  1. What idiot told you it would protect the cam better, never listen to them again, the protection comes from the zinc in the additive pack and is not related to the base oil stock at all. Swap back.
  2. I have several issues with the Kamiq. The interior quality is obviously more Scala/Fabia than Octavia/Superb The platform is also the MQB AO platform and the most powerful versions can only tow 1250kg. (Yeti 2100kg) And the seating position is more Scala Scout than SUV. Looking at the Kamiq 1.5 SEL and Karoq 1.5SEL the lists are £26k vs £29k . The Karoq feels like a £29k car, the Kamiq doesn't feel like a £26k car. So for me it's either go bigger and go Karoq or swap manufacturers. The Kamiq is no Yeti replacement for me.
  3. Please can I ask members to keep their posts polite and to avoid using offensive language. I appreciate that what might be offensive to one person, may not appear to be to another, however you do need to consider the wider audience when posting. That doesn't mean having to sugar coat everything, but you do need to pick appropriate language. I do also understand that there can be a degree of lost in translation where English may not be the first language of the poster, but in those cases I would suggest the mindset of if in doubt, perhaps don't say it.
  4. Purchased last year during Covid so that we could have some way of getting away from the teenagers for a weekend
  5. Following on from this great forum, after buying my 2016 TDI sportline estate and found the ride to be dreadful, I recently replaced my own shocks with Koni Special Active dampers bought from here; Performance Car Parts - K&N, Bilstein, BC Racing, Eibach Exhausts and Suspension and more (dcperformance.co.uk) again as documented on this forum. The difference is amazing and DC Performance service was great. Made my Superb much more pleasant to drive Angelo
  6. I need to get some seats from Estonia 🤔
  7. Well along with my vRS, i have just bought this little badger for my daughter as a first car. 8000 miles and a little minter!
  8. At risk of waking the 5w40 gruffalo's on here I will only say this. Lower viscosity -> lower friction Lower viscosity -> higher flow rate at constant pressure Lower viscosity oils advertise benefit of lower fuel consumption. So not surprised at what you've seen. Just make sure your oil meet the manufacturers specification for pd, vw 505.01 ...cue yet another everyone's an expert on oils thread. So for that reason I'm out.....
  9. A post about relative levels of ZDDP in 505 01 and 507 00: https://www.vwaudiforum.co.uk/forum/showthread.php/25143-What-oil-should-I-use-04-Passat-130-1-9-TDi?p=1011316#post1011316 Don't dismiss the possibility that something else is going on with your engine; until you switch back and witness reversal of the observed changes.
  10. No. Pushing the connector back on is tricky due to access and it's tight.
  11. Sounds like you’re the eBay seller trying to drum up some business.

Dear fellow drivers, time to say goodbye to my Skoda Octavia 2.0TDi Mk2, first reg 2007 . For nearly 10 years, 100k miles it took me through to all corners of GB. A very reliable companion, not fussy and quite powerful too! We did have some special moments together replacing the EGR, rear wiper motor, installing various Bluetooth and camera hacks, peek at the OBD port with Torque, upgrade to the ultimate Chinese Android head-unit and debugging the parasites with the ampmeter during the pandemic. But the car is 15 years old now, the service book is now at the last page and maintenance costs start to compare to it's total value. With regret I will sell the car, but - yaay! - I got a younger Octavia Mk3 FL which can't wait to go on the road! I got some valuable help on the forum and didn't give much back so thank you! See you on the Mk3 forum
  13. I believe the vented are only on the 272/280 engined Superbs 👍
  14. Average, according to the car after 2000 miles is 36.2. Best I have seen is 42.5. 51.5 seems almost unbelievable - was it downhill most of the way?
  15. Just replace them like for like. So in your case it would be non vented.
  16. Not a direct answer but ECPs parts look up by reg is shoddy to put it nicely. Our Fabia has drums at the rear, ECP suggests rear discs as a choice for our reg.
  17. I have replaced my data cds with a USB-C memory stick to store my music collection. The Media player in my MIB3 Amundsen finds tracks easily, by artist, album or genre, and you can also store these as favourites for quick access. Note that the favourite can also be an artist or genre as well as a single album. There's no way to link an iPod that I have found. Chris
  18. Yes it will have regenerative braking. They all do.
  19. Customs is massively intermittent quality at present, but delays are also added to by all the variables of different handling companies / couriers etc. Amazon Prime has set our expectations too high ! My other half imports and exports a lot of products for her business, and frequently contacts various providers to understand what delays are going on. Air freight and land logistics are better than they were late last year / earlier this year, but still held up by a lot of red-tape nationally and internationally. Best bet is to wait an extra week or so, and ensure you get tracked & signed postage on whatever you buy. Difficult with SuperSkoda/Kopacek (not sure if it is / was an option?) - but hang in there, it'll be worth the wait. #NewCarPartsDay 🎇🎆✨
  20. Having done both I would fish it through the roof liner every time now. I have had the A, B and C pillar trims off two Octavias and a Yeti several times and it holds no fear for me, people freak out a bit regarding the curtain airbags but they have no reason to. Even if I were still happy to grovel around on my knees & were able to focus in the gloom the cable threading is so much easier at high level.
  21. Must admit I miss the 6 CD player I had in my Yeti. Although I have stuff on a USB stick it's not the same as putting the latest disc into the car player. My old iMac just crashed so now I have no means of copying from a CD to a USB stick. tom

ours is two years younger but has done 116k miles but I hope to get a few more years out of it yet, all cars cost money to run unfortunately, good luck with the mkiii
  23. My old B5.5 Passat had a window regulator carrier which was a big sheet of metal and regulators attached to that right PITA. Audi of the same age had 4 bolts and glass comes with it too, much simpler
  24. Lookin good for a '96'. 👍
  25. Sorry for that post.. I didn't mention the URL

It's an advisory: ignore it, especially since it may not be repeated next year, or even at a different MOT station.
  27. If 1100kg is the MTPLM (had to google it - maximum technically permissible laden mass) then it should be fine. Always worth checking the nose weight with a bit of wood and the bathroom scales, aim for 75kg.
  28. Looks great but the driver's rubber mat looks like it could do with a replacing Good on you for getting a manual.
  29. It depends what you want. I would predict that the 1.4 doesn't breath enough to make a huge difference with a full inlet kit let alone a drop in filter. If you are looking at doing it on the cheap you should probably take a look at what you have and see if there are any restrictions. For example the 2.0 inlet has: half of the start of the inlet blocked off, half the back side of the inlet opening is open to the engine bay a snow guard in the air box Fix these things and you should notice an improvement at least in noise. The 1.4 may have similar restrictions. Those sausage shape things are apparently there to damp the noise so remove/blank those may a starting point. Just don't mess with any sensors.
  30. The Kodiaq is bigger, taller. But I don't know what size wheels you get in India, so unable to comment on ride, it is likely (and again I don't know India specs) that a 2 litre petrol has a better rear suspension so will ride better in fast corners than the lower powered car. Being a taller car the suspension may be a bit firmer to stop body roll in corners. As both have DSG gearboxes you probably wont notice the difference between diesel and petrol (except of course petrol will be quieter), as the latest gearboxes tend to keep engine in optimum power range. The petrol will probably go up through the gears quicker, and will change down more when you reach a hill.
  31. If you decide to go with a detachable then look for a Westfalia towbar. These were fitted to Yeti's as factory fit so are compatible with the foam cutouts in the boot and sit correctly with the bumper cut out.

It should be coded to the car and unlock if you switch the ignition on with the radio off and then turn the radio on.
  33. Isn't every problem posted on here a first world problem.

From German forum. Looks like devices ending with <D will get 1671 SW and devices >D will get 1803 SW version.
  35. It was done across range by Skoda, Seat, VW from about 9 months ago From memory, also replaced USB-A sockets by USB-C (interestingly we have just bought a new IPad and that has USB-C instead of old Apple lightning connector), so appears everything is going that way
  36. First time we've ever got this close to the Grebes VID_20210420_193949.mp4 Not sure if the video displays for others?
  37. I don’t know for Octavia, but for Scala / Kamiq, you need the following requirements: Android Auto wireless is compatible only with software version 0270 and hardware H22. These specifications are available on model built after week 48/2020. Here are the minimum requirement regarding wireless Android Auto : https://support.google.com/androidauto/answer/6348019?hl=en#zippy=%2Candroid-auto-on-your-car-display-wireless
  38. Oh, OK, I catch you then! Yes, the Haldex oil is quite thin (thinner than engine oil). Thus, to avoid spilling oil upon syringe removal, you need to keep its head up. With one hand you gently bring the piston rod downwards, whereas with your over hand you pull the hose out and keep it updwards. But even with your best efforts, be sure there will be few oil drops on your work area...
  39. @JR RS Thanks again for this additional information. One of the ross-tech forum specialists told me there should be a CF controller for RTA. But he admitted he wasn't 100% sure of it. This explains my previous message. If you say you don't see any CF controller with your HEX-V2 cable, this make me think I should concentrate on RTA controller or harnesses connectors. A good step forward anyway! Thanks!
  40. Recently been having a temperamental passenger door lock, when unlocking car by remote or touch, passenger door would not open from outside until it was opened once from inside. lock and unlock it and it does it again. Decided to investigate and managed to remove the door panel (with a bit of fuss), and lo and behold a fiddle with the connectors and seems to work fine now. I'll leave it off for a bit to see if it behaves. I have read that on some Skoda models, lock issues are common. Anyone else or just me ? Angelo
  41. If you put a 23mm front roll bar on without any rear anti roll bar for a track day, you may as well pick your spot that you want to sit behind the barrier on track now, as it will be understeer central. You would need at least a whiteline rear bar roll bar if not something more, it really depends on your driving style on track. Just out of interest, have you upgraded the brakes at all yet?.

Yeah agree and the dsg is another one too, I drove my wife’s manual Fabia the other day and I’d never want to go back to a manual now even with the power my 280 has!
  43. As above. There is a pretty common problem with the accumulator splitting. This can on first sight look like a clutch failure. But a fault code (or two) should appear with this fault. It's also very easy to sort out. Drain oil, remove cover, replace parts (comes with a kit with a new seal etc), refit the cover and refill the gearbox.
  44. After getting it aligned, wheels straight again and toe is back to normal. Ended up only costing 20 euro cause I was in a few weeks ago after doing the tie rods. I did not get a print out this time but that doesnt really matter now.
  45. Was lucky enough to change from the yeti to a Kia Soul sport nearly 3 years ago,no 4wd but don’t miss it (didn’t realise it had stopped working on the yeti for a number of months) and the soul sport is better in every way and a pleasure to drive, still really enjoying it and if I had to change the Xc 40 looks about right but far too expensive so more than happy with the sport and never missed the yeti but enjoyed for the 4 years We owned it.onward and upwards as they say and dodged the bullet with the karot jumping 1.5 engine so win win.
  46. Sure, a free 4 weeks holiday to Bali. All included.
  47. Hello guys, thanks for replies. Both oil and filter are genuine. Oil is 5w30( castrol magnetec) and filter is from genuine source exactly same as factory fitted. Recently i tested the pressure switches with multimeter while opening their connectors. I started the enginne and checked the continuity of switches. I am wondering the switches do not change from NO (normally open) to closed state. I will see with gauge plugged in to know actual pressure. Will post if any further progress is made.
