  1. It depends what system your wife's car has. Indirect systems don't have physical pressure sensors, instead they rely on rotational differences between the wheels (via the ABS sensors) so would just need resetting. Direct systems like the OP has fitted need physical sensors so either new sensors or moving them from the other rims. That'll just depend. The style the OP has fitted are pretty clever, it uses a combination of signal strength and rotation direction to figure out which wheel they are fitted on. They can be moved around the car or even fitted to other cars and the TPMS module figures it out pretty quickly. There is no pairing so after a short drive it should pick up after a summer/winter tyre/sensor swap. When I did fitted a similar TPMS system to my old Octavia, I bought sensors from 3 different suppliers and the module found them without any user intervention However, other systems (for instance the VAG orange sensors) need coding using a TPMS tool and then fitting to a specific wheel. The Chinese systems are also typically designed for a specific sensor in each wheel. Other manufactures probably have their own (similar) systems so without knowing your Wife's car, it's hard to give specific advice

Got as far as reading this and thought b0llocks.
  3. There's a manufacturer bulletin on the subject that basically states that cracks don't necessarily render the coupling to have failed or be in need of replacement.
  4. I didn't realise how sort after these cars are? Ad went live on Autotrader around 10am, first call at 11am, chap drove 2 and a half hours too see it, 15 minute test drive (with me driving), paid by bank transfer and was on his way home in it by 4:30pm!
  5. The battery management system, needs to know the battery has been changed to adjust the charging curve for the new battery. The BMS is tied into the alternator freewheel clutch, and the start stop system.
  6. Perhaps share what the issue was, may help future posters.
  7. Can I add on this topic with mine? Arrived 2 days ago...

This is my first day as a pensioner, and it is winter. I must have something to do,got a Jeep engine. This is going to be an art installation,,,,,in my kitchen. Stay tuned.........
  9. Probably no revelations or nothing anyone hasn't heard before but here goes..... I’ve had the Scala SEL around 6 months now and thought I’d report back on what I think. Over all, I like the car a lot but there are a few things that annoy me. I’m just going to list these, and a few of them are personal preference. Assume that everything else about the car is great. Drivers seat. Can get a bit uncomfortable on a long journey. I wish it was a bit more padded. Drivers seat. The back always seems to move by a few degrees from journey to journey so I always have to pull it up a little bit. Lane detection. Hate it and personally don’t think it’s that safe. The first thing I do is turn it off. I wish I had the option to disable it on start up in settings. I understand it’s needed to get some sort of certification for Skoda. I’d argue that it’s not my problem! Having to go on the main screen to change heater settings. Ridiculously badly thought through. No wireless Android Auto. Not being able to upload radio logos via stick to the 9.2” Amundsen. A minor thing but drives me mad. The user guide says you can do this but you can’t via USB. I contacted Skoda Support who told me that I could upload it via SD card. I pointed out that the car doesn’t have an SD slot. They then told me that there was no need as the images reside on an internal drive. I pointed out that a load of logos are missing or some that get assigned are plain wrong – completely different station. They then told me that the incorrect logos would be sorted in a software update which I thought was just fobbing me off. I’ve had 2 software updates since I spoke to them and it hasn’t been fixed. I spoke to them again. Still absolutely no resolution and no explanation for not being able to upload (that probably annoys me most) but this time they added that they don’t have licensing for some logos. I reminded them that these logos aren’t missing on one of the company Octavia’s. They moved on swiftly and asked me if there was anything else they could help me with? Yes. Are you going to update the user guide to show that you can’t do this? Still waiting for a response on that. To sum up, no help at all. Spoke to the local Skoda garage. They understood to their credit and said it drives them mad too but there’s no solution and they can’t understand for the life of them why it’s been taken out. One wish. Being able to get Google Maps/Waze on the dashboard display as although adequate, I think Google maps are better than the Skoda satnav. But, other than that – and these are minor in the grand scheme of things, I love the car.
  10. A known concern would be that of the clutch itself and in cases of persistent customer concerns the next step is to replace it. God only knows why they opted for a release bearing first 🤷🏼‍♂️
  11. Possibly...will call up dealers tomorrow to see if they can help

I tried a number of times to make some kind of sense of it, breaking it into smaller chunks, placing commas and full stops etc......but then I gave up too.
  13. I siliconed the doors earlier -16 due this week, it's starting properly. Might also be able to do a decent Icetrack session or four this winter, too... - Bret
  14. I'm afraid I'm not allowed to share them. I've been under my own car today and the propshaft coupling is cracked and looking a bit sorry for itself but it's not causing me any issues.
  15. You may need to specify the size, etc as there are many differing sizes. A quick look on eBay revealed a set of 4, with winter tyres, for £50 but prices will range from a tenner, to HOW MUCH!!!!
  16. Marketing will be another strong driver for the ever-increasing array of 'toys'. The 'my car does x; doesn't yours?' BS/vanity/insecurity/willy-waving nonsense that seems more and more popular as time goes by. If your car isn't lit up like a freakin Christmas tree inside and out you're just no-one right?
  17. Hi guys, I've decided to sell my Skoda Octavia VRS 245 (just posted it up in the classifieds). It's been an amazing car, but with lockdown carrying on and working from home, It's sitting in my garage not being used... We are fortunate enough to have 3 cars in our household and the painful decision has been made to move on the Octavia. Eventually when things go back to some kind of normality, I'm going to hopefully pick up an electric car as I only work 16 miles (round trip) from work. Also I'm allowed too charge my car for free at work, so makes real financial sense in the long run. I'm going to miss the Octavia though... Hands down the best car I have ever (in my short time with it) owned. Just wanted to say thanks to everyone for all the useful advice I have picked up on here (even way before I bought her).
  18. Did you get close to your advertised price? Might help others if you share your mileage and price buyer paid.
  19. To @Kevgem - To have Your own battery charger is very good idea. It will help You many years. Buy one and charge Your battery. I think that, if You can go through this Winter, You can use the battery till the next Winter without any Problems. The low temperature reflects very bad to the car batteries (and any other batteries by the way).
  20. Briskoda plate holders with pressed aluminium plates. Got 3D gel plates on SWMBO’s car which I prefer.
  21. It's also worth remebering when you park your car up at the end of the journey, get the interior as cold as possible. I drive the last 3 miles with the heating off and if its not raining, the last mile with the windows open. I find that helps no end.
  22. Are you sure that that is the main water pump that gets driven off the back of the exhaust cam shaft, and not just the charge cooler electric water pump?
  23. I quite fancy one of the cars in Cyberpunk 2077, with all the tech-laden dashboards. If Electric Cars looked and sounded like those, I'd buy one in a heartbeat!! However, that's just a computer game and I suspect the reality would be a GDPR (or should that be CDPR? ) nightmare of clicking to accept cookies and spyware and permissions and all that, just to get the window wound down!! Nope. It just means that people cannot be trusted to drive a vehicle themselves, meaning we need to bring in self-driving vehicles... meaning companies (headed by MPs' mates, of course) supplying all the tech and programming will get the government contracts, **** it up and leave us worse off than before, but by then no-one will be around who still remembers how to drive a proper car, so we'll be stuck with renting mindless conveyor-belt boxes.
  24. perfect! dTPMS from Ali can be paired to another winter/summer sensors set, but they must be from the same producer, even when display device looks exactly same :( order can be changed manually
  25. I expect it would depend if you have the 340mm front discs or 312mm. Skoda changed them on the TDIs around 2016 but build date will determine rather than reg date. The 312mm are smaller than these clubsport discs and have a different caliper.
  26. Just to inform you guys that I got response from dealer. This falls under warranty(waiting replacement), as it does not go away after their procedure and there are water drops that can not be removed with led headlight heat after some time. Also if it get worse it can endanger your night drive. Thanks guys for your responses also
  27. The Somme reference is accurate. This time of year, they always looked like they were wearing boots !!
  28. Just for anyone still following this. I finally managed to get my car booked in. It’s going in tomorrow morning I’ll let you all know what they say about it.
  29. I get a bit of discount with the job I do so they were a lot cheaper for me. However their service tops any dealership I have been too. Always have a courtesy car available when you need one. I cant fault them.
  30. Yes, not very happy in this weather at all. We put tons of straw down, but after a couple of days its like the Somme again. Have to say that looking after them is a job I am happy to leave to the Domestic Manager and Controller of the Purse. She loves them.
  31. The alternatives r good, n do the job, but it doesn't beat OEM integration. Initially, after seeing the difficultly level on this direct tpms version, I was going to with plan b - the alternatives. But I decided to stick to my guns n go the whole hog. Happy I did.
  32. Ah, I c ur scenario with winter wheels. Thankfully we don't have a need like that here in Oz. I'm not sure how, or if, the TPMS module is able to pair with two different sets of sensors. With regards to programming the sensors, I know that it is done via some specialist tools. Nothing ordinary. The usual suspects such as ODIS, VCP or VCDS doesn't cut it.
  33. Nope, no coding of the sensors. e Each tire sensor had already been paired with the receiver. Plug n play. So when fitted, it knows which sensor is where based on the distance of the sensors relative to it. Hence why the receiver must b mounted right at the back.
  34. I have vcds which you will need or similar app.
  35. That's only for the Superb mk3; OP here has a mk2.
  36. /\ Dean is 90% correct. swap the wires to maintain a permanent live for radio memory, but also get an antenna amplifier to fit on the harness or you can have trouble with am/fm signal being very weak. the amp is built into the standard headunit, so the upgraded unit will need the inline booster. cost very little and easy fit. may also need an antenna plug adapter depending on the unit you get
  37. Heater controls In UK’s cold damp winters try demisting side windows on automatic it takes ages In summer when you want to feel extra cool breeze on your face you cannot do that on automatic Bring back nobs Lane detection control I regularly do 40+ miles an hour on my local country roads, it is not for the fainthearted to have lane control on and it scares the bejesus out of the wife when she is driving Skoda Sat Nav give this a wide berth very disappointing Before anyone says you should have realised this when you purchased the car try buying a SEL spec without buying into this rubbish. On the + side Love Adaptive Cruise Control Electric front seats are Fab but would be perfect if it had the 3-memory function like the Superb. Electric tail gate is exceptionally good MPG on the 1.0 DSG is great on long journeys 60+ until the lockdown came short journeys lucky to get 35 Compared to the last 3 Fabia’s the electric seats are very comfy and no movement apart from when you want it. The first yearly service next week, I have done 9000+ miles not had to top up the oil. The lights are far better than my 5 previous Skoda cars Great boot space All round a great little car let down by over ambitious Heater controls and Lane detection.

  39. Picked up the Lava Blue (Petrol) Combi iV from the dealer today, so far so good

A couple more snowy pics after a bit of a light dusting last night.
  41. 71 mpg in a Superb IV for petrol only driving is extremely unlikely. I have the same car and can only manage at best 46 mpg with careful driving. Is it possible that this is the overall mpg , inclusive of the battery only mileage which would be more reasonable. My overall mpg, inclusive of battery use, is currently about 85mpg, over total distance of 1560 miles, with about 1100 miles being petrol only. My current range on battery only is varying a lot between 29 miles down to as little as 16 miles on a full charge. Biggest battery loss is due to using all those very disable electric draining things, like the heated seats, steering wheel, front and rear heated windows, a/c system, heated wing mirrors. I'm not convinced that the cold weather is such a big factor yet since there has been no consistent difference on really cold days compared to mild ones.
  42. Hi, Yes I have it working with my Pixel 5. It works pretty well, but I have encountered the following issue : - Degraded audio quality when streaming via Android Auto (wireless) --> was solved by disabling "audio via USB" in developer mode (trick found on Reddit) - When answering a call from the Android Auto interface on the car touch screen, the sound is not put on the car's speakers. --> workaround is to answer to call from the car's interface (in my case, I use the steering wheel to answer the call and it works). On your Pixel 5, did you check the settings in Android Auto app ? There is a specific function to enable the wireless connectivity for Android Auto. You can also try to connect it by using the "connect a car" function from the app (instead of trying to do it from the car). Happy to provide you with any assistance.
  43. But you’re not driving a 2020 diesel to compare are you. Driving to work over the last 2 days have allowed better average speeds between 42-44mph and last 3 commutes of 65/66/67mpg. Currently driven 419 miles on 2nd tank with 530 miles range left.

Two things, typical Range Rover driver (sorry Aspman) and no way would I have the Kodiaq repaired after that severe damage. It needs to be scrapped.
  45. My cars in "the rear"
