  1. Plenty of SAAB spares still available, my son works in a SAAB specialist garage keeping plenty of SAAB’s on the road. He currently has a 9-5 2.3 Turbo Edition estate.

Got rid of the blue badges today and fitted new style front. Still waiting on boot one to arrive
  3. Result! Deal agreed and I'll be travelling to sunny Surrey to collect the car this Saturday. Daughter & son-in-law very happy (looks most unlikely their nicked car will reappear) and many thanks to Tony for going the extra mile to help with getting this sorted.
  4. A Car into a Skoda Main Dealer for servicing should be getting and Service Campaign work , TPI's or Update Enhancements carried out as part of that service. That is why you might use a Main Dealer and pay them the money they charge including the £215 or so to service a DSG.

After previously owning 670 and 695 I had to have another one. This one is 571. One owner and just 77k on the clock with full history and rare on an 08 plate. It has a Jabbasport rear anti roll bar fitted which is a nice addition. Needs some work to make mint but nothing too serious. First jobs were to clean and get Aircon serviced. I also fitted a new genuine headlamp as one was very cloudy. New style badges ordered as well. The ones on it now are hideous !
  6. My family car is a 2019 Octavia VRS Estate, which I've owned for around a year, and which does the job very well. The only problem is that my son insists on growing, and now that he's nearly 2 years old he can kick the back of the front seat from his child seat. Can anyone recommend a decent seatback protector, and possibly something to stop him kicking the door card? I tried a 'normal' protector which has a strap that would go around the headrest posts, but as my Octavia has a 'built in' headrest it didn't work very well. I've considered duct tape or an amputation at a push, but I'm willing to accept other suggestions.
  7. Necessity is the mother of all invention. In what respect do you feel the vehicle is a mess or un reliable? The import laws in my country mean, we can only import RHD cars, and after that need to pay 150% import tax.
  8. Clean again. Was absolutely minging since it's been doing a heck of a lot of mileage in all weathers.
  9. This isn't far from the truth. Phone call resulted in them saying they can book the car in for diagnostics on 8th September, a month away. Coincidentally, this takes me out of my 14-day cooling off period where I am unable to return the car for a refund. Its bizarre that on the day of randomly turning up and buying it they could do a full service and 114 safety check on the vehicle in 1 hour but 4 days later it will take 1 month for the vehicle to look at. I've booked it in on the 8th for arguments sake and followed up with an e-mail essentially explaining that if its not seen this week then I shall be returning the car for a full refund and purchasing a similar car elsewhere. We'll see how it goes.
  10. The problem is you are involved in a guessing game. Your car is a Superb MK3 2.0TDI estate 4x4 with increased ride height which may have suspension components such as springs and shock absorbers that are no longer working like new. Are all the springs and shock absorbers the original and correct Skoda parts? Do you know what a new Superb MK3 2.0TDI estate 4x4 with standard ride height drives like? Maybe test drive a new car to find out? You may like it. After all, Skoda will have done a lot of R&D (Research and Development, testing, etc.) This reminds me of another Superb MK3 2.0TDI estate owner. He had a broken rear spring but felt sure the replacement rear springs needed to be much stiffer than standard. The garage would only fit the correct springs, so he had those fitted. Once the new springs were fitted, the owner found them absolutely fine. The moral of the story is that when the suspension isn't working well, it's easy to get into the overcompensate mode, when all that is needed is for the suspension to return to its new condition. Some owners do modify their suspension, but that is often done for cosmetic reasons and/or because the owner wants to improve the handling and is willing to compromise the ride. Maybe try the springs that Kilen/Lesjofors recommends and if you don't mind paying for expensive shock absorbers, try OEM Skoda shock absorbers that match the OEM springs or Bilstein B6 shock absorbers. The problem with aftermarket shock absorbers is that the manufacturers have a one size fits all approach. For example, I've seen just one Monroe rear shock absorber being sold to replace all standard ride height Superb MK3 and VW Passat B8 rear shock absorbers. Both Skoda and VW list many different standard ride height rear shock absorbers to carefully match the rear springs that are being used. Monroe 376246SP rear shock absorbers are being sold to replace all of these OEM part numbers, ie. a one-size fits all approach OEM reference number(s) comparable with the original spare part number OEN 5Q0513029KG — AUDI OEN 5Q0513029KR — AUDI OEN 5Q0513029LT — AUDI OEN 5Q0513029MF — AUDI OEN 5QF513049BL — AUDI OEN 5QF513049BM — AUDI OEN 5QF513049CD — AUDI OEN 5QF513049CE — AUDI OEN 5QF513049CM — AUDI OEN 5Q0513029LF — SEAT OEN 5Q0513029MA — SEAT OEN 5Q0513029MG — SEAT OEN 5QN513049AT — SEAT OEN 5QN513049BA — SEAT OEN 5QN513049BB — SEAT OEN 5QN513049BC — SEAT OEN 5QN513049BH — SEAT OEN 5QN513049BJ — SEAT OEN 3Q0513049FN — SKODA OEN 3Q0513049FP — SKODA OEN 3Q0513049FQ — SKODA OEN 3Q0513049FR — SKODA OEN 3Q0513049FS — SKODA OEN 3Q0513049FT — SKODA OEN 3Q0513049GA — SKODA OEN 3Q0513049GB — SKODA OEN 3Q0513049GS — SKODA OEN 3Q0513049HE — SKODA OEN 5Q0513029NF — SKODA OEN 5Q0513029NP — SKODA OEN 5QF513049AH — SKODA OEN 5QF513049AJ — SKODA OEN 5QF513049AS — SKODA OEN 5QF513049AT — SKODA OEN 5QF513049CB — SKODA OEN 5QF513049CC — SKODA OEN 3Q0513049EQ — VW OEN 3Q0513049FA — VW OEN 3Q0513049FB — VW OEN 3Q0513049FC — VW OEN 3Q0513049FD — VW OEN 3Q0513049FE — VW OEN 3Q0513049FF — VW OEN 3Q0513049FG — VW OEN 3Q0513049FH — VW OEN 3Q0513049GE — VW OEN 3Q0513049GF — VW OEN 3Q0513049GG — VW OEN 3Q0513049GH — VW OEN 3Q0513049GJ — VW OEN 3Q0513049GK — VW OEN 3Q0513049GL — VW OEN 3Q0513049GQ — VW OEN 3Q0513049GR — VW OEN 3Q0513049GS — VW OEN 3Q0513049GT — VW OEN 3Q0513049HA — VW OEN 3Q0513049HB — VW OEN 3Q0513049HC — VW OEN 3Q0513049HD — VW OEN 3Q0513049HE — VW OEN 3Q0513049HK — VW OEN 3Q0513049HL — VW OEN 5Q0513029NJ — VW OEN 5Q0513029NK — VW OEN 5Q0513029NL — VW OEN 5Q0513029NM — VW OEN 5Q0513029NT — VW OEN 5Q0513029PA — VW OEN 5Q0513029PB — VW OEN 5QF513049AA — VW OEN 5QF513049AB — VW OEN 5QF513049AK — VW OEN 5QF513049AL — VW OEN 5QF513049AM — VW OEN 5QF513049AN — VW OEN 5QF513049AP — VW OEN 5QF513049AQ — VW OEN 5QF513049BN — VW OEN 5QF513049BP — VW OEN 5QF513049BQ — VW OEN 5QF513049BR — VW OEN 5QF513049BS — VW OEN 5QF513049BT — VW OEN 5QF513049Q — VW OEN 5QF513049S — VW OEN 5QF513049T — VW OEN 5QN513049AH — VW OEN 5QN513049AM — VW OEN 5QN513049AN — VW OEN 5QN513049AP — VW OEN 5QN513049AQ — VW OEN 5QN513049AR — VW OEN 5QN513049AS — VW OEN 5QN513049AT — VW OEN 5QN513049BA — VW OEN 5QN513049BB — VW OEN 5QN513049BC — VW OEN 5QN513049BF — VW OEN 5QN513049BG — VW OEN 5QN513049BH — VW OEN 5QN513049BJ — VW OEN 5QN513049BL — VW https://www.autodoc.co.uk/monroe/13672272
  11. There has been some valuable feedback in here, thank you. I've previously run cars on shoestring budgets and paid the price. So I'm keen to make sure I'm staying on top of maintaining my Superb as it's our family car, but also keen not to be getting ripped off. I'll cancel the 'extended scope' service and take it elsewhere for an interim service and brake fluid check. I assume £600 for the cambelt and waterpump is the going rate?
  12. All the "normal" answers have been taken, so not even going to try. But what a about a video player on the front seat to keep him occupied.
  13. Also @Boabster I'd agree; also, I think that the issue is with the friend, not with WES.
  14. How about hog tying him and sticking him in the boot?
  15. Its hard to say what would of been done in a major service as its more of a marketing gimmic now. You only get a oil service and an inspection service. Everything else has recommended intervals varying from 10k/12 months to 80k/8 years. What was actually done during this major service and just make sure they arent redoing it basically.
  16. 10mm thick Polycarbonate box with a breathing hole in the top, anchored to the isofix points should do the job

I can't say "happy anniversary", 'cause I know the feeling - I'll also celebrate 1 year in 2 weeks from now. On the other hand, I did receive the VIN, and was told we're on the final stretch... whatever that means. BTW - it's been more than 3 weeks since I got the VIN, but I still can't register it in SkodaConnect App.
  18. The 5Q0411105GM front spring is listed for the Superb MK3 2.0TDI 190PS FWD The 5Q0411105GN front spring is listed for the Superb MK3 2.0TDI 190PS 4x4 From the specification below, 5Q0411105GM is about 5% softer than the 5Q0411105GN and is 3mm shorter in uncompressed length. However, if you fitted it to your 4x4 it would lower the unladen front ride height by about 6mm because the softer spring compresses more under the weight of the vehicle. Notice in the photos below that both springs have about the same number of coil turns, ie. about 4.6 coil turns. This is important to check when comparing the stiffness of two different springs because more coil turns will make the spring softer with all other things being equal. 19. Hi guys, Final update. Collected the replacement car two weeks ago and it works perfectly. I had the original one which they had "fixed". IT certainly worked much, much better than it did but still not on a par with any of my old vehicles, the courtesy car or the replacement they found. They filled the tank on the new car and a restaurant voucher for £50. In hindsight, I am really happy with the dealership (Pullman Cramlington) although I was pretty stressed and frustrated at the time. Thanks for all the advice on here - it definitely helped keep me right - and sorry for the delay on the final update. Now, how do I complain about the crap tyres that have been fitted.... 🙂 kidding!
  20. Just spend the money and get the DSG service first and see that all is well before doing anything more. Then when the box works as it should fill your boots.
  21. I have the same 230 and drive train in my 2018 Golf GTI. Mine won't try and pull away in 6th at 1000rpm (and nor did my previous 220 vRS), so maybe there is something up with your DSG's basic settings. I'd certainly look to a reset and updates, before considering a remap. Gaz
  22. The Independants should have the required software of ODIS and flash files needed, if not then it's a walk away job.
  23. You may need to push a little to get them to check, be very specific in booking in saying your gearchanges seem "off" or some such. Ask if they can check for any new DSG software, but of course tell them you wish to be informed before they update, price first and permission!
  24. Put it in manual and you can select pretty much whatever gear/rpm ratio that you want, within reason. Gaz
  25. A pedal box may also help. I definitely did for my tdi. Made it more eager to change down and improved it overall.
  26. Before remapping, unless this is your ultimate goal, you could see about getting the latest gearbox SW installed. Here is one example of how in a single year roughly, the same gearbox had 5x revisions for complaints. https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/505928-no-software-update/?do=findComment&comment=5680620 Not every gearbox is like that, but you may find loading new SW might help. Cost up visiting dealer/independant/remapper and decide. Not saying new gearbox SW will cure your car, as we never get a changelog, and what you get can be vague from reading TPI's.
  27. If the Master Tech supports a Warranty Claim you stand pretty well in having the Warranty Claim approved. Your Manufacturers Warranty T& C's covers the Servicing and what is needed, so be genned up on that and have your proof of servicing to the Manufacturers Guidelines and now they say Specification. Spark Plugs are not Specified at 40,000 miles, they are recommended but many Skoda Approved used cars will not have had the Spark Plugs changed at 40,000 miles. **If your car has not been at a Main Dealers for servicing are you sure there were no Recall Actions / Service Campaigns which your car missed out on as they are required to be carried out to keep a Warranty Valid. or so they say.** SKODA_Warranty_Terms_November_2021.pdf
  28. I don't have latest diagrams for Superb so it may have changed, but the microswitch for the luggage compartment lighting is within the 'rear lid lock unit' F256 on the ones I do have. Such microswitches can fail either mechanically or electrically, although your car seems very young to have suffered such a 'wear and tear' problem.
  29. It's not the 'issues' and my car has and still has many it's the complete and utter contempt for owners and their problems shown by VAG and Skoda. My car is 16 months old and STILL has problems they don't appear willing or able to fix. I think it'll be Japanese or Korean next for me.
  30. Wow, on the Kingfisher! 😎 I heard a grasshopper chirping, real close while we were at Bedgebury Pinetum today. I mean really close, like it was right next to me, and it was just as clear when I was 20' further on: He was on my shoulder, but hopped on to my elbow as I went to take a photo. Family in background (mine, not his). Gaz

And for the seat protectors under the toddler seats https://a.aliexpress.com/_vUV1Cj And a tablet, and I still hear them.. 😅
  33. Fancy, its got ventilated seats and a heated steering wheel too. Looks like a full package.
  34. Update Monday evening: Car has been found, less than a mile away. It has clearly been robbed for a joyride then driven around fields and generally wrecked. Shame but at least the uncertainty is over. Thanks to all for the support; it helps. @john999boycan you unpin this now, please? Ta.
  35. Not surprised in the least by the last 2 post's at all. Stick to your guns, and hopefully the match you lit under their a7se will do the trick.
  36. Great. Thanks for the help! Before I load test, I will leave the car locked en shutdown for an hour. To be sure the BCM gives power. Than connect a bulb to the pump end. Just to see it it lights up. Still not sure why the BCM did not throw a fault code. If it cuts the power, it must be able to throw a fault code.
  37. Okay. Checked the BCM advanced measuring data: When I press of push the stalk the washer system changes to active for just 1 second. Even tough I push of pull the stalk for longer. I was able to use the xenon's washers via vcds. They worked! There was also an option to activate the front and rear washer via vcds. But they did not work. No fault codes present. It looks to me the BCM deactivates the washer after 1 second because of a too high current.

  41. The part on ebay is about £20 so ill try that first
  42. Just spend the money and get a tvs engineering stage 2+ dsg map. It has a lot more features than the generic maps including life extender. True manual mode, 1st gear reactivation and increased torque limits.. it is so much different than standard. Had mine done on the 272 before engine map and it was a different car. Then had their engine software later. HUGE difference

  44. He seems to have a 280 which is a ea888 TSI engine, no EGR valve. Exhaust scavenging is achieved through valve overlap. If there are no external leaks and that has been 100% verified then the only points of failure are - DSG Cooler, Heater matrix in the cabin, Oil cooler, Headgasket.
  45. I've been using Eibach springs for a Passat B8 in my Superb 220.

Is the car new to you or have you had BT work with a normal phone connection before?
