  1. The lowering springs will finish them off! Save up more money rather than waste what you have on cr4p coilovers you will hate almost immediately.

  2. What I would love to see is any politician or elected PM or indeed the party in power to be 100% held accountable by a court of law for their pre election promises/manifesto (Carrots dangled to get us to vote for them and all that). There must be consequences for their lies. To put that in context, when we buy goods or a service if it's not as described, then as consumers we all have rights. Politicians in effect are a service/goods that we pay for and we should have rights when they repeatedly do not deliver. Simply being able to vote for someone else during an electing is not good enough as is often the case the alternatives are hopeless as well. They need to be taken to task.

  3. Bit of neighbourly bonding this morning. Our 70odd yr old neighbour had mentioned the state of the dividing fence a few months back, but that hed be in touch about again. Fast forward to last weekend when asked me to call over to look and see what i thought of the panels he was going making up for it. Seriously solid job... So this morning I went out and ripped out all the half rotten panels and then we spent 3-4 hrs together putting in and temporary bracing them until he gets a chance to make up the "proper" top strip braces and im going to get a colleague to cut down some steel plate off cuts to brace the bottoms properly to the concrete plinth for full storm force wind proofing he is a retired carpenter, so everything is absolutely spot on. had a great morning!

  5. Keep the MK3. It's 5 years old and only done 20k. It'll be worth, what, about 40%, of its purchase price and it's only just run in. You'd have to pay a lot of money to essentially just get a sightly more shiny car which you'll be used to in 2 weeks, the novelty will be gone and going through the massive depreciation phase again with no tangible benefit. Unless it's not ticking boxes you really need I can't see the point in getting rid of a perfectly good, very low miles car that'll last another decade easy.

  6. So you are saying that all the money I spent on the "genuine Tim Peake astronaut suit, one careful owner" on Ebay was wasted? And that I could have driven with the window open an inch and not had to worry about explosive decompression? This weekend just keeps getting worse... To the OP, the Rest function might come in handy if the car is warm. It will re-circulate the warm air for 30 minutes after you switch off the engine.

  7. I always found it strange that the mk1 Fabia vRS came with 205/45 16 spare wheel, the same size of the other 4, but had a 80kph/50mph sticker on it. The only difference being it was mounted on a steel wheel not an Alloy . My tyre was a Michelin Premacy tyre which was Asymmetric and non-directional.

  8. Really glad to see everyone managed to check & get the cancellation message prior to spending both time & fuel going there. I'll keep you all updated about revised dates, whilst bloody frustrating we will still do this rolling road day.

  13. See your car a lot on the vRS Facebook groups, @creamvRS, and as someone who's recently picked up a Race Blue Mk3, I certainly know where to come for inspiration! If mine looks half as good as yours does, I'll be happy! QQ - were the mirror covers easy to fit? Do they fit over the top of the originals, or do you take them off? Cheers!

  14. Ring stuff ? During the "troubles" in my road some years ago ,I found that I got better results with a highly visible dummy camera and a covert one. Anyone intent on wrongdoing avoids the obvious one ,and is easy prey for the covert one .

  15. Yes, standard. I guess not having the original number plate lights with the box of other bits will be the decider!

  17. It would appear that for you it is. You need to go back and watch the video rather than just quote the actual headline. "A number of people have told me about women not standing for Parliament this time because of the threats that they have recieved." Does she say ALL WOMEN? No. Have some women said they will not stand due to threats? Yes. https://www.nytimes.com/2019/11/01/world/europe/women-parliament-abuse.html Like I said TWO SEPERATE TOPICS. Is that too complicated?

  18. You may want to double-check whether it comes on - as I said above - when ignition is turned on, but before starting the engine? Because it should, and if it doesn't there is a common wiring fault, which is why I asked the question.

  19. The dressing was never going to stay on until Thursday as it was so big and heavy and starting to piston on and off my thumb no matter how i taped it on. So took it off this morning and it was not as bad as i thought it might be. Just 4 visible stitches to see. Now i have a breathable dressing on and a leather thumb stall on and all feels good. I cut the thumb off a cycling glove to hold that in place and all was well even using a thumb shifter on my bike. Just hoping the biopsy is all clear and my thumb can stay intact. Very useful things are thumbs, especially for turning a key in your cars ignition.

  20. So finally got my cambelt done along with water pump for £320 incl vat. Not too bad I suppose for genuine VAG belt kit etc from an independent specialist. Pics of old belt after 50k miles and 8 years!! Looks like the scales of a Pangolin.

  21. It is because the spare is a different size you need to drive with more caution. eg not above 50 mph/ 80kph. Thanks AG Falco

  22. On mine the tube had come away from the nozzle head so whenever I sprayed the water was just going down the inside of the trim and was pooling in the spare tyre well. You'd be best to check if that's the same for you, rusty tyre beware.

  23. Delighted with it. It is a medium and my other bikes are L or XL. I wanted smaller for transporting and use on snow and rough ground, getting it over gates, walls etc. My other bikes are doing more miles on road and track and pedal strikes are a PITA with my Cannondale even with shorter cranks fitted. Good dropper post & shifters. Cheaper components like the gears and brakes but again what i wanted, they work. Light wheel set and tyres and good quick release which is handy. So there is walking mode & the Yamaha motor behaves differently to the Brose on my 6 fattie Levo which is much has more torque and get up and go & is silent and the Bosch on my full suspension Cannondale which is more jerky and you can hear working. The Yamaha motor gives assistance and low down torque very easily and on full (turbo) setting still likes you to use the gears. That's as i wanted. Less chance of going through as many or wrecking cassettes & chains i hope.

  24. Its not just disabling heavy load systems the charging system needs to know what type of battery, amp and age it is . As it is a complex charging system on these cars now Its not just an alternator pushing out charge all the time like cars of old EFB and AGM need different charging As above Code it correctly for NO issues

  26. I have a Power Magic Pro fitted with my dash cams, Open the passenger door and remove the trim at the end of the Dash, mine is fitted there, it's neat, out of the way, near the fuse box and easily got to if needed. Its just wire tied in and there's plenty of room for all the cable and an earth morning point etc

  27. I look at it from this perspective. If I had 75k in the bank I'd be doing well to get £1500 a year - about £120 per month. A terraced house purchased (50k) and renovated (9k) for less than that paid £450 per month for the first 5 years, now pays £475. Up until last tenant it cost next to nothing in repairs, its going to cost me about £1000 getting it really nice again this time. Tenants fitted 2 new carpets and 2 sets of new curtains, but damaged doors and kitchen flooring and marked every wall. Deposit £950 fully retained. Rent owed £475, so unless I recover money I'm short by about £525, but the property will be better than it was. I completely agree with advice re doing everything in writing, the only time I've been caught out was accepting notice from 1 tenant when they were behind on the rent so I just let it run, then 2nd tenant said they weren't leaving and I had to serve notice and let the clock start running again - 2 months notice in England. Purchase was redundancy money well spent IMO, what else would I do with it? Like George best said, "I spent a lot of money on booze, birds and fast cars. The rest I just squandered."

  28. MIght be able to make the rearranged date if in January as flat out at work all weekend. Hate Xmas and we got 21,000 orders for toys in just 24 hours. Blame Frozen 2 and Toy Story 4 (bloody Tom Hanks and Woody).

  29. While thats certainly true for my superb which has the film type element, t'missus's Karoq has the 'fine wiggly element' type of heated screen which I'm not sure has the same effect? It doesn't have that blue-purple oily look the Superb has.

  31. They are all LED's...... so if failed they say need new dash, however I'm sure the LED's can be changed and if it happened to mine thats what I would do............, on the flip side it "might" just be the connector, so try unplugging and re-connecting it might sort it.

  33. lanc- we now tray freeze everything. Fruit gets done straight as is veg or blanched. Then bagged . We find it lasts a bit longer. Especially Raspberries, which ripen in batches. We even buy sprouts early in the year, blanch and tray freeze for xmas, when the prices go up. Xmas day, it's a quick cook.

  37. Read my earlier post. No involvement with the dealer at all. The broker I use gets great prices by contracting to buy,say,100 cars a year from a particular dealer. The dealer has no involvement with the customer except to deliver the car on the day,why would they want to when they are being screwed down to a price? You don’t pay for the car in advance, only a deposit, you pay the balance when the car is delivered,I know and trust the broker I have used twice already and would do again, but as I said, this way is not for every one,not if you want to visit a showroom. The people who just put you in touch with a dealer for a flat rate fee,say £500,which you may or may not be aware of if it is worked into the price,I would call them agents, they have no purchasing arrangements with dealers. The broker I used also operates a specialist leasing company which is how they get their high volume and low prices. PS I was wrong in the earlier post to say that the car was paid for in advance, although I did transfer the funds to them just prior to delivery,(after a 3 month wait) which does involve a trust element, but that was my choice.

  38. My 245 is a Golf GTi PP (Performance Pack, bigger brakes, wider rear track and faster steering) with a 590 litre boot (Golf 380 litre) but importantly £8,000 cheaper than the Golf. Who cares that it has a Skoda badge on the bonnet, boot and steering wheel, I don't.

  39. This is the correct table for agm batteries, so at 12.6-7 your battery is fine, remembering that your car BMS will not charge to 100% to allow for regenerative/ overrun charging.

  42. Don't pay more for a fancy container and a brand name. Just use the stuff the Skoda franchised main dealers often use. VAG's own branded Quantum Longlife 5W-30 Fully Synthetic Engine Oil, VW504.00 and VW507.00, which is manufactured by Fuchs. £24 for 5 litres delivered directly to your door from a Skoda main dealer... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Quantum-Longlife-5W-30-Fully-Synthetic-Engine-Oil-5-Litres/223613948218?hash=item34106e113a:g:ubgAAOSwk75dSZyD https://quantumparts.co.uk/media/custom/upload/16444_Quantum_LONGLIFE_III_5W-30_Spec_Sheet_v4.pdf

  44. I fitted a back box delete pipe to my 1.2tsi monte carlo, sounds decent without sounding like a wet fart with a full delete. The delete pipe was around £36 from ebay although if you have a VRS you'd need better looking tailpipes than twin mild steel downward facing diesel ones like I have on mine
