoda touch up paint already ordered and cocktail sticks at the read for application. Sad! Best wishes.
  9. Hi Just in the process of buying a 2022 Kodiak Sportline 1.5 TSI ACT DSG in grey, should be cruising next week. Been a Jeep rider for 20 years followed by several crap company cars , not crap as in unreliable but just not fun to drive. Main interests are my dogs and reading sci-if, always worked on my own cars so hope to be able to do the same with this one.
  10. No problem. I've used them a few times recently and am starting to view them as my favourite supplier for genuine or 'safe bet' pattern parts. Delivery surprisingly swift from Czech too.
  11. Ooops. Correction made. Thanks for spotting this so quickly!
  12. True to be honest I don’t care for what colour it is as long as it’s protected as I want to get this car how I want it and keep it for many years. How long would a mk2 realistically last if cared for properly from this point in your opinion ?
  13. Pretty colourful skies yesterday..... And tonight's moonlight.............
  14. Cant advise on the Diesel, but our 1.2 TSI 110 bhp DSG 5 door hatchback will easily do 55-60 mpg on a 50 mile motorway journey at 70 mph.
  15. Definitely... The cable doesn't go to the house and stops mid air.

Could it be a tyre? I pose that question because on my previous car, a Mk2 Superb, I had a low noise which I thought was wheel bearing; the Master Technician at my local dealer came on a short drive with me and his thoughts were wheel bearing. Put it on the ramp, checked, bearings were fine. Turned out to be a tyre. A very slight bulge on the inside tyre wall, probably caused by some pot-hole. Changed the tyre and noise gone. According to the tyre depot the bulge was so slight it would not have been an MOT failure but there was some minor structural damage internally. If your rim is dented potentially your tyre is damaged too.
  19. @OrvilleTheDuck Had it increased? Did you not remove oil? "reduce oil level'" Too much oi. "Reduced oil level" not enough!!! Does your car have a Dip Stick? Did you dip the oil when you first got the warning. As the Manual tells you to. @ Normal Operating Temperature, parked on the flat after a few minutes? Then compare that to Once the engine and oil had cooled to ambient temperature?
  20. @Lee Public Road and not Racing or Timing. @Mariosti The cars speedometer from the Factory over reads and a slight circumference increase usually has the speed more accurate. Very few would change settings in the ECU for New Tyres with more tread and run at higher pressures or for more worn and lower pressures. various circumferences. PS, Winter Tyres / All Season for road, none track use just getting about, does the UNSPUNG weight really matter. ?? PS. I have had in the past few years Alpin 5 & Alpin 6 and various CrossClimates, First Edition, + and SUV and have CrossClimate 3 on my EV right now. I should have gone with Pirelli Cinturato AS SF3 Self Sealers as i have no spare wheel. Had 2 punctures and replace 1 CrossClimate 3 already in the first 3 months.
  21. ive just ordered new coil packs so fingers crossed
  22. @Graham Butcher 'Experts' that are local residents reckon that Private Flights during the Grouse Shooting season or during Golf Events in the Region are a cause of increased pollution. Their answer seams to be closure of the airport. Ignoring the fact the private flights will land someplace else maybe less that 30 miles away increasing pollution there. http://thecourier.co.uk/fp/business-environment/transport/5574581/experts-dundee-air-pollution-airport
  23. Why skimp on the coding? It's just part of replacing a battery to give it a good start in life. Electrical components are very sensitive to voltage fluctuations. Your choice!!

  25. Hi everyone. I bought a skoda octavia tour 2009. And while i was doing some modification and upgrade possibilities, i saw this forum and decided to join.

I have 10mm Eibach, see how they look on standard DCC setup. And yes, I had to buy the longer bolts, and you should too.
  27. Had a problem with my 2025 karoqs infotainment system about 2 months into ownership from new. The car was at the dealers for about a week, apparently the part required was one of only two in the country and needed setting up to my particular car. Sorry, Im no technophobe so cant elaborate on it but its not something you want or expect on a new car. From memory I think the dealership said it would have cost me about £ 1200 if not under warranty.
  28. Mine is booked in for a Service and MOT next week, service is part of the plan from the dealer, so will see how that goes. Then fingers crossed no issue's I will be fitting the wheel spacers and performance replacement top to the air box etc
  29. I understand that a Skoda Fabia Mk4 bought new in Israel will have a 2-year warranty and (presumably) that warranty's terms and conditions will be similar to those of the UK warranty that includes this exclusion. Damage caused by industrial pollution, climate, external heat, chemicals or mechanical force. It seems much more likely (to me) that 'fading' of the black trim surrounding the window switches will have resulted from a fault in the trim's plastic material rather than from Israel's climate, but Yogev's Skoda dealership might argue the opposite and not support an under-warranty replacement. Having looked, not too closely, at the plastic trim around my 2024 Fabia's switches, I think the trim+switches should not be too difficult to remove. (That's just based on there being a small slot in the lower edge of the front part of the trim behind the door handle.) Realistically, a new replacement trim will only be available from Skoda and the chances are small of finding a secondhand trim from a smashed-up Fabia Mk4. This link relates to black trim restorers and may be of interest https://www.carmagazine.co.uk/car-advice/maintenance/the-best-black-trim-restorer-to-freshen-up-tired-plastics/ As Evolution3 mentioned earlier, it would be worth Yogev asking a Skoda dealership what the cost of a new trim would be (It would almost certainly need to be ordered). If a new trim is fairly inexpensive (and the 'fading' really annoys Yogev), a replacement could be fitted: or, if the cost is high, Yogev could try a trim restorer - though they can be pricey.
  30. If you're interested in changing the tyre to a smaller size, keep in mind that the ADAS systems might use the wheel circumference as an input to calculate the vehicle speed. While a 3.5% difference doesn't seem that much, it might be too much of a difference for the systems to compensate it. Then you'll end up with weird behavior when driving, due to the wrong vehicle speed calculations A way to avoid this would be to code the new wheel circumference to the vehicle, but this implies a dealer visit, which might refuse to do it (since it's not a size homologated for your vehicle) Below you can see a comparison between the homologated sizes for the RS
  31. On an old car that has not been garaged, you will find that the original coating falls off from most suspension parts without much brushing, you just lift it and it falls off, at least here in Herts that's the case. Winter salt plus constant humidity strip away coatings. On exhaust, I usually use a tough cloth (a cut off leg of old jeans trousers) to take off rust growths, then zinc the whole thing up. If more rust grows in some places, it'l get taken off and recoated next time. It is also a driveway job for me. Does not look as pretty as uniform paint, but does the job. My Roomster still has original exhaust after 14 years outside...
  32. From what I’ve seen posted in this forum and the Facebook group, issues with the infotainment system are mostly to do with connecting to the MySkoda App, a recent issue with repeated update messages which is now resolved and moans about the Sat Nav - in the 30 months I’ve had my Karoq I’ve had no issues with infotainment system apart from the update messages, the Sat Nav is really good I use it all the time. After the initial 3 year free period expires there is a yearly subscription to get map updates and traffic info. 1.0 TSI seems to be a good engine no reports of issues from owners unlike the 1.5 TSI. If over 3 yrs old buy the Skoda All-in-one 2 yr service plan to get the Skoda 2yr warranty which is included.
  33. All Season 3PMSF (Three Peak Mountain Snowflake) tyres might be all that is needed if you do not require FULL SNOW Tyres. Plenty All-Seasons suitable for use in Snow or pisted or non pisted roads and even if Snow Chains are needed. @Mariosti The ABS / TPMS / TC will not give a monkeys if there are different widths or circumference of tyres fitted. Reset the TPMS. But you are intending changing the Diameter / Circumference. Maybe just fit narrower treads / sidewall to sidewall if cost is an issue. Set your Winter Tyre speed warning on the car if Winter / Snow Tyres are fitted.
  34. Those that have the 1.0 TSI all seem to be happy enough with them. I bought the 1.5 simply because the difference in fuel consumption was so small. So it made sense to me to go for the more powerful option, given the size of the car. How old is the car & is it a Skoda dealership? If it's outside the original three year warranty then I'd say buying from an approved dealer is essential. While I'm not aware of any specific infotainment issues, there are a number of others that really need to be covered. But that probably applies to most modern cars, given the complexity of the electronics & reliance on software combined, with manufacturer cost cutting. An example being LED lights which should easily outlast the life of the car. But Skoda have managed to produce LED indicators built into the headlight, that cost around £1k to replace. My car was new in June 25 & in December, the speed limit detection stopped working properly. Here we are nine months later & they're still unable to fix it.
  35. Welcome to the forum. Do they have a trained EV technician? Was that just the Pyro Fuse that was changed then? The Electrician needs to be Speaking to another Electrician that is trained on working with EV,s I suspect.
  36. I use zinc spray lavishly on anything underside and around engine bay, including exhaust (note pure, high temp 400deg C resistant zinc for exhaust, cheaper zinc-alu will do for other parts). Easy to apply and easy to top up in places every couple years or so (cars not garaged). Zinc is better than other coatings in that it offers galvanic protection also of nearby exposed areas. Pinch welds / jacking points are definitely worth zincing up then painting over as visible, but for lifting using garage lift it is best to put in lift pads IMHO, I have had them on all cars. Not expensive, easy to install, double the amount of support points and save wear on pinch welds. I usually lift using a trolley jack with a wide rubber pad on a lifting point/ pinch weld, then put a jack stand under the lift pad. Of course, much easier with a garage lift. HTH.
  37. If you don't want to lower I would go for B6 shocks as the valving is the same as the shocks on the B12 kit but it is for those after a performance upgrade but do not wish to lower.
  38. After the issues with the radio it’s more than my marriage is worth to be spending more money on “pointless upgrades”!
  39. Thanks Martin I'll give that a go! I really appreciate your reply. Neil
  40. Premium Ridex parts (as opposed to base range) are certainly good in so far as I have used them. I have 2 steel brake discs (zinc coated) and an airco condenser/dryer on my Mk3 Octavia vRS for some years now. Have not used any parts in their base range, so cannot comment on those. On the particular topic of zinc coated brake discs, Ridex ones were 40% price of the ECP ones at the time ....
  41. @lol-lol Yes, I know about Electric Forecourt, just a few miles from me, and it can cope with that load, as there is a tap into the main 275kV or maybe even 400kV grid powerline just metres away from it. The place is run by Gridserve and has on-site 2 massive transformers to provide the power. But a couple of swallows does not make a summer. If we are to go electric, we need far more of these centres, but however, they are not geared up to accept HGVs. The same national grid powerline that serves Electric Forecourt, also runs close by the Fastned site in Colchester.
  42. At the top of the infotainment screen slightly right of centre there should be a number in a circle, this is the amount of notifications of updates you have. Swipe down on the small bar at top centre of screen and press on notifications, any updates will be shown there and you can press to update and will update in the background or when the car is stopped. No need to stop and leave engine running.
  43. Update on this. Rear donk solved. Bottom droplink bolt on the passenger side wasn't tight (the one bottom right of the 2nd pic). Jacked up the hub so all under load and torqued it up properly. Checked the other side which was ok. As I jacked the hub up and compressed the spring, there was the donk sound but I tried it a couple of times and couldn't see what was moving to make the sound. Did the same after the work was done and silent. Test drive was silent too. Spring looked fine sat in the cup and looked fine under compression so not sure what was up. One thing sorted. Work booked for end of next week - helicoil my dogbone mess, front arb switched to H&R, front topmounts, check the wheel speed sensors then 4wa and hopefully that's it...
  44. Bit of a moment of joy for me too. I can't get on with an astronomical telescope, just can't, dunno why. But I recently bought an SVBony SV28A spotting scope, with a digital eyepiece. Tonight was my first attempt to use it, and this is through a triple glazed window, with street lights outside. Here's the Moon: And a vain attempt at 2x on my iPhone: And here's what it looks like through the spotting scope: In wayyy off ideal conditions, but for a first attempt I'm absolutely chuffed. So excited that the scope was picking up my heartbeat through the bedroom floor 🙄😂 Gonna give it a proper go soon, now I know how it all works. Gaz

Well a quick update on the vrs. Went into r-tech for a couple of weeks. And has had a k03 hybrid turbo, wagner intercooler, and k04 injectors. Plus some other supporting mods. And some general maintenance bits. Very happy with the results. As can be seen in the photo she now has 3 boost levels.
