NEW: software 1985

Featured Replies

I updated with no issues to 1985, one observation that I've noticed in Android Auto is that since it now has the buttons along the bottom rather than down the side, Google Maps no longer displays the newly introduce button for alerting of road works, cameras etc. It only has the space for map settings, audio mute and the compass. I'm assuming this is the case for everyone else, has anyone come across a way to bring it back?

  • Personally, not really in the spirit of the forum to be selling the update file.  Also, with no documentation, or indeed any reference to this update on the web, I would not install it at this point.

  • Just for clarification, in the past I supplied a lot of files for free. The costs that I made then we're not high and I could cover it with other works   However since last year the costs fo

  • I have now sourced the 1985 update package and installed successfully.  Everything seems fine but got a long journey tomorrow which will confirm its stability.  I’ll happily share it FOC over the week

Mine still has the buttons up the side...

Do you mean down the side on Google maps or in Android Auto? I probably wasn't clear enough about that, mine has the maps buttons in a vertical column and the Android Auto buttons in a horizontal row, just like the pictures at the start of the thread.

I am going to play around with AA developer settings to see if I can get it to display all 4 like it did before

In AA settings you can change it to vertical again. The alert button is visible in my case

Thanks, I had previously seen that menu option to enable disable application shortcuts, but took it to mean all shortcuts including the side ones, With it switched off I now have the maps full screen again (without the music controls) and all 4 Google Maps buttons displayed.

It would have been nice to keep some way of seeing and controlling Spotify from the full screen maps, but it's not the end of the world as we have steering wheel buttons which I use most of the time and can change to split screen if I did want that.

Much appreciated.

thanks updated from 1941 no issues

thanks updated from 1969 no issues

Thx!

Got into my car this morning and the update came up on my information OTA . Downloading….

Installed this yesterday with no issues.  Though one minor thing I’ve noticed is I get a notification the manuals have been updated every time I start the car.  I had 4 at one point, cleared them and it just keeps coming back…

Not for me I'm afraid. My car's system is working, I'll leave it alone as these minor glitches keep appearing with other peoples cars.

I had this with the previous update - the solution for me to was to reset the system and log in again using both keys.

That fixed it, cheers 😎

I received this 1985 version as an OTA update.

Car started to tell me a few days before that there was an update for the headunit. It took days/hours of driving while the ~1.6 GB data was finally downloaded - probably the servers were overloaded.

Once it finished downloading and I stopped the car it asked me to confirm upgrading. Then it told me not to drive the car for 30 minutes. Probably it took a little bit less.

Zero issues so far (drove the car 1 hour since then).

My factory version was 1969 (also zero issues).

Do you have the care plan?  I do not and was wondering if the OTA update only happened if you had a plan.

@aki78 has a 2024 model year Octavia. It seems only the much newer Octavias are benefitting from larger OTA updates such as this. I don't think it is related to being subscribed to a care plan.

I'm not sure why earlier vehicles are not receiving the large infotainment updates. There was discussion a while ago that once earlier vehicles were upgraded by dealers to 1941 they too would be able to receive the larger updates OTA. However, the dealer updated my infotainment to 1941 and it did not ever receive 1969, and 1985 hasn't arrived either. I'm not aware of anyone on this forum that's posted to say that they've received an infotainment update OTA. So for whatever reason I think Skoda are not going to ever push the big updates to early vehicles.
