the truth about electric cars
Indeed, more of an OZ, US thing. Chiba seems to be quickly rolling out full electric trucks with no ICE onboard. Perhaps we will get smaller, shorter, lighter unit in Europe.

the truth about electric cars
Yes a bit of a gimmick i suppose. Just makes people think is the plan. UK Solar currently can add add about 6 GW in ideal conditions and time but not at 1800, 1900, 2000 hours, even my tracking arrays are getting much than at 1300 BST, 1200 GMT but I think home solar is adding maybe a GWh at that time. All across the world the amount of home solar and home batteries is growing much quicker that Grid silar farm and BESS plants. Electricity is oft cheaper than the weekdays and has been negative for us tracking tariffs but is not due to be super cheap this Sunday looking at Agike Predict so an hour of free is welcome and I may put 2 or even all 3 EVs on charge whilst keeping an eye on total current draw. Heat water ad well jf enough headroom. Duller days head after this heat wave it is reckoned. May go back to GO night time cheap tariff.

Unable to code STG 09 / BCM and STG 03 / Brakes on Kamiq
Problem solved. When I connected ODIS it auto-identified the car. In the attached screen shot you can see that it says SK37x. But the Kamiq is a SK27x. When I changed this manually ALL controllers were read without issues and coding was a breeze.

Advice on new (to me) 25-plate Scala SE 116 TSI
Yes placing a demand on the steering system will also force the engine to restart. For many many years now, I've bought and fitted a plug in 12V DC voltmeter - Chinese made bought via ebay, having one of them does let you see what is going on wrt the charging voltage, okay these cheap - roughly £5 voltmeters will not be extremely accurate - but in my experience, they are good enough to let you work out things like why the auto stop/start is or is not operational. The battery life of the original EFB battery depends a lot on how the car has been used over its lifetime, for reference (maybe) my wife's August 2015 VW Polo 1.2TSI never had any issues with its original battery, but I had fallen into the trap of "everyone says that these EFB batteries fail quite quickly" so I bought a new "next size up" Bosch AGM battery really to be ready to swop when the original battery failed at an inconvenient time during the winter. Well that just did not happen, so after storing it and "topping it up" every few months, for a "few" years, I ended up replacing the original Exide EFB with this "one size up" AGM when the car was 10 years old. My older daughter has a May 2019 SEAT Leon Cupra, again it has an Exide EFB and when I last tested it with my CTEK battery tester, it still looks very very healthy - which is okay, I'd doubt if she ever disables auto Stop/Start and only connected it to a CTEK charger during Covid lock down period. My younger daughter has a May 2019 SEAT Arona "bells and whistles" version - they badly under use that car and it bit them in as much as they needed to call the AA out to fit a replacement EFB battery after the original Exide EFB became unuseable - that was maybe 3 winters ago.

Since that message, I have had almost no more problems. It's strange. I have an appointment at the Skoda dealership on August 25th; I will keep you updated.

Thanks Cairus I think it does have DAB ( though in the reality that exists here in the mountains, getting FM for a few seconds as I pass a dip in the skyline feels like an achievement ) What is MOST? I have a speaker in each front door -- I'd hesitate to call it a "system" ( though they are connected to a CD head unit that takes up 85% of the glove box leaving only enough room for a medium sized bar of Toblerone™ – meanwhile – there's an aching chasm behind the screen ... )

the truth about electric cars
Sounds great, but I seriously doubt it will take off or even be approved for use in Europe and the UK owing to weight and also possibly length limits on trucks on our roads.

the truth about electric cars
What, are octopuses seriously suggesting that 2 hours of darkness because of the eclipse will mean that their solar farms won't be able to contribute to the grid, so the grid itself is at risk of collapse unless people switch off their power-hungry devices? As a reward for complying, they will give you a free hour on Sunday? Really? In a few more weeks it will automatically be dark at the same time as the eclipse is taking place, and it will be colder, as it will be winter, and those with electric heating will not be using the same power-hungry devices to do washing, cook dinners, etc., and yet we don't normally have power restrictions or get asked not to use power during the hours of darkness. That has set my BS sensors tingling, so what is your position on this then? I think this is a test to see how compliant people are. I'm with OVO, and I have a smart meter, and I have solar, but no batteries, and OVO has not sent me anything asking us to reduce our consumption tomorrow evening during the eclipse???

Dab aerial rns315
Hi. I’ve problem with my dab aerial. It snapped cable in the boot lid. After finding price for new cable I bought dab aerial and followed by manual stick to the windscreen. Cleared error codes caused by factory aerial (dab aerial open circuit). Connected new aerial to the radio. I’ve no reception and on dab. On service mode it shows dab antenna off? Any advice? Does heated windscreen can completely wipe off the reception? Thanks.

waze through bluetooth
Excuse rambling reply, just sharing thoughts in no particular order which may or may not be applicable here. Can see some strange things in the screenshots compared with what I have on my Columbus. First photo is a direct equivalent to your photo 1. In both cases Bluetooth is not greyed out, the only source greyed out in mine is AUX. My 2nd photo is for you info to show when a Bluetooth audio source on phone is actively streaming to Columbus My 3rd photo is equivalent to your photo 2. In my case all 4 sources are shown ready to use CD, SD card, built in hard drive and Bluetooth. Again, to my eyes, you Bluetooth button is exactly the same as mine and not greyed out. What is definitely different to mine is AUX input is active. Do you have anything plugged into that, even just the adapter they offer to connect the socket in centre console cubby hole under armrest to e.g. old fashioned iPods? I wonder if you can't have AUX active and play back Bluetooth? Disconnect that so AUX is greyed out like mine and try Bluetooth again My Bluetooth module (under driver's seat) occasionally throws a wobbly and locks the Bluetooth link so it's active but no data can go either way. That's sorted by either power cycling the Bluetooth module (pull plug from socket) or after car is powered down and locked for more than a few minutes (after which I assume the Bluetooth module is powered down anyway to save 12V battery and so you essentially power cycle when you next unlock and start the car). So won't be your problem. But the Columbus could maybe do with a soft reset. Have to simultaneously press and hold the left and right arrow keys on left of CD slot and the mic button on far right of the CD slot. Doesn't delete any data, just the equivalent of Ctrl Alt Del on a PC to do a full shutdown and restart. I assume Bluetooth calls work fine? Have you tried streaming music from phone via Bluetooth? Does that work? Have you tried another phone? If you Google the phrase Waze Bluetooth car audio, there's a Google help article as first Non-AI suggestion that makes a suggestion of how to route Waze audio to car rather than phone speaker. And maybe later suggestions might help. Hopefully some of above is of use

VRS Mk1 crankcase ventilation system
No problem, Your quite right a lot have moved on to other cars including myself. I couldn't sell the Vrs as I have a soft spot for the old girl. Regarding the catch can, make sure the one you eventually buy has a drain **** fitted, they fill up with a mixture of oily water especially in winter (condensation). Here is a vid you might enjoy, some Brisky guys went to Germany for drive on the Nurburgring, enjoy !!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZLYxljogZH0 Good Luck

Towbar help
Next best alternative I think would be someone like towsure and get an aftermarket removable one. You can get aftermarket pop out ones too.
