  1. So if changing the code on a mib2high Columbus with latest maps fixes the issue, has anyone emailed back VW, Skoda etc? If it’s as simple as that then this is great news
  2. For anyone in or around SE London (Bromley) and prepared to bring me their MIB2 High equipped vehicle I’m happy to make the coding change for you*. Send me a PM. * I reserve the right to withdrawn my offer if I get snowed under with requests.
  3. I took it elsewhere , I asked in advance if they were happy to work on a private hire vehicle

  6. I think they knew as they tested the mec unit first and they found out the pressure to be fine. But the cost to repair the gearbox inside much cheaper than £3500 and that's why they tried with mec unit + clutch because is a lot of work and the price wouldn't be the same. Trust me I come from a country (Romania) where everything was possible and why it can't be here in UK also where the people don't look at the bills when they pay for something and the majority don't have knowledge about it? I just called the garage and explain them the situation and of course they denied everything I've told them and made me look like I'm crazy, telling me that the mec unit pressure could fluctuate in their tests. Yes I pulled myself the gearbox apart and with the help of YouTube I have managed to fix it. I have lost my trust in these fake mechanics and I wanted to be convinced that they acted right with me but it wasn't the case. My belief is that they knew and when they've seen I ask questions(not an usual customer as they've had) they provided me that fake pressure tests. Thanks for your time and your advice it really helped me to reflect at the entire situation I've been. Maybe will help someone in the future!
  7. I just finally found the problem. The mec unit was ok the problem was inside the gearbox with the output shaft speed sensor wheel G502 faulty. It was spinning around the shaft and I believe that the mec unit took wrong readings from the sensor and that's why slipped gears. I believe the garage knew the problem as the results provided telling me that the mec unit has low pressure was fake but it was more time consuming and the fix a lot cheaper for them so that's why they told me the cost will be £3500+.I have managed to weld that sensor in place and now the gearbox is working again.
  8. I'm holding back to see if I can come up with a simpler patch that wouldn't need the use of the MIB2Toolbox. It would make it a lot simpler for people to do it. Basically just copying and pasting a single folder into your V12 or earlier map. As soon as I can accomplish it I will post an attachment. Failing that I will explain the long method.

  11. They usually go off by themselves when battery is exactly like for like but perhaps if you let the previous battery practically die and or over a longer period you might have upset the computer gods. If you have a code reader or scan tool you could erase the error codes and that should do it, or you could perhaps try (not sure if it'll work just quick easy and inexpensive to try) starting the engine and leave on idle turning the power steering full lock both ways if the Superb 2 is electric power steering and/or put on other electric heavy loads for the computer to see the battery (and alternator) can cope and go for a drive so the computer gets the idea better. I think you'll get more response if I ask for your thread to be moved to the Superb 2 section.
  12. Here are a few photos of my mk3 which I collected just 8 days ago following a long-drawn-out search for ideally another L&K to replace my mk2 one that got written off in April. The previous owner has removed all Skoda and L&K badges wherever possible, just glad they were unable to do the same with those on the interior. I must admit though I do kind of like the fact that it doesn't shout about where in the range line up it sits and the only external non logo badge is the Superb on the boot.
  13. @toot Completely agree. In North Wales we have one of the highest standing charges, yet we have one of the largest off-shore windfarms in the UK off the coast. We have two large windfarms just up the road from our village. Like you, I have no objection but why do I pay more for my leccy than other parts of the UK that generate nowt? Even my suggestion that the windfarm community benefit fund money (bribe to objectors) should be used to subsidise the leccy bill of those affected was scoffed at by the powers that be, but was popular with bill payers. Instead, the money is used for grants for 'community projects' that should be funded by the council.
  14. Wow. Good find. You think they knew all along? And deliberately tried to deceive you? You're ruining my view of humanity!! Well done on the perseverance though. Did you pull the box apart yourself or did you rely on the same fakers to do it. What a good outcome though. If I'm remembering back to the start of this problem one possibility was always the speed sensor, just shows how distracted things become and how even specialists do not check all the correct fault checklists before reaching conclusions.. so if they had of replaced mech it would of still had the same fault!
  15. Bit less than a quid a day for standing charge and about £1.50 for lecky and gas usage I presume. Mine is probably about £3 a day currently down from more than £10 a day in winter and that includes running an EV for about 8k miles per year. I use about two thirds of lecky at the cheap 7.5p a kWh and one third at the 40p per kWh by using solar generator batteries which down about 3 kWh of lecky to keep fridge freezer laptop etc thru the day. Could fairly easily more to 80/20 or even 90/10 % use night/day electricity and will before next winter.

I'll second the fact that Panasonic seem to be the only batteries that last after having constant battery warnings in the past and using multiple brands such as Energiser, Duracell and cheap Chinese ones. Eventually I bought two boxes of them as my motorcycle uses the same battery for it's keyless system. Since then absolutely no issues. FWIW the boxes state CR-2032PG/1B as the part number
  17. Bit more tidying, front grill for the wide mouth had a bit of damage so changed that today, tidied bits and pieces behind bumper and tidied the extra wires and pipes in engine bay, was all secured out the way after the pics got a new plate for it too
  18. That is not right, Colins expertise has been of great help to people, start another thread using the content if need be. JR RS did not create the thread, even if he did he dose not own it or cannot dictate what direction it takes after 128 pages, why is he getting so upset about thread drift when it is this wonderful community helping each other?

I think that’s about what Prykey, the 1st owner and big participant here, paid for his…. errrr, ours in March ‘16 and he traded it in for a Mustang GT for £18k in December ‘19 and I bought it from an excellent indy front in Colchester, who paid £19k for it.
  23. It's going to be posted by MartiniB on the side https://www.briskoda.net/forums/forum/7-skoda-audio-electronics-and-security/ If those files haven't moved from the location they were originally in.
  24. Personally I think that would be a very bad move. It's not just a simple code change - it also involves a licence agreement with the TMC supplier. I'm guessing maybe a six figure sum or more. Also if the TMC supplier gets a whiff of our patches they could force VAG to take their codes out of all future maps or possibly change their encryption method.

  28. Yeah, I'm told Scots are easily confused...
  29. Well, yes, it works! Yesterday I tried the WIFI connection and of course it restarted soon after the start of the trip. Driving to work this morning, no restarts. 💁‍♂️ I suspect that the restart is more caused by the WIFI connection. BT has been turned on for me even in a wired connection. Yes, try to turn off WIFI on the car side, for example, if WIFI and BT are turned off on my phone, it pairs with multimedia and automatically turns on BT and WIFI on the phone side. So it is better to disable WIFI on the car side.
  30. I've got one somewhere but I don't know if I'll use it for the car yet. Time will tell and that.
  31. You need to look in your maps TmcProviderSets.xml and then reference to TmcProviders.xml to determine the correct coding values to use for Set ID. Note the above links are for AUS/NZ maps, and so are probably not the same as current EU maps. In TmcProviders you’ll find which provider ID you need… <tmc_provider name="Trafficmaster" id="2"> <tmc_provider name="Inrix" id="12"> And then in TmcProviderSets you find the adaptation value you need to code to enable that provider ID. From the above example (which almost certainly isn’t correct for Europe) you can see that Set ID 15 includes provider Trafficmaster (2) but not INRIX (12)… <tmc_provider_set id="15" use_free_tmc="true" use_online_traffic="false"> <provider_ref id="1" mode="non-exclusive" /> <provider_ref id="2" mode="non-exclusive" /> <provider_ref id="5" mode="non-exclusive" /> <provider_ref id="9" mode="non-exclusive" /> <provider_ref id="13" mode="non-exclusive" /> </tmc_provider_set> You’ll either need to find a Set ID to code that includes INRIX (fairly safe modifying only coding) or modify the map xml configuration files like catatonicShrimp did for AUS/NZ (here be dragons if you don’t know what you are doing).
  32. Ok I think we'll stick with fresh maps but no TMC on the mib2 standard... not much traffic in these rural parts of Wales. As for the mib2 high, the current setting of 15 wasn't doing too much as I posted up above so may be I'll try 32782 later... if it will take it. Guess it will knock out foreign services if you take it abroad. 15 was a set that matched those and the UK TMC free service.

I recommend you post a clearer use case if you want meaningful answers.
  34. You set the TPMS to the pressure or actual circumference of the tyres. They do not have to be the same front and rear. You can fit the slightly mis sized spare and reset the TPMS and then not get a warning.
  35. Not really. Before the remap there was always a bit of a "dead spot" between idle & the first bit of pedal travel. After the remap it was still there albeit reduced. Personally I think it's the lag on the turbo spooling up more than anything else. Now with the RC XLR on S+ setting it does sharpen it up in D mode which now feels more like the old DSG S mode but there is still a tiny bit of hesitation. TBF I am spitting hairs here because once it gets off the line the pick up is very fast. What I have noticed is that in D mode it changes up lower in the rev range & uses the increased Torque (from the remap) to gain rapid forward motion. I have a K&N air filter fitted & you can hear the roar of the air being sucked into the engine just after each gearchange. Put the XLR into R or R+ (Race) mode & with S mode selected on the DSG it becomes a Hooligan. Very rapid. Almost too rapid & the gearchanges become quite savage. Don't think I'll be using that mode unless I take down the Santa Pod 1/4 mile. 🏎️
  36. Try unplugging the EGR valve, I hate to say it but it's almost always the EGR valve on AUB/BBZ engines. I replaced mine with a brand new Pierburg part and had no further problems. Try not to worry about the environment, it's a collective endeavour where the law of large numbers holds sway and your little petrol engine isn't really doing any harm.
  37. Some 2018 1.5 TSI ACT,s had issues and required a software update, there was a Safety Recall on lack of torque, so check that the service and warranty history on that and was this software update done. @ 5 years the Cam belt is due a replacement and quotes on that are between £750 which is actually low & as high as £1,100 plus, which has become common, so check that out. The 1.0TSI also requires a Cam Belt replacement @ 5 years according to Skoda / VW UK, and that is cheaper, but needs done by someone that knows their stuff, not as straightforward as the old days. (There are ones co-cked up already if you look in the Mk3 Fabia Section.) Both are at the mileage where at least one change of spark plugs was due, and actually a 2nd change is due. ? So what does the Full Service History show other than Oil & Inspection Services & Extended Scope in 2021 and then 2023, is it even that. ARE THEY SERVICED TO THE MANUFACTURERS GUIDELINES, RECOMMENDATIONS or SPECIFICATION / SCHEDULE? So that you could take out a Skoda Used Car Warranty if you wanted to? I think they will need the cambelt changed for that to be the case. Pollen filters twice changed? ? Brake Fluid ever changed? ? What are the tyres and brakes looking like? ? Are the windscreens OK, not too chipped? Drive them and you decide.
  38. If DQ381,s are going to have the issues that DQ200,s did that ultimately required a Global Recall in 2012 which excluded Europe then Service Campaigns and Recalls and TPI,s and software updates then it is important that faults are reported to the VW Group via Dealerships and Customer Services and the Importers. No point being told, 'never heard of that before', or 'they all do that', or you use the gearbox / autohold / e-brake wrong. If there are fundamental design, manufacturing, material or fluid faults or issues this early in the production life of these DSG,s then that does not bode well.
  39. Unfortunately I did not record the measurements, I will be obvious when you remove the top cover I think. Yep, I just used it as you say to keep the chain against the sprocket. Incidentally, you will need new sealant too. Think I still have the type I used if you need more info.
  40. Step 2 if that is not done at a Skoda Main Dealer or Approved VW Group repairer is do not let anyone other than them touch the car / dsg. Even though you might be told the car is out of manufacturers warranty you want it in for a diagnosis at a Main Dealers even if you have to pay for that. Keep a record in writing & then you might need to get into discussions with Skoda UK over the failure if there is a failure of a 5 year old DSG that has no Servicing requirements until 80,000 miles. There might be the need for an independent expert to be involved, but that all depends on what is faulty and how the Main Dealership or Skoda UK deal with things. This was a DQ200 has no Service Requirements and is an example of how a owner might be dealt with at a Main Dealership. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/513192-dsg-repair-costs-should-skoda-pay

  42. And finally we've collected her! Had a bit of back and forth with the dealer. They kept promising delivery dates that came and went. Eventually they offered us an alternative vehicle. I assume an order that someone cancelled. It was still a brand new and unregistered vehicle (6km on the clock) and was the same spec as we ordered apart from gas oven and halogen instead of LED daytime running lights. So we jumped at it and took it. Saved a few hundred anyway as we obviously didnt't have to pay for the missing options. Another nice suprise was we got a model year 2023. So it's got nicer upholstry and a couple of other little changes. The van itself was produced in February so very new. On the way home from picking it up we stopped at a local lake with a dam (Möhnesee- the dam busters dam in case anyone is interested) in order to try everything out etc. First impressions are very positive. She also drives very nice and has plenty of oomph for getting up hills and joining the motorway etc. And the first big trip is also booked. We're driving to the UK via Dunkirk/Dover in August and driving up to York/Bridlington area and back down again. Pleasently surpised by the cost of the ferry. Return for 2 adults and a dog €286. And a 16:00 and 12:00 crossing so no silly early hours or middle of the night crossings.
  43. They will not employ actual detailers to prep a 'Used or even new car' & apply the product that cost them very little. It is their valeters / cleaners or contractor. Get any money back that you paid them for this 'special product' that you got as part of the deal but you actually paid for as they have the 'cost' on their costs before sale when paying tax on profits. I used to prep cars for sales using the products that cost under £30 and were under an hours labour and were showing as £300 plus.
  44. @mshere conesus of opinion (I can't remember seeing any strict evidence, or I might have forgot) that I have seen is as varoom has put. It could well be that everything works but will your new expensive AGM battery last as long and operate as well without the 'coding' until anyone shows proof by many years of efficient service from the new uncorded AGM battery we won't know for sure as VW likes to keep secrets and hide things. Halfords have their own battery numbering system and database and batteries marketed for them, nothing wrong with their batteries they're good but expensive often. One my neighbour bought had an extra level bar to the battery foot bar which he didn't want me to cut off so it took me an extra 20 minutes to adapt (file out) the clamping bar to be firm at its wrong angle and he could have got a better battery for less cost had he let me order one for him. Don't panic but I'd look (and did) for someone local who can 'code' the battery for a beer token perhaps from the map (found it). Briskoda VCDS Owners Map (click me) Doubt or treble check any input as we had a knowledgeable poster on here leave that to an auto-electrician even though he had a VCDS and the auto-electrician enter 7Ah instead of 70Ah and the battery not surprisingly and computer programs started playing up within a year. By the time the start/stop , er, stops working because the battery state of charge is too low the battery has already gone lower than is best. A battery in a low state of charge can cause all sorts of unexpected issues even if the car starts and the lights seem bright enough and there are no warning lights or messages. Despite what some seem to think it's not against the law when required to fully charge the battery with an appropriate battery charger and maintainer to get better out of the battery and longer life, AGM or not. What many don't know is that summer heat of 30c and 40c isn't good for the battery but the results might not show up until the colder weather in autumn and winter so are disassociated. If we get that extreme heat again this summer when it's over I'll check the AGM battery on my wife's car and use a charger if required (the heat isn't the best to to charge the battery either). Good luck.
  45. Hi, welcome to the forum. Halfords are wrong, your new battery will definitely need coding because of the different capacity and the change to AGM. I have seen references that Halfords claim to possess the capacity to do the required battery adaptation - although I'm not sure I'd trust them to do this correctly now.
  46. @SkOmk4, My answer in line: 1. All the Release Active DTCs will be present only on the SFD locked modules. The reason why the DTC is still present on that module is that you forgot cu SFD Lock the module after coding. The correct "procedure" to do some coding is: a. Open the Hood (to bypass car firewall) b.Check for previous DTCs before do any coding c.SFD Unlock the module you what to code d. Do the coding d. SFD Lock the module back e. Check for DTCs 2. Backup of whole cars/modules is a MANADATORY step (prerequisites) before start playing around with OBD11 dongle. The saved backup is the only one that can save you if something goes wrong, apart from a visit to your dealer. 3. Like I mentioned in my previous message, try to forget about the built-in OCA, and do the coding manually. If you mess something up(sometimes it can happened due to some parameters in German), just check the History section on that module and revert/rollback your changes. Hopefully this is useful for others too!
  47. The error message means you need to program in a workshop code and importer. The program is offering if you wish to use a default like 123, and 12345 for importer and workshop ID (examples) So you should press YES to accept, or you can delve into program settings to adjust and write own value's.
  48. Hi folks. Could you please advise on the fixed /variable service schedule for 2016-2017 Tsi 1.2 Fabia? Buying, and need to know what services ought to have been done and at what mileages. Also can you please advise what mileage for cambelt change?. Thanks very much for any help.
  49. If on Fixed it was each 9,400 miles (10,000) or 372 days or sooner. On Variable / Flexible that was / is 24 months or 18,000-20,000 miles. Not much gets done, or that much checked. Oil & Filter at Fixed or Variable. A Pollen Filter maybe at 2 years. Brake Fluid Change at 3 years if Paid For. Spark Plugs and Air filter should be at the 2nd Major Service, so 4 years / 40,000 miles. At least those things should be checked. But being changed might or might not happed. All in all Full Main Dealer Servicing means Free Wash & Vacuums and looks and see and maybe parts and maybe no parts replaced. The Body Check should be done and put on the system each time in, and tyre and brake visual inspections etc etc
