  2. And some subtle RacingLine goodness @MarioVrs I see your dipstick and raise you air con caps: Before:
  3. Rear bumper replaced with rough and ready replacement. Painting is a 2027 project.
  4. Have a slight light creaking going on somewhere behind the dash and think I noticed it’s from that central vent piece too! Driving round holding bits to see if I can make it stop or exacerbate and I think this is it. So that and the classic sunroof will get rid of most of my interior noises. Still gotta read up on the sunroof one - sit in the back and pull it down or something! Good work on the speakers and MIB too - car’s in much better shape than when you bought it!
  5. Been using GT radial FE2 and GT radial all season. Mid priced tyre and so far been excellent. Have them on my Octavia MK2 and sons Fabia mk1. Good in dry and wet plus all season excellent in wet as well. Been getting discount if ordered online through tyre service I use. £15 off for two and £40 off for four. Working out after discount at around £75 fitted (205/55/16) Alasdair
  6. The digital time clock on my infotainment system is stuck at 00:00 midnight, except for a brief switch to 06:28 every half minute or so. It's not uncommon, and other streams here (and Google searches elsewhere) have indicated that's it's fixable via a firmware upgrade, either through a specialist or a main dealer (both very expensive routes), or DIY via a patch that can be sourced from here. Whoever can help, I'd be very grateful!
  7. I had a similar issue with a Polo, only one side lit & poor levels. I did try an LED replacement which was a bit brighter, but still on the wrong side. I was negotiating a low wall on the offside & the bulb was on the nearside. Only effective solution I found was to light the wall with a solar powered light. So maybe look at lighting the drive, although that's obviously no help elsewhere...

  9. Finally got a rear bumper on the car with the Reiger diffuser attached. It’s unpainted and I think new on that basis, although looks rough as has no doubt been kicked around a warehouse for years but painting will have to wait for now.
  10. Good morning I have a 25 plate VRS (petrol 261 bhp) estate. I recently drove down and back up from Glasgow to London. 4 adults on board, with their luggage. I got a displayed average mpg of 44mpg. In economy mode with the suspension set to comfort. I hope this helps.
  11. Can anyone help me with the part number for the S3 Estate rear wiper arm? It is a 2015 Business Estate. The end of the arm split when the wiper blade supplied proved to be too wide. The plastic arm is 300mm centre to end and has the locating cut out 270mm. Overall length is 320mm. It takes a 15mm wiper arm insert which is 16 inch long . The arm slldes down the arm on two shoulders and clicks into the cut out. All the wiper arms I can find have a metal(?) rod at the end which the blade clips into.
  12. At 22,000 miles it’s time for the first tire change on my Fabia MK4 1.0 TSI. From the factory, the car came equipped with Continental Eco 6 tires in size 195/55R16 V 91XL. I’m looking for something "soft" and compliant that can absorb bumps on poor road surfaces and warm up quickly. In short, I want something focused on comfort and a quiet ride. Tread life is of little concern to me as the car only covers about 5,000 miles per year and i always replace the tires every four years due to aging (the Greek summer sun is unforgiving), even though they always have plenty of usable tread left. I’d welcome your experiences and recommendations.
  13. So i have been by car repair shop. They did not find anything wrong. They say thats normal for dq381 7 speed transmission… I dont know… Have someone here to test superb 2.0 tdi 147kw with dq381? Just drive stengt foward in 2,3 gear 15/40 kmh and releas the acelerating pedal completly for two secound and then pres it again. Is there a clunk nois somewhere front (radio off). Can somebody here pleas test it for me? Manny thanx

  15. Episode 44. A mod to fix a leak and more road testing, A surprise at the end.
  16. You're not imagining it, they're poor on the Kamiq. First thing worth checking is whether yours lights up on both sides when you select reverse. On a lot of these the reversing lamp is only on one side and the other side is the rear fog, so you're working with one 16W bulb. Options people have tried: 1. LED bulb in place of the standard one. It's a W16W wedge bulb (the Skoda part is N10591501). A decent LED is a big improvement, but cheap "CANBUS error free" ones often still throw a "check reversing lights" message because the car sees the low current draw. There's a thread on here (Change reversing light bulbs to LEDs, Kamiq section) where owners got round it either with better quality bulbs or by coding that bulb as LED with OBDeleven or Carista. 2. Make sure whatever you fit is plain white and properly seated. Reversing lamps are part of the MOT on anything first used from September 2009, and one that's not working or showing the wrong colour is a major fail. 3. If it's really the drive that's the problem rather than the light, rear parking sensors or a camera might be the better spend, as even a good LED only lights a short way behind. I'd try one decent LED first and see if it's enough before going further.
  17. Switching on the rear fog light will probably help. Modern reversing light theory appears to be biased more towards being just an indicator to other drivers.

  19. Couldn’t see / smell anything under the bonnet. Did have a look. Fuel cap area is the strongest smell
  20. That is quite possible - but see also my other post.
  21. Critical! If TSI, check the front of engine beneath inlet manifold for any sign of fuel leakage.

  23. Now that it gets dark earlier, I've discovered how shockingly bad the reversing light is on my wife's Kamiq, Reversing down my narrow drive is tricky in the dark, especially when it's raining and I had to keep tapping the brake to see where I was going. Has anyone found a solution or way to improve things?

  25. You just need a brave pill, you're just prising two plastic pieces apart & they're not brittle. Maybe resort to a screwdriver for the first time, as it will give you more leverage to push the cover up. This is a rough sketch of how the cover sits on the fob. So you need to exert enough force for the "claw" on the cover to snap past the lip they sit on. The "catch" referenced by @NottsIan is a bit of a misnomer IMO. What that method does is push the edge of the cover away, so that the leading edge of the "claw" can be eased over the lip. Kind of a "starter for 10", but the rest of the edge still needs to be snapped free. But worth a try if you're still struggling. As I've said a couple of times now, the first time is the hardest & will require the most force. Once it's popped that first time, subsequent opening will be easier.
  26. Is it manual or electric. On my sons mk1 its manual and his is loose. Mirror glass keeps dropping after a while. If its manual it could be that the cables have seized or come loose and kinked. Not sure if they are repairable but worth removing and checking it out. I reckon cheapest option if its damaged would be a second hand one off ebay or scrap yard. Alasdair
  27. Alvin600 I now see that I got the car ownership back to front ! I did look beforehand at your respective forum Profiles, and yours says that you own a 2025 Monte Carlo (hence 1.5litre motor and DSG transmission) while BACUPIAN's Profile says "2026 FABIA DESIGN EDITION 1.5 TSI AUTOMATIC - FULL WINTER PACK,SPARE WHEEL,MUDFLAPS, F&R DASHCAMS". I thought that the shutter-unit might be fitted to all Fabia Mk4 models with the 1.5litre motor and not to versions with the 1.0litre motor (my own car has the 1.0litre motor + DSG transmission and no shutters) but that's plainly not the case. Very mysterious... I have enquired (twice) about this shutter thing on the Skoda Fabia Owners Club Facebook group, but - although I have no difficulty replying to existing threads there - when I create a brand-new thread it gets passed to a moderator for approval and then never appears.
  28. Thanks Micky, useful to know it settled down for you. Did anything change in that time, such as a software update at a service, or a dealer re-seating a door connector? Patchy at first then fine later makes me think of a marginal handle sensor or antenna connection, or a software fix. For Soko1982 and trupus, it might be worth asking a garage to check the driver's door handle sensor connector, and the wiring through the door hinge loom, for water or a broken wire.
  29. Same, mines also the 1.5 with DSG on a 75 plate.
  30. If it won't open you're doing it wrong, or you have a different key style.

  32. Should be fine to go from 270. Click on the link at the bottom of my 3rd reply in this thread to get the software, then follow the process in my 2nd reply. Download, unzip files to root if a USB-C card. Download and update them one at a time. Let us know if you have any issues.
