  1. Easy solution; put the correct bulbs back in.
  2. I have 17’s as winter tyres on my 4x4 2.0Tsi, not much room but they do fit.
  3. That's odd as I have 17" wheels which fit.
  4. I'm a newbie here so I won't go all in and say what I really think and get a ban for my first post. But.... you really need to give your head a wobble!
  5. Been out with my 35mm SLR because I've been off for a wee while and have had even more time on my hands. Scanner done it no justice really, the print looks much better, but I've run it through some editing software to brighten it up a tad. fabia.bmp
  6. I don't understand why motoring groups and others aren't fighting the "luxury car tax" tooth and nail. The threshold hasn't increased in the 5 years since it was introduced and it now catches many pretty mainstream, ordinary cars. It's a blatant ripoff
  7. I completely discombobulated this Chaffinch when I played the video back to it! VID_20220421_192839.mp4 VID_20220421_192839.mp4
  8. Activate parking brake before puting dsg to P. Only way to avoid this.
  9. Yes it looks like that one is long dead. Nothing as stunned to be a car as the Morgan aero8 though...
  10. Just finished checking her over again. All good, apart from the very small oil leak from the turbo 😞 Not gonna lie, I’m starting to worry that a stem seal hasn’t been fitted correctly. Gonna keep running her, change the oil and see where we are in a week. First up; connect up my VCDS cable to check some bits Injection timing as it should be and aircon compressor is working. Want to check the torsion value, but can’t find it. Will take a other look when I’ve got a bit more time. Decided at this point to disconnect my lead and put on the Snap-On machine as I remembered that I could use it to activate the fans to check they work, which they did. Guess I’ve not got the engine hit enough to force the fan to kick in for itself. Happy it’s working nonetheless. Attached the aircon machine and set it to go. No leak detected but only recovered 75grm of refrigerant, so probably why the fan wasn’t kicking in when I turned on the aircon. Can’t grumble as I’ve owned this car since 2011 and this is the very first time I’ve regassed it since I got the aircon to work again a few years ago now. Once the machine has run through everything it was time to test it ….. beautifully cold! Then it was time for the bomb to try and get rid of the bad smell when I turn the system off. Blowers smell nice again Once that had run it’s course, I put on my new car seat cover, which feels nice and thick so should keep the oil at bay. Smoke levels today seem to be worse, but I’ve just been pootling to work. Seems much better once I’ve spanked her for a bit. Gonna take her for a decent drive tomorrow evening and see what happens.
  11. and the woods.. into the trees... only 4.5k to go from Sir Thomas's Bridge, up the Blueway

  14. I can't say whether or not it's dangerous without an inspection. I can say I'd be looking to spent more like £1_000 based on the stated issues.
  15. Most LED bulbs that say they are can-bus are not and will bring up an alarm. In the UK since last year putting LEDs in a headlight designed for halogen is an MOT fail.
  16. in one word "idiots" and 18" can't be changed to smaller for 280ps 4x4 + L&K/Scout/Sportline while 280ps 4x4 + Ambition/Elegance comes with 17" Stratos in next 2023. car i will swap spare wheel from current car, 18" as spare wheel is worst of all choices -> https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/503478-installing-spare-wheel/?tab=comments#comment-5653889

Pure ethanol is hygroscopic which means it will absorb moisture from the air. That's just like most brake fluid hence the need to change it every few years. Once mixed in with the other components in petrol, it really shouldn't cause an issue if the car is in regular use. If it's an older vehicle that's laid up for half a year with a steel fuel tank then it might cause a issues. To be honest, it's more likely to finish off old plastic/rubber components but they are probably due for replacement anyway... I use E10 in my '69 Sprite without any negative effects. When I dragged it out of hibernation this spring, it happily started on the first turn of the key with half a tank of months old E10 - no water/rust etc in the fuel filter 👍
  18. Yeahbut them is yellow innit!

I wouldn't use E10 because it absorbs moisture & causes corrosion from what Ive been told. I personally think it's a tactic being used to get petrol cars off the road & the same for diesel. Goverments wanting everyone in electric vehicles is another scam me thinks 🤣
  20. Running it since the issue first occured has not been good for the engine if it was as simple as someone fitting the oil filter wrongly.
  21. As you would've seen by now, we have reverted to using the forum for posting in the marketplace. To make things easier and, to make selling your items a breeze, we've added a 'For Sale Template'. On your editor toolbar, you'll now find a 'Lightening Bolt', this is called stock replies. Clicking this will bring up another box. Clicking the 'For Sale Post Template' and, the editor pop will be populated with an editable template. Please try to add as much detail to your for sale post as possible.
  22. A 17" space saver tyre would need to have higher sidewalls than an 18" space saver tyre to maintain a similar outside diameter, eg. 125/80R17 instead of 125/70R18. A 125/80R17 would have even less performance than a 125/70R18. Similar outside diameters 125/80R17 631.8mm 125/70R18 632.2mm
  23. Big changes in the world of my little Fabia... First on the list... rust... I was pressure washing the car, went to do the sill and all the paint came off at a million miles an hour. I was gutted at first. I do see a benefit here as it allowed me to drown that area in Hammerite's Kurust and then slap a dollop of Flamenco Red touch-up pen paint on it. In terms of s***e paintwork, I've also developed another bout of lacquer peel under the other headlight. Again, could get it done properly, or I'll wait till the bumper is really bad then swap it for another one. Aye, it's effing hideous, but it should keep that little bit at bay, or make me feel better about it. I've said that if it gets to 20 years old then I'll look at getting it sorted professionally since it'll be a "classic" by then, allegedly. That's quite a daunting thought... It definitely deserves a bit more love as I'd hate to see it turn into a right rotten banger, so more on that much, much later. Next thing that was on my list was to finally pull a finger out my backside and sort the air conditioning out because it didn't work. At all. Which is bad in summer. DAMHIK. So in it went to Auld Arnie Shark today (since my Mum gets staff discount) to get the air conditioning serviced and re-gassed. Believe me, it's like a bloody fridge now. Never want to leave the car anymore! I'm very pleased, they've also cleaned it inside and out along with I reckon they've been spraying some lubricant on the console bushes or something as they're not as bad as they were when I dropped the car off. It doesn't feel as much like a rickety auld shed now, it feels a lot newer, like a nearly 62,000 mile car should, instead of feeling like a rolling death trap. Finally, I'll bring this post to a close with another modification that I've completed, as what else could I be doing at 19:30 at night?! I've always preferred the pre-facelift rear lights for the Fabia and ever since one of my rear lights got a right nasty scratch then I thought it was worth my while to swap both lights for some pre-facelift lights in a decent condition. So I present to you all, the car as it is now, with the pre-facelift lights. I'm still trying to hunt down a decent condition parcel shelf with the netting underneath, the little pop-out DIN cubby from the Elegance, and some other bits and bobs. I must make a list again of the bits I'd like.
  24. I was overtaken by this stunner earlier - sounded like thunder!! Front Cam.mp4 Rear cam.mp4
  25. The Fabia is mechanically the same car as a Polo in the drivetrain. ECP website is not terribly clever and neither are their cheap parts. Stick with a known OEM brand rather than imaginatively named Chinese crap.
  26. I use a product called wet & forget around the place to kill algae on the patio, walls, convertible car roof, boat, boat covers, shed, bins etc. Basically I spray everything with algae down once a year I usually give them and any other green bits from parking under trees a quick spray on my way past. One spray leave it to dry, looks a bit like a local cats pee'd on it until you next wash it but resist washing it for a little while, they clear up over a few weeks or so and stay clear for a year or so. Certainly until I next wet & forget a year later. Saves taking them out. Not worth buying just for the fog lights but I use it anyway as it saves a load of jet washing on everything else. Not found anything that it damages yet.
  27. We had that issue along with the navagated to destination being anywhere within 10 miles of the car, this was all at approx 3 years old, despite the dealer doing several head unit firmware upgrades/resets/drinking coffee and staring at it with purpose. It also had a replacement antenna, it was eventually resolved by replacing the Amundsen II headunit. Luckily we had reported it just before our 3rd year service, so Skoda Warranty paid for it as it had been several weeks before a resolution was found. Fingers crossed it just the antenna as I guess all Yeti's are out of warranty now.🤞
  28. I stumbled across this interesting video which shows that sometimes you can catch a cold when you opt for what is perceived to be a premium replacement for a faulty sensor, I wonder how many times people fallen into this kind of trap?
  29. Stick him on your ignore list, it'll be better for both of you.
  30. Yeah because any capacitors are never going to self discharge in the time it takes for a (long low slow) battery charge are they!
  31. I think a Cert. of Destruction has come through for this as I can't find anything on the Tax and MOT checker site. As an aside, I always think the ones with Xenons look a bit stunned, like "OMG, I'm a car!"
  32. Hi With some diesels, the low pressure pump in the tank (lift pump) runs when you turn the key to the first position, but is inhibited from running whilst you are cranking. Once cranking is over it runs again. If the rail fuel pressure (generated by the mechanical high pressure pump) is below a critical threshold, the ECU will stop the engine and store a fault code. Just wondering if the rail pressure is almost but not quite high enough at a critical point a second or so after the engine has fired up. First moves would be to get fault codes read and change the fuel filter in case it is restricting flow. Plenty of other possibilities of course.
  33. Ah I knew I wasn't going mad: https://web.archive.org/web/20051024022312/http://www.skoda.co.uk/skoda3g/content/showroom/fabia/pricing.aspx Xenon headlights [Fabia vRS only] £500
  34. Have you got the 2005/2006 brochure PDF? None of those links on your site seem to work at the minute and wanted to check something out. I saw this earlier: https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/398384581800076/ An elegance with xenon headlights. Looks pretty factory, as the correct headlight switch without levelling control and washers are in the bumpers. As far as I was aware, in the UK at least xenon were a vRS only option.
  35. Sorry, a bit late to this thread - oil filter variants on the CAXA engine were mentioned in an earlier thread linked here. Picture shows the 2 types have a different seal to the engine. A 2012 car will be the later type (right in picture) and it certainly appears that if the left hand type was fitted there wouldn't be a good seal.
  36. Yeah I see what you both mean. I was a little concerned about the welded sills but thought perhaps if it was welded that it wouldn't of been an issue but I can see where your both coming from. Thanks Guys
  37. Well there are some glaringly obvious difference between top and bottom views of that (one, right side) ebay lock, arrowed in pink on one image, but it's the lock ring 'catching bit' details that are the problem I think. If it were symmetrical, both views would have their yellow highlighted 'arrow' features pointing towards the front of the vehicle (green arrows on each view) but they don't here, forwards in left image, rearwards in right. So I reckon that's why the locking ring is failing to release, because these features are facing the wrong way on both sides of the car, with locks swapped across.
  38. Glad you took those Ronals off mate. Didn't want to say anything but I think they completely ruined the look of the car. Multispoke wheels always seem to suit the octavia best.
  39. Thanks very much. I was surprised my local motor factor couldn't supply one, or a compatible wing mirror either. Actually they were surprised too, as he said it's still a popular car, round here anyway....
  40. No I did not change oil . I just change filter and error is gone .it was wrong filter fitted and nobody thought that could be the issue. You guys point that out for me .engine oil was changed when they changed oil pump even that garage don't even bother to change filter . I am going to go to that garage and tell them if next time somebody come around with low oil pressure. It will be good idea to change only filter and switch first then open sump .might save money for car owner .your guys are great .thanks again for your time and help I really appreciate it
  41. Hi Guys thanks for your help . It was wrong oil pressure fitted on the car . I changed oil filter as you guys adivsed. Its fixed no more error . We're been looking at the wrong side .
  42. Impressive sky this evening
  43. https://www.racechip.co.uk/pedal-box/xlr.html This is the latest version.. it basically plugs into the throttle pedal and you can adjust the sensitivity of the pedal.. it helps the the lag
  44. Well its arrived at the dealer 🤗 Now to arrange delivery. Starting to get excited (finally)

Hi all. First post as a newbie. Back at 2018 i purchased a 2016 Superb mk3 DSG. Not a techy car guy in any shape or form but looking forward to improving my knowledge with the help of this forum. Nice to meet you. All the best Lehel
  46. @AGFalcoas i typed that my brain was not engaged. Too many oil threads today. @MrSquareWas that a Master Tech at a dealership you spoke to? Someone actually from the workshop! That was the issue with Main Dealership staff and Skoda Customer Services, years of denial. Saying it was overblown and do not listen to forums as people only go there with problems. Turned out they were wrong.
  47. Undo the bolts and swing it to one side, if you are concerned about clearance or strain on the cable disconnect the battery then remove the airbag, dont reconnect the battery until it is reconnected. Others will tell you to wait up to 24 hours after disconnection before touching it and ground yourself from static, not me nor anyone else who works with the things day in day out. The only way to deploy one is the direct application of a 12V high current power source and respecting the correct polarity.
  48. This guy might have something ? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/303710143089?hash=item46b6890271:g:2WYAAOSwIKlfXx31
