  1. Sorry for mistyping…

It was probably was doing a passive regen, if so soon it may ask you to do an active regen, follow the handbook if it does.
  3. Blimey! Thank you @Bap33, @J.R., @UndertheRadar, @HeavyMetalRich, @Warrior193, @petrolcan, @Mickvrs220 So, yeah the car is a 2016 Superb and it’s the original screen. I’ve now tried White Spirit and that did nowt as did WD40, Panel-wipe (well what have I got to loose!) and QD too. A Brillo is completely safe on glass @petrolcanas it’s far softer than the glass itself plus, of course, it has the soap which acts as lube. Since the video, I’ve also tried Astonish hob cleaner with a Brillo but that didn’t touch it either. But using the glass scraper sounds like a great idea @HeavyMetalRich so I’ll give that a whirl. It’s just so odd that whatever this is, you can’t feel it with a finger nail and it has built-up at that position on the glass at its end of travel, making the blade squeak like a banshee! @Mickvrs220 does the G4 need to be used with a DA? I’m thinking that cerium oxide will be the final weapon to attack this gunk. Thanks again for all your suggestions guys. Num
  4. Probably. 73 years is pretty old for a cambelt.
  5. A 280 Superb is around the 276bhp mark. It's also petrol, and 4x4. Nothing like a 190 diesel. 41mpg out of a 280 is good going G
  6. EVM was having a go at certain drama queue in this very sensible video 😂 Where he drove a 22 kWh car without rapid charging capability 260 miles.
  7. There are people that sell Guide Dogs for the Stupid. Again i am not that keen to increase his viewing figures, He is a vlogger, a journalist and he gets a story to tell by making it sound like he has been cheated. Maybe just drive a car because you need a car, and drive it normally and it will not eat tyres.
  8. Cheers mate it’s velvet red so nice metallic. Depends on the light. This is it with summer tyres on

Looks as though they're coming through slowly now, fingers crossed we are all in receipt of them this year 🤞
  10. Here with my new Trinity And after the shocks had a chance to set again
  11. After 10 years of Skoda ownership, covering a Fabia vRS, Octavia vRS and finally the Superb Sportline Plus, it's time to say farewell. Whilst not a prolific poster here on the forums, I've really enjoyed reading about people's experiences, ownership journeys, and advice. The Superb replacement is very different - a Jaguar F-Type R coupe. It certainly doesn't have the space of the Superb 🤣 Thank you everyone for making this a fun place to be an owner and hope everyone continues to enjoy these great cars.
  12. Bought our Karoq Sportline here in April and nothing but a good word for James in the showroom. However, beyond that they wouldn’t be top of my recommended list. The car had been transferred in from elsewhere and the small Sportline badge was missing from the steering wheel so James arranged for it to be called back when the part came in. In the meantime a few software errors cropped up which would be dealt with at the same time. A courtesy car had been arranged but come the day no record of it. After scrambling about a Kamiq was found, luckily I could drive a manual. When I picked the car up I spoke to the service desk about how hard the ride was on the 19in rims only to discover later on they’d been over-inflated by about 12psi each wheel. I’ve since been informed by the manager it’s standard Skoda policy to over-inflate tyres of the standing stock to save flat spotting 🤔 And then there’s the issue of the warranty and breakdown. I was told appropriate paperwork, booklets etc would be sent out but two months on, nothing. Contacted James who referred my enquiry to his admin. Nothing. Chased again and told that admin were single-handedly dealing with new vehicle registrations. Still nothing. Eventually I was sent a single sheet with warranty dates on but due to ‘date protection purposes’ I couldn’t be given any info with regard to the breakdown cover. A member on here has since kindly sent links to access both the warranty and breakdown details. How much more convenient would it be to have something handy to keep in the folder with the handbook. Sent in a complaint which the general manager intended to discuss with his after sales manager. All I’ve had since is an apology for the fact the tyres weren’t deflated to the correct psi upon delivery. Nothing said about the other issues. Needless to say I’m back on to him for a response. In summary, I’d more than recommend James in sales but as for the back room team 😥

What a bummer ,least your safe cars will mend ,it is annoying tho ,dash cam will come in to its own for ya now tho .
  14. Odd, on small screen and struggling a bit, but 8 seems not to be listed, and 9 is as shown in the table.
  15. Not sure those are roof rails Lee, maybe just trim bits. Will look at descriptions...
  16. No it dont need to be used with a da but if all you have tried has not work mebbe the g4 wont work either ,go with the blade scraper see if that helps first ,save some money too👍

It got picked up on the last two MOT’s as an advisory except the one the dealer had done. Funny how the advisories all clear up when MOT’d by a dealer with a nearby garage. Is it wise to get it MOT’d myself even though 11 months left? Or opening myself up to unnecessary repair bills prematurely?
  18. I did. Will let you know how it works after I take another drive.
  19. It is a while since I have updated my RNS510. You could try and download a file called SWL_fix or alternatively install a lower version than 5238 first. It did take quite a while for the upgrade on mine though. My 6276 file was 500MB.
  20. Personally, I'd go with the one with full history - check that DSG gearbox services have been carried out if car is fitted with wet clutches - which I believe the one you are looking at has.
  21. New badge free rear and a couple of other freshly washed ones!
  22. Corrected that for you!
  23. The last image shows a horizontally slotted plastic part just to the left of the thing you're holding; probably where that assembly is designed to be held? The screws that are loose and missing appear to be items 18 and 17 here, but as it appears to be only a belt cover, I'm not 100% sure this will solve your leak, unless the belt runs wet?
  24. While looking at what part numbers to search, I did note that there appears to be two versions, of which the newer one isn't apparently just a supersession of the older (A-suffix). So avoid sourcing from cars that are earlier than MY2003. The changeover was some time in MY2002 (tenth digit of VIN=2). No idea what difference there is but both variants are discontinued:
  25. I've recently been having lumpy, stalling issues within the first 5 mins of driving then it seems to disappear. I've noticed this oil in the rear sensor so I've given it a quick wipe to see how we go - I feel some braking (DSG) affects the lumpiness when it starts so wonder if I also have a vacuum leak.
  26. Dunno if they really have availability, or if you were thinking of spending serious cash to solve this, but LLL parts seem to have new genuine available: 6Y9860025C and Skoda Roof Rail 6Y9860026C - LLLParts both there.

    All quite normal, minor even
  28. Mid 80s, Lecht ski car park, one cold child skipping afternoon on the slopes due to being wet and frozen. Wonder of that will work with no ignition key. Hmm is it hot.... aaaaaaaaaargh, then couldn't admit it! Had a white and black mark for quite a while!

If you are saying I’m being a tad dramatic then I welcome that with open arms!! Thank you : )
  30. All the wiring is under the dashboard. There should be plastic elbow that fits in the slot (cover plate removed) that holds the Garmin or other GPS. Top Tip: If the original Garmin unit did not come with the car, just don't bother - they are no longer supported and are pretty rubbish. If you need GPS, buy a SatNav or use the phone with off-line maps, and plug into the cigar lighter.
  31. still good to have for someone else though.
  32. It removes many stains indeed, but is also very efficient to remove anything that sticks: stickers, chewing-gum, rain, sap, tar... whatever the support is: textile, plastic, etc. and without damaging the support itself. WD40 might be a good tip too for our friend @numskull

Check the sleeve clamp between front & rear exhaust sections, that is usually the first thing to let go, plenty of meat left on the suspension arm and as for surface rust on a mild steelexhaust pipe, well that just shows how far cars have evolved if people find that concerning.
  34. Glad that the flapaerobics worked for you!
  35. While not a decider, this would be something that I'd factor in, preferring history over the absence of it. I've not had problems with any of the high mileage cars (last one a 154k Touran for my Son) we've bought, and the mileage on the car you're looking at wouldn't bother me. Agree with Warrior and EN - given its age, it's probably been a mile muncher doing distance work (states the obvious). Gaz
  36. Thanks people. Well in the end I went for a 220 Sportline hatch in business grey. It is just too tidy to ignore and 280s are either high miles or other end of the country or more money than I (my wife) want to spend. We have a wee Mini Cooper to razz along back roads but I suspect this will be just about perfect for me.
  37. I believe someone on here was after roof rails from an estate... @Dace53
  38. It is important to know sometimes who is making the vids and writing articles and making statements. Especially when they might be making inaccurate comments and stating things as fact when they might be anything but.
  39. MPG

    1 point
"Older cars like the Yeti = 44.97mpg" - I had a rather older 1961 Morris Minor 948cc that averaged over 50mpg on a run and likewise a Datsun 100A. My Modern-ish 2014 1.4 tsi does about 46mpg average with a best of about 53 mpg. Obviously performance has change but some older cars had surprisingly good economy . Saying that I had a Vauxhall Viva 1256 Viva that did 32mpg and a 1.3 Escort that did 28mpg.
  40. If you go for the S, maybe go for the Eibach R19953 because that is only sold to replace OEM part number 5Q0511115S and no other OEM part numbers. This means that Eibach R19953 should be an exact match to 5Q0511115S. Bilstein 36-301874, Kilen 63144, and Lesjofors 4285745 are all sold to replace both 5Q0511115S and 5Q0511121AH, so may not be an exact match to 5Q0511115S. If they match 5Q0511121AH you may find that they are slightly longer and/or slightly stiffer than 5Q0511115S. By using a 5Q0511121AH rear spring (if that's what these three springs are), you may find that your rear end no longer looks like it's lowered ride height, but standard ride height, ie. no longer matching the lowered ride height front end. Eibach R19953 rear spring (matches 5Q0511115S) https://www.autodoc.co.uk/eibach/18259209
  41. Just been told by Caffyns Ashford that my Karoq 1.5 SEL TSI has a lifetime belt and will not need changing. I am very pleased to have saved £775.00 which I was going to pay in three weeks time. What is a lifetime? at 73 years old will the cambelt outlive me?
  42. I think with the Octy4 Škoda decided the D stands for “you Don’t need to know” instead of Drive 😉
  43. I found this one here.........I have downloaded and scanned it, seems to be ok (5328), but cannot vouch for quality of it. https://drive.google.com/u/0/uc?id=1sHpwduaniYoosbBgt3-4BmMy2LfvJpGG&export=download On the flip side............Often links as you say are broken or are hosted on dodgy sites, sometimes you may just have to get the wallet out...... https://www.latestsatnav.co.uk/latest-5238-software-update-for-skoda-columbus-rns510-navigation-308-p.asp You "may" need new map update after this as well. https://www.satnavishop.co.uk/skodavw-rns510810-navigation-ver-2020-2021-sat-nav-map-update-disc-v17-327-p.asp
  44. I would suggest you let your ‘idiot nephew’ take the bus in future - he’ll have plenty of time to watch fellow idiots on Tik-tok then
  45. Nope but that ones still there at least...
  46. I think it may be push in then twist to remove it. Seem to recall doing that on my Octavia. You don't say how old your nephew is but my grandson is 17 and he's gone from a bright young lad to a halfwit in no time at all 🤣
  47. Good reply jr ,totally agree with what you say know your limits and adapt to the conditions make alot of sense👍
  48. Hello, pleasure to join!
