I collect my Mk4 Estate SEL PHEV Staurday 27th May. Been a long wait. But not as long as others. Ordered Feb 22 with delivery Estimate Aug 22. December 22 I started writting to skoda Uk with the threat I'd escallate and wite to anyone who would listen - consumer programmes - all Skoda Directors, All Directors of the group that owns Skoda - all the cancer groups I belong to asking people to share my stroy with any cancer groups others belong too. I have incurable cancer so asked if they intended to deliver my car while I was still able to drive it or postumously? This started things rolling and after being told they werre trying to move my delivery date moved forward I was told it would be built week 14 up from an original unconfirmed and never previously communicated build week of week 38. Build came forward to week 13 then week 12 then back until that car was eventually build week 16. Its taken a which from build to get the car shipped from Emden to the UK and now the dealers. I suspect it was a case of the squeeky wheel gets the grease so if you dont complain you sit in the line. Make a bit of noise and you may get your car sooner than had had you just wiated for things to take their course. When Skoda UK asked to close my complaint, I refused and insisted they update me weekly. I suspect they report open customer complaints as a performance metric perhaps number and time open. Anyway been a longwait and I hope I am not disapointed. I will update my entry of the tracked spreadsheet and post a picture when I collect the car.
  2. Oh no I didn't 😇 Anyway, nobody saw me. It was the big boy, and he ran off that way 👉 G
  3. Working on it ... it's very difficult trying to get through to anyone at Skoda that both understands the problem and is willing to do something logical about it.
  4. A tip in the case of crossed threads - especially if just at the first few threads of the tapping - with a non-stripped bolt, cut two or three angled grooves across the threads at the end of the bolt with a fine-blade hacksaw and use it to 'clean up' the starting threads while very carefully keeping the bolt in correct alignment. With a HT bolt, this can serve as a tap if the thread isn't too badly damaged.

If the engine isn't running, the alternator will not be able to generate any power. 🙃

1.5 TSI Style eTEC DSG Autom + a lot of extras, ordered 12/21 has now been build and started it's journey to Finland. It should be here in about 4 weeks.
  7. where will you charge if not on the chargers? I am quite happy if people move to charging at home because it frees up the network for thise who are away from home and need to use it - rather than those trying to save a few ££. SInce they started to charge for power I have seen far fewer people moaning on social media about charging problems. It means that thos in flats or without parking off street are far more confident of being able to charge.

Delivery day is upon us! 30th May it has been scheduled for. I was expecting a week or more into June so this is great. SEL Estate PHEV + winter pack.
  9. Installing a new radio android head unit in the Roomster I was looking at threading a rear camera cable through the rubber cable boot when as I peeled it back I found a large black cable broken in two with bare ends exposed. I never noticed anything amiss prior to this except the front passenger lock failing to lock. But as a major fault on Roomsters it had to get me sooner or later. Repaired with new section of cable using cable crimps and all is well and the front door not locking problem has seemingly gone away. Im mindful that Amazon do a specific cable and boot kit for this should any more problems arise.
  10. I am still waiting for a reply from my Audi executive who has promised to investigate the problem we are all having.
  11. Soon after we got the car in Jan 2012, I took the arm rest off. It got in the way of the handbrake operation, was a general pain, but made an ideal platform for my MS UK rally radios which could be fixed further back out of elbow's way! Access to the cubby box still maintained. Never regretted doing that, personally I prefer both hands on the wheel - takes all sorts 😉
  12. Yes, it's the serial number that tells the BMS a new battery is fitted. If you don't change the serial number then the BMS will assume the old failing battery is fitted and is likely to start turning off systems to protect the old battery that's no longer fitted.
  13. May I suggest you treat it as you would treat wheel studs/nuts after refitting; check them after a couple of hundred miles for tightness and - especially in this case where there is only one fastener holding things together, and not four or five - continue to check at appropriate intervals. Regardless of your success in managing to overcome the cross thread do keep in mind that the strength of the connection is now and never can be up to the level of the original undamaged part.
  14. @l1lbillDid you not consider advertising it on an enthusiasts forum like BRISKODA?
  15. Poorboys World Black Hole
  16. Not today, but got the new rims a few days ago and cleaned and sealed them beforehand. Let's see how the whole thing will look on the Superb.
  17. Yeah, after one week without issues, mine rebooted 3 times yesterday, one after another. So, no... removal of radio station logos doesn't fix the issue.

Just to let others know, the Non-uk Kodiaq is still floating around dealers / british car auctions. I purchased a Kodiaq (Reg ends RNO) in January 2023 from a large 2nd hand car dealership in Wolverhampton, which I believe to be the one being discussed in December as the VIN code was similar and it had an Austrailian Sat Nav. After some investigation, I got the same information from Skoda and my local dealership as the original poster which allowed me to get a full refund. This was a hassle though as my original car had already been sold by the large 2nd hand car dealership. I had even had the vehicle history checked prior to buying with a large Motoring Assistance group but the search didn't pick up it was imported. A couple of things sparked my concern:- SAT NAV couldn't find some Large UK cities, Map pack was Rest of World. VIN number was near identical to report posted in this thread. Skoda UK stated that the car was first registered in the UK in November 2020 but it was built in June 2019 for the Austrailian market. First UK service was recorded as January 2022. Skoda dealer identified the trim as "Style" which is not a current UK trim level. The large group car dealer stated that BCA had no declared the import status to the dealer and they are now taking it up with the DVLA. I managed to source a replacement Karoq Sportline from my local Skoda Dealership but could have done without the hassle due to a serious family illness. As the original poster stated the Kodiaq was a fine vehicle and a lovely trim level but with Skoda themselves highlighting issues it became too much of a risk to take on when viewed with other events. So the lesson I learnt here was to have a good check of the infotainment system / features for any oddities compared to UK spec.
  19. They do come out. I have fitted heated washer jets.
  20. Hi varoom, thanks for the reply and sorry for the mistake. 👍
  21. 3 weeks down the line and I've had no symptoms of air in the hydraulic system. However the slave cylinder let go today which is probably down to the clutch being rather heavy, probably due to an issue with the cover plate. I'm too old and rancid to do the clutch myself so getting the guys at the local trusted garage to do it, they say they have seen a stiff clutch have this affect before. An update in 2 weeks when the clutch is done and I'm back from the training course I'm going on.
  22. Could just be a bit sticky. If you are able to get to the bits from the engine bay, can you get some squirt in there to help free it up? Can we ask why you can't just use the hand brake?
  23. Just to update that I'm a fully signed up Skoda driver now!! Not driven it much yet, but loving it so far. Just trying to get my head around all its bells and whistles!
  24. I had a noisy wheel bearing on mine at around 30k miles. Replaced under warranty. The remaining wheel bearings are still fine at 92k miles
  25. Not personally had to change a wheel bearing on the MQB platform so id say they are generally good quality and not a normal failure point
  26. These pulleys are fitted to engines with a lumpy tickover to reduce the pulsing and slapping of the belt and smooth the alternator output at idle.
  27. Indeed, that is what I usually do with the sacrificial fastener after removing the first few threads to act as a guide.

Hi I'm Tim. Assume from the site name most cars are the performance variant. Ours isn't, as we have bought it as runabout for the kids to learn in. Having said that, my wife has fallen in love with its nippy size and practicality. Although ours is just a plodder model, I am Hoping the forum posts and you knowledgeable types will help with basic issues as and when.
  29. I'm sure you're probably correct - but no need to be so insufferable On the plus side everything is torqued down and job finished now, will check the torque in a few days 👍

Perhaps they tried and failed or just failed.
  31. Hoping things are going better for you now, @Titanium_Man.
  32. Literally every member of this forum has cross threaded a bolt at some point, no need to be condescending. If it works it works. It's tight as hell and fully done up. Even if the car is still somehow alive long enough to need another new set of shocks, I'll still be in the same situation next time I need to undo it.
  33. Come to the right place then.....😂
  34. My Karok locked itself. I opened the passenger door and put my handbag containing car keys, house keys, mobile phone etc inside. I closed the door & as I walked round to get in the drivers door the car locked itself. I had to use a friends phone to arrange an authorised break in which cost me £80. It happened again since but fortunately I had not locked my house and was able to fetch the spare key. The car is out of warranty and the dealer I bought it from suggested changing the locks at my own expense! This forum would suggest that it is a fairly common fault in younger vehicles as well. Bring back regular door locks & keys please! I know now to keep my car keys on my person.

Although I agree that it does sound like classic failure of the water pump shroud there are 2 things that don't quite add up: The heater matrix loop uses an electric pump to circulate so if there was a problem with the main pump you would get heat in the cabin regardless, maybe this pump has failed or is this a more siniser fault like a blockage? and even with very poor coolant flow, with the amount of heat in an overheating engine the thermostat should still open and allow some water into the rad so I would expect the top hose to be hot, the bottom one however may be stone cold, which hose were you feeling? could the thermostat be blocked? Silica teabag maybe?
  36. @J.R. a 2018 model car is an EA288 engine (Euro 6 emission compliant) not the EA189 (Euro 5) engine that was affected by "emissions fix" scandal. @aidy55 TDI timing belt is "recommended" at 60k miles or 5 years, prices vary between ~ £400 and £650 depending on where you go (independent to main dealer).
  37. They already look great. Looking forward to seeing them mounted on your Superb!
  38. Why would they be even remotely interested in a 4-8 year old second hand vehicle? However if what you say is true then surely the last thing you would advise is have a Skoda dealer replace the tank.
  39. Anyone with VCDS or OBDeleven or similar can do it - no need to visit a dealer.

I did the same. From what I can see the door has distorted slightly (heat?) which has lead to one of the pins not lining up with it's slot when closed.
  41. New Faraday bags arrived last week and all working fine again... Car can't be unlocked with the key inside even when stood next to the car
  42. Makes sense to me. What has changed is that the price of new and decent second hand vehicles has risen faster than for many years so when you already have a car you enjoy driving it is difficult to justify the cost of changing to a car that is, at best, only marginally better.
  43. Yeah they don’t go back In easily that’s for sure, I managed to get mine back in with a lot of gentle wiggling and pressure. If not, cut them off? Can’t see it going very far without them
  44. Front subframe ready to go back together with parts freshly powdercoated, new bearings/hubs, track rods, track rod ends, bottom ball joints, everything polybushedand of course a quick rack off a Leon Cupra R. Engine also pretty much built up and ready to go in. Just need a few little bits before it can be fitted as don't want to make life difficult with access by fitting the engine and then struggling to get to stuff. Hopefully fit the whole unit and then just wire up and plumb in and jobs a gooden 😊
  45. I"m on 1900 and I had 2 in the past week, the last one on Tuesday. I have no comparison with the previous iteration, as I've had the car for 2 weeks
  46. Just fitted a flat-bottomed alcantara steering wheel to my L&K wagon. Ordered from local skoda dealer. Total steal at ~£260. Surprised that buttons came included. Disconnected battery. Figured out how to pop out the airbag with screwdriver. Disconnect wiring loom and button loom. Used torx head and took old wheel off. I also ended up removing horn fuse under the bonnet. Night and day difference. Feels amazing and sporty. One of my best mods so far. Dash lit up with many errors after battery reconnected and started. But these all clear after a short drive.
