  1. Well its here!! Firstly I just wanted to say how pleased I am with the Service I have received with Williams Motorrad, Just superb and an absolute pleasure to deal with. Made the entire process of distance buying very easy (even for someone as picky as me) The Bike was Delivered on Friday Lunchtime and I was like a kid stood looking out of the living room Window every 5 mins waiting First impressions of the Bike when the van was taken out of the Van where excellent, I still had about 10 Mins scrutinising everything before accepting the Bike and signing the paperwork but the Bike was as described with no surprises. Even though it has done just 506 Dry Miles I could see it would benefit from a Detail just to get it back to 100%, Something I was happy about too as I love getting stuck in. In total I spent about 4 Hours on Friday and 5 Hours on Saturday working on the Bike and enjoyed every minute of it. My new Clarke CML3 Workshop Ramp also made things so much easier and paid for itself over the last few days. So here is what I have been upto over the last few days... : Fitted New Wunderlich Sport Screen, Light Tint : Fitted New Evotech Radiator & Oil Cooler Guards : Fitted New Evotech Paddock Stand Bobbins : Fitted Genuine BMW Tank Protector : Fitted Oxford Charging Lead : Fitted Dynamic Pro Riding Mode Coding Plug While fitting all over the above, I was cleaning, Degreasing, Detailing parts along the way. : Removed All Engine Plastics inc Belly Pan & Front Mudguard. All washed, Dried, Hand Polished and 1 x Coat of Collinites Wax applied. : Tank Hand Polished and 1 x Coat of Collinites Wax applied. : All Front of Engine and Headers given Polished using Autosol, Then treated with ACF50. Wiped off excess with Micorfibre. : Catalytic Converter Polished and ACF50'd. : Removed Hugger and Chain Guard, All De-greased and Cleaned. : All Swingarm & Rear Shock Area De-Greased, Cleaned. : Chain De-Greased using Muc-Off Chain Cleaner, Cleaned each link by hand and Re-Lubricated using Wurth High Performance Dry Chain Lubricant. : Rear Wheel wiped with Microfibre and GT85 to lightly degrease and remove Chain Wax Spots. : Removed Front Fork Leg Reflectors. Possibly forgot something but you get the idea. A few snaps for your viewing pleasure... Obligatory delivery van image... Here was how the Bike looked when I took delivery and not had the Bonelorry treatment, Note the Colour of the Chain lathered in horrible Wax, Colour of the Catalytic Convertor/Exhaust... Off with the Original Screen if you could call it that, More like a Clock Cover IMO... New Wunderlich Sport Light Smoke Screen fitted, Looks superb and is apparently very functional... Dynamic Pro Coding Plug fitted, Basically the BMW Dealership will not fit this as it allows for Traction Control, Anti Wheelie and ABS to be turned off and even though I won't ever do this on the Road I still wanted all available Riding Modes to be available. They will supply you with the Coding Plug to fit yourself... Oxford OF703 Charging Lead fitted, This is a swine of a job! Zero Clearance under the Seats and Rear Plastics to route the Wiring to the Battery so quite a bit has to be removed first to give clearance. I wanted a totally subtle and neat install. Most people just fit them and have them Cable Tied to a Footpeg, Very happy with the install. Sits under the Pillion Seat and is invisible with the Seat attached... All Plastics removed, Washed, Dried, Polished, Waxed... The Plastics needed to be removed to fit the Evotech Radiator and Oil Cooler Guards, All refitted now and looking smart. Very functional and well made bits of kit from Evotech... Headers and Cat all Polished, ACF50 Applied... Chain, Sprocket, Swingarm Area. Much better... Genuine BMW Tank Pad Fitted, These can be a PITA to fit. I have seen people with masking tape all over the Tank to get it straight, Done a few of these of over the past few Years and and did it by Eye... All finished, Ready for going under its Cover. No more ugly Fork Reflectors either...
  2. Firstly I know its not a Car but I believe this Section allows for Non Skoda & other projects?? Apologies to Mods if it isn't allowed in this Section. So I have had a few Bikes and I have actually owned a couple of BMW S1000R Sports in the past, A couple of Gen 1 2016 Models and then a Gen 2 2018 Model. I sold my last one and bought a Suzuki Hayabusa, The Suzuki went last Summer and I said I was going to have a break from Bikes, Buy a Second Car to have as a Toy and then began looking at Bikes again in December and here I am. I know I am a nightmare, I cannot help it though So what I have bought? I looked at all sorts, Considered a few Bikes I have not yet owned but there are not that many Bikes I actually want to own. Nearly went for a Fully Faired S1000RR Sport and then talked myself out of it. I didn't want to buy Brand New due to the depreciation and I don't do PCP as I am old school so was looking at stuff that was 1-2 Years old but my main criteria was condition. So as you have probably figured out by now I have bought... Another BMW S1000R Sport, This is a slightly different to the last One due to the fact its Blue instead of White. : 2020/20 Plate Gen 2, 165BHP, S1000R Sport : San Marino Blue Metallic : Sport and Dynamic Package so has all the toys including Cruise, Shift Assist allowing Up & Down Clutchless Gearshifts, Also has the Optional BMW Factory Alarm. : Done just 506 Miles from New Its a 1 Owner Bike, Owned by BMW UK so not a Demonstrator. A Motorrad Manager had the Bike as his own and it has clearly been well looked after. Registered June 2020 and had its Running in Service in October 2020 at 500 Miles, It has not been ridden since and has never seen a Winter or by the looks of things seen any Wet Weather full stop. It was difficult to find an example I was interested in despite there been a few to choose from, It was made more difficult due to Covid restrictions and distance selling. I rejected about 5 Bikes up and down the UK, All with 1000 Miles or less as I wanted something that had not been used as an Ex-Demo or through Winter. I asked as much detail over the Phone, I was sent some HD Pictures and was sent a 12 Min HD Video going into a lot of Detail, The Salesman knew what my expectations where as I had already refused another of the Bikes in their Stock. He assured me that it was One of the best used examples he had seen and that I wouldn't be disappointed. The only pic I has of the Bike upto when it was Delivered... To Be Continued...
  3. Diesel engines don't make a vacuum, that's why there's a special pump to make it instead. Torque isn't reliable enough for diagnosis purposes so it's safe to ignore it, it's a solution in search of a problem.
  4. Oh - you need the assistance of @SashaGracewho is a past master in dismantling and reassembling them in double-quick time. Sasha - can you give @Combi_Bobsome pointers?

  7. Scuffing/rumbling was one of the symptoms we had when the clutch finger spring failed and machined the inside of the bell housing.
  8. nice ride out today with the weather being In double figures, unfortunately it would appear my heart rate monitor strap for my watch has broken after 8 years so my data was limited, so looks like I'm gon have to get a new one. but still had a good 14mile ride today ..can't wait to get back to some trails like Cannock and Wales also had a cheeky beer in the sun !!!
  9. Hi stever750, same in my experience too, but I recall posts around five years back when I got my 220 vRS Octavia there were more than a few who took a cavalier attitude to this. One of the reasons I avoided the forum for a long time. That and the inability of posters to (a) bother searching properly (or even at all) when needing advice and (b) starting new topics with ridiculously vague headings, or even just to announce that their new car had landed at the dockside. Sadly there's only been a slight improvement in these areas. Personally I don't give a flying fig if the engine explodes, that's between them and their bank balance. But if they crash and injure someone or worse while uninsured they deserve everything the law throws at them.
  10. Well its been a little while since my last update on the Golf, Annoyingly Todays was not the sort of update I would have liked to Post but... Rather embarrassingly and for the first time in 16 Years of Driving I misjudged a gap turning into the Car Park at work, The Car Park has a few Pot-Holes which I always avoid but in doing so you have to turn sharply right and get close to the Large Steel Gatepost on the entrance. I don't know why I did it but I got too close to the Gatepost this Morning and scuffed the OSR Door and Bump Strip in the process Don't worry, I have said some strong words to myself!!! Upon inspecting what I had done I was very thankful that firstly the Scrape was just on the Door and not the Rear 3/4 Panel, Secondly the Panel was not dented in anyway. It was just surface marks. Anyway I got home around 12:30 after my shift and cracked on to see what I could do to improve the situation and to say I am pleased with myself in an understatement. What I did... : Washed and Dried the Door. : 3 x Hits with the DAS 6 Pro and Orange Hex Pad with Megs 105 Ultra Cut Compound. : 1 x Hit with the DAS Pro and White Hex Pad with Megs 205 Ultra Finishing Polish. : Hand Applied Poorboys Black Hole and removed with Microfibre. : 1 x Coat of Collinites 845 Wax. : Lightly used a Heat gun to bring out the Oils on the Door Bump Strip which removed about 90% of the scuff mark. : Dressed using AG Bumper & Trim Gel, Buffed excess off with Microfibre to finish. Couple of pics... This was what I was greeted with when I got out of the Car... After the Work with the DAS6 Pro, Managed to remove pretty much all the marks. Bump Strip not sorted at this point... Poorboys Black Hole followed by a Coat of Collinites Wax, Bump Strip scuff removed and Dressed...
  11. Personally, I would ring the dealer, give them your vehicle info and get the correct part / price of a new one. Your vehicle is around the time the number changed, so it needs to be correct...........then you can judge the cost of a new V reliability / cost of a second hand one. In my opinion, if you intend to keep the car I would invest in new, but thats my thoughts.
  12. I installed a new tank because I had the double walled version.
  13. Keep looking, sounds like there's a leak somewhere. Check that the door drainage is working OK, some recent Skodas seem to have some badly designed rubber seals that cause the doors to not drain themselves. I forget which model(s).
  14. I guess it would struggle to read boost on your sdi given its non-turbo?
  15. Just been sat too long, do a long drive with A/C on to take moisture out of air. My wife's car has hardly been used, snow and ice means she has lot's of moisture in car as you described. Today with sun on car she has had windows and boot open to try and dry it out. But the real answer is the A/C and a decent drive...
  16. Well this is embarrassing. No matter when I put the switch to auto the headlights are now dancing for me. I have no idea what I've done to make this happen but I'm starting to doubt whether there was a problem at all and langers is right and I just missed it. I made a point of looking for it on numerous occasions and even now I'm convinced it didn't happen. Oh well

Puss off... 😉 Or are you taking the puss. Anyway if it's in a ventilation duct, then I think that it'll be a professional job unless you're competent in removing/replacing the seats.
  18. Uh oh you know what happens when you have kids right? Bye bye spare time and bye bye bikes 😁 In all seriousness congratulations and something else to look forward to.
  19. Do you mean the part? It is actually dearer then ones you can buy from Ebay, which have a 5 year warranty on them! I often see this... Breakers want top dollar and can even be dearer then the main dealer, for brand new, genuine, two year warranty parts but on the 'bay, I saw some for around £23. The only thing is making sure they are the correct version, which the seller will usually ask for your reg. number or chassis number, to be accurate. Have a look at this sellers parts and see if they are matching. Cut and paste the, it will then give you a listing from RGT Automotive and they will most likely have the matching part. But many people will be doing exactly that, comparing EV and Petrol/Diesel vehicles when deciding to replace their car. Many who buy cars are private buyers who are not able to benefit from BIK. So will be looking at the costs. One of my friends recently bought a new ICE car. He said that he did look at EV's but didn't feel that they were good value for money, citing cost and range. Being retired he's not normally doing the same miles as he was, so monthly fuel costs weren't a factor for him in his thoughts. The purchase cost and the charging times for when he occasionally goes down south to the Cotswolds to visit the grandkids made him choose petrol. My point about the price of ioniq was not just about the comparison with Petrol/Diesel, but with other EV's also. Sadly the Ioniq seems to be priced more towards the luxury end of the market, whereas I was hoping it was going to be a replacement for the Kona EV with prices starting at around £32k and going up to perhaps £40k, but it seems that the Ioniq will be starting at around £45k. Even the ID4 1st Edition isn't that expensive. That has disappointed me since until recently I was thinking my next car might be an Ioniq, but not at that price.
  21. Wouldn’t have expected any less from you mate great thread as per usual 👍 Love the ramp that you have and not in the slightest bit jealous of all the spare time you have whilst I’m stuck in the house doing childcare and the Mrs is at work 😢 Bike looks awesome I’ll await the thread in a week saying you’ve sold it and bought something else (only joking)
  22. Here is my google review. Maybe that will get some attention. https://g.co/kgs/QHpfML

Got to agree with the SUV comment, this looks to be so low that it would beach if it went over anything rougher than a gravel driveway. I understand that minimising ground clearance improves the aero and therefore the fuel economy of vehicles, but you can't really call it an SUV if it has no more ground clearance than a VW golf. Perhaps we should start calling the Octavia Scout as an SUV??? It's got better ground clearance, and is larger, and is better in every way as a "lifestyle" SUV. I was hoping for a lower price as well, I could spec an L&K, 7 seat Diesel Kodiaq for similar money, and that is much more of an SUV. Ok there is the EV incentive to come off this EV, but even so, in comparison to what else people can buy for similar money it has some significant non-EV competition for peoples wallets. Even within the EV market, there is stiff competition at this price. I expect when Tesla finish their Berlin plant and start selling Y's in europe Hyundai will need to drop their prices to compete.

Problem is, you don't often realise what it is until its too late! Or, the debris is much bigger than it first looked. I've had similar with road kill, thought I would clear the remains only to hear a sizeable 'clonk'. Fortunately not had the problems you've experienced, but it can happen all too easily.
  25. At 27k miles, the seat belt should not be in that condition. If you are happy to have the vehicle repaired, I would very closely inspect every single part of it, and form a list of defects and evidence with photographs, and then insist they are all replaced. For example, that seat belt looks like it belongs on a car that has covered some serious mileage, not a nearly new 27k motor. Same with the plastics you have photographed. Just my opinion, but they knew the car was in that condition. The seat belt as a case in point, they let the car out of their workshop with serious fraying. Sorry for your grief, but that really is very bad practice from the dealer.
  26. I keep my cars to the point of throwing them away and have never bothered with extended warranty. Whenever a sales person has pushed it, whether on a car or a washing machine, I always ask whether they are really saying that the car will break down in that time. I am not a betting person. I know an Actuary who works in the insurance industry and he would never buy an extended warranty. 190,000 miles on a petrol Passat estate (10 years). 140,000 miles on a diesel Passat estate (14 years) I only got rid of it because the Scrappage Scheme was too good to ignore. 109,000 miles on my diesel Yeti (9 years). I only part exchanged that because the 'fix' ruined it and my mileage was changing. Now with a 1.5 Tsi Sel DSG and my only (mild) regret is that it doesn't have that rugged look of the Yeti. A great car that gets regularly praised in the press. tom

Sorry to hear of the grief, and hope the bill is smaller than you fear.
  28. Petrol cars warm up quicker than diesels. Diesel convert the power in the fuel more efficiently so less is wasted on heat. tom
  29. Byte 0 of the CAN gateway should be coded as 35 as it's a PQ35 platform car... Address 46 is a 'virtual module' and is actually part of 09. As such, it won't show up on an autoscan or let you do any coding/adaptions, it only exists for legacy reasons as some modules need to communicate with 46. Instead, you'll need to perform changes in 09
  30. Hi, I've not had one of those myself but I've been on this site long enough to see the posts from others. You might want to make a cup of tea, sit down and have a read of this: Of course you may have a different problem but the oil usage sounds similar to me. I can't help you through the problem (I've never had the 1.8 or 2.0) but I think what I have learnt is that you should try and document everything, email the dealer rather than phone (or follow up phone calls with an email) etc. Cheers, Steve
  31. I didn’t have the option of the “factory” extended warranty but hope to get similar at the end of 3 years.
  32. in all fairness, by the time you have removed the lock assy and messed with it to try and fix which I doubt would be a 100% reliable option......it would be easier to fit a new one and be done with it imo.
  33. Circuit diagrams seem not to feature J393 Central Convenience as a physically separate entity from Nov 2008 onwards. Connections that used to go to it seem to go to BCM instead.
  34. That's what I understood also. The M revision is the latest. A tell tale sign was that my dealer had the tank on stock. And they don't have a lot of parts on stock. Fitting was really easy. Emptied the tank with a brake bleeder. And swapped it over. No mess. After refill I checked the reservoir regularly, but no second refill was needed due to air bubbles.
  35. Dry in that bit. Item 18A here (view on a computer, not phone to see full info) steering gear; track rod - Fabia(FAB) [EUROPA 2008 year] (7zap.com)
  36. I had a similar experience, I wanted to change some settings for the alarm, according to Rosstech the module was number 46 IIRC central convenience, it was presented as one of the modules under the installation list where it only shows those fitted to your vehicle but I could not open it and got the same message as you. I could open all the other modules, however when I opened the Body control module (I think, I am relying on my poor memory) all the long coding and whatever the other coding shortcut is called were there for the alarm module and I could make the changes I wanted although they have made no difference. So it left me confused, I thought perhaps on my vehicle the comfort control module may have been a sub module of the body control module. VCDS always leaves me with more questions than answers.

Well, after much lockdown inspired faffing, I took delivery yesterday of a 220 L&K hatch, and it's luvverley. Very impressed with it and in Sport mode it delivers the Saab surge. I'm very happy.
  38. Nice sunset this evening
  39. Aw its marvelous init, it tells you how to drive, what gear to use, what not to do,gives you tips, Tells you to 'Take over steering' when it thinks you may be busy at something else. I mean where else would you get it ? Ah ! yes of course, its preparing the way for the 'Driverless car '
  40. I’m afraid I can’t help yet but please keep going on this as it’s a mod I’m really ready for when I collect my Superb next week!! Would love to join the FL rear light group like I have with my Octy. Good luck!
  41. Interesting (Snow) moon this evening

5w40 fully synthetic is probably better than 10w40, I think.
  44. It works like a charm. I use Spotify and since the Car Play is wireless I don't have to touch anything and my music starts playing right away when I get in the car. Also there is some integration between Apple Maps and the VC - I can set a route on Apple Maps and then I get the arrows and instructions in the VC using the standard VC navigation interface from Skoda (so may be you need to buy VC + Amundsen with navigation for it to work). Considering how cra... subpar the Skoda navigation is compared to Apple Maps or Google Maps, this integration with Car Play is quite refreshing and useful to see.
  45. A tip re using trolley jacks. Buy a rubber ice hockey puck and cut a slot in it to go over the sill seam jacking point. I had to also do some cut outs on the underside so it fitted the cup on the jack. Works a treat. tom
  46. I did some testing with my 1.6tdi fabia. From 50 to 80 mph in 4th it peaked at 14.6 psi and trailed off to around 13.3 psi during this run. My car is a 105 hp model for reference. Again this was using torque and I have it set to calculate boost from the MAF ( as thats what my car has). More than likely your cars fine. You could run some premium diesel through it and see if it makes a difference.
  47. Suspension all done, been for a blast and all seems fine, it’s actually really comfy, more so then the eibachs and polo gti shocks. Also serviced her as I’ve not changed the oil since the engine went in although she’s only done just under 6k.
  48. I need to start to drink white wine. This will sort out the packaging problem. Sometimes the most obvious answers are just staring you in the face I guess
  49. Well after 2 years we finally won our case through the motoring ombudsman against my Skoda dealer.Originally I had a strange rattle on startup .l took the car into the garage twice worried it was the cam chain tensioner.l was told they were not concerned only for the tensioner to fail a month later .l had to pay.for a new engine but paid under protest.l the took the garage on through the motoring ombudsman giving them as much evidence as l could with reference to me telling the garage what l thought the problem was and loads of articles, utube videos and VW technicle bullitens. After two years the Ombudsman have found in my favour and the garage reluctantly have had to refund me for the cost of the new engine. It was a long slog but l got there eventually.
