  1. Only been on the forum a bit, and just signed up to freedom, Getting the hang of the various topics. I got my D850 about a year ago, epic machine, Have had the D750 for about 4 years. One of the reasons i bought the Yeti was for my photography adventures in the winter, and the summer with the current rain. I studied photography at Sunderland University, and do a bit of commercial photography alongside my Music (Organist) and being an undertaker. I spent a week on the Isle of skye back in November, Took the D850 with me, We stayed in the cottage seen in the distance, Shot this Panoramic 110 HDR images stiched together. Facebook has killed some of the quality but still looks canny...

Aussie Karoq here in Melbourne with what we call a triple pack. Loving it so far, but I knew that I would as I had an early TDi Yeti over here as well. Pretty amazed with the 54 mpg return on the first few days of driving as well. The dogs love it too - Sarbai photobombing on one of the pictures 😆
  3. so old that my yeti was replaced by an Octavia which was replaced by a Nissan Leaf which was replaced by a renault zoe which has been replaced by a Tesla Model 3 😄
  4. NO!! Do NOT let the engine run with the alternator not connected to the battery!! That risks damaging the alternator.
  5. My first Yeti had a sunroof. It leaked. I won't buy another car with a sunroof.
  6. After a year of listen to the dreaded creaking and groaning of the sunroof in my sedan, I can honestly say the problem has now been solved. From day one I have put up with these noises which have driven me to the brink of starting to hate my Superb. After two different dealers looked at the vehicle, both saying that can’t find a problem, it has come down to a fellow Aussie Superb owner (Alcoop) who found the fix even after his dealer replaced the entire sunroof, frame and all associated components - with zero success. Following Alcoop’s instructions, I sat in the rear seat and reached up running my hand across the back of the roof lining which lines up flush with the sunroof framework. Giving a sharp pull down on the roof lining on each corner, the roof lining will unclip from the sunroof frame. Because the roof lining is a one piece moulded unit, the roof lining will not sag down. You will end up with the roof lining edge now slightly below the sunroof frame across the back edge of the sunroof. See photo. The roof of the vehicle will still flex when the car is in motion due to the big hole in the middle of the roof (sunroof) but now the roof lining won’t flex with it. The moulded roof lining is the cause of all the noises. When attached to the sunroof frame, the lining twists and flexes along with the roof creating the noises we are all experiencing. In addition to the noises, both Alcoops and I suffered from the sunblind gathering up when opening the blind, once the roof lining was released from the framework, this also released the pressure that was being placed on the sunblind cassette and now the sunblind retracts effortlessly without any form of gathering up. This was a pleasant surprise as I have been suffering with this problem since day one as well. Bottom line, it’s all down to the roof lining fixing points at the back of the sunroof flexing with the roof/sunroof and creating the noises. Once released, all noises etc disappear. It astounds me that the dealers and Skoda themselves can’t figure this out and just fob off the customer because we complain about something that is not correct. In this case it comes down to owners of the vehicle to find the cause and create a simple fix. Skoda need to have a look at the way the roof lining is designed in sedans that have the sunroof and modify the design to eliminate this problem. At the very least, they need to issue a technical bulletin to the dealers to apply this simple fix that a lot of owners have complained about across the globe. As you can see in the photos, you wouldn’t even know if the lining had been detached from the roof. I am now falling back in love with my Superb. Now if I can just fix the squeaks coming from the cup holder in the centre console (the dealers said that they all do it…I call Bulls%*t) I will be a very happy boy...any suggestions??

I purchased these off Ebay. Look and feel just like the genuine Skoda ones that I replaced them with. You can select your own colour and design etc. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/173896166812

Get the Skoda rubber mats -then they'll probably outlast the car
  9. If you want grip in the wet, buy some premium brand tyres with a good Wet Grip rating. Personally, I'd replace all four while I was at it. As the only point of contact between your car and the road, cheap tyres are a false economy. You'll get a set of Uniroyal Rainsports in 215/45x16 for about £400 from somewhere like Black Circles or Oponeo.
  10. Tyres may be fine tread wise but are the pressures okay and what is the brand of tyres? I’ve had some near misses due to budget tyres before.
  11. Thanks for your reply.I may take you up on your offer when things are better for visiting.

https://insurewithskoda.co.uk/extended-warranty/ Interesting .... £460 for an extra years all component warranty with a £250 excess ... Worth considering ....

Ahhhh.... In that case I can help ! I believe you can extend the 3 year warranty but it's not as full featured as the oem warranty purchased with the new car. I think I paid just under £600 for mine ? Must have save me about £1500 so was well worth it.
  14. Alright, I took it in today and they found my under-tray still propped up in the corner of the garage... Anyway it's all fixed up now, thank you all once again.
  15. I've had no problems in 6 months either opening or closing unless it senses something is in the way. My drive gets very windy and I often have to hold onto the door as a gust would smash it into the wall of my house.
  16. Sweat does not matter, just movement.
  17. Mandatory mot test start again from 1st august been announced today 6 month extension still applies for cars that needed test between end of march and july
  18. The screen isn’t CP monitored anyway, only the radio and yes you can unplug and plug it in as much as you want as the CP is tied to the car. It knows when the correct radio is plugged in so it’ll be fine.
  19. Yes, because it does not have capacitive steering wheel as FL Passat. And you have to have quite still hand.
  20. You cant really get a 4x4 petrol yeti unless you find a rare and historically unreliable 1.8 car. At 5k a year the diesel is not a good idea as the emission components will never get enough use to keep clear. Any car prior to around 2015 will be euro 5, and will have had the emission fix so that would worsen this potential and expensive unreliability, with the extra 2 year warranty on these parts now expired. Whilst i love my 4x4 diesel yeti, it doesnt sound like the correct car for you, as you say you need a 4x4.
  21. Yes, you should be ok. I'm using the map and my card is only 16gb too.
  22. Sounds a lot like my Skoda just 4 times the price.
  23. Such a contrast to the Jannarelly Design 1 above.

Get 'em to fix those rattles?
  25. Thank you to to everyone for your experience and advice. Armed with that I have gone slowly and am pleased to report that I have successfully removed my drivers side (right hand front) grab handle and I managed to do that without breaking the cover/plugs or the spring steel clips inside. I've enclosed photos to illustrate my description. I finally managed to get a cheap flat-blade screwdriver that did not have a hardened shaft and I bent the shaft to 90 degrees without snapping the screwdriver. I then used this bent screwdriver along with an unbent screwdriver and prised the cover/plug out slowly. It is really tight and you have to wiggle the plug/cover by alternately wiggling the two screwdrivers. I think if you just tried to use the bent screwdriver on its own the plug/cove will snap. Later in the photo sequence you can see why the cover/plug is so tight- there is a dip in the plastic cover/plug that communicates with a bump in the middle of the metal clip on each side of the clip and cover/plug. If you work the cover/plug out slowly the metal clip will not be lost. But beware when you probe in with the bent screwdriver as it is possible to pick up the lip of the metal clip with the screwdriver clip and dislodge it as I try to show in one of the photos as everything is hidden from view. If the tip of the bent screwdriver goes in at right angles into the cover/plug recess, then you should be OK. I hope the various photos will remove mystery surrounding what the various parts look like.
  26. I have a 1.5 TSI Estate manual ...excellent car ...no problems with power delivery , no hesitation smooth engine .
  27. Hi @themanwithnoaim, we're doing well but I gave up on Fuelly a year so ago when my figures got too compromised by others unrecorded fueling. I only get around 8L/100 these days with my really short journeys but my wife has discovered that she could get near 5L/100 on her longer journeys in light lockdown traffic and is quite enthusiastic. I knew there was an eco-warrior deep inside you. I'm just so proud of you 😂
  28. Yeah, not sure why. Maybe they’re reserving that for its own announcement. Late model Audi.
  29. That's still quite a few miles considering. Since the beginning of lockdown I've done 109 miles 😂 It's not really about how many miles you do, but more about journey lengths. But if you don't want diesel, then that's your preference.
  30. By typing on a phone that plays silly buggers with most of what I write...
  31. by trading it in against an awd car...
  32. Incredible! Very impressed, I couldn't figure out how to get to my rear arches on the hatchback without dismantling everything including rear seat back :( I see in your pictures that you managed to do it but looks like a lot more work on hatchback. i would be very very interested in seeing your m5dsp results after tuning. I'm still struggling a bit, I can make dance music sound pretty good but really having a harder time with rock & vocals.. The other thing I have noticed is that it is much easier to get a half decent sound on the drive but this doesn't translate to something good on the motorway due to all the road noise. This is with silent coat and noise isolator across boot floor and back seat. I even did the driver side arch from the outside but didn't make much difference. If only I could get to the rear arches.. I actually have some mass loaded vinyl so that might be next project for the rear. How much difference did deadening the door panels do?
  33. You haven't met him, I have & I know🤣🤣🤣
  34. @FatWolfie A rather different proposition from the Zoe - I got an Audi e-tron 50. i'm leasing it through my work (NHS) at a very subsidised price with extra incentives for going pure electric meaning that I've got a car that I could never otherwise afford.

I have a card which will be suitable for you, updated with the latest current version of maps. Cost is £20 posted.
  36. With vcds you can activate the alarm without sensors: Alarm 09-Central Elect. Adaptation. The alarm also sounds if you disconnect the trailer plug from a locked car.

  38. My first post at this forum. Yesterday I picked up my first Škoda. Coming from a Passat.
  39. a G-TEC version has been launched, available from Autumn uses compressed gas with petrol reserve https://www.skoda-storyboard.com/en/press-releases/eco-friendly-and-cost-effective-alternative-the-new-skoda-octavia-g-tec/
  40. Enjoy your new car 👍 Make sure the indicator stalk is fitted and fully operational before leaving the dealer.
  41. Found some grommets to replace the ones missing on scuttle panel, these annoyed me so much lol

When mounting the thermostat, that piece should be up. The air trapped in the upper side can escape through that "hole".
  43. Take it to an air con specialist - Kwik fit aren't. If you are not careful without a proper diagnosis you'll end up replacing every component in the system and be in danger of damaging other bits. The N280 control valve is a common fail and is a cheap component.
  44. The 115PS 2.0TDI is more powerful than the 115PS 1.6TDI throughout most of its rev range. The 115PS is just peak power. At lower revs the power of the 2.0TDI will be more than the 1.6TDI. The bigger engine has maximum torque of 300Nm compared to only 250Nm from the smaller engine. The bigger engine will be way more powerful from 1,500rpm to 2,500rpm than the smaller engine.
