I have never understood the fascination with having to have the latest registration. When I am ever looking at used cars, it is always the 'date registered' I look at rather than the actual registration itself. Having waited so long, I would just want the car asap.
  2. painted roof, mirror covers, rear skirt to black and number plate holders to white on my brand new L&K 280ps step by step to design which were presented at the Geneva Motor Show, but weren't adopted on production line 😞 previous also were Style at beginning

Evening all, Im back in a VRS after buying my third Mk3 Octavia VRS after a bit of time away from one. I originally wanted a 245 DSG in meteor grey but came across this immaculate 2019 moon white one with only 7,000 miles on the clock, and it was too good to miss out on! All I’ve done so far is add some stripes to the grill, but I’ll probably do a couple more subtle little changes…..and maybe something to get the exhaust sounding a bit better.
  5. Points to under testing of the electric version when it was launched which was always going to be an issue with the e-corsa being an adaption of the ICE corsa and just putting in say 20% stiffer coils is not enough. When I was Dept Transport I recall reading one report which said that the damage to both car and road rose by the power of 4 ie not squared or cubed by the fourth power. I oft wonder, and I know there were probably several reasons why you chose the e-corsa over say the Zoe that I got, but I have followed your frustration with both charging and dealership and wonder how different it might have been if you got the Zoe, which has probably the leader in the B segment electric vehicles back when you got your EV ? Many do not like the Zoe styling, even I think it is a bit Mehh, but that range and just plain sorted out over a decade of development of the Renault Zoe through the 22 kwh and 30 kwh to the 52 kwh Zoe has led to quite a sorted car, EURONCAP issue a part of course, IMO.
  6. Arnold Clark Service Centre. 7.30am all open in reception. Nice as car booked in for 8am. Car on charger and they started it for me. So far so good. But, we will see how this goes. 'Good morning, your car is in for a Recall and a inspection service.'. No it is in for an inspection of the suspension. Well seemingly yesterday they find out a little software update is required. So I ask what that is. Just a quick update. What for? Just a Body Control module. But last time the car shut down for 4 days. Nothing like that this time. The last Software updates made the car worse. Well the gent on the desk could not give a flying duck. So I will see how it goes. I might need to speak to the Manager before I leave. The one that apologised last time over the staff incompetence. The one that said they were using the poor performance of the staff as a training example. They better get it right today. I asked why the Booking Centre does not know they have Corsa Electric cars. The guy says they have no idea what places have. I asked why Arnold Clark have an Innovation Centre that millions has been spent on promoting EV,s staffed by Geniuses on Products yet the rest of the company are clueless.
  7. Colourful Sky this evening and Clumber Park looking resplendent in the afternoon sun..............
  8. That will be the 380 or 381. Definitely not the 200. The dq200 dry clutch box is almost exclusively fitted to engines smaller than 2.0.
  9. Moon is currently 96% full (Waxing Gibbous) and a lovely pink sky this evening 👍 I'm still yet to catch sight of the green comet, although it seems one lucky individual in Nottinghamshire managed it 🔭☄️ https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/av/uk-england-nottinghamshire-64499694
  10. @lol-lolI had a brand new Zoe for a run around the block today. Hate the seats with no bolsters, the no arm rest & just the general seating position. Even the sill height, and sill to floor. But i know what i like and like what i know. I hate a Renault Captures, in out and seats. A Dacia Sandero Stepway was more suited to how i used to like seats. The Jogger seat and seating position was dead right. Anyway no more EV's for me as charging out and about gets stupid price wise in Scotland, i think i had the best of 'Much Cheapness; charging there will ever be in Scotland. The Highlands Region Council are being ridiculous. http://bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-highlands-islands-64424890 http://thescottishsun.co.uk/motors/10161024/electric-car-chargers-scotland-free Nothing wrong with fair prices, but 30 or 40 minutes max charge time on Rapids is hopeless. 60 minutes is fair enough.
  11. I hope you have fond memories and maybe pictures. They need to remember you or the car owners bought and paid for the cover and it is not theirs when they bin it, or recycle. They should issue an IOY. Replacement part or cash money... Not their manufacturing price, what the replacement pre recall cost if bought at a main dealers. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/510390-engine-cover-recall-tsi
  12. Funny you should mention this. Had the same recall notice. Mine said that the dealer should remove and fit a replacement but that one might not be in stock. I took the cover off to be on the safe side (even though I agree I couldn’t see how it could work ‘that’ loose) and left it in the boot for them (thinking Skoda would probably want to gather the recalled parts). No replacement was put on and no follow up from them about it either…so far they’ve done sweet FA about it - so if they say you should have it done, ask the stupid question (you have the updated part to replace?) and check afterwards that they’ve bothered. And yep the engine looks crap without it.

Update. I had a call from ŠKODA on Monday 27th the chap basically advised me to take it into a dealer and thought it might be cured by a software update. Contacted the local ŠKODA dealer took the car down was looked at by some guy who was apparently their go to guy for the system he agreed that yes indeed there was a problem that might be fixed by a software update that should also cure the sos error problem. So dropped it into them this morning for the update so we shall see. toot, it is the dealer at Myrekirk road but I didn’t buy the car from them got it from Arnold Clark Vauxhall in Stirling.
  14. Hello Berisford, provided you keep a regular check on it - and it is secure, I can't see why you shouldn't retain the cover - just remove it when you take it in for the service. I agree, engine compartment looks 'more finished' with cover in place. My understanding was that the cover was intended to be replaced with an upgraded one when it became available.
  15. It's a British thing, or at least a vanity idea by UK HQ which is presumably staffed by vane people who don't drive on normal potholed UK roads, but choose the spec in a brightly lit display area with billiard table smooth floors. Buy the same car in say Germany or Ireland and will come with smaller wheels and cost option to increase size.

Skoda /VW will want paid for it. Want the first registration done ASAP. There are Average Fleet emissions to consider and other stuff. Talk to the Dealer Principal.
  17. Yes, you're right 🙄 To balance things out here's a couple of pics of my old MKI Fabia's I recently found 😆
  18. So I see you guys have been having fun with my thread 🙂 - good interesting stuff I decided my battery was effectively dead (in that it would not drive start/stop and gave up the ghost after parking for short period swith the lights on) biught a new one , adapted it and start/stop works fine again. Thanks to all that contributed.
  19. 1, Lockdown killed off plenty of batteries due to inactive vehicles. After approx 6 weeks layup with the battery connected, they will be in a discharged state with sulphates growing and hardening = unrecoverable capacity losses result ultimately requiring an early life change of battery if not fully charged ASAP! 2, Low battery warnings frequently coincide with other abnormal electrical warnings. 3, The principle signature of a discharged damaged battery is failing stop start esp if all other consumers are off. Do you know if the new battery was stored fully charged before you bought it or its age? Did you use the vehicle frequently after fitting the battery before having to externally charge? If no to either of these, this is the most likely root cause. 4, What sort of usage pattern do you have with the vehicle? Approx annual Kms/miles and downtime between journeys as an average? This is another key indicator of response and performance from the battery you are reporting and also a common root cause of early life failures. 5, Current draw is more important than voltage loss when vehicle is fully asleep - should be around 0.014Amps if i remember right. Any more and the battery discharges sooner requiring more use or charge cycles to compensate or even more unlikely, indicates a consumer is failing to switch off correctly (Dashcams are prime favourite here) 6, A fully discharged battery needs 24hrs to recharge and saturate the plates. a few hours run time won't have much lasting affect and leave the battery back in the original discharged state very quickly if the usage pattern stays the same. Frequent full recharging from fully discharged by just running the vehicle on periodic long journeys can also increase wear rates on the battery and lead to moisture loss and overheating. Heat from frequent and brutal alternator based recharging from fully discharged state and/or intense summer temps also damages the battery from moisture loss and by turning the plates to mush losing capacity, which then usually shows in winter when cold. Overcharging a battery results in surplus energy being turned to heat..., which boosts waterloss..., which pushes things closer towards self detonation if there is a significant presence of internal damage already.......

The cloth is made from heat resistant fabric, and is definitely needed for an AGM swap. If you do fit the Exide bigger battery, you will need to get a new heat cover, it needs adapting to car (cost if you don't have tools) and might not be the best fit for your driving pattern (I cannot say it will be an issue to swap, but you may not "exercise" the battery enough to keep it in good health) Given the extra steps involved, you might be better with a nice Varta EFB 027 size, that will drop in without the extra headache/potential issues.
  24. I would whip out and examine the o2 sensor, mine was utterly blocked and playing hell with the fuelling, mpg is now mid 40's up from low mid 30's.
  25. Update: everything was good when I went to the skip. No errors thanks for the help

  27. Hi Guys hope you had a good week. Been busy so just getting round to work on this "Hunt for the Blue Wire" couple of things: FIrst, I have power steering. It steers. Dunno what I was thinking or whatnot. Yesterday I over-clutched ina fiddly car park and the engine turned off, was on a hill going into a space. Decided to let it roll - THEN I found out what it's like with no power steering. Second, with some reflection, I realised this ALL began AFTER I had the good ship Halford's out to replace my battery (due to the infuriating alarm going off constantly, that I removed myself). It is clearly electrical, as you've said. I feel like the guy at the garage is well intended (he pushed through an MOT while everything was workin), but he kept going on about some expensive electrical switch *mentioned) that was tied somehow to the car itself by programming and was mad expensive to replace. (!?) Now, Blue wire: Before I go spending and digging through manuals, can you please give me a hint what/where I'm looking for? Below are photos of the blue wires I can find thus far... Behind the battery? Feeeding into the wee connector on the front of the battery? same one better view Curiously hanging free coming from under the battery seems to swing up behind the alternator? Alternator connector had a blue one... Thanks as always @Breezy_Pete @varooom @KenONeill @nta16! Martin
  28. @Nirrain I'm all for the slower 2-amp charging and have personally found the higher 10 or 12 amp chargers more likely to kill a battery that is in a very low state. Yeah time is a key ingredient but I do wonder about these less expensive "smart" and multi-stage chargers I don't think they're necessarily smart enough to sort some batteries in certain states out and you have to fool or cheat them (in true VW fashion) often to even start the charging. I see the chargers as more for use of top ups and preventative charging more than reviving batteries that are very low. If you still can(?) on a 2018 what about trying disconnecting the start/stop bit at the negative post and running the car without it. Otherwise as you've put if the car's not used a lot more recharging or trickle charging or disconnect the battery (as long as it does not freeze up). - https://www.rac.co.uk/drive/advice/know-how/car-battery-conditioners-and-trickle-chargers-everything-you-need-to-know/
  29. Well after 80 minutes the car was parked outside by the tech, and after 10 minutes i ask the guy on the desk when they are telling me the story and he asks if i want him to go find out. Doh, like yes, but just go get the manager. There were a few eyes and ears on us now from the offices with open doors and a couple of customers. So the manager was very nice and came and sat down with a folder and asked if there was a problem. I asked if he remembered the last fiasco and the calls and nonsense but them learning from their ba-lls up. He could not quite understand why there was an issue. The car was in for a Software Update and an inspection. But it was in for the Inspection, no word of an update. Off he goes and then comes back to say that someone tried calling a land line number yesterday. Fair enough, but all calls have been via mobile, somehow they have not that number. At this time the car is away getting a wash and vacuum which i was asked if i would like. So anyway when the parts come in they will call me. With that mobile number they do not have. I asked what the problem was, so he looks in the folder. Front Drop Links, not the rear. I said really, i had it on the ramp yesterday and he looked in the folder and yes from and rear drop links. That car is just like it is running on shortened springs. Then i go along to the showroom to see the car i arranged to test drive, but after some looking it seemingly was parked were i was at the service centre. They have Corsa Electric the same as mine and the same age for sale, just above the £20,000 sort of mark. *Not even with someone elses money or barge pole would be mu advice.* Off i went to the Arnold Clark Renault & Dacia Dealership next to their Hyundai dealership. What a breath of fresh air. I will be back there when their showroom & Demonstrator Clio e-Tech arrives but more importantly when the Dacia Jogger Automatic Hybrid arrives. All the space anyone might ever need and a comfy in and out. Maybe not that economical but i can extend the Motability lease on the Corsa electric until this time next year or longer, or if electric charging goes too high just put it back, i have a choice of my old diesel or petrol cars to use so not stuck. .................................... Highland council has more than doubled Rapid Charging to 70 Pence a kWh.
  30. @Nirrain as the car is not being driven a lot but could be needed at short notice lets try a different approach, Looking further at the manual for the battery charger you have it is undersized in its capacity, it is not the 2-amp but the 60Ah and 32Ah in "Maintain" mode . How about replacing it with a different charger that is capable of charging a 12v battery above the 70ah you have now and for convenience go to a 4-amp charger and maintainer. From the pdf of the manual for your charger. - How good your battery is now is difficult to know so that makes it more difficult to know how much your problem is related to the battery or the car and in what proportion. I'm not sure about the accuracy of doing your test and if you do the battery is as it is at the moment.

Please only use English on Briskoda. Hello I have a Fabia 1.6. it triggers a regeneration about every 200km. no dashboard faults what to do ?
  32. Stop/Start will be unavailable for a while, until the car can charge the battery enough. It's sat for a while and needs a good run ideally, then it will work. Other factors of the stop/start at temperature inside car compared to outside, oil temperature etc that are factors.
  33. I think it was a 3rd party seller and I’m always reluctant and suspicious when a saving is too good? Besides we are taking £3 difference and Tanya almost did next day
  34. Ah right, with you now. Originally there would have been a stud with an open thread the same as a self tapping screw sticking out from the bottom of the car that a plastic nut would go on to secure the tray. However, the cars don't actually need the extra undertrays, many don't even come with them from the factory. If you still feel you'd rather have it on though, a self tapper with a big washer will do the job, just watch for possible wiring harnesses etc inside the car if you use long screws. Hope that helps!
  35. Those are the winter alloys/tyres. When I collect on the 03 Mar it'll have the 19" on the floor and those I'm the boot.
  36. The Dacia Duster has tyre sizes 215/65R16 and 215/60R17 depending on specification. There's none of this nonsense with 18" and 19" rims. The Karoq is an SUV, not a VRS. Dacia Duster with sensible tyre and rim sizes https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dacia_Duster#/media/File:2018_Dacia_Duster.jpg
  37. Mine was a tdi manual then superb tdi dsg and now tsi petrol dsg 7. that’s why they’ve kept torque down at 460nm ish because it’s manual. Good work 👍🏻
  38. U can activate it using the instructions below, provided u have the correct A5 camera.....
  39. (Sorry for the delay - I was off for a while) I checked what @kodiaqsportline asked and: - the final payment (according to a printed document): £11k - the value of similar cars: > £20k (https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-search?postcode=co29bt&radius=80&make=SKODA&model=Kodiaq&include-delivery-option=on&year-from=2019&year-to=2019&transmission=Automatic&fuel-type=Diesel)
  40. Thanks for the input. I was getting very frustrated to put it mildly...I just unpacked the struts that did not fit and Carlston you have it right as the struts in the boxes are a different model. So thanks for that very much. I will raise this with the seller tomorrow. Cheers 🍻

No. But some people have found it hard. See this post for help:- Thanks. AG Falco
  42. Supermarket charging is pretty much dead at the moment. ASDA have no interest (I've seen both PodPoint and BP charge posts "out of order"), Lidl have no interest except the rapids PodPoint installed. Other supermarkets I've tried without success are Waitrose, Marks & Spencer and Morrisons. I've never seen a charger at a Sainsbury. Aldi have been very unreliable but recently have improved and seem to be supporting the chargers in their car-parks to compete with Tesco, charging 25p/kWh via Shell Recharge around here. The Tesco PodPoint chargers seem much more reliable than other supermarket chargers and have never let me down in 2 years. Tesco is reasonably priced too at 28p.* The situation in the video is reprehensible though. On paper that area will be well served but so many out of order? Heads need knocking together. EDIT: Tesco price corrected, see below.
  43. @wyx087 Out of service ones are not showing out of order on ZapMap & PlugShare and the Charge Place Scotland app. Weeks and months out of order in locations. I can give you plenty examples of ones around Scotland and even PodPoint ones that show available while out of Service, Not all chargers are giving live data / connections to maps / apps and many are showing Out of service while working because someone reported and issue at sometime and even when used many times since shows out of service. There are ones clearly not working and you can be at them and they show available, maybe out of service, maybe occupied, maybe just someone sitting locked in and charging finished and no way can the charger be used til they come back, however long that might be.
  44. No, you nearly had an accident because YOU were at fault. If you had used the indicator, as you're supposed to do when changing lanes, lane assist would have been temporarily disabled and allow you to cross the lanes without issue. I personally don't like lane assist but will admit it makes me a better driver because I too am guilty of changing lanes without indicating.
  45. Either the Varta or the Bosch you linked will drop into place. Your old as an AGM and 68Ah, the new linked one's are 70Ah AGM and would technically drop in and charge fine. Ideally get the new one adapted, but again in theory you should be fine. If you keep the 70Ah EFB, then I would get that adapted in, the forum has a map of local VCDS users, I am sure you can find someone you can visit for a few beer tokens and get it adapted.
  46. If you really care, The dealerships got paid to carry out the Safety Critical DVLA official job on behalf of Skoda / VW UK. They were the agent. Do not expect a Service Desk Person or Service Manager to tell you much unless their boss, dealer principal is getting ready to earn more for the Dealership / Dealership group with a 'RECALL', and letting Registered owners know to 'Come on down'. Ask Skoda / VW UK when they are replacing your paid for part. Ask in writing. Remember it is this crowd that deal with stuff, but tell them if they do not know to get onto the Skoda / VW CEO, or one of their minions from the Senior Team'.
