Aaaand I’ve gone and bought a Maserati. 2016 Quattroporte diesel. Time will tell if this was a terrible mistake. But it’s a very pretty mistake

Mine has arrived at the dealership, but I can't accept it until I go on leave for 2 weeks in 2 weeks time, also got to transfer the number plate across so that will be initiated next week, but I'll do that by taking my tablet across to the dealership with the V5 and spare keys, agree with them a date for pickup. In some ways excited about it, but in others worried about it and wondering if I've done the right thing having another one with all of the problems that Mk4 has been having and whether I'll be able to deal with all of the tech.
  3. I think you will find it is the lock microswitch. When I carry long loads and have to drive with the tailgate open the interior lights become a problem at night especially as I have fitted LED lights and added some LED string lights, the stock are feeble & would not cause me any problem. I disable them by making the vehicle think that the tailgate is closed by closing the lock hook plate.

Where was each firestick purchased? Could they be regional, a bit like dvds, and both be 'uk' versions hence the block regardless of account?
  5. one benefit you would get with that charger is that if you are with Octopus it would allow you to have their Intelligent tariff which could save you some money on your electric bill. John
  6. Home charging at 7.5 p/kwh, Zoe now back over 3 kWh, closing in on 3.5 kWh as it warms up. Range was down to 150 miles, even 140 miles in well under sub zero temperatures but range back up to 170 miles and should be back over 200 miles in about 5 weeks, vernal equinox and then climb back up to 240 miles high summer when temperature here in the Midlands stays above 15C. Just over £1 to get 4 hours of the cheap charge, only have a 3.6 kW charger but car only being used for 25 miles a day and charger adds 50 miles of range for the £1 so car is charged every other day normally. Still awaiting Octopus Salary Sacrifice details, but only looks half decent with a long lease. Suppose with the all in costs it can look quite good but leaving the job and having to settle has to be considered. Cheap motoring is a rarity but my 9 year Clio gets close, paid for, tiny road tax and does 65+ mpg. servicing is about the biggest shock.
  7. For parking in areas like the roadside or layby where the speed limit is greater than 30 mph. As per the Highway Code in the UK, as has been the case for decades. Highway Code Waiting & Parking. 238-252.
  8. At a guess, based on VAG cars, either a duff battery or a weak charge. Deep load test for the battery, should be free conditional that the place that does the test gets to supply a new battery if needed. If they're present on the C1, check the alternator control wires are connected, particularly if the battery light does not illuminate on initial switch on.
  9. Mine is identical. The dealer somewhat condescendingly told me that it was the "chemicals" I used to clean the car. I 1) invited him to inspect my autoglym chemicals, and 2) asked why it was only on the quarter light and not the door trims. Having previously been down the path of having glass replaced I decided that increasingly purple, but sealed and flush glass from the factory was preferable to any replacement I may argue for. @UndertheRadarmakes a good point. I've not had mine since new, so wonder if it was part of the prep when I got the car (although it is slowly getting worse)
  10. Fitted a Vibe 65.4 plug and play amp to my SE Business, as well as an inPhase USW300 underseat sub. No photos of the sub, will decide whether or not to keep it under the seat, or maybe move it to the boot. The amp was actually dead easy to fit, once I had the correct T-harness and on its own did improve the sound of the stereo. All fitted discretely, and hopefully without creating any new buzzes / rattles in use.
  11. Mine has regularly been operating at temperatures down to -7°C this winter, but as it generates a little heat it keeps itself warm. It is screwed to the back of the non-opening half of my workshop door, through which the cable passes to the car.
  12. This seems to have done the trick! It's definitely hold the button like you said rather than push it. Thanks again! Problem solved
  13. Skoda Uk's recommendation / guidelines for the Cam Belt change is at 5 years. Not difficult, just needs the locking tool. Personallyif the 1.0 TSI was playing up and i use E10 95 Unleaded i would put in a tank of E5 97 or 99 min and see if it feels any better if it is serviced properly, good plugs in still at the right gap and a clean air filter is fitted.
  14. Front Monroe Shocks + CS Germany Coil Springs and rear just coil spring (JAPKO Coil Springs) have been fitted. All the original coil springs were absolutely fine..no problem at all. Still just for piece of mind I have changed them. Front right shocks were damaged and left has still some life left.. Car feel very solid over the humps now. Next will be changing the rear shocks...but not too soon though.
  15. Adding a charger is one of the things most likely to improve the saleability of your house. No more granny charger out the window. And on Bulb/Octopus tariff between 2 and 6 am it’s a ¼ of the normal charging price, although the day rate is a little more. So even for for the iV small battery I get to drive all my local errands and trips way cheaper than petrol. But, just don’t get a Project EV. Horrific app. I should have gone Podpoint or Ohme
  16. I change the Air Filter when I change the spark plugs on my 1.2 TSI. The spark plugs are due at 40K miles and the air filter at 60K miles. ( Plugs due again this year ) If the air filter screws were in the top you could get moisture / condensation / water from above going in to the air filter box? 🙁 Thanks. AG Falco
  17. He is charging his battery not going to the moon 🙄 20 hours ago, nta16 said: He may be going to the moon if he get a shock off all that voltage/amperage accumulated in the electrical system ⚡😂. Were would any phantom current go - the bulbs negative terminal returns via the wiring to the battery earth terminal to complete a circuit - but battery disconnected.
  18. He is charging his battery not going to the moon 🙄 And he is only doing that because of your obsession with the subject. That is nonsense regarding any Skoda produced in this century and no matter how many times a day you type it will not change that. I very recently posted the most conservative calculations based on the smallest of alternators fitted to our vehicles and it showed that the battery would recharge from a cold start in less than a minute, it may even have been 30 seconds of the engine idling and that included pre and post start glowplug activation. I invited the forum to peruse my figures in case I had missed anything and the only response was Varoom who was inspired to do a physical check using VCDS measuring blocks. His vehicle was at 60% SOC after having been left for over a week, after starting the alternator charged at less than 50% of its capacity and dropped back to a maintenance charge after 2 or 3 minutes, that was with an idling engine not driving and starting from a 40% discharged battery. I'm sure you read the thread, nothing that might be vaguely connected to a vehicle battery would escape your view. You have got to stop trotting out stuff that might have been relevant 50 years ago repeatedly as fact. I am heartened and reconnaissant that you have ceased telling people to take their battery off the car for a long low slow charge, posting videos encouraging them to disconnect their battery to reboot their ECU or asking them to post photos of a kleenex after wiping their dipstick. I spoke too soon
  19. This thread was really helpful, thanks all - here are some photos that may be useful to see where the clips are if you are determined to get the section of grill trim off... Even once you have it off, you need quite small hands to get through the gap, so again maybe the butter knife option of removing the lamp unit directly is best...
  20. On my 2019 Karoq, the engine code ("DADA" in my case) is also printed on a black label affixed on the bottom of the B pillar, passenger (right) side.

If youve had most of it apart just do a spanner check on it all again and make sure nothing obvious has been missed or is adrift Are all mounts for the wiring loom in place ? - Anything catching or rubbing ? Are all the belts at the correct tension ? Was the timing belt changed? Alternator, waterpump bearings ? Alternator pulley freewheel ? When exactly is the noise most prevalent - What has changed to make the noise better or worse This isnt easy for us to pin down without the car itself so you have to just go in with an open mind, look at the evidence, take nothing as a given, try and narrow the problem to an area and work down from that. Let us know how you get on as it will help narrow it down !!👍

Hello Leezy, welcome to the forum.
  25. Well the car is probably still worth ~£3_000 so yes.
  26. I just paid £3200 for my 2009 Fabia. I know what I would be doing.

  28. Thank you very much for the replies everyone. I guess that answers my question... I don't fancy cutting the bumper return lip the make these fit so it will stay as it is!
  29. I have an AA0725 4A Intelligent Car Battery Charger permanently connected to my car via hardwiring and a plug and socket. The last thing I do before opening the gates of my drive is unplug it and plugging it in is the first thing I do after reversing back in. I do very short trips (a couple of miles) sometimes a week or so apart (75 miles so far this year), so this keeps my battery in tip top condition. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0856FKYQD/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
  30. Aliexpress. Several different varieties, including soft versions, which have a drinks holder on the end of it.
  31. LED number plate lights from Skoda and LED boot lights from Kopacek also fitted…
  32. Also forgot, i added the ‘dynamic’ mirror indicators from Kopacek as well… FullSizeRender.MOV
  33. Thanks Varooom, Once I have the Yeti returned to me, this is something I will download, so much learning and reading to do. In times gone by, a manual for your specific make and model of vehicle, a trip to your Auto Mart shop or W.H. Smiths, life was eaiser.
  34. If the car has DCC shocks, it's suspension is 10mm lower than the Standard setup without DCC. Was explicitly mentioned in the brochure.
  35. Seems they dropped the ball when it came to the most significantly flexing set of wires in the car.
  36. Yeah, just ask John Wayne Bobbit.
  37. Not good. I see them and know it is not a car sitting with sidelights on and one faulty. They are there so that people do see a parked car where there is no street lights. Hopefully you see me if i am parked at the roadside or the lay-by i use them. Only for a short while, or if in the car having a sleep / rest and there is a chance of a lorry not spotting me where i am. Rear offside sidelight and one reg plate light on.
  38. Ah yes the Fabia isn't known for it's starfish-esque qualities.
  39. Please note - I am not a mechanic or expert in anything. You could first have a look at the Owner's Manual. If you read the Owner's Manual you'll know more about using your particular model than most other owners and many at garages and Dealerships. Digital version of 'Owner's Manual' from here, VIN or (part) year of manufacture to get the correct one. - https://manual.skoda-auto.com/004/en-com/Models
  40. Please note - I am not a mechanic or expert in anything. Are you pressing or holding the button? The instruction is different from how it used to be, now it has to "hold" the button. Digital version of 'Owner's Manual' from here, VIN or (part) year of manufacture to get the correct one. - https://manual.skoda-auto.com/004/en-com/Models
  41. It looks like these are just for standard cars the top option being for the hatch, the lower being for the saloon and estate. I don't think the vRS ever had an option for the rears. Someone more knowledgeable can correct me if I'm wrong though. I trust the OP is therefore aware that the mudflaps themselves or the bumper will require a little modification to fit?
  42. It might be one of these two part numbers? KEA 400 013 KEA 420 013
  43. 6.6p per mile is still cheap motoring though. My home tariff is 22p and I'm getting 3.2 ish miles / kWh at the moment, so about 6.9p per mile. Compared with a similar diesel, which would be 16p / mile that's cheap. I can see EV costs going up, but still works out cheap compared to ICE. Yesterday I charged at a client's office for 8 hours @ 50p an hour. Worked out that I paid about 7p a kWh for what the car took, which is super cheap.
  44. I’m waiting until I’m fit enough to replace my suspension as I find the OEM DCC monroe setup to be horrendous at best, and then mines off to revo for the performance kit. Hopefully get it sorted this summer all being well.
  45. This week I have been using public chargers which are 23 pence a kWh. I am getting 3.5 miles to a kWh. 40 kW is costing me £9.20 and I am getting 140 miles for that. I have had some sessions sitting on a Tesco PodPoint charging for free 15 minute charges which reduces the cost per mile. I am on a 50 kW charger now and started it when I had a low battery and was getting 52 kW. This is unusual in my experience of Angus Council and the SWARCO chargers they install. This is one of the cheapest Council areas that are charging to charge. That must be the majority now. 35 pence a kWh is now common. .................. The 8,600 mile for around £200 was really pretty good, as there were thousands more miles done free, but some miles paid other ways than on a CPS account at higher pence per kWh. That is based on the 3.1 miles a kWh i have had long term.
  46. Hi Andy, varoom resolved my issues and saved me a fortune. Highly recommend his advice and guidance.
  47. Inflated secondhand value is hardly relevant on a twenty year old mass produced economy hatchback!
