Got mine on the 8/8, ordered end of June 2021. No price change but ordered from Motorfinity
  2. BMW E30... I think?

So, as promised, I contacted my dealer about the prices - some are really changing the prices but they aren’t, it stays the same as on the contract we signed upon ordering. He also said that there is a lot of cars arriving at the moment, so hopefully I get to see mine soon as well. Not getting my hopes up though, I will even restrain myself from checking the app.
  4. My Stop-Start ceased to function about 6-8 weeks ago. Having trawled through and discounted the many possible causes, the 'Power Consumption' message on the IT system seems to be the likely reason. Even with everything electrical ( fan, A/C, Lights etc ) switched off the message remains and the Stop-Start still doesn't work. Is this message a convoluted way of telling me the battery is on the way out? It's 6 years old and has covered 130,000 miles. Thanks
  5. Finally bit the bullet! 21 plate SE L First Edition in Black with sunroof (which we only discovered when we went to test drive it!). Only 6000 on the clock. Hardware version H56 and SW version 1896, so hopefully no gremlins. Lovely car, very similar to the MkIII, main difference I noticed was the slightly lighter steering. Got to be honest, I don't feel like I got a great deal but nice to finally have placed an order. Pick it up on Monday.

Since leaving work I've been trying, steadily, to improve my appalling physical fitness. Amongst other things I've been gradually increasing how far I cycle, and reducing how often I use any power assistance. Today I went past the 30 mile in one go milestone, and am feeling pretty good about it 😀: Started at 85% battery, finished at 51% battery. Only power assist I used in the first 15 miles was for about 50' getting quickly across a busy road, and probably the same trying to get up a public footpath on the Downs which was made up of deep and sodden leaf mould (failed, and it was too steep to ride back down). All in all a lovely ride. Gaz
  7. I've never been convinced by people who sell me the 'electric dream' based on cost. If fuel keeps coming down and electricity costs hit projected numbers, it's definitely cheaper to run a diesel. Personally, I think my colleagues who go on about the cost savings haven't really understood why EVs are coming. I'm trying to persuade my father to fill his coal bunker for this winter, as he can still purchase coal for a decent price. Could save him a lot of money, but he won't get his finger out
  8. ^^^ Quite possibly you have it 'nail on the head'. Battery on the way out.
  9. We did about a thousand miles in Scotland in June. We charged almost exclusively on ChargePlace Scotland (CPS) chargers and they all worked seamlessly. We had registered an account with them last year, but never made it up to Scotland. We got a CPS RFID card (costs £10) and used that without exception to start/stop charges and never had a problem. The free charging units are normally CPS units and we did get free charges at Pitlochry, Fort Augustus and Callander. The other charges were very reasonable at 18-36p / kWh. The only non-CPS charging we did in Scotland was a Podpoint rapid at Tain Tesco which was a very reasonable 28p/kWh. (this could have been free too, but two old boys who obviously knew each other well were hogging the free 22kW chargers )

so i still don't have VIN number but car has confirmed production and would be or will be finish 36 week
  11. I have also moved to a 2021 model Superb from a 2016 and struggled with listening to my own music for a bit. I tried using a USB C stick and transferred the files from my old SD but I don't like the way the new 2021 media interface behaves. Playlists are particularly awkward. The best solution I have found is to upload all my music to iBroadcast (https://www.ibroadcast.com/home/). You can then install the iBroadcast app on your phone and play your music through Android Auto or just Bluetooth. I have found the latest version of wireless Android Auto to be pretty reliable. The basic version of iBroadcast is free and it allows you to store and synchronize your music on your phone. This allows you to play your music when your phone data is offline. iBroadcast organises your music library and you can also create playlists. Whenever I get new music, instead of having to update my SD card, I upload it to the iBroadcast cloud using their windows app (MediaSync Lite) and it automatically updates my library on the cloud and my phone. I believe you can also upload music to Spotify, but I hate Spotify.
  12. I cycled down a gem of a lane I'd not previously been down just outside of Polegate. As I got to the end of the lane I rounded a corner to find a lovely little church I'd no idea was there: The steepening slope on the right is the South Downs and where I ran out of cyclable surface for my bike. Beautiful area - I'll go back to take some photos of the cracking views over the Downs and Folkington Estate. Gaz

So I finally collected my car on Saturday the 20th August so 13 months after placing the order on 17th July 2021. A great day only marred by the fact that I ordered Quartz Grey and they delivered a Graphite Grey car, dealer didn't even mention this until I raised the issue. I have accepted the car of course and am very happy with it so far, My daily commute of 28 miles has been possible on all electric so far. Fingers crossed for all of you out there waiting for yours.
  14. 80% price increase, that's going to be around 50p/kWh for electricity. If you are not on EV tariff, you'd be paying around 16.6p/miles assuming 3mi/kWh. As many here have already observed, this pricing no longer makes EV cheaper to drive. Of course, if you are on EV tariff (Octopus Go 7.5p for 4 hours is still open to sign up, tariff fixed for 1 year). It is 2.5p/miles at same 3mi/kWh, still waaaaay cheaper to drive EV. This also makes it cheaper to heat bedrooms and hot water tank with electricity than gas overnight. This is what I'll be doing using smart plugs and room thermostats. So if you are driving EV, be sure to switch while deals are out there ASAP!
  15. Gumboot Rally prep part 1: 2 weeks to go!
  16. Have just run a voltage check on cranking the engine. 1st result was 10.6v, followed by 2 at 9.6v. Guess a new battery is in order.
  17. There's a Quattro going under the hammer at Silverstone tomorrow (Sat 27th): Gaz
  18. Unfortunately, Forman doesn't have mountings for ARBs. You'd need to fit front axle subframe (which has different mounting points) and arms and rear axle from Felicia.
  19. They don't have to take my word for it. It is stated on the report he made as part of the invoice. His licence number is on the document. But thats not really the point. It doesn't take 10 minutes to put the car on a hoist, take the belly pan off and shine a light on the pump. I find it problematic that the Skoda dealer will take a booking next week for a service but will not diagnose a warranty issue for 7 weeks let alone fix it.

So i sold my Octavia last week after nearly 4 years of ownership as i got offered more than i paid for it in 2018! I've use this site to gain knowledge and answer questions i had but i've not really posted as i found all my answers by simply using the search feature. I have a few bits to sell, 18" space saver wheel and insert and a boot mat. Does anyone know how many posts i'll have to do before i can post in the for sale section? Thanks Paul
  21. I will be paying 40p per kWh for the 20 hours of non off peak but I expect to only use a third of my lecky downloaded in the more expensive period. I will load up my 1.8 kWh battery in my larger solar generator as well some of the 400 Wh, 150 Wh and 100 Wh ones I have and they will power most of the houses devices during the day ie fridge-freezer, laptop, router, phone, probably TV and Sky box, various Alexa devices, stand lights and anything else I can think of, even small electrical radiators. No word from Octopus yet on the Flexible gads price which is currently 7.5p kWh but I expect that to go to about 14 p kWh ie bit less than the Big 6 if they charge 15p kWh for gas.
  22. Nahhh, driving my Zoe, charging it overnight on my Octopus 7p per kWh tariff, which works out about 2p per mile lecky cost, super cheapy. Must try and use my £10 of Electric Juice, now called Electric Universe, that £10 get you a lot of Rapid charging but good for emergency and at last test my Rapid Charge CCS DC charging pins. Not needed it in the first 8k of driving as only needed my home and a bit of destination charge (always free) through I have broken two of those crappy Rolec post charging posts which seem to be very fragile.

It is a Mk2 and the version is a Fabia 3. That was a spec / trim level.

How good is the car in all other respects? Did the engine use any oil? Would you keep it if sinking money into it? That is the only justification for spending substantial money otherwise, as you say, spending money just to immediately offload will probably net you negative returns. You could ask the garage to price you up a repair, if they are capable, based on presumed damage to overhead gear. I.e. replace all timing chain and tensioner gubbins, remove head, preferably source a complete VW exchange head, replace, retime, etc (preferred rather than rebuilding head at a machine shop). My guesstimate is it would exceed £3k. A new engine from Skoda is £7k plus plus. I suppose a wrecked car engine is possible solution but a complete unknown as to condition and risks...A reconditioned engine? I don't know but it must be a quality experienced and guaranteed rebuilder. What usually happens is the ratchet on the tensioner fails and holds no tension when the engine stops. Next time you start....... Crunch. There are other modes of failure of course. Hopefully, assuming the engine hasn't had severe collision it will just be the oveherhead gear. A post in circulation at the same time as yours with the 1.8 version.
  25. Feal for you. I don't think you're over reacting at all - you're more patient than I'd have been. Whenever we collect our new cars, we assume it's factory fresh but none of us know what's actually happened in between the car leaving the factory and collection time. My guess would be that no matter who the manufacturer is, faults will have been found and rectified without us being any of the wiser. I've picked up many new cars over the years, had a few instances where things need attended to, but nothing on that scale. Worst experience was Mercedes. They have or at least had something called a 'Handing over the keys ceremony' which I didn't want but was informed it had to be done - company policy. So I arrived to find the car covered with a fancy expensive looking silk sheet - not sure what the process is supposed to be, the sales folk pull back the cover and your supposed to gasp in delight? She pulled the cover off to reveal the gleaming new car. Straight away my eyes fell on two stone chips on the bonnet and one of the front fog lights had misted up. The car was immediately booked in next week to be repaired + fit new fog light, but I had them right down on the receipt that the car was only being accepted on the basis they would have one attempt to correct those problems otherwise the car would be rejected. It may be something you wish to do when / if you finally collect yours. Good luck.
  26. Thanks. Nice to see it directly from the source. But I can't grasp how those prices can translate to the headline 80% increase. Electricity unit price is 85%, gas is 100% increase, on top of that, standing charge has also increased.
  27. You won't void the warranty by having a tow bar fitted by a third-party, but it will mean that you may have to prove any future issue isn't as a result of having the tow bar fitted (or, at least, that's how it works in the UK - I assume consumer law is vaguely similar in Ireland). But... the first thing to do is check and see if your car has a towing weight listed on the plate on the driver's door pillar - if not, then nowhere should fit a tow bar (even for bikes) as the car can't legally tow anything. There seems to be a whole lot of confusion around this, and it appears Skoda have not been listing towing weights unless the factory fit tow bar (or, at least, the tow bar prep) is fitted at the time of purchase.
  28. I think the answer you're looking for may be found here: Just search through previous posts, they added some more info some time ago...
  29. Thanks all. I see that 1.0 MPI is has basically the same performance as 1.2 htp. Thanks a lot!
  30. May i ask what turbo brand did you use? By the way take a look around at the scrap yards to find a third brake light unit in a low price.
  31. I change air filter annually and pollen filter biannually.
  32. Many thanks. Will give this a go.
  33. There is a deterrent sold in the shops and on line. Those bright plastic things for throwing a ball for a dog. As you go to throw that ball you can hardly be expected to spot a cyclist coming up quick behind you. If you happen to have forgotten to take a dog with you that is just how things are.
  34. Another week, another small issue. The weld on the rear of the clutch pedal gave way a couple of weeks ago. I was just leaving Lidl’s car park when there was a cracking noise, followed by the clutch pedal hitting the floor. It would pull up again but it wasn’t attached to anything. I managed to push it into a parking bay to have a look. I found these pieces in the footwell : Broken pieces of plastic and metal is never a good sign & I knew that the car needed to be towed so phoned the RAC for help. They weren’t any help at all and I won’t bore you with the details so I sorted it myself and had the car taken to my trusted garage. The recovery company were great and I owe them a big thank you for doing what the RAC said wasn't possible due to the heat on the day......🤬 I did a bit of research online and ordered the pedal from Cardiff Audi. In the end I ordered an Audi TT pedal for £79.94, part number 1J2 721 319 C and the clips needed 1H0 721 357 and 1J2 721 332 A. They're the same as the Octavia and Mk4 Golf parts but the price at the time was better than the listings for the Skoda. Cardiff Audi delivered the parts to the garage and they were swapped over for a bargain price of £60. The master cylinder rod was slightly bent but luckily the clutch switch wasn't broken so that saved me another cost. It seems that this is a common thing on the Golf, Leon, Audi A3 - https://www.uk-mkivs.net/threads/clutch-pedal-broken.364457/ - and is a design fault that can happen at any time. I’m hoping that mine will be good for another 19 years. 🤞
  35. I did a customers 87 Audi Coupe GT with £2k worth of Dynamatt and liner, the car was 20-mm lower after...😁
  36. No I have the ventilation feature, but does not have the auxiliary heater.
  37. Please note that HHC is I believe dependant on the version of ABS pump/controller that you have fitted so no guarantee your car supports it. HHC is the best mod I ever had done on my own car (facelift version of yours) as totally transforms it when in traffic around town as totally negates the need to ever use handbrake apart from parking, just makes the driving experience so much more relaxing and makes the DSG box the prefect solution for me. No idea why wasn't standard from the factory? Can't help you with a local lead but another alternative to Briskoda map of friendly VCDS owners is to do an Ebay search for VCDS and order the results in distance from your location. Plenty of people on there offering fault scans and adaptations for sensible money, maybe someone local to you?. Another possibility is for you to purchase a cheaper tool than VCDS and do it yourself. Carista should be able to enable HHC (if car supports it) and the adapter is available for £17.49 at the moment from Amazon (https://www.amazon.co.uk/Carista-Bluetooth-Adapter-Scanner-Technology/dp/B00YVHGTBM). You get a free month's trial of pro features that are needed to make adaptations, just remember to cancel at end of the month to avoid your card being charged for a year's subscription. Even then without the pro features it's still a useful tool to diagnose faults and if you do see faults beyond basic OBD functionality (i.e. the Skoda specific modules) on a scan you can temporarily unlock pro features for another month for a tenner to get full details of the fault code and reset it. Obviously not as powerful as VCDS (or OBDeleven) but a fraction of their cost.
  38. I lost the rear window on my Mk2 vRS a number of years ago (at a time where there wasn't a single one in the country with the antenna etched - so I had to drive with makeshift plastics in place for nearly two weeks). I ended up with glass inside the tailgate which the eventual glass installer informed me "wouldn't all be removed". The sound of rattling and sliding glass was an annoyance to say the least. My car went into Skoda for some reason soon after and as I was quite friendly with the team there, they said they would take a look - they added on an hours labour, but they effectively stripped everything back for me and rescued all but a couple of little chips (that you could just about hear when you closed the boot) - money well spent as far as I was concerned.
  39. Hi thanks for the advice I appreciate it im going to try and fit it tomorrow
  40. ^^^ Those have a turbo unlike a MPI which has not.
  41. Reverse the process to reinstall, though I'd personally give it a couple of weeks for this heat to go down before doing so.

There is a very key part that needs to go along with a laser wheel alignment tool, and that is a tech that has a clue what hes doing and does the job properly. Without it the machine is next to useless and youll have the same issue again. The last place I would be taking my car is to one of these fast fit chains, the techs there are often just fitters and dont know what they are doing except "green means good on the screen" - im not saying all fast fit tech's but personally I would be looking at an independent with a 4 wheel alignment machine. Please also reply to the first comment on this post by myself to give us a bit more understanding on the current situation.
  43. Not used that outlet but have used these guys https://www.lllparts.co.uk/product/1U9945097C/seat-additional-brake-light-1u9945097c
  44. If you follow the first link that is the parts listing and item 12B is the estate light unit and gives part number 1U9945097C as the one for the VRs
  45. so i just stayed asleep a bit too long today, probably trying to make up monday nights awfulness. got out a bit late again.. and the flood barriers have been deployed so 2 of my river crossing points are closed. and all the river walkways are under 2-4ft of water.. so i had to be creative this morning for a 12k blast.. couple of double backs, and i did stop to take a couple of pics of the water levels.. the pillars to the left are where i usually swing in to river walk.. the black rectangle in the water is a normal, roughly 1m tall rubbish bin. water is quite high..as in about 5ft higher than nominal in channel level..
  46. I have a set of diamond car mats in mine. Brilliant for keeping the interior clean and very well covered. 25% off today with discount code BLACK at checkout.
