  1. Turns out, if you ignore a failing slave cylinder, it'll **** itself. Big time. *Flashback* T'is the night before Christmas, and all through the village not a creature was stirring, except for me, whose Vectra had disgraced itself outside of the workplace, leaving me with no clutch, and having to call for a lift home... Story time aside, I eventually limped this to my trusted garage, who have had it since the day after Boxing Day, and it's still there now. Awaiting an un-lubed financial shafting for the work to be carried out, but I just wish they'd hurry up and I'd have my motor back. Coming in clutch (lol) however, was this little delight, which is back to being my daily again!
  2. A completely unnecessary and expensive upgrade, but these seats are oh so lovely and comfortable. I bought them secondhand but they look barely used, does that make them a bargain?

Lonely forum for me..... Anyways found a source for MIB firmware updates - follow Mr Fix on Youtube Used an ODB scanner and found an error code B127013 - Impedance Converter for DAB radio 1 - Open circuit. Removed tailgate trim to locate DAB antenna amplifier. Replaced unit 5E5035577B from breaker on eBay - managed to find a brand new genuine part for £25. All fixed now. Relatively easy - once your confident in removing trim (don't be scared of the clicks or worry about break the trim itself).
  4. I'm loving how it looks, and it goes quite well too!
  5. It was a nickname that I gave to our Ken while the original was still alive, I had forgotten that our one had changed his username, in fact it was you who told me, he will always be Ken Block to me all the time he continues taking pleasure from publicly blocking people then reinstating them so he can do it again. I realise now that my post will have made even less sense given the change of username.
  6. The first day of the year, a working day like any other for me, I was talking to myself in my mind as I do when working and pondered I bet we don't make it to the end of January before the incarnation of the late Ken Block has publicly blocked another contributor, looks like it may not even take 24 hours!
  7. Fine chaps Happy New year and thanks for the help guys ! Special thanks to Colin and the Admins for putting up with t#### who write click bait titles 😆
  8. Just got my insurance renewal through from Privilege and despite having full protected NCB or 9+ years & admittedly one accident claim + two windscreens (stones/cracks) they hiked the premium from £452 to £1,118! So I used Martin Lewis' website and went through there and with the above, and got Full legal, guaranteed hire car, windscreen cover, foreign use etc, I got a quote from Aviva (with a £300 XS) of £568. A Whopping 65.25% saving by NOT auto renewing! 😲 So shop around.
  9. And none of those checks other than tyres and oil level would be the cause of "car making a noise" anyway.
  10. Worth every penny. Taken you everywhere and more besides
  11. You made an Autocar article Ryan so I would say it’s a collectors car, 19th page. It’s a Vectra nuff said. https://www.msn.com/en-gb/cars/reviews/top-used-cars-for-less-than-10-000/ss-AA1dlccY?ocid=NL_ENGB_A1_00010101_1_1&cvid=21d3803f439d4d179a55206cd094b77c&ei=34#image=19
  12. If everything in life was as reliable as a Skoda, when it’s running ok 😂
  13. Two very long bays for charging vehicle and trailer combos at Salmon's leap South Devon, just off the A38 trunk road......... Got to be best part of 15m long ie 50ft in old money.
  14. Likewise, well except that the Rover P6 was an Opel Ascona 1.9 SR Berlina.
  15. I have no idea from listening to that, but it does not sound to me like it is running on 3 cylinders.
  16. @Bluechildso you want used leather ones and just want to know what will fit on the standard runners. Someone will be along hopefully then that knows,
  17. But you are not the cheapest, when ever I have had quotes in the past you have been been about 100% dearer than any other
  18. here is a link it got serviced in may last
  19. A total faff and you have to be keen if you are going to spend more towing with an EV or just running an EV than running an ICE. But then people have them for what ever reason, usually because of the savings to them in tax and it being a vehicle for work, or the charging can be cheap lots of the times and then subsidised at others. Those doing it will know why they do it. As it is there are many that can not reverse a caravan , trailer / transporter and end up uncoupling anyway. With a small caravan it really is no hassle, but then the locking and securing the van is a faff.
  20. What a faff, all of that uncoupling and recoupling again and again each time. When I used to have a caravan, I used to hitch upto my Rover 2000 TC and only uncouple when I arrived at the caravan park, even when filling the tanks. It was a just a couple of minutes to pull up at a pump, refuel, and be on my way in just minutes with minimal inconvenience to others by blocking 1 pump only. I couldn't image what chore that would be uncoupling etc each time if the weather was bad or even at night.
  21. Cheap and easy fix, fortunately. Your red/green wire may possibly go to a different position (No. 4, I think) than in the video, but hopefully you'll see the same crack problem at its location. Halfords have a selection kit that includes the correct 40 Amp one: https://www.halfords.com/motoring/tools/fuses-electricals-and-fixings/fuses/halfords-assorted-oto-strip-fuses-30>60-amp-fuse133-705310.html
  22. @J.R.do you mean a incarnation of@KenONeill? Ken Block did sadly die. What a shame there will be no new ones of these, maybe a few are at sea and on their way to the UK or already here.
  23. Very easy when you know how, with the light switch in the off position push the knob in and turn clockwise, it then pulls out.
  24. Well those are type of VLOG that I follow mainly because there are so many disbelievers who think that VLOGers are only doing it for views and are clickbaiters. Many do it to get the truth out because the MSM is biased and often censored.
  25. ^^^ There is a thread on towing and that and other vids are in there. There are people towing with caravans and getting half the range. I meet a couple of Tesla Drivers that tow their vans and it is at their 2nd public charging i meet them. The have the 2 charging sessions with one at 35 pence a kWh then the next free and the 3rd one is 55 pence kWh. They have no issues doing it other than where i meet them they sometimes have to unhook the caravan to charge. Truth of the matter and you are in a hurry, someone is ill, on their death bed and you need to get their quick and it is twice the distance of the range of the car or maybe more or less the range of the car on a gentle run, then you are going to go with an ICE vehicle and forget the drinks and snacks and sitting / standing waiting, worrying at EV chargers. Osprey really is quite expensive. Bl00dy expensive really when you look at the cost per mile you get from the energy bought.
  26. I subscribe to what @Thefeliciahackersays. This section of the forum has been poisoned by an individual who is aggressive, stubborn in his lack of knowledge, very frustrated by critical opinions, vengeful, rude, and definitely insecure. Every now and then he invents a new topic to address his doubts about unimportant things or to show off with cheap, pathetic parts he is using to "tune" his unhappy car, although he has no clue whatsoever about the financial consequences and lack of security he will have to pay from his own very poor pockets. My suggestion is to let him talk to the walls, because anyone who makes the mistake to take him seriously and reply to his ignorant calls will be attacked by a rabid rhetoric. No moderator will stop him embarrassing himself. Andreas, give him enough rope to hang himself because he has zero credibility. Although you are younger, you have a more balanced way to see technical things. Do not let yourself poisoned by an amateur in great need of a psychiatric evaluation and anger management classes.
  27. I see Skoda have started teasing the Octavia facelift on YouTube. According to this the official unveiling will be in February. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XAoJEL7hWas

I drove in a low gear, 2nd and 3rd, for a good run (around 55 miles) and kept accelerating and braking due to the nature of the road...A590, Cumbria, UK. I also managed to hold a steady rom when I took the car between j36 and 37 on the M6...in 3rd. At a standstill, the rpm stops at 3k. As for feeling sick, it's bloody awful! Must add there is no map other than standard on the car
  29. No certainty, but look under the engine bay and see if there's a loose undertray or cable tray that's flapping in the slipstream. The last time I had anything like this a local garage fixed it for £5 in their coffee swindle.

The Kamiq is not that high off the ground, most jacks would be high enough. Failing that a small piece of wood under the jack will give you bit of extra height. I bought a small trolley Jack to change summer / winter wheels (first time I did it using emergency jack), but decided not to spend lot extra on a high lift version, instead just keep an off cut piece of kitchen worktop in my garage, which I put under the jack, It also allows the Jack to roll as it lifts as my drive is block paving, otherwise it stops on grooved joints between blocks.
  31. It could be either software or a hardware problem with the SOS OCU, no way to tell unless you look at the faults, however if the vehicle is in warranty I'd just take it in for them to do it at the dealer
  32. Is that the famous Rufford Ford, as seen on many Youtube vids?
  33. Fit a relay in series with the feed wire to it, with relay coil powered by an ignition switched 12V.
  34. @Bap33thank you for this, really detailed and very easy to follow! I had a 24mm socket that has a 22mm hex end on it, which allowed a 22mm ring spanner to slacken the filter housing enough to undo it by hand, without needing to take out the battery. Doing it in winter, even keeping the oil in the house before putting it in the car, it took about an hour to get the oil up to temperature. Not a job to do if you're in a hurry. I refitted the old drain bolt and crush washer to do the warm up and after the levelling draining was done, fitted to the new bolt/washer so the new washer was only being crushed once.

Have done the 'italian' tune up and held the car at 4500rpm for 15 minutes. No smoke at all and when I floored the pedal, it accelerated until it hit the limiter. It's been like this for the past few months but the MoT is due in 6 weeks, so now to sort it! Dpf is nice and clean, removed to do so, yet still the same (with or without a dpf...I tried). The site only let's me upload 10mb and the smallest I can get the video to is 17.4 or I'd post it
  36. Floating brake discs, i wrote it wrong. Every 10.000 Km the front go back and after 10.000 Km the same, that's a common practise here although i do it sooner. Some years i haven't the chance to go to Mountain Roads so i don't push them hard, so there is no a ''stable'' programme. There are no many options in 175/60/14, Toyo are very good and thank God still exist, here is an example. https://www.skroutz.gr/c/578/lastixa-autokinitou/f/1583648/175-60R14.html?o=175%2F60%2F14
  37. It is OK to keep coasting if you have control of the car, it is doing it because no load in the engine, you might want to accelerate round a bend, you can change gear manually if you want, drop a gear and not touch the brakes, have drive by touching the accelerator pedal. I have only a left foot and drive with it on the accelerator and hardly ever touch the brake pedal. I like coasting function with a DSG and any Auto,s with it and in EV,s. But the MINI electric i drive now can not fully coast, regening / recuperation even in the low setting slows it down.
  38. I thought that you were sticking your neck out saying that at the time but credit where it is due 👍 I am surprised it would start and run with 2 out of 3 cylinders that low.
  39. I usually shop around and get a cheaper quote, and then go back to the original insurer and tell them I have got a cheaper price and 9 times out of 10 they match the lower quote
  40. Rishi was asked in parliament about the different levels of vat for domestic and public chargers, by one of his own MPs, and he did not even asked the question the spineless toad. A disgrace. Invent a new vat rate. Now we are not in the EU we can do what we like. Down to 10% would be a start for public charging. Tesla will destroy most competition soon probably. Maybe 20% vat on gas or a carbon tax.
  41. No doubts there, that's an easy fit.
  42. 38 should be fine. I have 20mm spacers in the back taking my stock et44 to 24.
  43. Sorry - just catching up on this. The label in the engine bay says VW 504 / 507 0W-30 so that's what I used. It had a full oil change at a service a couple of months later but I didn't check what they used. Hopefully the right stuff! The stuff I put in was just 1L as a top up as the level was low.
  44. One thing we are missing from this thread is a full scan of the car. It feels like the mechanic is just replacing bits here...without doing a big picture review.
  45. Yep, mine was sometimes ns, sometimes os, usually both though. Doesn't help that there are loads of speed bumps where I live. I bought direct from Powerflex here. Be careful to get the right size. I use Catcar which suggests there are two for the Toledo: 19mm ARB and 17mm bushes for the 5 speed cars, and 20mm ARB / 18mm bushes for the 6 speed. My car is the 1.2tsi CBZB with the 6-speed gearbox, and has 18mm bushes. The Powerflex site does recommend measuring the diameter of your ARB - mine is 20mm. However, weirdly they only list one size for the Toledo whereas I think there should be two as above. Maybe give them a ring if you're in any doubt. Hope this helps to sort your issue!
  46. I don't mind a drink, and it seems my car doesn't either - I'm not partial to brake fluid though... I've just kept topping it up, but 500ml in less than three weeks is a bit startling. Took it to be diagnosed. "Clutch slave cylinder mate, and I'd be doing the clutch while I'm in there too" Well, okay then. HOWEVER, Genuine GM clutch kit incl. slave cylinder? £106.38. You dancer. Parts aren't too bad to get for this, somehow easier than the Skoda! Got a pair of rear shock absorbers from EuroCarParts for £9.19 a side (the originals sound like an accordion falling down a flight of stairs) so that'll be sorted too. Beyond that, it's running well, 31k miles now. Anyone who has me on Facebook will know the welding has been done as well, and to a high standard. Very happy with this car, despite a few "quirks".
  47. I wish a Golf R's engine with 320bhp and 4 wheel drive. A 55 L fuel tank, sturdier seats and quicker infotainment system or system in general.
  48. one of POIs in my 4313 km trip around Czech Republic 10Mb limit reached and BS forum's engine doesn't accept links from Google Drive 😞 like https://drive.google.com/file/d/1qC6SnfW4DCWFiwdvi5K_N7eSACqjBPj6/view
