But on the bright side there are no drips on my drip tray this morning.
  2. Yet more back garden photography
  3. The BMW iX I saw one today, genuinely a jaw dropping car. Mine dropped anyway, I doubt I have ever seen anything so catastrophically ugly in real life. I've seen a few new M4s and M3s now and the shock is wearking off on them but this, this....

Haha. Are you suggesting we burn down the door panel factory? 🤭
  5. Ahh ok that looks nice. I will look in halfrauds tomorrow 😉
  6. I wouldn't go for one like that. I'd either get the top trim piece made by Skoda, if you can still get it. Otherwise, Halfords sell one which I have and it seems alright to me. It looks like this, but the other way up:
  7. No, as I said, it's more likely to be a problem with the engine thermostat. Flushes never really work on things that are blocked, because there's no flow to take the flushing agent there if it's blocked! Try the thermostat.
  8. In reply to the above comments i love my kodiaq.Ihad the choice of vw or volvo(which every tom **** and harry seems to be driving) or even the range rovers but taking everything into account went for my L&K AND THINK I MADE THE RIGHT CHOICE!
  9. I managed to resolve this issue by replacing steering column with another used unit, after driving for about a month everything is fine so far.
  10. dont go anywhere near the bloody things. nothing to do with being "a vauxhall driver", they are just appallingly bad and will break your brain and wallet...
  11. It’s a common con to catch out non mechanically minded owners. The discs can look bad so it is easy to convince owner to carry out unnecessary works. As long as the disc is still above the minimum thickness it is ok. Some serious braking quickly removes the rust stain on the area swept by the discs. A rusty edge may remain outside of the swept area. Of more concern is seized pads on rear of car on some models. Yetis were very prone to this as brakes on rear never used that hard.
  12. "Not nearly as much"? So it's observed on other vehicles? Do your roads have camber built into them? If you have a nice flat piece of road will it pull to one side? I can only think of Alignment Tyres Brake drag Road

Again? We might get caught this time 🙊
  14. Those are fuses. Ignore and attach jump lead to battery positive post/clamp behind them all. If the leisure battery has a largish capacity I can't see it being damaged. Let us know how you get on, please.
  15. Got a little build tag made, came out great
  16. Sold my car over a year last October due to a motor bike accident nearly three years ago that prevents me driving a manual. Started driving a year ago, the wife's Mokka X 1.4 turbo. Anyway have now ordered a new Volvo XC90 Ultimate plug in hybrid in Crystal White with charcoal interior, which can take my disabled kit. I would have gone for the hybrid Kodiaq that was coming at one point and then wasn't, was very disappointed with Skoda on that one but the bean counters got their way. So I ordered an XC60 and promptly changed that to the XC90 because of the boot size when seats 6&7 were folded down Will still pop in now and again if nothing else than to be amused by some of the posts and maybe add a comment or two. Anyway best of luck everybody and stay safe.
  17. Second biggest bill this car has given me!! The biggest being rust and paint.
  18. Gulp... Plus $1550 clutch and about $400 in other parts. So $8kish, or a little over 4,000 English pounds
  19. Hi kenOneil, funny you mention a Citroen Bx, my lade Dad had two new ones, first a burgundy red 1.9rd with the rocker switch for indicators and rolling drum speedo, then a grey 1.9 rd with normal switch gear, lovely cars.
  20. I've just updated my car. 🎖️
  21. Complete and utter BS.
  22. A little further than 1-2 miles, maybe 3-4 to be sure that the thermostat should have opened.
  23. Both radiator hoses get hot? You said hose, not hoses?
  24. ABS light probably from messing with its strip fuse, most other codes probably from disconnecting and reconnecting things. Clear all and see what, if anything returns. A/C codes probably recirculation flap problem (standard on most Fabias of this age, largely irrelevant unless stuck shut), and low refrigerant causing G65 one.
  25. You buy a Kodiaq because it’s practical and works for you not because it’s good to look at
  26. Just a thought but for your budget you would find a near top of range 2017 Yeti, I loved these so much I had 3 over 10 years. Had to go to Karoq as Yeti discontinued I 2017 but still think the Karoq lacks something compared to the very different Yeti. If you do though look for an SEL 2017 runout model rather than an L&K as it avoids having a sunroof which often developed leaks.
  27. Didn't know about this as a "factory option"....appears that it is a wiring kit & a relay & basically allows the existing beams in the front headlight to come on automatically when the ignition is switched on.. More info in a thread here & photos of the above mentioned Skoda kit. Automatic light on - Page 2 - Electrics - ŠKODA Forum - SKODAHOME.cz
  28. Yes. 2) is up to you and your wife.
  29. Hi Guys, I live in the Northwest - Wigan to be precise (no jokes on pies, I'm officially a Boltoner) I have been lerking for around a week, now's the time to post some pics and say hello my wife managed to get some photos of the car on a day out without kids and picnic blankets rocking the background. I am well and truly settled into the grown up life of cars, its been a rough patch but im back. i was always into French cars as a teenager, pug 106, 205 gti, saxo vtr previously owned cars (all of which i was a happy and active forum user) then i found Japanese cars i finished my car hobby with a starlet GT turbo heavily modified with good old Japanese imported parts, but choose a future with a good women and back burned the car hobby when i dropped a gearbox (13 years ago!!) since then all cheap run to the grounders: ford fiesta - 200 quid as we had a holiday booked when the gt turbo died, this thing lasted ages, didn't lock it, mole grips to fasten windows.haha Toyota Yaris - this thing didn't beat an eyelid, never went to garage other than service and MOT, my 2 kids grew up into toddlers with this car Vauxhall Zafaria VXR - long story short, i pined for some sort of car again, wife reluctantly let me get a new car, nowt wrong with the Yaris mind, i wanted a mk5 golf gti but we needed bigger for family days out, this lasted 1 week, turbo and head blew, empty of oil on purchase, i had my blinkers on!! i was done over by a trader in Oldham, following threats etc, I dropped it, i paid for that car for 2 years while getting the bus to work at a hospital. nearly cost my marriage. sold as scrap to a performance specialist and believe it soon became body for there company performance car,400hp i am led to believe as we kept in touch. lancer 1.6 - coilpacks went but had no "buffer" money left so scrapped then i found the VAG scene - Audi A4 b7, absolutely loved it, 3 years she lasted, exhaust mods, mapped, roof bars, lowered etc i have found my true love of german cars, plus i had to stick to VAG as i had coughed up for VCDS/Rosstech.haha So last week the Audis oil pump gave up, she was weathered anyway and her time was up, i was ready for another stand in cheap car, and maybe cycling to work again, the wife knew i had always wanted a vRS but had swallowed the idea, for my kids and wife come first, so here we are, an early birthday present(although i pay the loan.haha) no hassle from the wife, let her help me go look at it, picked it up together etc, think she likes it more than i do, perfect combination of performance, mahoooosive boot for kids days out, we enjoy Hiking in the Lakes and i am completely sure we could sleep in the back!!, comfort and style. i still cant stop looking out my window, i have effectively a dream car on my drive, and pray that all goes well and smooth, issue free driving all my cars get named: meet Vanesa the vRS
  30. If your discs do need replacing you could use Big Bill. But equally any Skoda trained motor technician could do the job!

Maybe all of us from Slovenia could actually get together and try to get answers from importer as a group....
  32. That software update fixed my ACC issues, I got it a coupe of weeks ago, it seems to be a vast improvement. Does not fix Synch not remembering on climate, but in comparison that's a minor issue compared to those it fixed.
  33. Rusty is home! Just in time for an 800km weekend of driving for #witwnz setting off tomorrow. And a couple of quick repairs. The invoice was 5 pages long !
  34. Very big thanks to all the contributors so far. Mega impressed. Thank you.
  35. There are those that never had the issue resolved to the point of being happy. See @Peachysheffpost. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/502538-good-bye-skoda-old-friend
  36. From my POV it just happens at start up and soon goes, for me it is a slight hesistancy not a full on kangroo but just not super smooth when first starting the car, and does not always happen. I took extended warranty because of the issue and costs to repair any issues so I think worth paying for warranty. So in test drive I would want to start the car cold and pay real attention to how it drives. I have had the car nearly 4 years and while it is a small niggle it has been a great car to own. My wife has just got a Kona EV and I think I will transition to an EV once the warranty finishes in a years time.
  37. The Mib collective as I call them probably know them. I think it's been fully understood. They just got Mib3 now which VAG doesn't understand 🤣. Probably should move their money from chasing down enthusiasts into sorting out their own software. Bentley's in that list as well. They have seven revealed under operations: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Volkswagen_Group Audi, Bentley, Lamborghini, Porsche, SEAT, and Škoda. Volkswagen AG. They lost one 🙄. VW owners don't realize it's all about branding.... recycling the same systems atleast.
  38. Mine is beyond repairable, so that was in my to-buy list. Last time when I checked online, the part was available for Favorit and Felicia too. (Not interchangeable). Now I've checked again and not available anymore in my area. Part number for Felicia is 6U1941331A. They sell it as a whole kit. Pre-filled. Like this: There is a whole topic here, six pages long, dedicated to headlight level adjusters: https://www.skoda-techweb.cz/forum/viewtopic.php?t=10933 They discuss repair and modification options here. Some say, new hydraulic headlight level adjusters would only last 1.5 or 2 years. Electric conversion is a longer lasting option. 39. Thought to update you all , Car is not fully up , some issues are still in progress, my understanding is below listed which 5 mechanic could not help , I had to dig in after reading from this website and identified possibly root cause ( 2 mechanic were confident there is no issue but did not have answer, wanted to open up fuel injectors and wanted to check or run more sophisticated tests on wiring or engine componenets) Issues & found root cause 1. Black smoke - ( manifold sensor I think in other cars it is MAF or MAP sensor was broken 2. White Smoke + Wet carbon( I had added CAT cleaner with less fuel which seems were concentrated and had done its job - added more gas and driven 70mph speed all became normal) 3. Car was loosing power - Changed the Fuel filter which had very bad gunk in it again fuel cleaner may have brought some tank debris in it. Fuel filter was not changed from last many years. 4. Very negative -Short term fuel trims (-100) Broken lambda sensor , even thought it was 4 months old it was faulty replaced my old lambada broken sensor and behaviour has been changed currently car is using default fuel control values , ordered new lambada sensor hope full will change and see if the is another issue in ecu which does not like lambada sensor values ( Lesson learnt never buy any ebay new or old lambada sensors , always buy from top quality , skoda lambada sensor ( bank1) for skoda is around £290 with 2 years warranty ) 5 Fan not running - Ongoing issue @Pete_Ex-Winois Kindly trying to help me , so far changed radiator switch on my own possibly never needed but just did it. 6 Broken AC - still not looked yet ( chnaged Coolant , engine oil , and coolant expansion tank it was leaking , mechanics were testing car possibly running ver high rev, no one noticed that fan is not running car may be over heating who knows ) I am not getting confident to drive the car yet because of no fan. Mean time 2 issue had happened while removing fuel filter 1 mechanic accidently broken the fuel filter holder which was rubber part and fixed component of tank so non replaceable ,please be careful please opening fuel filter from old cars , 2nd issue other mechanic broken fan control module connector again possible jammed , needed to spend good time to understand mechanism to get it sorted ,spoken to few local car electricians was not getting early appointment, I have to step in changed to new connector. Lesson learned old cars please always keep tab on many components/sensors which have X years of life they will never run for 2-3 decades or thousands of miles they will break at some point. If u love ur car and want to run for longer please keep identifying sensors and buy only original from Skoda. Happy driving. Cheers raky

Thank you!! Here’s a few of the better ones I have of it!
  41. The kangerooing was just a 1.5 TSI thing and if the car has had the software update and it worked there should be no issue so you need a long road test. As to FSH. A Full Service History needs the full servicing and maintenance to the Manufacturers Recommendations / Guidelines, even use the word Schedule. A history if Minor / interim & Major services and Oil & Filter / Inspection services does not mean that the brake fluid was changed at 3 years or spark plugs at 40,000 or any other stuff so be aware of checking what was done even with a FMDSH. Even Skoda Approved Used Cars that come with a Skoda Used Car Warranty might not have been serviced to the recommendations / guidelines. Maybe best give the 1.6TDI a miss unless you really want a diesel.

I don't think you were really 'hypermiling' @willwn , from what I read all you did was what I regard as sensible driving. I think the term hypermiling originates from the US where protagonists will do absolutely anything to get ultimate consumption, and consequently drive inconsiderately and unsafely resulting in a terrible reputation with other road users. There are a few factors that would have contributed to your excellent consumption: It was a longer journey and most it was conducted on a free-flowing road which is always a good contributor. You 'sacrificed' 5 mph off your permissible speed which probably meant the automatic systems you employed were able to work more smoothly without excessive surging or braking, while integrating with the traffic. It is five years since I drove on UK motorways but the usually high level of traffic means a lot of unintentional drafting which helps a lot Your driving decisions meant your 1.5tsi engine would have been able to make high use of its highly efficient two cylinder mode and that requires at least 1500 rpm and low torque demand. A comfortable ambient 18 deg C temperature meant the aircon would have done little or no work and the radio has no perceptible effect on consumption, unless you play heavy metal Considering your average consumption included the 10 miles out of London then you must have been getting over 70mpg on the motorway. It is fairly easy to get good consumption in those conditions, there is little difference in consumption ( 8 year old 1.4tsi) whether my wife or I drive on the open road, however I can get 30% better consumption than she does in urban driving. I can get 60mpg or better driving off-peak on our urban roads with 50% 'luck' at traffic lights and with due regard to other road users. In heavy peak periods I hope to better 40mpg, but in our hot summer weather with aircon at full blast then it will drop down to 35 mpg. There are a lot of positives to sensible driving, reduced costs, improved safety, nice green feeling, a small poke in Putin's eye and all for probably less than an extra 5 minutes on your journey.
  43. I’m layman’s terms …..no redlining it. But I didn’t need to say that really, did I!
  44. Don’t blow the bl00dy door ms off, as one Michael Cain once said 😛
  45. Yeah, I’m getting there thanks. One more hurdle to overcome then the rest is down to me No need to change the rockers if they’re not damaged, but will definitely need to lap in whichever valves you want to put in the new head, and I would 100% use engine assembly lube as new parts are going in. If money is no object, why not replace it all, including all the various bolts, gaskets, nuts etc. I would run the Engine for a week then change the oil, making sure it’s given a few heat cycles and not extract the urine with revs during the first few days. Not an overly difficult job if you have the tools for removing the valves etc, but good luck 👍
  46. Yeah, he rejected the car! 😅 Shame it had to come to that but it appears Skoda UK is not that great at customer service, or so it would appear from this forum. For that matter is it my imagination, or do the majority of cars with issues come from the UK?
  47. Was the holder broken, if not it can only be your fault for not putting it back in properly. Unless I'm missing something else?
  48. Check strip fuse no. 3 in the battery fusebox.
