Software failure not so Superb

Featured Replies

@dalbs Who from where have told you it might not be resolved in 2024?

As in what is their job?

Best get them to put it in writing, the statement, their name, their Job Title.

  • Hello from Latvia! I also bought a Škoda Superb L&K 2.0TSI 4x4 (delivered in May 2024). Everything was fine until October 2024 (I drove around 5000 km at that point). I got 7 warnings related to

  • My wife's Superb was updated a week ago on 2nd December and there have been no problems since. She drove 320 miles at the weekend and all was well.   She's finally starting to enjoy the car

  • I got my car back yesterday,  33 miles on, no problems.  I know that is not far, but went wrong after 10 miles when I got it . So, let's hope,  fingers crossed!

I have the same problem with my superb.   It is booked into the dealers so they can have look at it.  This morning I disconnected the + terminal on the battery for 30 mins, then reconnected the terminal this has cleared all the errors and faults, I know they will probably cone back again but nice to drive it as it was again

I've not plugged in my VCDS just in case it causes any warranty issues.  I have however been told now that Skoda are not able to guarantee that the software issues will be resolved in 2024.

An autoscan with any system will not even be detectable. If you start coding that will be detectable but Skoda can hardly blame you for any problems. When they connect your car to the VW mothership to upload new software everything will be reset anyway.

, Acar displaying warning lights will fail the MOT and perhaps invalidate the car’s insurance, therefore the car is unroadworthy.

I dont know the rules in the UK in detail but in Finland these assist warnings wont cause any MOT fails or anything else. In the deep of winter our cars are covered in snow and ice and ofcourse then the camera's and sensors dont work. I had this on my MK3 and fully expect on my MK4 in the next months. Anyways they are bloody annoying so i turn them off anyways every time drive.

However i do agree it has taken them a long time to fix it (not only for the superb but for all cars like the Kodiaq, passat etc. There are two things they need to do:

1. Acknowledge the problem - They have with the TPI (most if not all dealers are usless and dont know about, including mine, but i told him about it)

2. Give a fix indication timeline - This is where they have failed. I work in IT myself and know timelines are indicative but give updates to the people and extend if needed.  But just communicate

this was mid december 2022 just about to go on holland/germany xmass trip. cant expect any of those safety systems to work. Only gets worse in jan/feb. constant errors which are just ignored as part of life. And that is why i will turn them all off in VCDS once warranty and data connection is done.

Best part was the dealer complaining when i gave this car back as trade-in for my L&K 2.0 4x4. We dont have a service history after the warranty time. I just said yes cause you are overpriced and pretty clueless on actual work. "but we cant see it in our systems". I told them  it was serviced and the rest is their problem.

Update:

I emailed the dealer and Skoda Customer service again and requested a refund. The next day the maintenance guy at the dealer called me and said that there is an issue but no fix available yet (same story). However, he did  say that he could reset the system and clear the error. I asked if this was just a a battery disconnect. Instead removed the fuse and reset the system using laptop/software (I called into dealer this morning) .

so far its working...I am about 50 miles from the dealer...no issues on the way home and also with a few runs since.

If it fails again , I will push them again for a full refund.

..such a good car to drive when all systems are working !

Has anyone managed to pin Skoda down to a reliable release date for this software upgrade yet?

Will it be over the air or have to be installed at the dealers?

Will it include any additional 'features' as a form of compensation?

The latest I had from the Executive Office received on Tuesday is:

With regard to the release of the software update required to rectify the issues with your vehicle, until the Škoda Factory provide me with a date that will be released, I cannot provide any further information. Any information that I would be able to provide at this time would be purely speculation on my part and this is not something that I am able to provide.

Someone at Skoda / VW UK is maybe reading this forum and realised 'Honesty is the best policy'

They needed to stop leading people on.

So back to treating as Mushrooms.  'Keep in the dark and shovel with poo'.

For those of you in the  UK who want to express your frustration, annoyance etc, may I suggest you email Mathew Bowden  the director of Skoda  [email protected]

This is a genuine address,  if he is bombarded with emails expressing dissatisfaction,  he might do something.

Is this software failure a problem that affects english cars disproportionately more than other european countries?

I had a browse on the German Skoda site - Skodacommunity. de - and there is hardly any mention of this. Are there people on here that can look through other european Skoda sites?

Or,

Bombard the editorial staff @ Autocar / What Car owned by Haymarket Media Group, deaf dumb and blind to their customer for advertisements, car launches etc.,

or to Auto Express.

BBC Watchdog as well.

There are complaints on this site from Hungary, Romania and Ireland. I have also seen comments on YouTube reviews . There is an official Skoda TPI code (technical product information)., tpi 2075197/3.

New Member here, 2021 Superb IV that I've had from ex demo.

It has been a great car for most of the 3 years and 25,000 miles I have covered in it, then 2 months ago, I started getting all of the Lane Assist and ACC unavailable error messages.  My local dealership have had it back twice for multiple days said they fixed it (recalibrated, checked connections, updated software, etc. etc.) but errors came back immediately both times.  Now they have said that they are awaiting a new software release from Skoda, so bizarrely, it looks like they have introduced new faults via software onto cars that were otherwise fine before...

I'm glad I took out the extended warranty and that it's not just my car that's suffering with the issues.

I have also spoken with Skoda customer services and asked them to confirm to me that this is a software issue and if it is, when can an update be expected?

Regards

Mark

So after Skoda assist visited and acknowledged the issues and sis they are very common my car went into the dealer. Before they could arrange a courtesy car they called me and said about it being a known software fault that they are awaiting a fix for and that Skoda had advised a temporary fix (remove and reinsert a fuse)l. Picked the car up and the errors have stopped, albeit two of them flashed up separately for a few seconds but cleared.

I will see how I get on. If they reappear I will go through the same process and get a nice Enterprise courtesy rent a car (my local depot know me) and leave the car at the dealership and if the software issue isn’t fixed before the 6 month mark I will reject it.

This sounds like a few levels below the briskoda thread, unless there are fewer users with a new SIV on the german site or the briskoda owners ofa SIV are massively exaggerating.

Yep, you nailed it. It's the same on the Czech forum, software issues are not really a topic there (unlike DCC).

But if you look at it, it's actually not that many people here reporting problems as it looks, I'd say they just post a lot.

There's a fix you can try. -> I don't want to try any fix, I want the company to fix it. -> Yes, but that's not happening any time soon. -> Well, then they shouldn't have produced such a car. -> Have they announced a date now? -> No, not yet. -> And how about now? -> No, still not. -> Well, then they shouldn't have produced such a car. -> (repeat)

Thank you for that. More information for my next complaint email ! Skoda have really messed up!

Why do they not say something? Do they hope the problem will go away if they ignore it?

I think you’re spot on. There’s only 21 of us contributing to 7 pages and 170 comments, including contributions from various other countries. I’d imagine there’s another group of people observing but who don’t contribute to this forum as well. So there’s not too many of us affected considering how many Superbs are being sold. Hence perhaps why Skoda are not viewing this fix as much of a priority as we all want and expect.

I have just received this email from Skoda in the Czech Republic:

thank you very much for your email. We deeply understand your frustration. Till these days Skoda have been intensively working on the correction of the software. We are very sorry for the time you have been waiting. Let us explain why it has taken the time. The issue resulted very complex, affected more control units therefore the whole issue required more time than other tests. Now the software is ready. Kindly check the availability of the your preferred workshop for the update.

Thanks for that. It sounds positive.

I am perfectly capable of driving a car without these systems and anyone who is not should not have a licence!
