Thanks for the reply. I was on the edge of installing it, but when I couldn't find a proper size USB flashdrive, I realised there may be a risk, small as may be, so I decided to call the dealership to have it done. It's a company car after all...

  • I had so many spontaneous reboots this week with even 4 occurring on the same day that the infotainment system was practically unusable. That’s why I decided to go ahead and install 1941 yesterday.

Hello, it updated my MIB2_EU_Sk_P0253, it has 367, I put the patch and activate the infon system, but I could not activate the swaps that have installed, but not activated, I tried many times and nothing at all, download version 478 and its patch, but I mistakenly put the patch before the update, (I have a 2sd card) so as not to go to the car twice. Now the screen is locked, the skoda symbol is not removed, there is no way to enter the system again. Please help!!!! Thanks for everything.

This is a MOI3 aka MIB3 update. How and why did you update the MIB2 with a MOI3 software? It’s no wonder you bricked it already.

Mine is MIB2, Firmware when I bought it second hand, I had the MST2 _EU_SK_P0253T... And I updated to 367... the error was putting the 478T patch before the update, MST2_EU_SK_P0478T. Thank you. Any solution???

Got  1941 installed at the local Skoda Service 2 days ago. No rebooting since. Before it was several times/hour and also wireless charging stopped all the time. That too seem to be fixed.

May I kindly ask for the 1941 link as well? Thank you!

Thank you so much!

In case anyone else is having trouble applying the update:
- Format a USB stick with a single FAT32 partition (I had an EFI partition and a FAT32 and it would not recognize the update)
- Unzip the contents of the update atchive and copy to stick (Data, Meta and *.ver directly at the root of stick)
- Enter service mode on infotainment (long press on Menu)
- Apply update

Download MOI3_EU_SK_R9410L MU1941

Also, note that MOI3_EU_SK_R9410L MU1941 archive was corrupted no matter how many times I tried to download. I ended up applying MOI3_EU_SK_R9410L MU1941_SK20230615S which worked the 1st try.

I put a guide on how to do the update a few pages back.

Updated this morning and had a couple of 'eek' moments. In case it helps, on reboot the warning sounds about handbrake; when rebooting after CPU update screen appears to freeze and progress bar doesn't move. It does - just takes a while.

Although I didn't have too many reboots (1 or 2 a week), I did have issues where Android Auto wouldn't load so hopefully that will be fixed / reduced.

You shouldn't have any issues with 1941 firmware, after installation, you may get a few minor errors momentarily, whilst the system settles down, you'll pretty much certain to get at least 1 download, possibly 2 (I have now) and the built in manuals probably missing temporarily, they do return. Any others faults are often random in nature and very infrequent. Not had any yet myself.

Sorry! I missed it. A lot of pages here... 😁

In case anyone else missed the guide:

Well 1 week after i got my local dealership to update my car to 1941.

Worked for a week and had 2 crashes today.

1 when I had no mobile signal and it was trying to connect to my skoda to get my settings (god knows why they won't let car store without requiring connection)

And 2nd starting car to move it on drive

Mine`s also rebooting on its own with parking distance error being present on some of those. Also muting sound. Guess same media controller issue.

I've been tracking this thread since I got my `21 Octavia (1.5 TSI e-TEC SE L) and after having had the infotainement replaced once already and booked in yet again to have it replaced (I assume - it's dead again) I've come to the conclusion that the car is a lemon and I'd be better off replacing it now.

This thread is really useful but as the car is still under warranty I'd rather not try "fix" anything myself. I'm also not sure I could update the firmware as the unit itself is dead (and dies again after a couple of minutes if you reset it - probably not enough time to apply the update).

My question is is this an issue across all VW groupd cars as I assume they share parts?  I ask as I'd like to avoid this hassle with whatever we replace it with.

thanks

The hardware is often shared within a group, however it doesn't necessarily mean that you will experience the same issues on an Audi or VW, I was dreading getting my car with all of the posts regarding software problems.

Yet when my car arrived it performed faultlessly bar one occasion when the infotainment system went into a loop and wouldn't respond, then came a download and the reboot issue arose, but since I grasped the nettle and updated the system with 1941, I've not had any issues or problems whatsoever. Been a couple more downloads and no problems still.

So make of that what you want, but I'd give them the chance to completely replace it and see what happens with it. Keep Skoda CS advised that it has been replaced and will be back in contact should it fail again.

Thanks - I appreciate the response.

I really don't want to go through the hassle and expense of a replacement car - but as I say this is the 3rd time we'll be taking it in for this (and the second time they'll be replacing the actual unit). We've also had many many rattles and creaks - they've had to order a replacement door panel as it was poorly made and had to rework the overhead unit because it wasn't fixed properly.

I'd really rather this be fixed but it's been roughly a year of continual issues - this latest failure just feels like the last straw.

What's really annoyed me this time is that the dealer will only see us in a months time - so the actual replacement will be a few weeks after that. In the meantime we don't have aircon control, radio or satnav. The whole experience has just been really poor from the start.

I'm a software engineer so the whole upgrade idea isn't scary but as I say it reboots within 5 seconds. I doubt the upgrade process would prevent this - and again I'm wary to even try as it's still under warranty.

Thanks again - I'll have to see how this latest repair goes.

Had mine updated to 1941 by the dealer a couple of weeks ago; no issues since.

When I dropped it off the reception staff were well aware of the reboot issues, mentioned that I wasn't the only one and that the Master Tech would check the VIN number against the TPI for compatibility before installing it (which makes sense).

Others have mentioned that the system feels more responsive and performs more quickly - and I agree. Previously I felt it was painfully slow at times, but not now.

@MrSafferty I agree with @TheWanderer - hang in there with polite but firm pressure on the dealer to get your car sorted, keeping Škoda Customer Services informed/involved. The Octavia IV is a lovely car, and I can't think of anything out there I'd buy instead (and believe me, I have looked long and hard at times such has been my Octy4 journey over the last couple of years).

That's poor service from your dealer to leave you with a car with such limited functionality. Put pressure on through Škoda UK (escalate it there if need be) to secure a loan vehicle for the duration of the fix. Mine was at the dealers for five months awaiting a fix to be developed, whilst I drove around in a loan car. Yes it was frustrating but the approach of the Dealer and Škoda UK made it acceptable and I felt I was treated pretty well.

Thanks Steve - I think it's the lack of urgency that's really irritated me this time. As you say the car is seriously limited in functionality now and waiting for at least 4 weeks for a resolution is very poor.

Your idea of pushing for a loan car is a good one -  I'll try that. I think I could probably live with this if I had a working car in the meantime.

thanks

Well I've an update on this - my wife called Skoda and according to my kids laid down the riot act. Skoda are sending out an "advanced technician" to see us from 12:30 today.

So the lesson here is to just let me wife deal with these things - she gets things done 🤷‍♂️

My car is going back into the local dealer for them to 'investigate' the constant reboot issue. Is TPI2069590-2 the correct item I need to be quoting for them to update my car? It went in a few weeks ago, they'd claimed they had fixed it, but but hadn't. So I now think I need to be more specific on what they need to look at and apply.

Hi, everyone,
I have a problem with frequent system reboots. Decided to upgrade software from version 1896 to 1941. Started by checking the current software version. It was MOI3_EU_VW_R8960L. As I understand it should be SK version or not?

Now I'm in doubt what firmware file to use for updating, because there are 2 options: 1) MOI3_EU_SK_9410L MU1941 and 2) MOI3_EU_VW_9410L(1941). Also noted that the VW archive file bigger than SK.

Many thanks in advance for any ideas.
