Can I enable Indirect (ABS wheel sensor based) TPMS on 2012 Yeti SE?
I've been all round the houses on this even comparing an older Golf V system that has ABS indirect speed based TPMS enabled and working. I've reached a few conclusions.: for TPMS there has to be comms to the Instrument controller. The yellow icon is present and can be lit. The Golf V has no active controllers in the gateway list for TPMS, neither does it have the adaption options which Yeti ABS module 03 has. Yeti has two options for adding controllers to the gateway list, activating either brings on the dash icon but scan then errors because it finds no supporting module. I've concluded our Yeti only responds to coding for Skoda INTERNAL TPMS sensors with a Skoda TPMS controller? Older cars like the Golf V were hard programmed for basic indirect ABS based TPMS with integrated hardware before internal sensors were available, which would explain why there are no TPMS gateway modules or ABS adaptation settings? I've now decided to add a cheap aftermarket TPMS, which is a shame because their sensor battery life will need monitoring. If I was marketing the 2012 Yeti with optional TPMS addons, why would I enable a basic ABS system and add the panel switch which buyers might be happy with? Good thing regulators have now made TPMS a mandatory car safety feature. I'll keep an open mind just in case somebody here has another answer?

Any luck with intermittent limp mode fault?
I've posted about this in two threads (look up breakdowns) but it is still being raised. Do not ignore the situation or accept a dealerships insistence that there's no fault showing so nothing to be fixed. Our 2023 Fabia mc had this issue and we got nowhere with getting it sorted despite it being likely to result in a fatal accident. The local dealer has a service department which they said is state of the art and has a full team of Skoda certified staff, but I never saw it. Customers are corralled in a comfortable seating area. I suspect their tech staff are fine carrying out a service where they follow a checklist but if you complain about an issue and no fault shows they are not really interested or trained to handle the situation in a customer friendly way. The first time the car was taken to the dealer the AA had cleared the fault which means the car retains no trace of the problem. Despite the AA saying that it was throttle body related which was backed up by a photo of what showed on their equipment the service manager said the car should have been taken to the dealership on a low loader with the fault showing because the dealerships electronic equipment was not compatible with that of the AA. I’ll give Johnson's Skoda's service manager credit for having the car in later on and trying but failing to get to the bottom of the matter. He was very upset because the dealership lost money over this. Skoda won’t pay the dealership for work in such a situation. They might even have insisted we pay for this farce but fortunately that didn’t happen. The only way we got through this was through the AA breakdown service when the issue occurred. By then, we’d learned about the AA “silver service” vans. These are manned by experienced staff fully trained for VAG group vehicles like Skodas who have all the necessary software on laptops. I’d go for this option even if you have to sign up for the AA to get a silver service vehicles to attend. The van – yes it was silver coloured - came to the house after the wife limped home in the Fabia at about 12mph. It turned out that a software update came out in summer 2024 specifically to fix this issue on our model. He knew from the off what the problem was and took half an hour to update the car. He said the problem would not recur. The Skoda dealer’s service department knew nothing about the update. Battery levels are not the cause because we replaced ours before the last limp breakdown and the technician said it was unconnected. I’m horrified that Skoda and dealerships are still getting away with the no fault so no fix strategy. It ruined the enjoyment of the car for us and because we are quite old, we began to think it must be us doing something wrong. It has been a very unsettling situation. I am not optimistic about you getting this sorted by Skoda without raising a huge fuss and being prepared to take legal action. A comprehensive list of available engine management software updates for Skoda cars would be a valuable resource for Skoda owners. Dealerships like the one we bought our new car from could use it for such situations too, because they are not up to speed or confidence inspiring. Good luck.

Adaptive grille ahutter
Hi, Just wondering if anyone can confirm that a 2025 Fabia Monte Carlo has adaptive grille shutters. I am led to believe that it does. I am asking because I have looked at startup but have never seen any evidence of a grille shutting or going through a setup procedure. Any thoughts on this will be appreciated.

DSG arrow
Those are not DSG modes they are vehicle modes, which is why they include settings for steering weight, AC mode, etc. The DSG only has Eco (earlier shift points and coasting on trailing throttle), Drive ("normal") and Sport (later shift points).

Front swing arm installation angle into rear large bush?
Hi replacing bushes and swing arms on my sons MK1 fabia. Large consol bushes have gone but what angle does the swing arm get fitted into bush in relation to car. Not sure if its fitted horizontal and pulled down or at an angle downwards. Cant tell from old bushes as the centre has parted company from rest of them. Old bushes seem to have been fitted upside down as bump in bush is furthest from car. Hope that makes sense. Alasdair

Repeated daily Infotainment update issues
All done now. Using the 3 files from here: https://mega.nz/folder/6B1yxYqY#VGP-rXf4CJ5h-xnkEg_hQg USB C Stick in the slot under the screen Open the service menu (ignition on, press the menu button I think it was, the top left one - hold 10+ seconds until it comes up) Then just go through the on screen steps. Takes a while sometimes to realise you need to press something, and sometimes you need to scroll down, but its not too tricky. Then just wait until its done. I had a quick drive after each of the 3 updates just to make sure it didn't throw any codes, but nope, all fine. Even got that OTA update that's been bugging me for months and a message saying it was completed. Happy days.

Dash speaker replacement
Just resurrecting and old thread. I noticed on a quad lock pin out diagram it has pin positions for speaker 5 and 6 + and - should be pretty straight forward to pop off screen to get to the back of the dash and run a pair of speaker wires down to the MiB quad lock. Not sure if the standard MiB units have capacity or coding capability to output to a 5th speaker though.

England EV Charging points, a proposal. & location & news on new charging hubs in England & Wales.
I haven't been updating this thread as so many hubs are opening weekly. A good example is that Tesla open to all (OTA) superchargers now number 150. Up 25% on a year ago.

LED headlight
This link discusses common LED headlight problems. https://homeofheadlights.co.uk/blogs/news/what-are-the-common-led-headlight-problems Clearly there's no point replacing a flickering headlight-unit if the unit itself is not at fault, but deciding if the unit is the culprit (and is unrepairable) or something else that can be replaced/repaired is going to need a professional diagnosis.

Upgrading MK3 Octavia audio
I’ve just bought a 2014 VRS and want to get the Focal kit. I know I’m going to have to modify the wiring like your comment says but have you got any info/pics of what modifications are required?

Wireless phone charge bay - iPhone Pro Max
Just to answer my own question, should it be of use to others, yes - the iPhone pro max does fit in the phone charging bays 😊 (I bought one anyway). It fits pretty much perfectly (with a thin apple weave style case on) and I suspect it was designed to do so. Any bigger a phone, or a bulkier case, and it probably wouldn’t.

Vacuum hose stuck in dipstick tube during oil change – what did it snag on?
I’ve generally done both – drain by pump so there’s less of a surge when you take the plug out, then get the last bits from the bottom. I don’t have the luxury of a driveway so try to minimise mess where possible.

Vacuum hose stuck in dipstick tube during oil change – what did it snag on?
All my cars are fairly old so generally drain from sump. Have always been worried that using pump wouldnt remove any sludge build up etc. Do have one but use it for a ride on lawnmower thats a pain to get to drain plug. Alasdair

Vacuum hose stuck in dipstick tube during oil change – what did it snag on?
Yes, I was almost ecstatic with relief when it eventually came out! I had to do a small amount of disassembly to get the dipstick tube off, but it really wasn’t very difficult. As convenient and clean as using the pump is, I think I will revert to just taking out the plug in future.

Vacuum hose stuck in dipstick tube during oil change – what did it snag on?
Wonder if it kinked and got stuck. Cant think of anything else it would have caught on. At least you got it out again. Lot easier than dropping sump Alasdair

Skoda Scala 2021 1.0 TSI 95cv – Intermittent clutch problem, gears won't engage
Sounds like clutch hydraulics are failing somewhere. Keep an eye on brake fluid level as the clutch and brakes share the same reservoir. Check to see if clutch/ brake fluid is where it shouldn't be - eg peel back rubber seals on master and/or slave. If not sure then get both the master and slave cylinders changed. I had similar symptoms with Mrs BJ's Panda- had both ends changed, all good now.

LED headlight
Flickering leds can also be caused by a faulty led driver - whether the driver unit can be replaced separately is another question, very likely to be integral with the led module.

The original suggests mystery in its distant aspect, leading the mind of the observer to think "what's back there". The more defined imagery in your AI version is pretty but - to me - loses the magic of the mystery. As is said, YMMV

Fabia ECU kit
If it is an auto ecu in a manual then someone has already cloned ecu/copied imobilser data etc to it as car starts and runs. I read using VCDS you can change settings in ECU from auto to manual but have no idea how to. Found this on rosstech for a jetta. https://forums.ross-tech.com/index.php?threads/20338/
