This is going to be a long post! Finally got to splitting the 5 Speed box to finally see what the damage was and there was nothing left of 4th gear So began the hunt for parts LNK 0A8 sourced from Vee-Dubs in Newcastle Sam Levett sorted me out with driveshafts, Cable ends, Starter, Gearbox mount. My friend Greig sort out a clutch and pressure plate from his Fabia that only had 200 miles on it, Also gave me a spare set of drive shafts, spare set of mounts as well as a the dog bone mount and a gear cable bracket. And Darkside Developments came through with a flywheel, shifter, oil, bolts needed, dust tin , clutch line and slave cylinder Not much was saved from the 5 speed, everything is different even down to the driveshaft bolts were all different and had to be replaced. But its back on the road Testing to see what speeds we get in different gears as i couldn't find the ratios for this.

Mine has had its annual “deep clean” where all protection is stripped off, it’s fully decontaminated and then polished and coated. Takes a day and half, kills my back but means I know it’s good for the year ahead!

According to the owner's manual for my car (version 2020/07): Speed range Depending on the equipment, ACC allows a speed setting in the range of 30-160 or 30-210 km/h. If control is started at a speed of less than 30 km/h on vehicles with an automatic transmission, the speed is automatically increased to 30 km/h or controlled according to the speed of the vehicle ahead. 30 kph is around 18mph, and so if the car accelerates to that speed if you engage the cruise control at a slower speed, using it on a camp site is definitely NOT advised The speed limiter also only works from 30kph, so I'd suggest your best option is to drive on idle at walking pace. Changing a clutch pack on a dq200 gearbox is a complex procedure, more than just remove and replace. I believe it involves numerous shims selected by measurement and then a calibration procedure that may require specialist diagnostic equipment. Its also possible, and given that this was a sudden fault, that its not the clutch pack, but the mechatronics unit has become faulty. A common problem being the pressure accumulator housing fractures and low pressure unable to move the clutch solenoid valves adequately. So unless this garage has done these before and has the right knowledge and training, think twice. Even in main dealers there are often tales of escalating costs due to unsuccessful attempts at repairs.

Everything works as it should according to your description, except the lack of ignition pulses. Yet I would be careful with the method of testing for pulses. I would not use a test lamp but an oscilloscope. Then I would disconnect the ignition transformer and test again on the connector (in case the ignition transformer is shorted). Read my signature.

Nice little drive followed by a wash. No problems at all, lots of smiles from me. Nothing broke. All fluids stayed in their proper places. Really happy with Wellington European's work. A mate and I had a good feel around the carpet and it is damp underneath the passenger side carpet. So something’s definitely leaking there and it must be the source of the musty smell. I will put up with it for a little longer, don’t want to strip the interior out yet as I have a couple of events to go to in the next few weeks.

The whole front bumper needs to come off - its a pain, but not impossible with a second pair of hands and some patience.

Not the foggiest, but that is about idle speed in first gear, which will be sustained by the idle controller on most electronic injection systems.

When my nearest and dearest are at caravan parks or any such place with gravel tracks and grass i do hope that drivers have full control of their vehicles and are paying particular attention to just touching the accelerator and are ready to apply the brakes.

My previous car would only engage CC at 30mph or above, not sure if its the same for Skodas.

Yes, that's the one, it comes with a thicker steel blanking plate, so you can replace the baked bean can that you mentioned in your other thread LOL. If you get the EGR emulator, you have to remove the air pipe to the turbo ( just a jubilee type clamp ) so that you can access the EGR electrical plug, located down the back of the engine. You have to work by feel as it's virtually impossible to see it from above. Study the pictures of the EGR valve & you'll find it by feel ok. About a half hour job to fit. Best of luck.

Hi, mine is a 2018 so I don't think it was even an option. If it was the original owner didn't spec it.

Just keep it simple but interesting ,Fun and a pleasure to drive 100% of the time,the same feeling I get with my Boxster 981 and Mark Cup 70 in his Cayman for reasonable money. Porsche do it so well.

That's the other thing with konis. I think the special active are the same as fsd. I'm sure someone will correct me.

Go hunting on some websites that do kits and parts and start measuring what you have to what matches. I mean silicon pipes etc. Then you can find a cone filter and some sort of shield. Hardest part will be finding a bracket for it.

They must love me with how much I use them. I’ve been to 3 different stores. Even a random one in Coventry once as I was passing buy to pick up parts. I hear stories of people not being served and then the communication from HO not to serve joe public. But even in lockdown I ring up say the part number, book a time slot and pay over the phone. Don’t know what I’d do if I lost them at trade prices! 🥺

@fossman Best if your contact is with Skoda UK who imported the car other than some business that used to be reviewing cars etc and after going bust is now under new ownership & just about selling cars and is part owned by the VW group.

I loved the Rapid/Toledo (I had 4) and only gave the Seat to my daughter because she needed a car with plenty of room. Having both retired my wife and I only really need one car and we dicussed what our motoring needs were and we bought a Suzuki S Cross. The Suzuki Baleno was bought really to just cater for the 3 occasions each year where we require two cars ! The Toledo and Baleno have a lot in common as they are both criticised for having " hard plastic", have plenty of room inside, are lively , comfortable and economical, but were not popular. The Toledo definately has the superior interior and more space and I would say that the Baleno has similar room to the Fabia. The Baleno , however, is more fun to drive and has a strange charm of its own. In some ways the Baleno reminds me of a car of yesteryear in the way it drives. It was amazing value for money and has a torque converter auto with paddles and can be driven like a formula 1 car if you want. It is very light and very perky. So far it has been totally reliable.

I’m guessing it is a manual? sounds like an issue with the ECU. That engine has all manner of idle control programming. Our current car an 18 plate Octavia (manual) used to rev up to about 2k as you lifted the clutch when in reverse. An ‘anti stall’ measure said Skoda. It was fixed by an update to the ECU. As others have suggested take it back to the dealers. Try to get phone video footage (you will need your passenger to do this)! Otherwise you may get the ‘we can’t replicate’ response from the service dept.

Never would be my answer seeing how virgin like mine was after 82K miles.

All TPS sales staff are working from home since a long time, in normal times they spent 99% of their time dealing with phone orders, it was only people non trade people like myself and the taxi drivers that would ever go to the trade counter, they dont(or didn't) mind dealing with me because I knew exactly what I needed, gave the part numbers & could confirm the suffix numbers if there were different trim colours for instance. Tthe taxi drivers in general were a real pain in the backside for them but were tolerated because they were businesses and collectively made up a big market, they knew that they were buying the parts & paying Fred in a shed cash to fit them, Fred not wanting anyone to know he was moonlighting would not have an account with them and would have bought the cheapest parts on the internet, so they accept the walk in taxi drivers, I would phone my orders & have them delivered or collect if it was urgent, they always sold to me under either "Generic trade counter sales" or "Generic Taxi" I reckon at the end of this like many businesses they will continue with sales staff working from home and closed doors to the warehouse so as not to have to put up with the great unwashed walking in. Now is perhaps the time to get a foot in the door if the dealers parts counters are closed and to try and build a relationship to remain with them, in my branch its them that do the relationship building because that is what you should do to retain customers.

Please don't take this as political but what annoyed me today was the stark contrast between the Duke of Edinburgh's funeral and that attended by senior Sinn Fein party members and ex IRA members last year.... Small numbers and clear social distancing at one and huge numbers and no social distancing at the other... No wonder people are angry about the event last year!

Its official, im now the proud owner of a Sportline with Sunroof,tech and safety pack. Im not fussed about the number plate being displayed as by tomorrow ill be putting my personalised plates back on. What an amazing vehicle it is.

Google maps with offline maps of your choice? Even though I have an iPhone and use CarPlay I use Google Maps because of the offline maps option which Apple maps doesn't offer.

Downside maps not downloadable, so will not work when phone signal is not available. Also not forgetting the other sat nav rely on phone connection for traffic, so they'll not work either without a signal

1Z0868565F is the part number you require, I believe. It may be the same for other colours though, so specify the black if purchasing. I have seen one in the UK on ebay, for around £40 but I assume postage from here will be greater, if available, to France.I think the seller was in Gravesend, Kent. To be blunt, they are usually only around £20-odd from a main dealer so I am surprised they are selling for so much on ebay, unless they include the alarm sensor part, that you won't need anyway as you will remove your old one and re-fit that in to the replacement sunglass holder. They can also usually be found on aliexpress for varying amounts but the black will be much harder to source. The light grey is anywhere, from around ten quid, new, going up to anything the seller will think someone will pay. I had a genuine light grey one around ten years ago, from the main dealer and they were then, about £16-18. At that time, the dealer's or popular knowledge, did not know if they fitted models of Fabia that did not already have the box, just the blank plate so I had to order and pay, just to try so I took the punt and they fitted perfectly, in just a minute. Pop the old one out, slip the new one in. They then became a popular mod to those who didn't already have one, and the cost went up a bit. Try a main dealer first as I think it will be cheaper anyway. I know my own local dealer was willing to post small bits out once paid for, due to the Covid situation and even had them post me a screen wash filler funnel (Replaces the normal plastic lid), free of postage, for less then a fiver, where eBay sellers wanted between £10 and £15 for the same thing. You may have to pay the postage but it will most likely still beat the price from eBay and it will be brand new, with the two year warranty Skoda provide...

Is this your own car or were you just nicking the radio?

Started my apprenticeship 35 years ago with Audi/VW when they were both in the same dealer prior to the split. Can't understand why mechanics don't use gloves or battery operated tools, so much quicker than unwinding a bolt with a ratchet. I see many videos on Youtube with very good content but watch for three minutes while they labouriously unwind bolts by hand which could be done in a fraction of the time (I always torque critical bolts), and others where the mechanic's hands are caked in grease? Why, no need. I have a fantastic Snap On torque wrench for doing the torque angle on the CAYC injector bolts, which if you are/were a Skoda M/T will know what I'm talking about. For the record, for others thinking of doing their valve and nozzle, the above mod was not plucked out of the air, it is a current official technical solution from the factory to help prevent the intake manifold flap getting too clagged.

Canton is one of my favourite things about my car. Sound is tremendous, and I really notice the difference in other cars now. Best I've ever heard is a Bang and Olufsen in a colleague's Audi- that was different class. Canton not quite as good but it's way better than most.
