Hi, Just got message that my Octavia Hatch 2.0 150 DSG SEL has gone into build and dealer says he's expecting it end of next month - if so will be just over 11 months since order.
  2. Guys, quick resurrection of this to update. Stinger lasted 2 1/2 years. A BMW 530e replaced it in September 2021. Brilliant, albeit quite different, car. Reasons here p27: Kia Stinger GTS 2019 - Page 27 - Readers' Cars - PistonHeads UK But, a change in circumstances - dog - means the BMW has to go already! It is for sale as of yesterday. So, a fast dog-friendly dog wagon? I have missed Skoda and have decided to come back. I have paid a deposit on a 2018 (68) Superb 272 L&K Hatch. It's good to be back and I look forward to linking up with some of you guys on the Superb 3 forum.
  3. You'd have a job coding in something that is purely hydraulic 😛
  4. The fatness of their wallets is directly proportional to the number of oil changes they get you to pay for.
  5. These engines were know to have oil consumption problems. I don’t know the details personally. Hopefully some with more knowledge will help.
  6. He had a car, same in at his work today. Needless to say he wants these mats for Christmas . Drivers side and passenger side
  7. Thats a really good shout.. thanks Penpusher. Its funny how many of the small things you take for granted.
  8. I've got the KPH display on the speedo, but by changing the settings in MaxiDot, the cruise control can be set in KPH. If you don't change it, you'll have to convert KPH to MPH each time to correctly set your speed. Some are easy to convert, such as 50 KPH is 30 MPH, but others such as 40 or 70 KPH are not equal to a round figure in MPH.
  9. My wife is French so she only thinks in KM.. whereas i'm still stuck in miles. I'll be able to do the conversion easily enough too, but the kids just want to know how long it will take
  10. I believe this can be adjusted in the infotainment system under Vehicle/Car - Settings - Units or something similar to that.
  11. You guys continue to astound with your knowledge and willingness to share. Its amazing.. after work i'll go and have a check to see what the MaxiDot can do with regards displaying the KPH. I think I am lucky that the dial already shows both MPH and KPH..
  12. Indeed, @varooom is absolutely right - I don't have time enough to read forum, usually I react only if I am properly tagged as he did. According to parts catalogue, the correct part numbers of multifunction steering buttons are 3V0919719A. the ones that you bought, 5E0919719A, were used till 25.05.2016 and you car was manufactured on 11.10.2016. But I'm not really sure if this is all, you might also need to replace BCM/Gateway. See Multifunction Retrofit / Upgrade for Skoda Fabia 3 and Fabia 3 retrofit multifunction steering wheel
  13. @mczakk Does your car have a VAQ diff and if so is that overdue a service and did the dealership employees fail to mention that? @30,000 miles / 3 years or sooner. There are various threads on the VAQ, as there are on DQ381 & DQ380 DSG's. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/494489-front-differential-service-vrs-245/page/2 http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/482132-vrs-245-diff-servicing Service Desk staff might not pass up the opportunity to upsell an AC Service, or a fuel additive treatment, they might well miss telling owners about the VAQ or Haldex or tell those with a DQ200 DSG it is due an oil change, they might miss stuff like recommendations or guidelines on brake fluid. But then that is just because they get on the job training by people with no technical knowledge of mechanical engineering.
  14. I have asked if a mod could maybe change the title as the OP can not. That will depend on if they are OK with that.
  15. It's always nice seeing a car with at least 4 exhaust pipes. 👍
  16. It should be possible through the maxidot display. If you car does not have a maxidot display (I think all Superbs have a maxidot), then it should be possible to change the volume via the entertainment centre. This is for the Octavia but should be the same for superb
  17. ? What would you change it for? Better the devil you know or own already. Unless you are getting offered very good money for it and a real bargain on something else you really like and has a proven reliability record or even maybe a 7 year warranty.
  18. Either that or wait for the heatwave... Edit, sorry I saw you're in Scotland! 😆
  19. Finally found time to remove the unit and send it to Ant - very pleased with the quick turnaround and now have a working screen!

What is the date stamped on the tyre?
  21. To verify that it is correct, as you did mention engine was replaced.
  22. Yep, it’s pretty well specced. Got to admit to looking forward to it! All for this little one!

Missing engine cover is part of a recall. You will go crazy when the app accespts your VIN. My VIN was accepted about a month ago. Deliver this week.
  24. In slippery winter conditions while driving a lightweight 180PS FWD car you won't always be able to plant your right foot whatever tyres you fit. What spare tyre size will fit in the spare wheel well of a Fabia MK2? I'm guessing 185/55R15 fitted to a 6Jx15 ET43 will fit, but anything wider? Actual width of tyre when inflated (measured from sidewall to sidewall) 185/55R15 fitted to 6J rim 194mm 195/55R15 fitted to 5.5J rim about 195mm As you can see in the above chart, a 195/55R15 tyre fitted to a 5.5J rim is about the same width as a 185/55R15 tyre fitted to a 6J rim. This means that if a 185/55R15 tyre fitted to a 6J rim fits in the spare wheel well, then a 195/55R15 tyre fitted to a 5.5J rim will also fit in the spare wheel well. 25. I think he's referencing the same tyre size on a different sized rim , not comparing 195/55 15 inch wheels and tyres to standard Mk2 vrs wheels.
  26. Are Toyota not going to have the same battery shortage issues as all the other manufacturers, so issues with long delivery times if they can deliver?

  28. Fabia MKII Hope this helps you all out 14.2.3 Permissible wheel/tyre combinations - RS up to MY 2010 14.3.3 Permissible wheel/tyre combinations - RS as of MY 2011
  29. Damn, another good post as you made me think again. The difference will be slight really, a few metres here and there. But you did make me think by writing 4,500 miles, as I was to joke "surely you mean 7,240.5 km" 😆 So @Cmonty it maybe useful for you to change display from MPH to KMH, unless you are fine converting "on the fly" so to speak, not that I think you would be doing 80mph in an 80kmh zone.
  30. Good shout ☝️ There is a little beam difference from LHD to RHD, but minimal deflection, the most you will notice in real driving is something will activate a tiny bit earlier/later (if you can notice it) This should help the OP no end your real-life account, thanks 🤝

What do you want to achieve? I have plenty of admaps...
  32. Nvm I think I got it
  33. Not a problem, just trying to help people to the best of my abilities. Swap headlights to 3V1 xxx xxx Front fog lights (bulb change/physical new part needed/adjustment of angles as needed) Code rear fog lamp(s) (I am not sure of what French law/adjustment is needed) or change if needed the physical units Radar (potentially a coding change and/or calibration for RHD/LHD angles) See Edit: Check with the help of forum members if the list needs adding or any other coding changes they can think of Edit: Regards to radar, my friend said you should be fine to go to France, just to pay attention if the car does silly buggers with ACC to get a calibration done then, he goes over to Europe also and no issues.
  34. I deleted all data from AA to see what happens but it still doesn't work.
  35. Thanks everyone for helping me! Really appreciated. Its only another couple of hundred quid added to the immigration money cannon
  36. That sounds bang on Ken - our 2001 ATD Fabia 1.9TCi Estate did similar and would happily chug along or manoeuvre (eg parking) at just above idle revs. You can stall them but it takes some doing...
  37. My wife's 2015 Fabia is the most modern car we've had, her previous car was new but that was in 2008, my car (or some bit of it) was an old design even when it was new in 1973. I've always though German engineering quality was very often overrated but have been surprised by the noises from the Fabia particularly from the engine bay, they vary and change too. Again I think that might often be the overcomplicated, over-intrusive, intertwined computer programs going about their business. As we have to turn sharp off the hardstanding on to the road I let the car pull itself along then but I don't drive the Fabia too often and also I'm used to driving on the throttle rather than over braking so wouldn't be going at 1,000 revs. I too hear the gearbox and linkage(?) from gear changes (5-speed manual, with standard clutch and flywheel). I think a lot of the computer programming over the years would also be about systems developments for future needs and integration of systems - and of course perhaps hiding any cheats. 😆
  38. Varoom - Thanks for the contribution. We are still going ahead with the diagnostics and will update with any relevant codes once completed. The situation was primarily posted on the off chance that someone else had the same combined glow plug warning and 'juddering engine' experience
  39. More than a year later on and 20k very tough miles towing overloaded removal trailers and everything is still fine and dandy with the clutch, no air drawn into the system.
  40. There are no issues I'm aware of on a 2019 1.5tsi especially in manual form. As long as it's serviced and maintained properly it should be as reliable as any other car. I'm in exactly the opposite position to you - I normally keep cars 2-3yr max but this time around I'm very likely to keep the car long term simply because I can't see anything that would qualify for which I'd consider a 'good deal'.
  41. Yes I only get the message while driving. Seems to be at random, but think it may be when it gets jolted. Doesn't happen very often and there are no ill effects in my case after years of seeing it. The car is long out of warranty and this is easy to live with, so I have never bothered getting it fixed.
  42. You have 3 years warranty and easy enough to take out longer, you can extend the warranty 2 more years before the car is first registered. The failure rate with DQ200's is not high in the past few years.
  43. Another small update - I need to find out how to get hosted photos on here! Ever since I bought the car a small thing that annoyed me was the rubber on the boot release had torn from use. I looked up how to change it and did some Googling, finding it on a Skoda supplier's website for an eye watering £131.54!! Needless to say I wasn't going to pay that, eBay to the rescue. £20 later and I had another boot release handle. 10 minutes of faff (getting the large black plastic panel back on was 8 minutes of the faff) and it worked perfectly 🤟 After finding out the rear toe adjustment was seized I figured I would sort it out. £26 for the genuine bolts and £65 for the Powerflex bushes I hope to have it sorted soon. Booked in with the alignment shop for a 2 weeks time. I have enquired on some of the Facebook groups about swapping seats from leather to the later black and red diamond patterned fabric seats. I've always thought fabric was comfier but leather more practical. Full leather seems rare so hopefully someone will be interested in a swap. DSG service next month, although after that my spending on the car will have to be limited due to expecting our first baby in October!
  44. At 40k check the Haldex has new fluid, and the filter cleaned (sometimes they don’t touch clogged up filters). Ensure both done if buying Check the tyres, if previous owner has swapped them (and 4x4 versions require them swapped around as per handbook), could all be original summer tyres (check date codes, a 4 digit number, 2 digits week 1-52, second 2 year). If it has mixed tyre types the Haldex will have had harder time. The Karoq really needs all season (or winter) tyres in cold weather, if summers used during cold there is likely to be lots of surface cracking Wheels : UK spec comes with large wheels, great in a showroom, useless for good ride on poor tarmac, and prone to damage on potholes. The tyres for these are often weird sizes which means limited choice and expensive tyres. Consider changing to smaller wheels (link has full range) https://www.skoda.co.uk/_doc/639a0118-4da5-446b-a786-86e1f789b57b Then check everything works, put it in neutral with someone standing behind watching the exhaust, and blip throttle. If engine accelerates slowly or smoke comes out of exhaust then you might have clogged exhaust filters (virtually impossible to fully clean without removing from car, as a DFP regen won’t fully clear out existing ash)

Got rid of the blue badges today and fitted new style front. Still waiting on boot one to arrive
  46. Fair enough, different people with different vehicles in different conditions and circumstances have different needs and wants.
  47. Bought a 2018 Karoq Edition 2 litre diesel 4X4 with 45k on the clock from a Skoda Dealership in June 2021. Have now driven about 10k. My observations are Don't buy one with 19' alloys the ride is poor and the price to replace them is crazy. Find ride hard and a bit clunky on poor surfaces especially in the countryside Needed new front wheel bearing (Under extended warranty) Needed new rear pads Front discs and pads replaced Columbus radio has dropped all pre set radio stations 4 times I find diesel engine / exhaust a bit noisy in the front of the car, all been checked and fine but on the positive side Its economical on a run of mixed roads I have been just short of 60mpg (Much better than the Freelander it replaced) Seats I find supportive and easy to get a comfortable driving position
  48. To be 100% sure pls share your VIN on PM so I can check in partslink
  49. I have replaced my battery twice now. Despite using genuine Panasonic batteries it always says change key battery on dash most times? I suspect different makes have very slight normal fully charged voltage. Despite continuing warning the key still works for months like this.
