  1. Needing a larger family car that would cope with long journeys I started digging around for something. I was mainly after something interesting. So after spotting a Maserati Quattroporte online I popped up to drive it and after a short and fruitful haggle I bought a Maserati Quattroporte V6d. It's fairly rapid (275hp), huge inside, and possibly the quietest car I've ever driven. The ICE is dated (probably dated when it was new) but does bluetooth and DAB and that's 95% of my needs. Some of the switchgear is a bit meh (Chrysler stock) other parts of the car are pure quality. Dash is walnut and leather. Dealer put on a full set of front disks and pads (OEM), two new front springs (caused a 6 week delay), oil and filter change, and a very good valet. Bought from the dealer owner who owns a GTS version and is clearly a Maserati fan himself, I'm guessing the previous owner was also very careful as it it mint. Already terrified of kerbing the alloys and it's a total PITA to park as it is over 5.2m long. But, just look at it....snaps knicker elastic at 100 yards.

Still cannot believe that it is true, but it is! Delivery date: 2023/04/07 (order date 2021/09/13)
  3. 29 weeks after ordering, the Mrs Scala a Monte Carlo arrived this morning. I have one happy lady.
  4. Black cap and a goldfinch just two of many garden visitors

Got my Octavia a week ago. The first 900 km have been driven and I am very satisfied with my choice.
  6. It's always great to see the older Skodas out snd about so please do share a pic or two of yours - and any info to go along with the pic. I'll start. My 1988 105 LUX from today. All standard / original apart from alloy wheels, electronic ignition and gauge cluster from a 105 GL (not sold in the UK). It was my first car, gifted by a neighbour.

Well - I've been driving a manual gearbox for 20+ years, and never missed an automatic. Now I can't imagine life without it...... I've also driven 20+ years without ACC. Now I can't imagine life without it. And I've been driving 20+ years without even knowing the existence of Auto Hold........... Well, you can guess the rest 😎

I've done this on various cars and cubby holes etc. Mk1 Fabia, Mk2 Octavia, Kodiaq, Civic, Mx5. My favourite go to is speaker felt and double sided tape... Works a treat at stopping things rattling around in there. If needed you can make card or paper templates to get the correct shape first.

  10. Great news everyone! Samsung released a big update these days that fixed the compatibility issue with new Skoda and Volkswagen cars. It's a big 1.5GB update and it's advertised as "camera improvements".
  11. Of course it does, thats why it is on a lanyard. If you dont like it then cut the lanyard & put the cap on the pump and revert to having to drive back to the garage to ask if they have found your cap when you notice fuel spilling out and/or motorcyclists coming a cropper behind you. The cap touching the bodywork does not concern me, much preferable to keep losing theml.
  12. Hi there, welcome on board! Well, as far I am aware, all EU and UK versions are mounting the DNPA engine since day one. DLBA engines are fitted, at least after all I have seen in the forum so far, in AU versions. DNPA engine is mounting Garret turbo. Cheers.

Took mine from the dealer last week. Already covered 2000km and I may easily tell that it was worth waiting 16 months The car looks great, very comfortable drive with DCC, interior and boot space is simply unbeatable. The sound insulation (acoustic side glasses in front included) is miles better than my previous Karoq, but it is still quite noisy from the wheels (additional insulation may be done here). The 2.0 TSI 280 engine does not need any further comments: overtaking is as easy as in a video game, acceleration is brutal. Really easy to loose a drivers license in only a few seconds
  14. OEM VAG brake pads last quite a lot. My Mk3 is currently 92000 km on the clock and still with its original brake pads. My wife's Audi Q3 is 152000 km on the clock and still with its original brake pads too. Maybe too inspired by the Steve McQueen drive style? 😄
  15. Ah, makes sense. I will grab it tomorrow and post it up, thanks!
  16. L&K sounds lovely. Should be worth the trip 👍
  17. My 1.2tsi does 450 miles on e5 and 320 miles on e10. Both brimmed from warning light (52-55 litres, in a 45 litres tank, ha). E5 from tesco is cheap enough that it's only £3-4 more per tank. I am not a very economic driver, but do about 80% motorway and 20% ragging it on the back roads. It might help giving it the good old italian tune-up after you get the oil changed. Also, what tires are you on? And at what pressures?
  18. I'm another that has them pushed up. Others at home just close it. It was annoying for about 3.5 seconds until I just redirected it.
  19. Yeah, I was told today that 7 days after I accept the offer, the hire car has to be returned. I think the offer is pretty reasonable as it seems it is possible to replace the car with something almost identical if I want to travel to Nottingham I can get a black L&K, with black trim instead of plastic wood, standard sunroof instead of a defunct solar sunroof for around the same money as the settlement and the car appears to be in almost pristine condition and is the same year. Or there is the other option of 1.6l TDI green line, a year newer, but manual with lower specs but the same colour at the same price. I'll do a check on the L&K first to see if it has been stolen or involved in an accident etc and take it from there.
  20. Did you see HeavyMetalRich answer? If you put what year your Fabia is on your name plate or in a post I could (or even you could) look it up in the appropriate 'Owner's Manual' and post it here for future reference. Even Audi 80s came with an Owner's Manual, probably a lot easier to read than the Fabia's.
  21. There are some add on boxes which can be stacked but I'd say you're right, most times they'll fight one another. There are flags, records showing ecu flashes but not sure what software you need to view on. Some will probably enlighten us in a while... Other way I suppose is on dyno or use a GPS log for 0-60 or 400m the latter if you have a suitable private road.
  22. Hmm, takes me back to the days of my Audi 80 and Coupe. I didn’t notice any cutouts on the cap on the Fabia, but I’ll have proper look. Else I’ll get the multi-tool out 🤣 Cheers for the replies all 👍
  23. Yes, but not without a crystal ball. Press and hold the Menu/Setup button for 10 seconds, post back image or details. Looking for Software Train value.
  24. Fancy that, that is how things are with my 2011 Audi S4, so the clock has been changed back to maybe 2008 or 2009 when the B8 version of Audi A4 was launched - or maybe even before on some VW Group marques. VW Group seem to work or go round in circles sometimes, or maybe spirals.
  25. This is true. However, I'm slightly disappointed it isn't from the Milky way.... 😩
  26. You could find the plug for the heater and check with a multimeter, other than that, remove the tank and inspect/remove/replace. even for just the heater repair it looks quite expensive. There are a few kits on eBay if you search for ‘VW adblue heater’ Also a few videos on YouTube although couldn’t find much specific to the Karoq
  27. @Jochen You have PM @DanielMikel Still 0480, nothing new seen
  28. Let’s hope they have some paint left. She absolutely loves it. I don’t think I will be allowed to drive it much but it may means she stops nicking my Octavia !

  30. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/480819-fuel-cap-cord-cut-replacement It is designed / engineered by 'simply clever people', to sit on top of the fuel filler flap. If you have one that has been.
  31. When I ordered mine in June 2021 the acoustic glass was still part of the sleep pack option. When it arrived October 2022, it had no acoustic glass. The be fair though, it is very quiet inside. From what I can tell the pricing for Kodiaq options is typically 10 to 30 times the component cost. E.g. wireless charger is probably a £10 component, they charge £285 for it. Personally I think they should include more options as standard, and reduce the cost of the remaining options.
  32. They often deserve their nickname of Halfrauds
  33. Pretty useless, always trying to find the perfect position for them, haven't found it yet! 🙄

Since taking that photograph and washing and polishing the front wheels (Bilt Hamber Double Speed wax - I swear by it), I sprayed the tyres with Autoglym Tyre Dressing, just for speed . I prefer to use Garage Therapy Tyre Serum, but it takes a bit longer. The wheels really sparkle, like a very fine metalflake, but the lighting in that photograph doesn't show them off. I cleaned the area under the wipers with Back to Black gel but again I prefer Black Chrome wax. Once I get stuck in about it I will dig out the "good biscuits". The weather will have to pick up a bit before that happens
  35. Manufacturers sell "Compliance" EVs, at lower prices ie below cost to bring down their average CO2 for the marque and the ICE cars need to sold at higher price ! Some car makers sales are 99% ICE cars, many have a few percentage of EV, and TESLA are pure EV of course. If a car maker sees that the average of the cars they sell is creeping over 95 grams per kilometer they need to push those EVs and even low emission hybrid, even if it might be bit of a loss, to keep their average CO2 per vehicle below what they will be substantial fined for. Let us hope we in Europe benefit big time from this. The car, and van, world is going through revolution in Australia ,China, Europe and Canada/USA where both EVs and ICE cars are being sold off beloy cost for several reasons and the average CO2 is one of them. Also new legislation in China, EUR7 coming in Europe, mean both EVS and ICE cars becoming cheaper by the month. Tesla lowering their prices on a monthly basis in several markets Other producers responding to TESLA's price reduction Lithium battery prices falling like a stone ICE cars have to be pre-registered as cannot be sold after a certain date Chinese manufacturers, like BYD etc, looking to make sales abroad as the selling prices have collapsed in China due to the price wars. Car buyers all over the world should benefit from some great deals if they have their wits about them and realise where the market is going ie downwards in prices by 10-20% per year as TESLA and other force these matters. Bit of a worry for those who bought at the height of the market and great news for air quality in many cities of the world. https://climate.ec.europa.eu/eu-action/transport-emissions/road-transport-reducing-co2-emissions-vehicles/co2-emission-performance-standards-cars-and-vans_en Penalties for excess emissions If the average CO2 emissions of a manufacturer's fleet exceed its specific emission target in a given year, the manufacturer has to pay – for each of its vehicles newly registered in that year – an excess emissions premium of €95 per g/km of target exceedance.
  36. Agree with previous response. They're positioned too low for my liking. Unless set to push the air up near vertically, they just become a constant cold draught....
  37. Hi, I finally installed the 6+6 LEDs (6 red + 6 white) such as these on my rear doors: This looks like this: The red lights look a bit clearer than they actually are. I think I'm gonna install the 2 remaining sets on the front doors, since I'm a bit "fed up" with the Skoda logo: It has something 'too much' for me. @MartiniB Thanks for your advices
  38. After two diamond cut refurbishments I decided to go black powder coat. They look the biz & match the paint - ish. Next job is to do something about the rusty hubs. Since this pic was taken they now have Skoda centre caps stuck onto the plain black wheel centres which looks better.
  39. It's probably fair to assume it did work or the OP would have been back for further suggestions. I don't think VAG made several USB to media port cables so stick with the VAG part listed here and as long as you have a separate media port it should work ok.
  40. Personally, I have to direct them all the way up. Otherwise yes, it is blowing on my arm and it is annoying when it blows cold air. Most of the time I shut them completely.

I am sorry I answered a question, never again 😧
  42. @paperbrd @adikovec You both have PM's for 0480 version
  43. Same here, winter went by ok, summer yet to be tested (car received last October).
  44. No problem for me, 20+k miles in.
  45. I can recommend volkscentre in Blyth, I been using them since 2015, as they specialise only in VAG cars and provide excellent workmanship at very reasonable rates. I had my DMF and clutch done by them back in 2016. https://volkscentre.com/
  46. How could you even think of telling Battery Man to forget about battery charging? You sound like a man whose battery charger is inappropriate and who needs to read his owners manual 🤣
  47. I have this box on mine.. its a 2015 octavia and its done 200k as a taxi. Its a sealed for life unit and they use a mineral oil. Don't listen to anyone who says they should be changed. Its fine 🙂
