  1. Quite a nice sunset from Beachy Head tonight: Gaz
  2. I believe the pass/fail point is 58% efficiency, but the tester might well have not nailed the brakes as hard as possible. As long as it goes green and they've still got braking power in reserve, a lot of testers won't see a lot of point in making the car jump about on the rollers. Brake efficiency is the braking effort divided by the vehicle weight, as a percentage.
  3. It’s been three weeks and I’m loving every moment
  4. Lots of geese at the top of Shinewater lake this afternoon: And I got out to one of my favourite places - looking across to Herstmonceux Observatory in the distance: This is from New Bridge Road, near Rickney. Lovely road to cycle across the Pevensey marshes, just need to be conscious as to how close the waterways are to the tarmac. I've come a cropper before moving off onto a verge to let a car past, only to find it wasn't a verge, just nicely trimmed bullrushes, in water 🙄 Gaz
  5. So to sum up then… the tyres have done 12k miles and are showing completely normal signs of wear. End of thread.
  6. I know someone who has payed £4500 for a 30k mile minter. Makes me realise I'm probably not getting my hands on a cheap rotter to reshell into my car anytime soon. My mk1 is less of a mess than that thing. And it rough as a week in jail.
  7. Seen better cars in the scrap yard.
  8. It surprises me that it's already at £2300 being in that condition..... mind you Fabia prices always make me gulp a little in surprise.
  9. Us technical types don't really care about aesthetics if a tool works well and VCDS works better than almost anything else for VAG vehicles. You creative types worry too much about fonts and layouts and frilly knickers and stuff...
  10. Can't stress this enough, Just finished the job on our mk2 there was lots of cleanup/sanding/filing required to get the fit needed without any gaps left by the cutouts on the new flanges. I opted to leave everything in place and just cut the old one out - if anyone else does this, make sure you have access to a reciprocating saw as there is not enough room for much else to complete the front side cut. If i did it again i'd preferably have something to make the cleanup simpler too, perhaps a wire brush attachment for drill/grinder. Anyway.. managed to get a good seal with the Norma clamps and sealant for good measure, no leaks yet! 🙏 Cheers'n
  11. It’s still listed on the standard equipment list for the Sportline on the Skoda website. the list has been updated for MY23 as it lists the 8inch screen in lieu of dials
  12. I was told by a dealer that according to their release from Skoda MY23 only has 3 changes - Digital dials No cooled glovebox No covers on SE roof rails (whatever that means)
  13. If it helps anyone I created a 3d-printed wireless charger holder for my 2021 TSI IV front tray and iPhone. I made two versions, one for an eono charger and one for an Apple MagSafe charger. Works a treat and a damned sight cheaper than the original option. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5180289
  14. Maybe time to cool things down as I'm sure all parties have the best of intentions? It might also be prudent to bear in mind that people do occasionally move away from the Skoda marque but their inherent knowledge doesn't automatically go too. Briskoda thrives due to its friendly environment and long may it continue in such vein. 🥳
  15. Yes I did. As expected your question is rhetorical - you don't give a toss how many people respond because your goal is always to justify your position. The survey result doesn't square with your opinion of the brand so you're doing what you always do when any member on here has a different opinion to yourself - you attempt to rubbish them, as you've done with me in the past. Aren't you going to organise a forum poll? Here's a better question. How many cars have Skoda sold and how many of those owners have posted on Briskoda? And even if you were to account for that minuscule amount, Briskoda is primarily used by those who have a problem and are looking a solution. ( When's the last time anyone came on here and said I've just had my car serviced and it was great ?). So to justify your conclusion, you're asking turkeys to vote for christmas? It's all very Donald Trumpian. Secondly, if every single person on Briskoda were to reply it still wouldn't make any impact on the results because that'd be an insignificant number too. You'd have everyone believe the cars are faulty, dealers are rubbish, servicing is rubbish, blah blah blah, It's just not true for the vast majority of owners as the surveys indicate. Owners are happy with their cars. Briskoda is no different from any other owners forum - go to any forum and the vast majority of posting are problems. One last thing about being a Skoda owner which is even more confusing to me at least. If you have a Skoda then why are you listing a Corsa, a Suzuki, a Shogun etc... Who on a Skoda forum gives a toss about those? If you're on a Skoda forum, wouldn't it be an idea to list your Skoda? And presumably you own just the one obsolete model, so why are you replying to every post on every model on every forum within Briskoda? Now even a simple indi survey seems to upset you. Why? What exactly is your goal here?

HI New to the forum but thought I would just share my information with you regarding my current order with Skoda. I ordered an Octavia VRS IV estate on the 17th July 2021 and yesterday after contacting the dealer he confirmed the car was made on 1st July 2022 and was shipped to the port for export to the UK on the 2nd. He did say there could be a slight delay depending if my car was the first or last for the boat but he did say he is optimistic that I will be driving my car late July to early August. It's been a long wait as the rest of you can verify on here but at least it's nearly over. Hope this helps some of you.
  17. 06 plate 130k Scotland repainted my sills 3 yrs ago looked great for about a year then the rust came through worse than ever. I think I need to rustproof them from the inside before bothering with the paintwork. also have bubbling on the rear quarter panels where they meet the plastic and on the front wings where they meet the sills two spots on the wheel arches are now rusting good style. Am in 2 minds as to whether to let it go for another 5 years since we probably wont be allowed to drive diesels by then or take the time and effort to do something about it.

Correct, but for the average person after swapping the battery over they don't need to enter a code to get the radio working. Thanks, AG Falco
  19. @Golf-Fiend Brand new gas struts will always be "stronger" than 18 year old ones the same new spec.
  20. 1 point
@AGFalco said No. Dead wrong; the radio is coded, but the code is normally held in the body convenience module and input automatically when the ignition is turned on following a battery disconnection.

Via the OBDII port. Obdeleven can do it. A good tyre/battery shop should have a device. It might only be an EFB ( 027 ) in the Citigo with stop/start not an AGM. Should have either EFB or AGM marked on the top of the battery. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Non stop / start one is normally a 002L but a 012 will fit. This is more powerful at 50-54Ah compared to 40-45Ah for the 002L. You will find the bigger one is only a couple of £'s more so worth fitting. You just need to move the battery clamp bolt one hole further out. No. Thanks, AG Falco
  22. 0402N is 402 Newton metres isn't it. I would go with that if the 460N is feeling inappropriate. 18 years? In estates I'm lucky to get 6 or 7 years before needing replacement!!!
  23. Effectively, you have posted a picture of the rear tyres, although their tread depth is, understandably, less.
  24. Sipes (not a typo) do not always extend the full depth of the tread.

Normal ones, unless you have Stop/Start (not stated), when you need AGM and to code the new battery into the car. Yes.
  26. I changed from the standard 18 inch alloys to 17 inch in my Kamiq SEL and there was a marked improvement in ride quality and noise reduction. I am currently in the process of having 16 inch alloys fitted, Dezent TR in black gloss, with Michelin Cross Climate 2 tyres. I'll report back when they are on the car.
  27. That's because it's a recall on the new facelift version - and I'm guessing that yours is probably an 'old' one if you've had it almost 12 months already?

We didn't have any issues, the front bump stops came with the Eibach kit and the shorter rear bump stops are the factory Pr 1JC lowering kit parts, 112mm instead of 127mm, 5Q0 511 357 J.
  29. Personally I'd just check the clamps (especially if s/s) after a couple of heat cycles. Doesn't apply here as the OD would be within the range of the clamps but personally I have found if the OD is at an extreme of the clip's range they're not a reliable as an exhaust clamp.
  30. No it will use the inbuilt sim or the WiFi connection whichever is active. You are right that the inbuilt signal would also be better but the speed of it is slow. My phone on 5G completed the user process in a minute once I’d got the signal.
  31. Thx -I found the one you are referring to - but it disables only the eco tips. - I have done this, but the one I was thinking, which disables the warnings to get the foot off the accelerator is not here. I did some digging and found it in, assist systems/all assistance systems/eco assist. Thanks for you feedback

@Madvlad65 It hardly matters if done years ago if your car is not using oil. It was done when people complained enough about high oil use and should show on the Service & Warranty History as Skoda / VW Paid for it. If you know what the difference of OEM and then the Update Breather & even the 2nd Update as in Australia got you can look. Really it makes no difference as it never worked anyway and then the next cunning stunt was the Oil Spray Jet Upgrade which again never worked for many and they got a replacement engine. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/318553-fabia-vrs-mk2-breather-fix-yes-or-no-for-high-oil-consumption

I'll kick off the positive vibes..... I've had mine over 4 and a half years and apart from wear and tear parts I've had to replace: Water pump Radiator Pcv(n75 valve) Literally less than £200 in parts in 4 years it owes me, Cant grumble at all. Now i'll not be naïve and pretend they don't have issues or have a reputation of having issues because they do deserve that however if you know what to look for and find a good one.......Learn how they work and look after it they are more than reliable. 80k(130km) miles isn't a lot as I've seen proof of these doing double that mileage but I'd be looking at replacing the chain on TSI at 80k if it hasn't been done already. Personally I service mine yearly no matter the mileage, changed the DSG oil at 50k for piece of mind albeit there's the argument it never needs done but each to their own. Running a stage 2 engine map for almost 3 years now the car has been flawless even on the standard clutch, @thomasaspin Will vouch for the modifying side of things as he's put more power through is than mine.
  34. I didn't consider the point you've noted. That perhaps they didn't slam the brakes and only applied until efficiency was met. That's plausible and worth considering.
  35. Electric drivers seat is still standard on Sportline. £480 option to add electric passenger seat.
  36. Why have you made the H into an 8?

I know the feeling, my current 68 plate Passat Tdi(company car) is at 178k and the VRS needs to turn up soon ! Luckily I’m not paying out of my own pocket to keep it on the road. Im can often do 5k+ a month some months. (Did 650 mile yesterday and today will be 350 ish)
  38. I'll post one tonight, I did remove it and try to repair. It's in my nature as a electro/mechanical service engineer I'll buy a terminal in case, at £2 it doesn't matter if its not needed.
  39. Photo of the negative clamp? Possibly just needs the screw loosening off lots, then the thing being pushed further down the taper of the battery post?

It’s been interesting reading on here for a few weeks now. The first signs of a few cars beginning to arrive perhaps. It still feels like early 2021 orders are held up though. I ordered a petrol hatchback Octavia in November and am fully expecting the 12 month wait. My Golf TSI is about to hit 169k- (a perfect time to upgrade if the Octavia had arrived when it was supposed to.) As it stands I need to get a new water pump fitted to keep it on the road and hope it passes it’s MOT in Sept. It doesn’t help that I’m doing about 2k miles a month. Wish me luck 🤞🏻

Didn't order a hybrid, but it still feels horrible. 😞

At least any Face Lifts / MY23 are not new models so not new type approvals so from today in the EU do not require the mandatory speed limiters.
  43. Might also be worth acquiring another fob* to try. I helped a fella recently who'd been told by VW themselves that his RF fob was working correctly, only to find that when I sent him a spare I had, the problem he was having went away. *just the electronics half, not the immo chip + physical key bit. Oh, and also make sure the battery contacts are clean, to ensure it's operating at full power.

Hi all, I ordered an Octavia Estate SEL in July 2021, I've just had a call from the lease company to say it's been built and they've sent me the reg. They said the car may be in the UK by the end of the month but they don't know. Does anybody know how long this part of the process may take? I've been pretty relaxed about the whole thing until I got the call last week and now I can't wait Cheers
  45. Tranquil evening..........
  46. A few from Coningsby earlier today
  47. Passing atlas a400
  48. A few taken in the late evening sunshine. Certainly a good night for reflections and the sunset didn't disappoint either!
  49. Today's commute home from work.
  50. Many people wrongly think the DFM wire is a control from ECU that tells the alternator what to do. It's not though, it's just a feedback signal telling the ECU how hard it's having to work.
