  1. Although not on lease, my deal, like many whose current cars soared in value, was indeed super duper and I’d crossed my fingers for 8 months hoping nothing about the deal would change. I’m collecting my Moonwhite VRS on Tuesday and have this morning signed all the finance paperwork: same low % rate as back in October, same £2750 deposit contribution, same unbelievably good trade-in price, and not affected by the two price rises since then. Overall I’m getting this car for nearly £13k less than it would normally have been. It’s been an agonising wait, but worth it for sure. Probably a once in a lifetime opportunity due to the pandemic/chip crisis- let’s hope it is anyway.
  2. I don’t think anyone is judging at all. Just pointing out that for those of us waiting the problem with switching to another car is that right now if you actually want a kodiaq or something in that class there isn’t anything readily available. Not without spending a lot more or making compromises on what you get. That doesn’t mean you can’t go and get a Tucson or whatever. Great car. But if I only needed a mid size I’d go and get one or a sportage as they seem more available. The problem is it’s much harder in large suv land if that’s what you need.
  3. You’ve not read the post properly. It’s nothing about being good. You’ve bought something in the mid size suv bracket. Whereas the Kodiaq is a large suv with 7 seats. If I wanted a Karoq equivalent I’ve seen Sportage’s and Tucson’s available even Q3’s. But it’s the 7 seater size that is the problem. There isn’t anything equivalent and under £40K that can be got quickly.
  4. But you’ve spent all that time and not found a car in the same class (as in size) bracket as the Kodiaq. The problem is not if you are happy for a Karoq replacement there are a few cars around. If you want something equivalent to a Kodiaq there is absolutely nothing available right now or what is available is heavily compromised.
  5. Hi anewman, I don't think this is unreasonably priced, considering the extras you're getting. To compare - I have just bought a 2019 hatchback (facelift) - and I paid £5k more than thsi - so for a 2 years older car you are saving £5k - if you want to think of it that way. Best thing to do is test drive it and if your're happy with it and it fits your criteria, then go for it. I spent 8 months looking for a Superb III facelift in Quartz Grey, Hatchback - WITH a wiper - and only saw 2 (that were advertised) - so you are right these cars are going to become more rare to find these days . Hope this helps. Jay
  6. Konis fitted yesterday and I'm happy to report they make a big difference. I'm also running H&R lowering springs along with poly bushes in the rear. Instantly the car feels more planted and slightly harder giving a more sporty feel to the setup. I had many country roads where the car would loose it's composure at relatively slow speeds due to undulations in the road. I've tested most of these with the konis and the issues I had are now gone. Speed bumps were woeful before, my mud flaps used to touch on a daily basis at anything above crawling speed. Now I can go over the same bump at a higher speed without any issues. I always felt that the shocks were inadequate and made the car unsafe under certain circumstances but now I have far more confidence in the car especially on unknown roads. Highly recommended😀🏎

Thanks. Not good but at least I don't think that the might of Skoda is only picking on me.
  8. I really do get all this but how good is a deal on a car if you haven't got the car? I really hope you and Ant get your cars but I cant help but wonder; are they ever going to make it and sell it to you at a price thousands of £££ cheaper than they can sell at now? There must come a point when they just cancel the order. Otherwise why haven't they made them yet? I really don't think they are obliged to go through with an order and can just cancel if they so chose. I know other manufacturers are dropping orders because they cannot fulfil and won't supply when cost of components and manufacturing costs have gone up so much. If this is the case, the longer it goes on means any new car you order is only going to go up in price from now. It's a really bad situation for you both and I hope it is resolved soon.
  9. Part numbers only difference is between the normal seat/VRs & leather not handed so a passenger side will fit the drivers side https://skoda.7zap.com/en/cz/fabia/fab/2005-453/8/881-881004/#29
  10. I have a MK3 VRS and thinking of changing it for an iV. Just intrigued about something ahead of finding time to go to the dealership. If I charge at my parents, is there a display that says how many KWh on the last charge so I can figure out how much cash to give them? Or maybe an app? (My dad's as tight as a duck's arse and goes round turning everything off... so charging a car would probably give him a heart attack)

Hi all, first time skoda owner here... Picked up fabia vrs in yellow today and already has put a smile on my face! Last car was a BWA Audi A3 8P quattro but got a feeling this is going to be more fun!
  12. I would still slip the pipe off the tank and have an exploratory prod with some wire. The hole may be able to pass air, but may be restricted in size...... and it costs nothing to try.

Thank you, have just googled it and found a guide on these forums🤦

Yeah, common failure, snapped off where it attaches to the cam cover? Folks more familiar with the 1.2 tsi will be along very soon.
  15. A nice car, but even with a Skoda Approved Used Car with a FSH you look at that history. So that you know how much the next one might cost. Is it an Oil & Filter Service each year or each 2 years and a service carried out at 4 years old, so done. That means the Service History if done to the manufacturers recommendations has had 2 pollen filters, the brake fluid changed, but the Spark plugs maybe not because it has not done 40,000 miles. Or maybe at a 4 year service they were replaced.
  16. 1 point
All stamped up until 132000 miles
  17. Nice spec, nice price and FSH. Buy it, you won’t regret it.
  18. Like comparing apples and oranges. The Tuscon is a medium family hatchback on stilts. The Kodiaq is a full size 7 seat SUV. I’m glad you’re pleased but I’m surprised something so much smaller fitted your bill.
  19. I don't mind a bit of extra maintenence to be honest, I feel the benefits of a tighter feeling car are worth it. Honestly my montes fully polybushed as well as being on coilovers and dare I say in its case its more comfortable now than when I got it. I've no regrets putting them in it. This car I only intended on doing the console bush but the wishbone bushes were that bad (and I had the bushes on hand) that I chose to change them. In my hand the psb bushes still have enough "squish" in them that I think they won't make the suspension overly harsh. And those mounts I did are used mounts, I don't want to be spending money on new mounts when I have spares there that I can fill with tigerseal that I already have and put the money I've saved elsewhere. Again I've done it to the Monte and it's fine, bit firm at first but after a few days they softened up to feel just right and have been fine since.
  20. Hi All, I've just recently purchased a Superb III 2019 facelift 1.5 SEL. It's a beautiful car and I'm just trying out loads of features - so I may have other questions I can see how to reset the trips for "since start" and "Long Term" - but how do you reset "Since Refuelling" ? I have tried a long press of the wheel when I'm on the "Since Refuelling" but that does nothing - so I'm wondering if there is anything else I need to do Many Thanks.

Ahh same story over and over again You can only hope that when week 25 comes they finnish the car and not park it on some parking spot cause it will stay there for God knows how long... 🤦‍♂️
  22. Looking at the wiring diagrams it will need a new clockspring and there should be an electronics unit within the steering wheel to connect between the switches and the clockspring and probably a new steering wheel control unit

sorry to say there a few of us waiting longer than you,it is a never ending push back after push back.at least i may know what the reason is and it is down to the fire that disrupted the door making factory.i read on here production could be up and running by week 22.
  24. OK I get it, I thought you had done that to new bushes. I would never call a polybush a "proper" bush, in a stroke they remove all the advantages of rubber to metal bonded bushes and took vehicle technology back more than 100 years or whenever the first grease nipple or lubricator appeared on suspension pivot joints.
  25. The NOCO one you can leave it connected forever ( just don't try starting the engine with it connected ;)) as it enters a float/conditioning mode
  26. I mean I agree. The longer it goes on the less likely anyone is to get a car. But if you go and order something else you face another long wait. Or you face a huge price increase for something that doesn’t offer what the kodiaq does. Even at current list price it’s hard to find anything you will get quicker than a kodiaq that will come any quicker.
  27. All sorted now, I'm up and running with Skoda Connect. Skoda Customer Service's were helpful to be fair. Signed into the portal with a different e mail address and it all worked. Went through all the prompts on the vehicle and hey presto! 😄
  28. In a similar situation. The prices keep ramping up and the discounts have ramped down across nearly all 7-seaters, so cancelling wouldn't make financial sense. To give an idea of price evolution of the Kodiaq, these are rough figures I've had at various points. 2019/2020 via Carw*w £20.5k for SE 7 seater, £27k Sportline (20% discount) 2021 Broker £22.5k SE 7 seater, £29k Sportline (20% discount ?) 2022 Carw*w £30k SE Drive 7 seater, £35k Sportline ( 10% discount )
  29. Wow, I really expected there to be a screen. I wonder why that's not an obvious feature. So if you have a shared house, or you do t want your girlfriend to be saddled with your car "fuel" bills how do you figure it out. Wall box on a separate meter, or wall boxes that have their own meter built in?
  30. I did not lie either. I had already paid a deposit and it is the car I now own.
  31. I was given this "story" as well by Skoda uk. I tried it. It took a very long time to download, and it did NOT work. It is unbelievable that Skoda take out the SD card reader in the Superb and then have the cheek to make you pay an annual subscription to get map downloads via a USB stick, which for most owners also DO NOT work. Because the download software did not work on my car during the first year (free Skoda connect service) Skoda refunded my 2nd year subscription (£82). After my car spent 2 weeks at a Skoda dealer, with no explanation from the dealer, both my software and the maps had been updated. I now get map updates. Currently on map 22/4 (April 2022). Note there is no indication that a map update has happened. You have to look is settings and check the versions / date to find out.

Saw this last week and spoke with the dealer, they have said Skoda have only stopped taking orders for the 60 and they are building all excisting orders, so fingers crossed
  33. Be super-careful with your nut/bolt arrangement for the subframe end of the dogbone mount. The bit of bolt that comes through the captive/welded original nut comes very close to the steering rack tube. Steering racks are sometimes wrecked while doing gearbox/clutch work by people mixing up the bolts and putting a 65mm (gearbox to engine) one back in there instead of the 61mm long original. Those extra 4mm are enough to dent the rack tube when the bolt is tightened, destroying the rack.
  34. Hey R_Blue been looking into that ECU thing, found that polo ACE chips could run this engine but they are not available anymore... next route could be a megasquirtsince carbs could make the car fail inspection here in Portugal does anyone have any other stuff to add on the topic? i know that mods on this engine are not economically viable but still would like to get more info to make a good choice. Thanks for your help
  35. Well I finally got them all out with No 2 being the PIG. I had to break the bridge clamp holding 1 & 2 to release 1 and give more room to work. Tap a chisel down the sides between the forks and the injector body and the brittle forks break off. Still couldn't extract No2. so decided to sacrifice the cyl. head cover (£60) to get more extraction options. Didn't use the angle grinder to cut the cover as it would spew far too much plastic over the camshafts. I used a soldering iron with plastic cutting knife bit to create a hole about 50mm around the stuck injector, then lifted the cover over it. More huff & puff and before trying the stillsons, I made the slide hammer heavier and took more care to align the impact shock central to the injector. Also removed trhe HP union and used that to hold my slide hammer fixture solid to the injector body. Each slide hammer blow raised the injector about 5mm until it was clear. Checkout the Laser tools injector remover if you want to copy theirs. Visual condition: Injector 1 oily but clean, O ring still in the groove. Injector 2, Hardly any oiling up, good O ring. Injector 3 oiled up and O ring fragmented. Injector 4 a total mess. with lots of black gunk and hard bits of carbon/O ring outside the injector body, O ring seal gone and groove filled with gunk. The OE seals are 16.2mm ID x 1.5mm. I think they were Buna-N. I shall replace them with 16mm x 1.5mm Viton rings and replace each injector with injector grease. Parts lists shows O rings at the end of each nozzle and some sell kits with 2 O rings per injector. If there's an O ring on the nozzle, It must be way down at the bottom of the cyl. head and I haven't explored how to get to it yet. Off to the diesel injector man tomorrow to have them all tested. Everybody tells me these CR engine injectors aren't serviceable? Not sure what they mean because the black electrical connector body can be removed by the large 29mm nut - watch for the small spring, washer and bypass jet pintle! After that everything is mechanical. It looks as though the lower half of the injector body can be separated? I suspect they can be disassembled but you can't get Bosch small parts and more important, measure and qualify the flow calibration. Onwards & Upwards!
  36. I mean I sort of agree. But I think they are on a lease. And the problem is there is very little that can actually offer what a kodiaq does in the same price bracket. I’ve looked recently as mine is delayed but you can’t get a tarraco. The Tiguan allspace is with very limited availability and long wait times for an order. After that you are simply going to have to pay more for a Santa Fe or Sorrento. Or way more for one of the posh ones like a Q7. You can find the GLB but really that’s just a mid size suv with 7 seats in it. I would have this week moved on if there was anything that was as good as a kodiaq for similar money. But there isn’t. And those who got super duper lease deals will find it even harder. I do agree though that if I’ve waited a year I’m giving up and moving on. Especially if I have no build date.

6 will be "aircon switch in off position", 3 I am betting will be low pressure.
  38. I dunno, I was on about my comment about no-win, no fee lawyers. As bad a reputation as they have, they still provide a vital lifeline for people who have no access to decent representation. Yeah they might well take a big chunk of any payout. But proving your case in court and 80% of your payout is still better than no payout and no justice.
  39. Picking up a 2019 Scala from the local Skoda dealer this weekend, and I can't wait. Test drove it last weekend and loved it.
  40. The button on the pillar disappeared some time ago, this one doesn't have it and I don't recall the last one having it. Don't recall the alarm going off on a ferry either. Two presses on the key normally locks the car and unsets the deadlocks, it may also unset the alarm. If you have KESSY I am surprised that it will lock with a key in the car, maybe you are only locking the door you are physically locking with the key! One of the books that comes with the car is very useful in occasions like this, it is called the owners manual. Sadly it isn't quite heavy enough to have much effect when you beat those who haven't looked at it over the head with it. 😉
  41. You refuel. It’s automatic, based on the last refuel. Long Term and Since Start can be reset manually; Long Term is best if you want to track MPG over a time of your choosing.
  42. This is nothing to do with the DSG box, it’s the drive-by-wire throttle pedal. Get a pedal box and it disappears, even in bypass mode. Given the millions of vehicles with DSG boxes globally, the numbers of failures are minuscule, albeit it’s bloody annoying if it happens to you. Unless you’re going to buy a RX Lexus or above, you’re buying a badge engineered Toyota and yes, perhaps you will find them marginally quieter than the Superb diesel, but that won’t be a surprise given they do not make s diesel. You’ll be buying the 10 year warranty over that 10 year service period, via in an uplift in the service costs and it’ll be underwritten by an insurer, but it’ll be transparent to the owner. I had the misfortune to have a CT200h for a while. An underpowered, poorly built car and noisy with it.

Skoda Phoenix Orange in very bright sunlight. The colour ranges from almost yellow to a bronze in lowlight. I think its a "marmite" colour, but im done with "50 shades of grey" 😳 For the last 12 years I have had black, silver and grey, all neutrals.
  44. Money we’ll spent Mark. You’ll not regret it. I sold the diesel and brought at 272 and transferred the shocks over with some new H&R springs.. tis marvellous oh and had it mapped lol

'Tubs is much better going from Hawes north, in my opinion. Any sunny summers day you'll have to share it with a replica Tour de France unfortunately. As VRT says, the road from hawes down to ribblehead is also a great road. Bellerby Ranges out the top of There's loads of variations of route that's good depending on what type of road you want to go on where you're starting out and where you want to end up, but an easy starter if buttertubs is a must is: Ripon - Masham - Leyburn - Hawes following the A6108 to leyburn then onto the A684. In hawes turn right before the road splits into the one way through the town centre, up and over tubs to Thwaite. Turn left at the end and follow along until just after Keld where there should be a couple of hairpins up a steep climb. Follow that all the way along and you'll come out at Tan Hill, englands highest pub. From the pub you can drop down into Reeth and loop back to leyburn, go along to hawes and down ribblehead back to the A65/A59 or you can drop into Richmond to access the A1(M). If you want more detailed routing, I'm happy to throw you some maps depending on what you want. I'm reasonably local 😁

Just been on a visit to the Dales so did Buttertubs and Hawes/Ingleton routes. The photo shows the small parking area on the left (looking north) for the Buttertubs. There are two, one on each side of the road - amazing features, said to be 24m deep.
  49. Everything will work, except for CANCEL/ESC button and Phone/VIEW button. Tested in Fabia 3 FL and my Octavia 3. This convertor got back functions of mentioned two buttons. I already tried to contacted him to buy his solution/final product, because without possibility to use CANCEL/ESC button in cars without virtual cockpit, you are not able to switch between the screens and for those with virtual cockpit, you can't change the design view.
