  4. Dig out the invoice and remind them, I just bet it'll turn out to be something else!
  5. It's rebuilt, and it runs, which is a bonus I hope I never have to do that again.
  6. Getting any car from "The North" or UK is no longer an option here unfortunately - I have been driving my vRS for nearly 3 years now and never met another one yet. In fact the Mk1 Fabia is notable by its absence here ! I got a few bits from a 01 1.2 that a breaker has in Tuam. The only reason the car is being broken is nobody wanted it... She has all her glass and doors so interior si dry - I didnt look up to see the headliner but the interior is grey ! I cant recall if it has a sunroof ...! I'll drop by there and let you know Monday DM....! If there's anything you can think of you need Im only too happy to give them a shout ! I will
  7. Let me know how much of an improvement this makes. I imagine it'll be quite good. I'm needing to do the same with my BME Furby too, handles like a dinghy on rough seas on most A and B roads.
  8. Here is my RS with the new winter wheels and Michelin Pilot Alpin 5.
  9. ULEZ is Euro 4 for petrol, right? But it depends on variant, there are 6 variants (I think), only two being Euro 4 .
  10. I think I paid £1.629(?) a litre tonight, I don't normally notice, for BP Ultimate petrol but I think it's always an expensive petrol station, M&S Shop now too I noticed. If we come back the same way tomorrow I'll refill there again and take more notice.
  11. Should get one of those switches with the covers over them like on jets and stuff. This is what I wanted to hear. I keep seeing this local (well, local enough) red SDI estate that is a tempting beast...
  12. I'll have a think of what I might need and get back to you. Getting a northern one or a uk one isn't as big of a problem for me, what I would do is register it in the north, strip it and scrap it and put all into my car. Genuinely would work out much much cheaper reshelling a vrs from the north than buying one of the very very few southern vRS', or importing one. Never seem to find any running fabias of any sort around here anyhow. EvryMod was done this evening, while I'm still fine tuning it theres definately a noticeable power bump from it. Pulls much better now and especially I've noticed it making more power at the top end. Don't worry this is only temporary, I plan on putting the potentiometer into one of the blanks to make it a little neater. I'll add a switch to the ""circuit"" too to turn it completely on or off at will. Pic of my horrid wiring, When I was stripping one of the wires it broke so I had to put a connection on it to join it back up. With this mod you join the potentiometer to the wires to pinout 2 and 3, there are proper connectors you can get to do this properly but I didn't have any handy so... I'll tape these up and "weatherproof" them a bit better next day. First video I took a while back of this car idling away normally. Then, with the EvryMod installed but set to the higher end of the potentiometer. And then with it set way down, running very rich. Took it out for a bit of "fine tuning" and testing. Was an absolute riot, car pulled very well, cornered well with the coilovers, seats did a great job holding me in and all.
  13. At great extremes but probably more to do with the oil itself - but you're not a great extremes. Perhaps it was a tank of rough petrol but more likely is the computers messing with whatever on the car to have it running the way the computers want at that time. Or the noise was from something else that is no longer in play or has stopped for the while or yes you're paranoid and should stop worrying unduly. Once you start hearing noise you starting listening for them and can probably hear some you've previously took no notice of. 5w-30, if suitable for your car and is of a good quality, is a better choice for this time of year, the number 5w and 30 are bands rather than strict numbers so can vary within the bands and some oils are better than others and work better and last longer giving greater parameters of protection that some might need and want and others don't need or want. Keep the whole car (the engine is behind a few other components and systems in importance) well serviced, maintained and repaired using good quality parts and materials and that will help to keep the whole car including the engine running well (and often quieter).

Skoda are still guessing. You have to feel sorry for the dealers who are selling this rubbish and left entirely without support.
  16. ^^^ Good stuff. Hopefully the parking attendants are made aware that if a Charger stops working and a car is in the charging bay and the driver is trying to get a charger working or one cuts out then they do not issue a penalty ticket as has happened at other locations including in Edinburgh & Perth. It is unbelievable what Car Park Staff will do at times.
  17. Hopefully it's just an unlucky manufacturing fault and when replaced it will be ok They tried updating software etc but it didn't work only 3000 kms on it now but the shudder was there from early on
  18. Different strokes for different folks. Different needs and wants and looks are in the eye of the beholder.
  19. Just 4, and if it was only 2 months back it should be a free warranty job IMO. Possibly a misdiagnosis both times.
  20. But still a good visual aid for the many blind idiots on the roads.
  21. More progress made. Skim of filler, plenty of flatting and a coat of high build primer/filler. Still a few areas that need some flatting and a smidge of filler as they only show up once the primer is on and flatted. Picked up the top coat from a local autopaints specialist yesterday, hopefully get the top coat and lacquer on this weekend as the forecast is looking dry and mild.
  22. The rear roofline of the hatch is different to the estate, and the headliner is moulded, so not a chance.
  23. No, the estate has much larger roof, so...
  24. Happened for me! Twice. Already been in Skoda dealership etc. but no one could say something is bad and they tried with their phones and it was OK. Also happens ONLY with the waze app. However i found out that i think it is app fault (as my pixels appeared after waze app update). What helped me was i did a full reset of my waze app ( in search of waze app on phone type: ##@resetapp) And after the full reset - its already around 1 month - no issues Hope that helps. Weird issue though
  25. His new bike nearly ready to roll, pedals going on later, on charge then a quick run around the local park to see what's what...

Hi, My name is David and I've just registered. I'm hoping to buy a Skoda Superb estate and hopefully get some advice on the pros and cons of various things. Don't know much about cars at all but it's always good to learn!👋

  28. The wipers on all VW branded cars are the same, it's pot luck if you get good 'uns. My advice would be to first clean them with some neat screen washer fluid. If you need to replace them then don't buy more VW rubbish buy something like Bosch aeros. Outlets such as EuroCarParts usually have them on offer - you'll pay half the price of the replacements from your dealer for wipers that are x10 better. I too have just had my '70 reg Kodiaq serviced with just under 4000 miles on the clock - it's fine. VW discs are exactly the same as their wipers, quality is all over the place. What you're likely to be seeing on a car so new tho and defo on the cars in the showroom, is surface rust. If I'd been in your shoes I'd have asked why pay £335 for them to rust within a year? Given what you say, I'd defo contact Skoda and quote verbatim what you were told. I'm pretty sure they'll be now't wrong with your discs but there's enough evidence to suggest they were faulty at the point of manufacture. Was your car been serviced at the place you bought it? If so then have a word with the dealer principal and explain what you've been told by servce. If the discs on his showroom cars are showing similar signs of rust then you have a stonewall case that they supplied a product that was faulty at the time of sale and it's up to them to sort it out. ( they'll liase with Skoda to avoid paying the bill themselves ). It's usually on cars several years old that the discs need replaced. Same advice as with the wipers - why replace a poor quality product with another? Replace them with a brand name that has a reputation for quality, And have this done at a 3rd party garage - it'll be much cheaper than main dealers. One last comment on VW discs. It's good practice to brake heavy a few times when starting your journey - clears that surface rust.
  29. Height was not an issue as I have a Shogun van. High, high seat & tall windscreen to see out. Lots of cars have too low a screen if the seat is set high or even at it,s lowest. I have only a left leg and use standard pedals so that i can drive any auto, never used pedal conversions for decades now. That does not suit a Duster, not a Octavia or many other cars. Fine with a Fabia and various cars though. Even a Yeti is not great because of the inner sill. People get to know what suits their needs for different times of a week or year or whenever for what ever. Easy in and out is not the whole story. Lower roofs can suit carrying stuff on racks while loading a SUV / crossover / talk 4x4 can be less handy.
  30. I am tempted by nets as its big old boot!
  31. The issue for me was the seating position in a Duster Automatic, it just did not suit me. I looked at one when i got rid of my last Jimny after having driven them for 18 years.
  32. Below is a photo of a Bradex BX4 4-amp charger virtually the same as the one I have that's still going strong rescuing neighbours' batteries - despite a neighbour trying to kill it by locking it in her black car with all the windows closed on the hottest days of this year. As the battery was still connected to the car (lost radio code) opening the door was the last straw and the charger stopped working, it was a picture to see the neighbour's face when this happened, I just looked, disconnected the charger and secretly blew on it and reconnected it moments later for it to spring back to life but I took it back as the car was also being driven (running around for a son in his 40s!) so the concept of a long slow and low charge had been lost. I can tell within 5-10 minutes by the needle position and how it moves, or not, moves how low the battery is and whether it might be a very long time for full recharge (well as much as the battery can take).
  33. I ordered in the middle of September. This week I have been given a delivery date of late January 2022.

7yrs is the design life of the cars these days...but I still wouldn't trust it.....
  35. Autumnal colours earlier..........
  36. yup, original ride height 🙂. Price looked good to me! New bump stops ordered - went for a pair of Meyle.
  37. The way to do this is to prefix the search in google with "site:https://www.briskoda.net" (without the quotes) EG: entering the following in a google search gets good hits site:https://www.briskoda.net how to hardwire a dash cam yeti https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=site%3Ahttps%3A%2F%2Fwww.briskoda.net+how+to+hardwire+a+dash+cam+yeti
  38. Again do you need a new battery or just need a full recharge, a long low and slow recharge (not high, quick and fast), overnight at least but best done off the car for as long as required until the battery is fully recharged. I went against my own advice and changed the battery on my wife's 2016 out of panic, laziness and because we hadn't had the car from new but the previous battery is with my mate and still fine AFAIK. Coding is easy if you have the correct and relevant tool. There's a map, it was very useful for me and I note there's a pin in Bedford. - VCDS Owners Map If not I could see if my neighbour is able/wants to help with his scan tool.
  39. Certainly sounds like friction giving it a stick-slip movement. Check the part around the bottom of the needle is not pushed down too far (my best guess) and also check the end of the needle is not touching anywhere. Unlikely to have damaged the motors unless the shafts has been moved inwards.
  40. Windows 11 File Manager I was using on the tricky one which was the Skoda site for the Mib2 High release. That worked whilst the Skoda site zipped file thru up errors on 7zip and WinRaR. Don't reckon the Seat zipped files are affected by the zipping process, just Skoda. You generally use 7zip first until one hit the Skoda zip file issue.
  41. Just got an email from Skoda Ireland. Allegedly, there is a software fix for the lights and ACC due out for week 48. I’ll believe it when I see it.
  42. @Gerrycan have you watched/listened to the Unwin video? I'm confused by your last paragraph because it seems to fly in the face of what Unwin is saying. High carbohydrate means high sugar, because the former is almost instantly converted into the latter. This is unnecessarily difficult for the body to deal with compared to protein and fat as nutrients. So you are seemingly doing the opposite of what is being recommended here? Your BMI is fine, isn't it? Waist circumference is felt to be a better thing to measure though, I think, lately

    208kW (280hp) and 470Nm (345 lb-ft) + damp dirt roads = lots of fun! Here's a few photos of my grubby Sportline
  44. I definitely have the situation where if it's going to play up on a journey it's pretty permanent in doing it, whereas on other journeys (infrequent as it is ) it works OK. While it's not the only time it occurs, I often get it happening after pulling out from behind a slower vehicle in the left lane which the ACC slows me down for. The system 'drops' the lock on that car but then picks it up again as I draw level stopping me over taking. If I'm already in the right lane it happens less often.

Without try to replicate this, 15 minutes seems quite a long time for the auto stop/start to leave the engine off, I would have thought that the cabin temperature demand or the battery voltage state would have switched it back on before 15 minutes, mind you, if I considered that the traffic was not moving for 15 minutes, I would have switched the engine off probably within 5 minutes.
  46. The choices of factory HU changed mid 2015 with the facelift. The newer ones wont drop in to the old car. The age of your car is important to know which factory upgrades are possible.

All modern cars burn oil, it's how they're designed. Piston rings are low pressure to reduce friction and the oil is very thin so the engine uses less fuel. You trade trace amounts of oil for lots of fuel.
