  4. I did an intensive overhaul yesterday, since I've achieved 45000 km (~28000 mi) / 2.5 years : Engine oil (+ oil filter) change Fuel filter change Cabin filter change Brake fluid change Haldex oil change + Haldex pump strainer cleaning. When I see how dirty the strainer was, the maintenance manual is a complete non sense, not to include strainer cleaning upon oil change! I let you make your own opinion: And here the pump housing: Eeeerk... 🤮

  6. @newbie69 I plan to write a tutorial with much details. Would that help? 😁 I have to say that some points are not very detailed indeed. Juste a single example: I've spent more thant 45mn to try to understand how to remove this $%µ@&# pump connector, whereas simply removing the 2 fixing screws of the Haldex control unit, enable you to disconnect the pump in less than 2mn... Not said/written anywhere... 🙄

  7. Going bust, screwing the creditors, buying back the assets for a pittance, continuing to run the same business from the same premises in exactly the same manner but having written off all the borrowed money and debts, 3rd time in a decade I think the article said. And its called "Business as usual" 🙁 Makes me feel like a dinosaur.

  8. So the fabia now has it's first event arranged with the new set up, Standing 1/4 mile and Standing 1 mile racing at Elvington next weekend Had a think about what tyres to take the ZZR's have a slightly higher profile and dug out the ratios to double check them, i think in the standing mile i'd be hoping for 140mph The top speeds at 5000rpm Top speeds at 5400RPM where the rev limiter is set to So prep started and have now mixed up 20 litres of Water/Meth and a tunnel run yesterday

  9. hey guys. 1st post hope everyone is well. My car didnt come with a reverse camera, but if the boot button was working then i would have left it as is. But as it wasnt working i had to buy it and thought id go and fit the camera. Anyway i have 2 questions. Which wires did you connect your power source on the wiper motor? Thers brown which is negative and the other is green red is that ok to use for power? Now my other question is my video cables have a red wire comming of it on both ends. I take it as that is for power? And do they need to be used? Thanks

  13. Think of it this way. Do you need different brakes to stop a 86bhp Rapid from 70 than you do to stop a 130hp Rapid from 70? As long as you're not pressing the loud pedal, no. How much power the engine can theoretically put out is irrelevant. Brakes are for reducing the kinetic energy of the car, not its power.

  14. Bit of an update. Just finished fitting the Alloy manifold kit from Darkside developments. Took about 2.5 hours. cost £120 and a couple of skinned knuckles. looks like I caught it just in time as there are 4 of the flaps missing, and the egr was blocked nearly solid. not driven it yet but will let you know. thanks for all the help and advice.

  15. Stunning pics of a great car in a beautiful country. Looks like NZ has the maximum number of RS owners here on the forum. Skoda does have a soft corner for NZ in my view . I checked out the NZ site, and the RS comes fully speced except for pano roof & towbar for 72K NZ$ which is almost 10K CHF cheaper than Switzerland 🤑. And at that price, the swiss/Euro models need to further upgrade to Colombus, 3rd zone clim control, sleep pack , child pack, park assist etc. So the actual difference could be around > 15K CHF. Enjoy you lucky New Zealenders ..😎

  16. Yes, there is. When I bought the car it had ECE 2018 maps. I've updated the maps on the SD card to ECE 2020/21 as I thought this might help, but unfortunately it didn't I've been trying this, but I'm either not getting the right timeing, or there is something wrong with my nav unit.

  17. Looks like I'm clear of replacing that monster, installed the new sensor and all seems well. Oil was literally pouring out of the end of the old sensor. New coolant tank is waiting at my local sorting office, if only they were open for more than 2 hours.... Looks like my fab will be kicking for a while longer

  18. As you can see from the above replies, you get two sets of answers depending on manual/DSG transmission. I used to have the same combo as you - VRS TDI/DSG and the same problems. Bogs down in high gear when you put your foot down in D, hangs on in low gear too long when you take your foot off in S. Used M-mode a lot but prefer shifting up/down using the selector and not the paddles, which are never by your hand when you really need them in a hurry. I have read that you can "reset the DSG" which means returning its adaptation to factory condition, but I'm not sure it actually learns or adapts while its being driven. Its a simple procedure no tool needed (but I can't remember how you'd have to search for it). Now I'm much happier with the petrol/DSG combination 😀

  21. According to the internet you can permanently disable lane assist or change it to remember the last state. The drop down options are "not active", "active" and "last setting". I haven't had the time to let Skoda reprogram that, but it seems quite plausible for me.

  26. i found mine could alter the speaking volume by turning the volume scroll wheel on the steering wheel BUT only when a navigation instruction was being said like 'turn left in 100yards". if yours is set very low it might take a bit of guesswork with the timing....

  28. Dull race. Good work from Stroll. Albon not bad. 2 point swing for fastest lap could prove vital...as Hamilton says, he has previously lost the title by only 1 point (although I remain convinced it was fixed by the FIA so... whatever Lewis)

  42. I’ve drove 100’s of miles single track roads and whether it be on mainland or island I end up seeing little houses or villages in the middle of nowhere and the same though goes through my mind of how life is sustainable in such rural parts. Recently visited the Isle of Mull for a weekend, Absolutely stunning and a nature watchers dream. Walked 12 miles to find a 30 million year old fossilised tree and two waterfalls, Worth it once you get this view -

  44. Enabling Traffic Sign Recognition on models with Lane Assist I can confirm it works with Columbus & colour Maxidot (this procedure is slightly different to the coding on the Octavia) Controller 5F (Information Electrical) 10 - Adaptations Select channel: (63) Car_Function_List_BAP_Gen2-traffic_sign_recognition_0x21 Adjust Value to activated: Channel: (151) Car_Function_Adaptations_Gen2-menu_menu_display_road_sign_identification Adjust Value to activated: Controller A5 (Front / front view camera) 07 - Coding Byte 1 Bit 0 Enable - “01 traffic sign recognition (FTE) active" This has now moved to: Byte 16 bit 4: Controller 17 (Instruments) 07 Coding Byte 5 Bit 2 Enable - “Traffic Sign Recognition installed": Controller 5F (Information Electr.) 07 - Coding Byte 24 Bit 6 - untick Traffic Sign Display (VZA) active: Controller A5 (Front / front view camera) 07 - Coding Byte 16 Bit 4 - tick this box: Traffic Sign Recognition (TSR/VZE) active [PR-QR9] A few photos (colour maxidot): Mid coding: After coding (it couldn’t find a road sign whilst on my drive): As soon as I moved off the drive however they appeared! Resulting in it’s own display: Which moves up to the top when something else is selected (in this case the speed): Edit for dual* TSR signs: (apologies for poor quality photos... these were taken by SWMBO leaning across whilst I was driving) 40 MPH on the left and no overtaking on the right: 40MPH in front of the no overtaking sign: What shows on the Columbus (40MPH in front of the no overtaking sign... it is NOT possible to view the second sign details however!) *According to the manual unto 3 signs can be shown at the same time. Update and photo from BillyJim (TSR specced at time of order... not retro- coded, I have yet to confirm if this works on my coded car as I rarely use sat-nag and have seen multiple TSR even rarer) “I had my passenger grab this shot of the screen on the French autoroute on my recent continental trip. I touch-pressed the overlapping speed limit signs and they separated for about 20-30 seconds before merging again.”
