What have you done to your Superb III today?

You should open an airco business, Colin… oh, hang on, seems you did! 😂

Yes I did. As well as working for A/C manufacturers, distributors & an AC Consultancy firm working with Tesco amongst others. Regular visits to Europe & USA as part of my work. They were good times through the ups & downs of the economy but more relaxed these days.

My only contact with the industry these days is from afar & going to old colleague retirement do's (one this Friday) & funerals. Makes you think a bit about life & what's more important.

I guess not, only cold air was a little bit warm. Now it's very fine :)

You have a summer there? :D :D

They already look great. Looking forward to seeing them mounted on your Superb!

I got fed up of the murky C pillar black plastic strips on the outside so decided to use my old bottle of meguires ultimate compound. I was very pleased with the results as I thought it just too damaged by the sun.

Gave it a go on the roof rails and is better but can still see some baked in water spots

Great, some photos would be nice so we can see the results.

I was thinking that but didn’t get a before picture, but do have one from a while ago which you can see is cloudy

Where my car rarely moves the sun made the black pillars very cloudy and almost matte like, it’s not perfect yet as needs more elbow grease.

I only done a small patch on the rails which doesn’t really show on camera

Wow, that really makes a big difference, I had the same issues with mine and was planning on doing something similar, that was pre accident of course.

Did you do all the pillars? You mentioned doing the C pillar, which I always thought was the back door one, the one you show is, unless I'm mistaken, the B pillar.👍

I did the same 6 months ago. All plastics trims on B and C pillars where all micro scratched:

I can't remember whether I used Meguiars' #80 or #83, sorry.

Hard luck today.

My summer wheels only back on for 2 weeks, this afternoon on a very narrow country road, I had to pull over to the right to avoid a moron who was taking the whole road. And a bad combination of circumstances forced me to drive through a pothole at 80km/h.
I didn't have time to see it, and had no escape anyway...
As a result, the inner edge of my Right Front rim is flattened... At first glance, the depression is less than 5mm.

‘Fortunately’, I have no puncture and no vibration up to 90km/h (could not check above) and the steering doesn’t seem to pull to the right.

Really nerved! This guy drove like jerk, but I WILL pay the bill! 🤬

I´ll try to have the rim revealed. 😬

Another one, parked like a dung with a Scenic, just at a 90° turn. Usually, I manage to drive as far as possible from the inner side in this turn since the sidewalk curb is made with nasty cobblestones. I always fear to kerb my rims.

But that day, the only way to turn there, was to get on the sidewalk with wheels frankly turned towards the sidewalk, because of this stupid guy parked 1m away (I'm not kidding) from the sidewalk on the other side. Hard luck again, though I was rolling very very slowly, the sidewalk was a bit too high and the cobblestone scratched my front mud flap while rolling down. When down on the road, I went out to look at the mudflap. Fortunately it sounded more serious, than it looked. some very minor scratched. But the lower inner screw had flew away. I didn't find it back.

Does someone know the OEM reference of the front muflaps screws please? TIA!

Note: mudflaps are OEM ones too.

Really fed up with guys driving like jerk, and I DO pay the bill! 🤬

Oh my mistake I did the B and C only on the passenger side as the drivers side is fine.

I’ll be doing it again as some point as I did miss some bits, how long it’ll last I’m not sure.

All I done was a few drops of the ultimate compound on a micro fibre cloth and scrub, but the plastic was boiling today and kept burning my hand almost.

I’ll do the rest of the rails at some point too

Yes, you're right, they belong to the mudflap kit, which has a unique OEM P/N for mudflaps and screws.

I'll make a test to see if they can be swapped with other screws to find the correct P/N

Not today but a couple of days ago installed a DTUK box thingy to give me more ponies and torques.

Mated with the pedal box already installed it sure makes the car GLF on some settings :)

The screws and clamps are not available individually or are not individually included in the ETKA. Because it comes with the set of mud flaps. But should be the same screws as from the wheelhouse liner.

I've removed a screw from the front mudflap and another one form the wheel arch.

Head and thread diameters are the same. But the thread is slightly longer on the wheel arch screw. This can be noticed without measuring.

Anyway I think I'll order a screw form the wheel arch.

I had my rim repaired today. Fortunately the guy had no appointment with any customer and he took it immediately.

The "dent" was 8.8mm and the rim deformation on the inner edge even 'pulled' on the outer edge. The guy was not sure to succeed 😟.

But he nevertheless managed to bring it back into the tolerances (max default shall not exceed 0.5mm) :

It's not 100% perfect, I can still feel a very light vibration, but I can hopefully drive again on french motorways at maximum legal speed and even slightly above.

It will then give me some weeks/months to look for a new 'dent free' rim.

Front right rim finally replaced today. I found a brand new one on ebay.de for €300 (including shipping costs).

The very slight remaining vibrations have disappeared. 🙂

Dropped the front bumper off to fix a leak in the washer bottle, and re-attach the outer parking sensors to the bumper.

Topped up my Adblu as I had a warning with 1400 miles left.

Range now showing 8000 miles, so that’ll do for the next 2.5 years 😀

How much did you have to top up by then?

I bought a 10l container Greenchem which I trust for some reason.

My car did say top up 2.25 gallons which is like 9litres, I put probably 3/4 of the bottle in, turned ignition on for 30 seconds then checked read out and it said 5000 miles and can put another 1 gallon in, so I ended up putting all the bottle in.

Went for a drive and is all good

Mine doesn't have the adblu, so that's an expense saved, and VED has dropped from £185 to just £35 a year, "winner winner chicken dinner" 😃

AdBlue doesn’t cost that much. At least in France : ~€8 every 12-13000 km. That’s less than a price difference from a gas station to another…
