  1. Crowbar down between rear disc face and wheel bearing housing, exert outward pressure and then use hammer percussion on the disc. May need to rotate disc and repeat in two or three places. Top tip from experience, partially fit one wheel bolt so that when the disc does let go it doesn't smack into any parts of you...
  2. Goodbye summer, see you next year.
  3. Thanks, helpful again. I've picked up some std Bilsteins to try out. Agree they are great off road 😁
  4. Given time, I'll use my hazard lights whilst I'm braking, but when I'm stopped and someone else is stopped behind me I see no reason to leave them on in a healthy car!
  5. If someone has stopped behind you it's a pretty fair bet that they have realised that you are not moving even if you're not dazzling them.
  6. Thats sounds like your rear mainseal has failed. It can do it after a pcv failure or the glue on the seal just seperates due to age (the new revision is sandwiched toprevent this happening). Its an easy fix albeit expensive labour costs. My clutch was covered in oil so needed replacing as well. Heres me diagnosing mine after two dealers and two indy garages couldnt work out what the problem was. https://youtu.be/dTRXkwSwbxM
  7. Need to clean mine really... don't really have related issues but I'm working through everything... Want to investigate this recalibration thing, prefer doing things off the car... out in the road I get accosted by neighbours. They're elderly and can chat for ages.
  8. you keep getting sunsets, i keep getting sunrises yesterday morning from the top of long hill, after pedalling on up there.
  9. after almost two month listening the canton system in the new 2021 VRS i can clearly say that over the standard system there is little to almost no difference. don't be sad that you couldn't spec it. it doesn't worth it.

Picked up a little run about. Sorted out the Audio gave it a wash and replaced badges so far.
  11. .................................................................................... and check the level more often 😄
  12. ErWin for HOW ETKA for WHAT
  13. Yeah, the warning light is for the front pads, not the rear drums.
  14. Absolutely bloody incredible, thank you so much.
  15. Do you mean pausing and not gaining revs before but changes or it keep revving higher and changes near the red line?
  16. They do generally last longer unless they're horrible cheap soft pads.
  17. It's the 1.5 came from a manual so used to being heavy footed and it's raining tonight
  18. Steering assist module 44 under 'Chassis' tab in VCDS.
  19. Yes mate was up that way last week 👍
  20. Item 8 here, I think (from this page: floating caliper brake; version - Octavia(OCT) [EUROPA 2016 year] (7zap.com))? Part number WHT 003 250, M8 x 22. Not sure what the MK indicates, maybe referring to prefitted blue threadlock stuff? Sometimes these are included with pad sets, I think?
  21. ErWin doesn't do parts info, not sure who suggested to you that it does. Just munching dinner, will try to find the relevant ETKA page for you shortly.
  22. Did you pull inadvertently on the lever so that the gearbox is in S mode, though DCC in Eco mode ? May be worth to check. Gears will appear in S1, S2, S3... on the center display or VC, if this is true.
  23. The big difference is software of the DQ200 DSG in the 1.0 & 1.5 TSI. Then Skoda / VW / Audi / SEAT had no issue getting WLTP Certification with 1.0 TSI with a GPF in which ever PS they gave them. Not all brands gave then the same max power. The 1.5 TSI ACT 150ps was a whole different matter, they struggles to manipulate them for testing and had to try try and try again to get the low emissions and not cause issues with real world driving. So you have driving modes, coasting or not, Active Cylinder Technology and changes as they messed about and dealt with early and not so early issues of the Joey in a pouch type.
  24. That is the polar opposite to mine. I wonder if that is a difference between the 1.0 DSG mapping and the 1.5 DSG mapping. Mine is also 2019 so the harvesting algorithms may well be different I suppose. Who knows 🙂 cheers, Paul
  25. My Octavia IV has a problem with phone auto-connect. It will pair a phone easily enough but will randomly fail to auto-connect thereafter. Bizarrely if I open a car door whilst ‘in fault’ the car auto-connects with Bluetooth straight away every time. After a whole year of attempting to solve the issue on four separate occasions Skoda has at last informed my garage of a software problem causing the issue. It appears that this problem is well known to Skoda and effects reversing cameras also. The fix is still being prepared but here are the technical details: Infotainment model - MIB O1-SW1805 Fault Cause - Software fault MIB Solution - The new software for MIB, SW 1805 is being prepared that should resolve the problems mentioned. No indication yet of when the new software will be available but I hope this is of some use or help to other Skoda owners who have MIB 01-SW1805 Infotainment system and are experiencing intermittent Bluetooth dropout problems with phones and reversing cameras.
  26. Yeah man... I kinda cocked up the thread title, typically.. https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/492161-this-ones-ours/ I've already drilled the turrets, used masking tape, fairy dust and prayer - not the latter, I'm not religious. I just need a smaller pair of hands to get under there, save me jacking it up.
  27. Nice.... looks great mate 😎 Got a k brace wating to go in mine (and waiting for swmbo to assist with bolting up the tt front brace), building up the courage to drill the holes. There was a set of black 17" spiders for £80 recently.. I'm sticking with the 16s or would have snapped them up.
  28. 4 weeks, without prior warning, is getting on for excessive imo.... My clutch journey starts next year..... can't wait (he said, sarcastically)
  29. Of course, the main use of hazard warning lights is to permit parking in prohibited areas. At least it seems that way judging by the number of times its done.
  30. the dimensioned drawing gives a 611mm boot cill height which is easier to measure than the roof height.
  31. Reads like a stuck or intermittently stuck switch. Dismantle slightly and spray electrical contact cleaner into the switches... Then work the switches a few times each. Alternator...
  32. VC - Virtual Cockpit DIS - Drivers Information System?
  33. It look close enough for government work. It may be a tad higher but your photo angle would exaggerate the gap slightly anyway. Assuming the bump stops and shock covers are standard. If you price the standard shocks on eBay, they're £30-£50 a PAIR. Replacements for my Eibach pro-kit cost £190 a pair. If you need the car swapping out the shocks for standard to get it through MOT seems sensible. Mine, shortly after purchase new in 2005.
  34. Here is the pic from Infotainment boot from deep sleep. Press start and it instantly changes.
  35. aubrey, exactly the same here. When refitting, I always wipe a finger of copper grease round the hub where the disc sits. Also coat the back of the pads & the sliders with Mintex Ceratec anti brake squeal. Does the job well.
  36. The mpgs will be lower if you do lots of town and city driving. These cars are not true 4x4 as the rear axle is on only active when pulling away or when the car senses a loss of traction. Add in extra weight and higher drag efficiency and you have a less economic car. But the trade off is it is better in adverse weather conditions.
  37. Oil pressure warning is a separate system @J.R.. As I understand it, this is about the sump sensor, which is just temperature and level. I've never experimented, but I suspect oil level warnings may still be operational even if the oil temperature is not being displayed. I guess just unplugging the sensor may be the safest test of that, compared to progressive emptying of sump to see if a level warning is triggered. I might try that (unplugging) later on my Polo to see what warnings I get.
  38. Oooh... Good spot there! Following the hoses back it looks like it's boggo diesel you're right! Somewhat less dangerous then but still pretty stupid???
  39. The B5 had a bigger tank (62 vs 60 l). I suspect the reserve point is set at a higher volume too. I think the biggest fillup I've ever done on mine is around 55 l and the MFD was showing less than 20 km remaining. I have corrected the MFD fuel consumption factor so it reads true as well. It looks like it makes sure there is still a bit left in the tank when the gauge hits zero. It's also not clear how much of the tank volume is available for fuel, or how tank volume is determined/specified.
  40. Good reply about the Boxster brakes! is it because I have a Boxster sitting in the garage at home? Ha ha. I’m sure it would be happier keeping it’s brakes!!!
  41. Very easy to do just Click here You might have to go into cluster display to check it to on I think the rns315 has built in Bluetooth,
  42. Last week of September, absolutely crazy eh.. Anyway so despite the busy weekend i managed to get something done at least, i.e clean out the throttle body, turns out it really is a sub 30 min job. Nice and easy, undo jubo clip holding the hose onto the TB, think it was like an 8mm socket iirc and boom you've got one side of it.. Looking at it from this side i really didn't think it was too bad, cleaned it up using a cloth, some ear buds and a spray bottle of carb cleaner but apart from the coked up area around the actual throttle plate i thought it was surprisingly clean. Moved on to taking out the allen bolts, think they were 5mm, to reveal the other side and mother of god it was awful Look at the state of that, safe to say i figured this was part of if not all the reason to the jerky throttle response and hesitation. i did make sure not to unplug it as i don't have easy access to VCDS to re-calibrate it.. i know people say that just leave the key in position 1 or something to reset it but id rather not take the risk seeing as this cars my daily. Cleaned it all up, above is before, below is after Did it the best i could and i think i did a pretty good job considering the state of it before hand. Cleaned up both of the mating faces on the TB and Intake mani and sandwiched a fresh gasket between them to call it a job done All in all, easy job to do and just as abit of maintenance i'd highly advise doing it. The result? The car really does feel like it picks up better and generally just feels more alive, especially in the lower rev range the pick up seems stronger and when motoring around in low revs theres no judder, no hesitation and the overall driving experience is much much smoother. A must do job for anyone who hasn't done it, i did think it was a placebo effect and that it would wear off at the start but its been 2/3 days now and i'm still amazed at the result you can get for the sake of £10.00 (Carb cleaner from halfords and a gasket) Gasket i got was a Febi - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/174087885784 Cleaner i got was - https://www.halfords.com/motoring/engine-oils-and-fluids/fuel-and-oil-additives/carlube-carb-and-air-intake-cleaner-247638.html Cheers!
  43. Had to clean the maf (fluctuating revs on idle) so I figured a little sprucing would be OK too....

Look for 'Travel Mode' in the settings.
  45. Bought myself a 2017 (MY18) Superb Sportline 280PS - no additional options from the high NZ spec. Only things that the car is missing are sunroof, heated windscreen and steering wheel (heated steering wheel not available that model year in NZ).

My '66 plate 280 L&K has paddles. Not sure if they were std as I purchased the car used at 25k miles - it's just ticked over to £50k & still going great. I use the paddles & sport mode to manually change down when approaching roundabouts or lights. Can't say I'd miss them if they weren't there but I have now got used to them. We have just acquired a 19 plate Karoq Edition - wife's car. It too has paddles & I was trying to explain to my wife what they do & how to use. I shouldn't have bothered, she was more interested what colours options there were for the ambient lighting!😒

  48. I had a beige interior on a 2011 Superb Elegance and I adored it.. Yes, now and again you get stains on the seats, but I would always rather see the stains, clean them off rather than them go hidden.. I then got a 2015 Fabia - with a black interior - I hate it.. (personal preference!). I am now eagerly waiting for a Karoq with ........... drum roll ......... beige interior... all will be well in my world again....
  49. Viaduct over the tweed
  50. Not much to go on here, but I've looked at my accelerator pedal and it has two plugs connected where you only have one plugged in. I think you'd see the plug hanging around and you would have to unclip it from the socket with some effort. So I doubt it's missing anything. I wonder if it could be different due to different specifications. Mine is the Dsg, so automatic. you might not have a lower foam cover at all if you have a knee airbag, there is a softer plastic cover below mine where the airbag module is situated.
