  1. Update on my saga. just about to order strut from Czechoslovakia main Skoda dealer as cheaper by over £100 than Uk dealer. Then thought I would check out a recommendation from another Skoda owner who had same problem which turned out to be a break in the wiring. I pulled back the rubber boot between strut and tailgate, and low and behold a broken wire. It is clearly a design fault that the incredibly fine wire is not capable of taking the flexing when the boot opens an closed. I raised the boot to highest point and propped it. then release bottom of strut which gave better access to the wires It is not possible to join wires together so soldered a small extension wire between the broken ends replaced strut and with some trepidation pressed the closure button. Eureka, boot lid smoothly descended and closed. A bit of a fiddly job but well within the competence of any DIY person. remember the main dealer price to replace strut was £ 835 plus £ 96 to investigate, so well worth having a go. Took around an hour to complete. hope it is a permanent fix, though does’nt solve the design fault and this wire or others could break in same location.
  2. Great composition, nicely balanced shot. Liking the reflections and processing. Nice one
  3. Errr... I think it's you that cannot read or calculate properly... the figure is 1.474 billion... so 40 million is just 2.7%. Your maths is wrong and either way it's still a very small percentage
  4. Nissan’s earnings have exceeded the forecast made by the company, revised upward at the first-half financial results announcement. For the full fiscal year, consolidated net revenue was 10.6 trillion yen, resulting in an operating profit of 377.1 billion yen with an operating margin of 3.6%. Net income1 was 221.9 billion yen. The fiscal year also marked Nissan’s return to positive free cash flow and operating profit for the automotive business. Automotive net cash was 1.2 trillion yen. Nissan plans to propose the payment of a year-end dividend of 10 yen per share for fiscal year 2022 at the general shareholders meeting. https://global.nissannews.com/en/releases/230511-01-e
  5. Judge Judy would tell you, 'borrow from' not lend from someone, you lend to someone and Nissan are not lending to the Government of Japan.
  6. Yes, I've a debadged 280 estate in white and I've noticed, especially on motorways, vehicles coming up at a pace and then suddenly tuck in behind me at a distance - takes me back to the late 80's when I had a 2.8 Granada in base dark blue with steel wheels, same thing used to happen.
  7. If the papers today are reporting fact then Nissan is not building ICE vehicles from 2030. Is this in the UK / EU? The video yesterday posted on the Tesla Y had the Motoring Journalist say something funny about not being able to build ICE vehicles from 2030 being pushed back to 2035. There was / is nothing against Building them for Export, it is about First Registering them in the UK from 2030 and for the time being the Tory Government saying it will now be 2035. The UK manufacturers like Rolls Royce / Bentley, Nissan, MINI, JLR, Stellantis manufacture cars / vans for other world regions / countries.
  8. Hello everyone. In April, I couldn't wait and purchased the updated cover 06Q 103 925L. It was no different from the factory 06Q 103 925K, except that it had white plastic rivets. Today, I received the updated cover from the dealer, with the code 06Q 103 925N. The reverse side is completely different, and there is additional protection.
  9. vorsprung durch technik. This is what you get from German/BMW Minis. Would not have happened in my G Reg, first time round, 850 cc mini.
  10. Pretty certain you can't - they are just a gas strut that extends to their full length. On the electric versions the opening height is governed by the motors within the struts that cut off at a predetermined distance within the full stroke - that's not possible with a gas strut.
  11. Possibly the glass is too far forward slightly in the clamps. Compare with the other side before tearing stuff apart. Re-seating the window glass involves pulling out two grommets and loosening/tightening two 10mm bolts holding the glass in the clamps on the runner. And NOT losing the 10mm socket you use into the door when trying to withdraw it.
  12. Follow the servo hose back from the servo, looking for any unconnected bits...

I tackled the engine bay and exterior in a single day, which just so happened to be the hottest day of the year at the time. Car was fully safe washed, fallout remover applied, tar and glue remover applied followed by clay bar. Out came the masking tape, and polishing could begin. From what I remember it was a good 8hrs+ on the exterior that day. With polishing done, it was time to get the wax down, shuffling the car around the drive to find shade and not bake the wax on 😬 Finished result was pretty good for "primer" grey.
  15. For NX3 you will need to ditch the small organizer on top if you have a low/small spare. It is bulkier than the thin Canton. It fits well in the normal spare. You can try to move the speaker from one enclosure to the other but I have not tried it and dont know if the speaker will fit and if it does if the Canton box will be enough from air dispersion, volume etc. pov.
  16. They never reset the Oil Service indicator then @ 60,000 miles. If the correct oil was used which was VW504 00 / 507 00 so 5w 30 FS III it is long life oil so ok for 24 months, 18,000-20,000 miles. It needs plugged in to reset unless someone knows better.
  17. Hey, Sorry a bit more info, it's 2014 2.0 Litre Diesel VRS Estate. That bottom chart is probably what I'd like to follow and do yearly, the lack of service history makes it hard to tell what it's had done I will grab the info tomorrow and let you know. Thanks for your help so far!
  18. Load the battery up with headlights, screen heater etc. on - then test the battery voltage with the engine running. Most battery condition testers have an alternator and starter crank test function.
  19. Nissan have said No more ICE development apart from in the US All new cars for Europe will be BEV no Hybrids Nissan to be fully electric car company by 2030 In various statements over the last couple of years https://www.topgear.com/car-news/electric/every-new-car-nissan-launches-europe-will-now-be-fully-electric
  20. Back in the 60s, in NZ, my Dad was manager of a Wellington taxi firm - he drove an ex-taxi as a private vehicle - black saloon with a RT aerial on the roof. Whole family were on our way to visit grand parents one Sunday afternoon, dad pulled into the car park around the back of a Wairarapa pub out in the sticks, wanting a quick beer - pub seemed to doing a roaring (after hours) trade, car park was pretty full - you never saw window blinds and doors close so quickly! Really odd, all those cars and nobody around 😄

Diesel sales in Ireland are dropping massively - think they are around 20% now versus 70% a few years ago- ultimately customers I think tend to buy whatever the dealer is pushing but diesel works for a lot of Irish drivers as its still cheaper per mile to fuel and most of the flee (i.e. new and old combined) are diesel powered. My guess is that diesel sales will rebound a bit in the UK with 2030 now being 2035 but really its down to what you local dealer is pushing imo
  23. Nothing can be replaced until properly diagnosed so it looks like you are going to have to have someplace other than where you are going do that. With a new car and nothing showing with their Technicians checks and road tests you are kind of stuffed for now, but at least your concerns are on record with Skoda or should be. You will get the repair if a repair is required, it is just a shame you have this from your new car.
  24. For me it's only slightly in favour of Karoq. The Kamiq is more than competent. To sum up. If the day ever came where the choice was limited to a Kamiq or Karoq I'd opt for the Kamiq SE with 17" wheels. That's it!!
  25. There is a key in your KESSY fob and on the drivers door handle, there's a small plastic cover at the back end of the handle that needs to be removed to exposed the lock. Just be careful not to scratch the paint.
  26. Plenty of Skoda Superbs in use by UK police, traffic, dog cars etc, but not armoured, it's just too expensive at £150K for general policing duties and basically no need. Ministry of Defence have quite a few 280 estates in SE guise used as covert command cars for EOD (bomb disposal) teams throughout the UK, again unarmoured. Quite rapid, plenty of space for kit and inconspicuous (covert blue light fit). Chronologically - Omega Estate 3.2 - ST220 Estate - BMW 5 series - and more recently the Superb.
  27. If it were me then I'd remove it. There's no legal obligation to carry a temporary spare or repair gunge here in the UK. If the tyre is missing, it won't make any difference to the settlement figure. Just had a look a the prices on Autotrader. Obviously depends on mileage but the likelyhood is the car will be broken up for spares anyway. Seems a bit odd that they're taking the car away without already giving you a settlement figure? Until they payout then It's YOUR car not the insurer's to do with what they please.
  28. No idea, sorry. Doesn't ring a bell though. I tend to think, put the price you'd absolutely dream of getting, then edit/bring it down a notch every few days until you start to get any sniffs of interest.
  29. I've had more noise from Bosch wipers than from Valeo ones - but maybe the Bosch ones bought from general retail outlets, rather than from VAG dealers, could be "somewhat inferior" "seconds"??? NB: our nearest VAG dealers are much further away than retailers like Halfords . OTOH, I didn't seem to have that issue with Valeo blades bought from retail outlets. FWIW, I won't buy "cheap" blades, as experience showed that they'll probably be noisy and I'd then have to replace them as above - a classic example of "buy cheap, buy twice"!
  30. +1 The Canton sound is still great whilst sitting in the rear of my 2017 Superb. I can also clearly hear audio coming out of both the top and bottom speakers of the rear doors. My Canton Balance/Fader is set for centre/middle of the car interior.
  31. Yes, see list here that includes "Classified adverts" https://www.briskoda.net/forums/subscriptions/
  32. Personally I always use Valeo blades as I've found them to almost always be very quiet. OTOH, could the noise be coming from the wiper motor itself? In which case, dribbling a little thin oil down the shaft might help, or else the motor needs changing. Over the years, I've had a number of faulty VAG motors and had to replace them - but I would advise avoiding replacements from GSF as I had 2 replacements in a row from them before they finally refunded my money, and I then bought a replacement from ECP which didn't give any trouble! PS: In any case, you do have to make sure that the screen is VERY clean as any traces of dirt or grease can result in noisy wiping.
  33. @lol-lolmy phone, google, waze etc understands what i ask. The car listens and then gives me a choice of locations usually in Germany.
  34. I can not get the MINI to understand what i am asking the Sat Nav so i ask the Phone on Waze to direct me. When i input into the MINI,s inbuilt Sat Nav it is absolutely hopeless. The 'i'drive works and the buttons around it work fine for what i need. ........... The synthetic fuels need a lot of Electricity & fuels can be produced from crops. but people are starving or produce it from waste products from crops and human ^ animal waste. Using waste like Electricity that can be generated and needs stored to produce hydrogen is simple. Using carbon from production like making drinks or industrial products to then produce hydrogen to use in manufacturing is simply clever as well and happens. Paying for Fuel / Electricity is 'Tax per mile' if there is Duty / VAT on it, and if you want to pay less per mile then have a more efficient vehicle. Tax the vehicles for days on the road be them driving or parked, that happens now. Tax by length & weight of them, driving / parked.
  35. Personally i can not be doing with them. I do not always want my phone with me & when in the car i am hopeless using my left hand to use touch screens. Horses for courses and it is good there are choices within EV,s just as there are with ICE vehicles. There are going to be a very large number of used TESLA available just as there will be with other manufacturers vehicles. I am even crap driving and stretching a finger far left to get a button when driving a right hand drive car that has the various stuff to suit a left hand drive car other then the steering wheel moved to the other side. Lane keep assist has saved me a few times for crashing, burning or just kerbing a wheel. I do not have that anymore but then i do not need to use a touch screen either when driving my daily.
  36. Also picking up from Southampton, bypassing the dealer and saving many hundreds of pounds. Light years ahead of other car sellers.
  37. Used massively by the Irish Garda as response cars. Seen a few of them in England too. Head room is reduced and it’s a bit tighter in the cabin, but on the whole they are decent for an armoured vehicle.
  38. I’m no expert, more cynical towards Skoda’s change to a lower viscosity oil. They’ve proven time and time again that their priority is reducing servicing costs for their own benefit, not maximising engine and turbo longevity for owners like me that run their vehicles well out of warranty. 5W30 has served me well over my time. It’s unlikely 0W20 will make that much of a difference to durability but I’m not convinced it’s worth the change. Either way I’d ensure you stick to the VAG approved oils.
  39. Software was "rolled back" to the version it left the factory with, the one that cheated the emissions test, my car like most yours included had had the software updated to the "emissions fix" one by the servicing dealer and it was that which made the cars drive poorly, choke up the EGR valves and DPF's and do these constant regens. It cost a significant amount to have done but was worth every penny.
  40. Thanks all. Picture and FS III cast into caliper confirms smaller disc. I'm of an age where I started out on MK2 Cortinas, and if you had a question, then you could only call on who you knew. Now the network is a little bigger!
  41. I'm open to correction but I think that port supplies 1.2A. If so, that's your issue, the port cant supply enough. I've Garmin Dash Cams plugged in and it works.
  42. Ultimate Components on E-Bay. £150 next day delivery. That was for the LED version that will cost you £100+ for S/H crap on e-bay

  45. Auto lights on (dipped beam) remains on once activated. Auto main beam doesn’t.
  46. Issue could be in the washer fluid you are using. Some of the fluids are not conductive enough so the sensor doesn't know when the fluid is low. This was the case with my car. Try to put in a liter or two of tap water then run it all through. If you get the warning sign, then the issue is in the liquid. If not, then the sensor might be defective.
  47. @varooom all good! Thank you again!
  48. To tell you the truth, reading car forums is a bit distracting me from this f*cking war
