  2. If you don’t mind me asking how are all you taxis doing using the Octavia etecs reliability wise ??
  3. A random thought and could be wrong but wonder if its corrosion or bad connector pin/socket in bottom of engine bay fuse box? Might be making good contact when warm but poor when cold thats not enough to trigger other fault codes but the N522 valve system may be more sensitive. Alasdair
  4. anybody found the solution? I read in another thread that the issue @SkodaLada had, was solved with a relay change. However I dont know which relay to change. I am having exactly the same issue. Already changed battery, checked all the ground cables, fuses and all seems ok. It is an intermittent issue, is happens when driving, sometimes when starting the car. The errors goes away by itself. I have an OBDeleven, I cleared the codes and it comes back.
  5. Yeah it was just to seal it more than anything else. It seems to have done alright, I do it every 2 years or so in various places. It's still very solid though - and ready for me to get it sold now. The red one has been in Scotland since new, and that's not a good climate.
  6. Today
  7. I am attaching my full engine details from OBDeleven I'll check the voltages with OBDeleven. I can easily get the resting voltage (ignition ON) and running voltage after start. I probably won't catch the split-second dip during actual cranking due to the app's refresh rate, but I'll log what I can and post the numbers!
  8. Problem with the stone chip guard it gets brittle and cracks with age then moisture gets trapped underneath. If the rest is solid I would leave it alone. Alasdair
  9. Used febi ones as well and no problems. Put a slight smear of copper grease on bit that fits in hole not the tip for future removal. According to youtube the new bearings should click in place when fully home. I didnt hear anything but they went in as far as the old ones. Took a photo of the old ones in place before removal for reference. Sons were really loud but no play and we only noticed once I finally fixed his blowing flexi exaust. Just got to do front swing arms and bushes now, Alasdair
  10. It could also be voltage related. Warm engine implies recent charging, cold engine implies the opposite. There are about four other devices powered from the same fuse I believe, but would need your engine code to check properly. Maybe one of those other devices is pulling too much current, and causing the whole voltage supply from that fuse to dip too low during a cold start, or something like that.
  11. UK is of the greatest interest to me. Not Australia or the USA or RoW. But there have been areas of the UK very hot this year so far. Maybe that will result in different statistics later this year. Lots of imported BEV,s into the UK from around the globe. & Lots of PHEV,s.
  12. It was only a very short time — just a few seconds. Between step 2 and 3, I turned the ignition off, opened and closed the driver's door, and then immediately turned the ignition back on to run the scan. I will definitely try your suggestion of leaving a full 60 seconds (or more) with the ignition off before turning it back on... Yesterday, I replace the N522 valve once again, just to 100% rule out the possibility that the first new valve installed by the dealership was defective. When I replaced the valve, the engine was fully warm. After installing the new valve and clearing the code, I ran multiple tests and the fault code did not return. However, after letting the car sit for 3 hours to cool down, I turned the ignition back on and the P25AB00 code immediately returned. The issue seames to never occurs when the engine/oil is warm. It only triggers when the system undergoes a true "cold boot" with cold engine/oil parameters. During my lunch break, once the engine has completely cooled down again, I will repeat the full test sequence on a cold engine, including leaving 60+ second gaps between ignition cycles as suggested earlier. I will post the cold-start results as soon as I complete the tests!
  13. I was thinking the same, there's still plenty of them in the US, loads of BESSs over there. So I guess the media have largely given up and waiting for something significant to happen?
  14. How is it going with EV,s on fire in the UK as the numbers on the road or in storage have been growing. There seems to be very little media coverage on this recently. Is it just less of a story or less scaremongering from the usual suspects in the printed press?
  15. Insurance quotes are so different from the various providers. Those advertising Special EV insurance like Admiral can be a ridiculous price. As to Comparison sites. Compare the market, showed me better prices than either Confused.con or Supermarket. Com. This year Ageas has provided me good over at a great price.
  16. As all the owners manuals say for all VW group engines. ' may use more oil in the first 5,000 km'. This can be true with some engines, especially the 1.5 tsi,s. On this forum there have been reports of the models with Digital Checking and no dipstick showing 'Over filled warnings' and this is where the oil in the engine was from the factory or as it was at the PDI before hand over. The same potential Oil use warning has been given for decades now by VW Group.
  17. Checked the level on the digital readout on the screen yes, the car tells you when it needs some, just comparing this car to others ive had over the years, none of which have needed oil between services until the miles have got towards 100,000. As it will be being serviced every 18 weeks or so its regularly being changed anyway.

  19. FYI, there is a for sale section 😂
  20. Yesterday
  21. I found both liftgate grommets broken on my Octavia and suspect them of causing small corrosion on the tailgate and a previous issue with the brake light (water got inside). I want to replace the grommets and assume I first need to remove the interior trim from the tailgate. Since I have zero experience with such work, I would appreciate some advice, or perhaps someone can share official instructions. Thanks in advance.
  22. @Gaz it is time to celebrate 🎉; I actually remembered, and a bit of planning… Up the A34, but I took the B430 just short of the M40 so I had more chance of being able to stop at the right time. About 100 yds before a lay-by the car clicked over to… 😀
  23. Couple of shots from today. Revisited a railway bridge previously snapped and went up to the firth of fourth.
  24. @Rory when stopped in traffic queues or traffic lights a light tap on the throttle released the auto hold. Then I read a post, either in this forum or the Facebook Karoq Owners group, where the poster would manually apply the parking brake having come to a halt at traffic lights with autohold. They did this so rear brake lights were then off. The action to pull away is the same simply press the throttle but I think the parking brake releases slightly quicker and smoother than the auto hold release. Returning to your question about releasing autohold I find the lightest of taps is sufficient to set the car rolling. Maybe it differs slightly between 1.5 and 2.0 TSI engines.

  26. That's exactly what I do.....but, I have auto-hold turned off. Surely if you have it on, the car won't release its brakes and start to move until you touch the accelerator? I turn it off because my previous TC auto didn't have it so got used to driving without it, and in the Tiguan we had before the Karoq, it released the auto brakes with a bit of "thunk" - it was far nicer to let the car creep before getting on the gas.
  27. Yeah, we don't really use them much in the UK. They're far more important on the continent. Right now, the paper CoC (they're watermarked), is the definitive legal document, but they're going digital. What you'll get, will be a PDF of the real thing. The data will all be correct, and useful, but it won't be a legal document. That said, you shouldn't ever need it in the UK. This is what Side 1 of ours looks like. There's lots of nerdy goodness in them! You can see the date on which your car was built, for example, so you know how long it was sat in a field before it was registered. Also which version of Euro 6 emissions it was, and exactly what you can tow with it.
  28. Well I've had a good look at two different versions of the 85 model. One was an SE L, the other was 85 Edition, neither were outstanding, but I had a look inside a Sportline one and that looked better, now will try getting Lookers to remove the MDP & GardX (£1100) from the quotes they've sent me. I can reallocate that to pay for the EV charger, getting that done could be fun my house being a Grade II* listed building! I've been offered the 2,9% PCP with a £3k deposit as a returning customer bonus or 0% loan, the PCP is easier & cheaper to do and I can repay it easily. Or should I do a 100% cash deal, where I'd need to find £20000 (which is more or less what my RS cost me when I did that deal) + another £2k. Just need to get some insurance quotes together to see how much it'll cost me.
