  2. Hi, I've had a Scala SEL 1.5 DSG from new (2025), not long after having it I started to little noises when moving off from a standstill. At first it sounded like wheelspin and nothing major. The dealership looked and said they couldn't find anything wrong or hear any noises. A few months later the noises had progressed to a noticeable, but intermittent, jerk when moving off from stationary, again the garage looked and said no fault found. Later again the jerk was then appearing not just on moving off but when coming to a stop as well (but still intermittent) and the noises were getting louder, and of note if I switched to manual and did the gears there wasn't a problem. The garage had a look and again no fault found but when I played back some dashcam footage where the noise could be heard the technician said it could be the mechatronics unit. So it was booked in for a diagnostic and adaptation reset, that was was done and for 2 weeks the car was fine. The issues re-appeared after a couple of weeks but when I've spoken to the garage they refused to do anything other than a diagnostic the fact that the adaptation reset had fixed the issue for 2 weeks didn't count for anything, didn't narrow it down or affect the diagnostic in any way. After the next diagnostic they said they could hear the noises now but it was characteristic of the car. Fast forward a few more months and during a trip to France and it got to the point were I was having jerky take offs/stops more than not, very loud bangs when moving off and a new fault starting to appear in that while moving at low speed the car would feel like its about to stall (again intermittent). What I then found as well that when switching to manual and doing the gears myself I was now getting noises if not jerks when changing between first and second and this was consistent with every gear change. I went back to the dealership and did a test drive with a technician who listened to the noises particularly in manual and said it sounded like chatter in the gears and they'd need to look at it. So it was booked in again but when it went in they had a second technician (the master technician) look at it and they've said no fault found chatter in first and second is normal for a car. I then took it to a second dealership who didn't look at it, they took it for a drive and said the noises are normal (no jerks on the test drive) and said there was no point in them looking any further. I'm at a loss now on what to do, I can't accept that jerks when moving off/stopping or chatter between gears are normal behaviour for a car and the noises keep developing and getting louder which to me if that were "characteristic of a vehicle" they would have been there from day one and they wouldn't be intermittent or change over time. I've driven many vehicles in relation to work including, skoda's audi's bmw, vw, ford and mercedes to name a few and not one of them has made noises or behaved like this. Has anyone else had similar experiences or issues and how've they gone about getting them fixed?
  3. You might find that a 195/55R16 6Jx16 ET45 also fits, so it's worth trying one if that's the size that's on the car. As you can see in the first chart below, the outside diameter of the 185/65R15 and 195/55R16 tyres is almost identical. As you can see in the second chart below, a 195/55R16 fitted to a 6J rim has an actual inflated width that is 12mm more than a 185/65R15 fitted to a 5.5J rim. Bear in mind that the "185" and "195" that you see on the tyres' sidewalls are simply the nominal sizes, whereas the actual inflated width of a tyre always depends on the width of the rim to which it is fitted. As you can see in the third chart below, the rim for the 195/55R16 has 5mm more offset than the rim for the 185/65R15. This might help the tool kit to sink 5mm down into the spare wheel well, compared to if the offsets were the same. If so, the top of the tool kit will only be 1mm higher with the 195/55R16 6Jx16 ET45 wheel fitted compared to the 185/65R15 5.5Jx15 ET40 wheel. Outside diameter of tyre 185/65R15 621.5mm 195/55R16 620.9mm Actual inflated width of tyre (measured from sidewall to sidewall, at the widest point) 185/65R15 fitted to 5.5J rim 189mm 195/55R16 fitted to 6J rim 201mm Offset of the rim 185/65R15 ET40 195/55R16 ET45

  5. Double quotation marks and english written almost perfectly which means it's not my text. This was 100% mine: I have paid for ECU programme, i went another time for an update, another time for damaged ECU and install a used, another time to replace that one and install another unit which also paid extra for a whole new programme. Many aftermarket filters and many tries to bring extra fresh-air inside, extra work on the air filter box. Custom exhaust from A to Z,new metallic catalyst converter which i removed after some year and paid for a stock one, extra money for the pipes because from the lambda sensor and after were 3mm wider and not 100% proper bend so i had to replace them (from both of these i lost power in low-medium rpm), extra money for better muffler than the stock (i have changed 3 all these years). Extra money for aftermarket suspension, strut brace,anti-roll bar etc. If i was a guy who wanted a car just to move in a City normally i wouldn't involved in any modification because the cost would be enormous and the gain very small, does not worth the money and the time. My father had a reasoning in his car: «Leave it as is» and compared to me he saved lot of money and had far more quiet days with no worries than me.
  6. Isn't there a part number visible on the surface the key flips closed onto?
  7. My original 3 button keyfob has stopped working despite putting in a new battery. None of the 3 buttons work. I see on Aliexpress that they sell cheap Superb keyfob replacements and I want to give it a try and order one, but I need to know the part of the thing. Can anybody tell me the part number of this keyfob? :-)

  12. Ever such an interesting article in this week's Autocar magazine. One of their journalists took his E-Class, or more accurately... Mercedes-Benz E450D 4Matic AMG Line Premium Plus Estate .....doesn't it just roll off the tongue, from the UK to the northern tip of Denmark, Jutland. I enjoy Autocar Magazine as the articles are a little deeper than AutoExpress. He loved his car and, reading the article, I can understand why. This is what these 6cyl diesel estates were made for - pan Euro mile munching. But I couldn't help asking myself the question about the law of diminishing returns as I finished my read with his question: "Is there a better car for the job?" If money were no object, both the initial purchase, the £190ph labour charges plus complexity and expensive parts, then the answer is as he replied: "I think not. Bravo, Mercedes." But with a list price of £90,770 it dawned on me that this German rocket ship is almost twice as expensive as my newly acquired Superb TSI 265PS 4x4 L&K. I have driven at 130mph on unrestricted German autobahnen and, as the journalist noted about his 155mph stint, the mental load is huge. You scan the dots on the horizon knowing that any middle lane hog who pulls out into Lane 3 is a potential hazard to life and limb. Plus, you can visibly see the needle on the fuel gauge moving to empty. I once found myself allocated a desk next to the Fleet Manager of my employer. She was a dragon from the Kingdom of Fife, but she took a shine to me and would slide the keys of whatever demonstrator she had been gifted for the weekend. A Suburu Impreza STi was one car I was keen to hand back on the Monday, before we destroyed each other (the car and me, not the Fleet Manager). It was then that I learned how there is a point at which fast, is fast enough. I discovered briefly on the A7 southbound that our Superb can dispose of a convoy of traffic without any drama or delay. You're out, past and back in rapidly without any fuss. One test of whether one loves the car is whether we relish the opportunity to embark upon another lengthy journey. And yes, I am. The journey back from Windsor to Scotland is just a couple of days away. Jutland? No, my goodness that Danish peninsular was hideously tedious on our 2014 journey to Urke, Norway. The Scottish Borders? That'll do just nicely thanks. Best wishes. Have a happy Thursday, Arianne. Alnwick, Northumberland. October 2026.
  13. Any new links to 1989, ive tried all on here and none are working please
  14. Tell replied to RodDuggan's topic in Skoda Karoq
Think you have a typo amundsen. Same update file if we are talking mib3. Not Garmin... those files are prepped from Here Maps material under contract either in house or not. The old mib2 I did find who was doing their work once. Same Here maps cartography. Proper navigation company unlike Google. With connected services in Europe if cough up its all done for you otherwise you have to get it 100% right like the old mib2 high. No slip, slap handling of the files 🤣.
  15. Hopefully just a blip. Had random problems with my old octavia cluster and removing, cleaning contacts and reseating cured it. Alasdair
  16. I have the Edmundson system and have found it 1005 useless . complained to Skoda and after six visits they took another car out same system. "Oh its a Garmin problem not Skoda so case closed.1 I did tell them I was not happy and they supplied the car so still theres. I was told to leave the map update in the usb slot on one update but not on my 2nd update bit odd.

  18. Hello @pab567, I have a Skoda Columbus RNS 510 stuck in a boot loop (Skoda logo appears, then the unit restarts). My unit details: Part number: 3T0 035 686 N Hardware: H27 Software: 6276 Version: C14 I tried an older Josi firmware, but the update fails with error 010306. Could you please send me the download link for RNS510-6276-Update-VIM+Tm_60_35_5.iso? Thank you very much for your help!

  20. Hi Ords, unfortunately I'm having problems with this. Initially I was unable to copy the folders to the SD card due to 'no disk space'. Which I've managed to sort (including having to delete unneeded Ukraine map data). I deleted the 'Dbinfo.txt' and 'Markets' on the original SD card. And have copied the same from the unzipped portal dload on to the SD card. Now when trying to update in the car SD slot, it's not reading the files. Do I need to copy the contents of the map data folder directly onto the SD card? There are also drop down subfolders within the main folder though, aren't they all required for the update too?
  21. So I went and got an Exide AGM EK720 total cost was €195 + an OBDEleven pro subscription, coding went fine, looks like the battery may have been replaced before as the amperage was wrong was set to 68ah instead of the 70ah fitted, the serial number was set 1111111111, the manufacturer was set to JCB but that's not much of a concern as the manufacturer that was fitted was ERA and is not on the VW OEM list.
  22. It all seems to be working now so thanks
  23. Glad you found and hopefully cured the problem. As for text changing no idea but it happens to me as well?? Alasdair
  24. Folks old fabia 1.9tdi estate bxe had a soild flywheel from factory. From memory it needed a specific clutch with longer softer springs that act as dampers. It may be that it hasn't bed in yet but wonder if the wrong one was fitted with stiffer springs. Check the gearbox mount and dogbone has been tightened as well as drive shafts and also check for wear in mounts and bushes. Alasdair
  25. That's nice and all, but I simply asked you to not repost AI outputs, because it's factually wrong and low-effirt that does more harm than goodm And since AI takes most of its knowledge from the Internet, it will end up in another model and spread the nonsense further. It's different I don't have personal experience, but on paper, the difference will be most noticeable beyond 3000RPM. And I know a lot of Felicia drivers just don't do that. The gearbox would be probably more noticeable during normal driving (going from 3.833 10S to 4.118 14SK adds around 13% of torque to wheels, at the same wheel speed and adds ~500RPM engine speed), especially in the city. Though, to be honest, back in the day, I swapped gearbox in my 50kW Felicia for pre-fl one (136M 10S, around 250RPM less on 5th) and I didn't really notice a difference, but that may be because the 10S gearbox has better spacing between the gears, compared to the newer 14SK type. @D.FYLAKTOS I simply asked you to not copy&paste chatbot outputs, because it's often factually wrong, always low effort and does more harm than good. It's fundamentally different from using the AI yourself. This provides no way to check the original sources (if there are any) and instead ends up cited as a source for another unfortunate person who tries to ask AI for a similar info. So please. Just. Don't. Do. That. If you simply stated YOUR opinion it'd be more useful. I agree, with that it's not worth it. A 40kW in good shape is better than a beaten 50kW.
  26. Finally got to the bottom of the issue with the water ingress. 2 problems, first being the actual sunroof drain hose connector is loose on the spigot, so jubilee clip hopefully solved that and it should`nt now be able to pop off anytime. Second issue is the sleeved worm drive for the sunroof (blue arrow) as there was a lot of water coming out of there too so some automotive sealant applied and will see what happens tomorrow once it`s fully cured. Now for the fun part, putting everything back together.... and why does my text keep going all weird halfway through typing????
  27. If the digital is ok then I reckon ABS/speed sensors are working. It may be a failing speedo in cluster. From memory its a tiny little motor that drives needle or perhaps cluster needs connectors cleaned and refitted. If removing cluster remember to disconnect battery first. Alasdair
  28. Good luck with it. Just got my sons mk1 1.2htp through another MOT Only advisory was tyre worn on one edge. Had to do the front Console bushes etc which wasnt easy to get the bolts out but not bad for a 20 year old car. I love driving it. They are excellent cars with a lot more room inside than others. Alasdair
  29. Good morning guys how's everyone doing, alasdair the info you last shared appears to be rock solid even though, like you, that's wayyy above my area of expertise, and I'm in agreement with you regarding AI , even though it hasn't failed me as yet. At present (ALL) of the recommended part(s) aftermarket for my car has been through AI, so I'm greatful thus far for the guidance, normally this would've been a rather stressful journey to search the web for companies who do stuff for our cars yuh know...anyways back to the main point, I'm very determined to pursue this guidance from you Alasdair1, as I'm not parting ways with my machine, love these little cars very much , from day one. I'm of the opinion that they're person's in Barbados who can sort me out ,it's just a matter of finding them, at the appropriate time I'll share findings as things progress Would be beneficial to the community 👍👍
  30. Gentlemen, to return to the topic, I've not driven a 40kw LX version before, so I don't know how noticeable the difference between it and my 50kw LXi truly is. Would any of you have that experience? In that light would swapping an intake from a 50KW motor provide any benefit? I wonder if I can make smaller changes rather than engine swaps / overhaul, which, as has been noted, is illegal here. To sum up I'm thinking about buying an LX model Felda in a colour I prefer to the flat white my current car is, and part of the consideration is will a 40KW motor be as enjoyable in a light 'city runner' as what I have now?
  31. Swapping is illegal in the majority of cases in GR. Is not my post and only a blind could see it because i write exclusively based in Greek Grammar-Syntax (by the way these are Greek words) ,i do it in purpose and the text isn't. No logical man will ask AI ''should a take the A medicine or the B from internet for cancer?" or ''should i do heart surgery or leave it as is?" but let my give you a characteristic example: a friend of mine want to install Led bulbs in his 40 years old motorcycle and in forums when asked he read posts from ''i don't know-sigh...first time i hear such a joke-do you really have an old motorcycle and you haven't bought a new as i did? don't do it won't work-ha,ha are you serious?" etc or just nobody replied to him, i suggest him to ask the AI just to get an idea because you can not rely 100% on it in crucial matters. He did it, the AI not only suggest to him a simple modification to do in the harness, the specific type of bulbs that needed and pay attention do not buy other design and some other things for the voltage regulator rectifier that no one told him about when he asked. The result? He got rid off the halogen bulb, installed Led, saved many W from the whole electrical system, can see better and the other drivers pay more attention to him at night. All i did what to give a suggestion from what i have found and let me remind you that few years back we had"The other guy" with an attitude: ''do as i told you-What? you ask for further analysis? i know better i am expert your opinion doesn't count-What? you didn't follow my instructions? so i am not talk to you any more-you are now by your own here". What the gained? He argued with bad manners with 99% of the members, caused nothing more than problems in every topic so now that he is away no one is remember him. @keywacat after all this fuss (which i had the prediction that will be continued) what's your decision? You will buy a cheaper 40Kw engine and then pay to make it 50Kw or you will go straight to 50Kw. PS: from my humble experience you need a lot of money lot of money and time in ECU programming-air filter, new air induction-whole exhaust system to get some HP on Felicia.
  32. Using a 185/65 R15 when the rest of the wheels are 195/65 R16 is as much use as a space saver, ie limited speed and distance. No way do I want to do a regular york > Woking trip on a space saver! The car this replaced, a Citygo had a full sized spare as did an earlier Peugeot 3008. Why do car makers assume that we only make short journeys or live within short distances of a decent tyre dealer open 24/7. Madness. And for those interested the last time I had a puncture it was on a Sunday morning heading to the port ahead of a holiday in France. Luckily, I had a full sized spare.
