Kodiaq MIB3 – unable to add a second user
I’ve recently bought a 2023 Kodiaq and have been having some odd issues with the infotainment/Škoda Connect user accounts. Initially, I had trouble getting my own Škoda ID to log in properly. I contacted Škoda Support and they had to refresh/reset something on the backend. After that, I was told to take the car for a drive (to get things going?!), and following the drive everything started working and I was able to log in and become the primary user. However, I’m now trying to add a second user (my wife), and I can’t get it to work. Her Škoda ID works in the MyŠkoda app, but when I try to activate her as a user in the car I get various errors, including “Your user account is incomplete” and “Sorry, activation failed. Please try again later.” Sometimes I get “Currently unable to load the required data. Please try again later.” I’ve also created a completely separate second Škoda ID using a different email address, and that fails in exactly the same way. My own account continues to work perfectly as the primary user. I've set all the accounts up in exactly the same way via the app. The only oddity is that my account shows Country: United Kingdom, whereas the two accounts that won't activate show Country: --. I'm not sure whether that's significant or simply because those accounts aren't associated with the vehicle. Also, those two accounts don’t have an S-PIN enabled but when I try to reset the S-PIN through the app, I get an “Apologies… Unfortunately we cannot complete your request right now” error. Škoda Support were helpful at first but now appear to have given up. They are saying they believe the problem is hardware-related and are recommending that I take the car to an authorised Service Partner for diagnosis. I’m reluctant to do that at this stage, particularly if I'm going to be charged £150–£200 just to diagnose something which may actually be an account/backend or software issue. Has anyone else experienced this, particularly the “Your user account is incomplete” error when trying to add a second user? And did you eventually get it resolved without a dealer visit?

PS. Why have a story on Diesel & show a green PETROL Pump? This is the UK with black pumps for diesel not the USA.

Lets forget who is feeding THE TIMES stories be that 'Insiders' or LABOUR PARTY 'Communications staff'. Lets hear from The Horses mouth, which ever Secretary or Minister of State is 'The Horse'. Let them tell 'The House' first and not leak stories.

You're right, this is pure clickbait; diesel is going to be around in huge volumes for many years to come for all of the reasons already mentioned.

Fabia 130 review after 1000 miles
Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum and new to Skoda. I wanted to post this review to help others - I found a lot of the car journos to be very dismissive of the Fabia 130 and couldn't find anything about the car from real owners other than the odd comment on YouTube and on here. After 1000 miles driven in my Fabia 130, I've found it to be a fantastic all-rounder, which was just what I was looking for. I have had many hatchbacks over the years, Renault Clios, Ford Fiestas, a Mazda 3, Hyundai i10, Toyota Yaris and I wanted something that was sporty and fun but also practical and with good tech and want to say that the Fabia ticks every box. If you read reviews from Carwow, Auto Express, Whatcar they say that it isn't a hot hatch and isn't fast or fun enough, which is true, but Skoda has never claimed it to be a hot hatch, it's a special edition, tuned Fabia Monte Carlo - go into it with that mindset and you will love it. Pros It handles very well - it feels light on it's feet, grips well and in sport mode the steering is weighty and responsive. The seats are incredible - more comfortable than my Mazda 3 which I did a few trips around the UK in. The car is loaded with tech if you option it well and just about everything you need is included as standard. The Winter Premium pack is a must in my opinion for those misty/frozen mornings, and a heated windscreen is something I have missed since owning a couple of Fords. The infotainment is good, not outstanding but I am happy to sacrifice blazing performance for good buttons and easy-to-use menus, which the Fabia has. The steering wheel buttons are a particular highlight, everything you need is there and being able to switch through menus in the virtual cockpit and switch off ADAS systems with a couple of button presses is a breath of fresh air these days. Cons There are some minor software glitches that are more irritating than anything - the radio station will randomly swap on starting the car for me, no idea why but it's such a bizzare quirk I don't know why it's not been fixed in an update The engine note is dreadful - akin to a herd of cows than anything sporty. At high revs it resonates throughout the car with a drawn out groan. Again, it's not a hot hatch but better sound deadening or a proper exhaust note would go a long way! Most of the HVAC controls are easily reachable with physical buttons, but there are a couple of things (heated windscreen and the temperature sync between the two zones) that are only accessible in a menu on the touchscreen. Strange. If you are using Android Auto for Google Maps (and I assume Apple CarPlay) you can't have your navigation on the virtual cockpit - if you want a zoomed out view on the main infotainment screen and a zoomed in view on the virtual cockpit for seeing close junctions and directions, you have to use the default Skoda navigation system, which is good, but it's an oversight. Overall, I'm very happy with the car - the price was a steal, I got it for £8,000 off list in July, and it's loaded with options. Unless you really do not want anything sporty, it's a no brainer to go for the 130 over a Monte Carlo in my opinion. I decided on this over the Polo GTI because of the option to have a heated windscreen, premium sound system and heated steering wheel which, strangely are not even options on the Polo. Plus I like the understated nature of a Fabia. If you want something out and out fast, look elsewhere, but if you want a good blend of practicality and space, sportiness, good looks and good tech, be sure to look at one. If any prospective buyers have any questions, I'd love to answer them, or if there are any other 130 owners here, let me know your thoughts on the car.

the truth about electric cars
The Times reports that UK is close to imposing similar Anti Dumping additional customs duty to full EVs that the European Union does which is in addition to the 10% Ad Valorem usual customs duty. This would not apply to PHEVs or HEVs. Not seen a break down of Chinese car imports BEVs v PHEVs v HEVs but as Chinese made cars make about a quarter of cars sold in UK it would affect tens of thousands of cars potentially sold each month and the bill per car would be about £2k to £4k per car so an extra few tens of millions of pound per month extra revenue for UK government. BEV sales would probably slow a bit and HEV and PHEV increase which would be against the UK's carbon lowering agenda but keep UK revenues from diving quite so quickly due to Excise taxes maintaining and VAT on fuel sales. SAIC cars ie MG, Maxus BEVs etc woukd be worst hit with BYD least if memory serves. Click bait from Upgrader website but seen this before as diesel sales dwindle especially in big cities like London where EV operation is higher than in the countryside.....

Fitting twin horns
Just seen the wiring diagram and noticed that the horns are solidly grounded and have a switched supply. They probably have seperate grounds so that at least one horn will still work if a ground connection is corroded. You can still just wire the new one across the original, if you have one with the right note. You could also do as you have done before and just replace the the single horn with a twin pair using the single horn wiring. The wiring from the relay is only 1mm squared and that is for two horns so Skoda are happy with the volt drop in the cable.

Fitting twin horns
Thanks, that's what I've always reasoned in the past to get rid of the beep-beep horns. Even mains plug fuses won't blow at their rated current unless they get it for about 30mins.

VW Caddy mk2 (Felicia) Pick-Up 1.8T
I cannot be 100% certain that there is no combination of 14" wheels and spacers which would fit over the 280mm discs and Mondeo ATE callipers, but I do not know of any car which has discs that size and runs on 14s. It is probably fair to assume that 15" wheels are a minimum requirement.

Turn off electric range in Navigation
Thank you That is where it is. I don't think it is very clear in the User Manual and I find the stupid little electric charge icon looks very like a fuel pump! Many thanks.

Amazed Skoda has become so BAD..
My 1.5 DSG bought new in March seems fine both on the flat and going uphill. It acts the same as my Kamiq 1.5 DSG that I've had for 4 years. Only thing I do find with both is that on hills with bends and varying grades it can change too frequently so I tend to use sport mode which evens that out.

Coilovers suggestions?
Welcome. there is a good and long thread on Modifying mk3,s in the Fabia MK,3 section. Pretty sure also pretty much the same question as yours asked more than once. Worth a key word search. The Fabia project section worth a look as well.

Experiences in retrofitting Superb mk3.5 steering wheel to Octavia mk3.5?
Good morning... both vehicles—the Octavia 3 facelift and the Superb 3 facelift—are built on the standard MQB platform. The steering wheel and airbag are a direct fit for the Octavia 3 facelift. However, there is one difference: with the new steering wheel design, Škoda removed the "Menu" button, meaning you can no longer access the onboard computer menu on the Octavia 3. I developed a custom module for this that intercepts the hex code sent to the vehicle's CAN bus and transmits the correct code instead. I could source all the parts and build a ready-to-use, plug-and-play adapter for you; you would just have to handle the installation and the steering wheel swap yourself.

Retrofit BCM Problems
Connect the old BCM—it doesn't matter if Component Protection (CP) triggers. Create a backup using the VC tool, connect the new one, transfer the backup using the VC tool, and purchase a stock dataset if necessary. That’s how I would try it. If it was just about expanding the color range, an update would have sufficed.

CTHE/CAVE Engine...Whats the diffrence?
Flying by to say that after about 10 months since I bought the car and roughly 5 since engine swap began, it is finally on the road awaiting registration paper (local bureaucracy thing). I had some issues as is with any big work, but nothing that's related to putting CTH in previously CAV driven car, things like a leak here and there or mistake during assembly. It's worth mentioning that I have final stock CAV software ver.9971 Engine managed to complete all readiness codes. Pulls like it should both on compressor and turbo. Anything that I logged was within specification. No overheating, no undercoolling, no exhaust noise, no misfires, no smoke, fuel consumption within expectation, no rattles or knocks. What remains is a bit lumpy idle on cold weather starts due to NGK BKR7EIX plugs. It did noticeably improve after running full 45 liters of fuel with pulse gt injector cleaner which I opted to run because injectors were used with unknown past. Second thing is I had twice p0420 catalyst system efficiency below threshold (mind you, after successful readiness). At first I thought it's an exhaust leak on cheap FA1 clamp, but no, second error was with pipes done by the book. Right now I'm thinking it might be aftermarket diverter valve with flat orings, but that doesn't fit the picture much. Alternative suspect is secondary O2 sensor with 170'000kms on it. My Renault Megane mk1 also had O2 trolling around constantly but not setting codes so I'm willing to guess a lazy sensor can be good enough for self-test but not for normal operation. Took me for ever to get around making a log of O2 sensor, I have about 2 hours of it but as luck would have it, with lackluster cheap scanner instead of VCDS. I'd like to post a photo, but there isn't any obvious CTH feature to show when it sits in engine bay.

Long coding for ECU 03 Brake Electronics Skoda Fabia 2011.
It just so happens I've been through this nightmare not long ago and buddy you're in for a headache. You might have it stored on VCDS or OBD scanner from previous reads, in history. I think full scan on VCDS does also list details. Option 2 is call stealership and talk to them about recovering code from VIN, but I do not know how this goes, and I'm certain it ain't gonna be cheap. Option 3 is NOT recommended, to suffer with AI and keep asking correct answers VERY VERY meticulously and then triple or quadruple check what it gave you. Part of the code is from VIN digits so you have to have it. Part of it is simply your car being Skoda Fabia 2011 but rest is gearbox, differential, traction control and you might brick those electronics. It took me 4 hours. I bricked chinese vcds cable, and had to correct "final" code about 12 times with advanced LAUNCH scanner. Good news is, that said LAUNCH kept me safe from few incorrect codes and it had correct security code written into it.

Octavia vrs 21 plate front disc size?
Unless it's a hybrid, it should be 340/310. It'll be 340 up front regardless, and the 310 are vented, while the 272 are solid. Easy.

About to buy Octavia vRS
The vRS 245 is a GTI PP, so in addition to the DSG (DQ250 at 40k, DQ381 apparently 80k, but realistically 40k too), the LSD will need to have been serviced too (every 30k).
