  1. Zero chance if you don't get Skoda to do the MOT. Rust on the edges of brake discs doesn't matter.
  2. boot big enough to put a car in ;o)
  3. This highlights the problems of charging infrastructure capacity not keeping up with demand, and high costs per kWh of public rapid (whatever the correct term is) charging points. For most ICE drivers to consider the change to EV the speed and ease of "refilling" needs to be (near) identical.
  4. Just imagine what it is like for those not near London with a choice of places within 33 miles, like on a Northern or Western island or just rural areas where they think electrified cars are an economic means of transport.
  5. Yesterday I finally bought the replacement for my Elegance. I've had it since 2014 and other than a failed EGR unit just after I bought it that was replaced under the approved used warranty and a broken rear spring a few years ago it's not given me any aggro at all and has been a great car to own. I travelled down to the South Coast yesterday and put the deposit down on an Approved Used January 2022 petrol Octavia vRS hatch in Race Blue which I'll be going down to collect in a couple of weeks. So I'll be giving the Superb a final clean and tidy out ready to sell it on in the coming weeks. The old...... And the new.....
  6. Mine was doing this then it eventually stopped working. I removed it and took off the plastic cover to find it full of rust and gunge. I cleaned it all up with WD40, freed the seized parts, regreased it and fitted it back on the car, works an absolute treat, took about an hour. There are vids on you tube on how to remove the motor and if I can do it then anyone can

    ORDERED!! Thank you !
  8. In my experience the dealers are creating work for themselves. Get a second opinion from an alternative garage (preferably one that does MOT testing so they know what is acceptable). My dealer wanted to a) replace the aircon pump (too noisy) - aircon specialist said 'rubbish' and just ensured the freon mix had the correct amount of oil it b) replace the covers over the top of the rear shock absorbers - I ignored them and no other garage afterwards suggested it was a problem. Your dealer is just trying to keep his workshop full.
  9. I believe EuroNCAP are mandating physical buttons for certain features if you want a 5 star rating…. I’m all for hiding config option etc away, but disabling auto steering/lane following, wiper speed, cabin temperatures etc should not need someone to take their eyes off the road.

That's why they've 'invented' the microfiber screen cleaner, presented as a 'simply clever' solution.😁
  11. Auto Express No 1,823 Special Issue has some details of a forthcoming small Skoda electric SUV, suggesting it brings back the spirit of the Yeti - actually a little shorter yet with a bigger boot. It will cost around £22,000, presumably base model, and they say it will be available next year. I've got to say that I find the current Kamiq if OK, a bit ordinary and unadventurous to look at, so as far as I'm concerned, it's nice that the artists impression of the Epiq indicates an attractive, interesting & modern appearance, both inside and out (not too keen on the 'thin grill though but back looks good). Here's hoping this Epiq has a more compliant quieter ride than the Yeti. In the meantime in around 6 months, a smaller version of the Enyaq, the Elroq, will be introduced (EV equivalent of the Karoq maybe), but no pics in AE. It's a pity there's no talk of hybrid versions that could use the same electric transmission rather than old style mechanical DSG etc. - rather in the manner of the original BMW EV with range extender. Not having a drive, as is so for a considerable proportion of the population, I'd be more or less dependant on public charging points.
  12. Hello everyone, I decided to create a topic about canton amplifier 3G035466. There is similar topic on Octavia forum but there is a 3Q0035466A amp. Speaking of speaker ratings for the Canton system in the Superb...... Some photos attached. So, there is 3x TDA7803A nad 2x FDA802. TDA7803A is a quad channel amplifier capable of deliver – 4 x 27 W 4 Ω @ 14.4 V, 1 kHz, THD = 10% – 4 x 47 W 2 Ω @ 14.4 V, 1 kHz, THD = 10% FDA802 is a dual channel class-D amplifier capable of deliver– 2 x 120 W /4 Ω @ 35 V, 1 kHz THD = 1% (2 x150 W /4 Ω @ 35 V, 1 kHz THD =10%) – 2 x 140 W /8 Ω @ 50 V, 1 kHz THD = 1% (2 x180 W /8 Ω @ 50 V, 1 kHz THD =10%) Link for datasheets: https://www.st.com/resource/en/datasheet/tda7803a.pdf https://www.st.com/resource/en/data_brief/fda802.pdf FDA802 is capable of driving 4 Ω speakers but on 35V. I cannot find any full datasheet so no characteristics is available. But judging by the main capacitors voltage (63V) probably it is powered from 50V so 4 Ω speakers might be an issue. I will test that soon. So info from a Skoda brochure should be quite precise. 610W is and RMS power.
  13. Oh yes indeed. This was also performed exactly like you mentioned and yes the voltage dropped below 7v!!! Around 6,7v. I tried to charge the battery over night but still no improvement.

  16. Here's a couple of 15" steel rim options for the Scala. Neither are Skoda approved. Alcar 7760 6Jx15 ET38 5/100 57.1 steel rim (from Fabia MK3 and Rapid) https://www.mytyres.co.uk/rims/details?vehicleId=799668759568299108&rimCode=ALCAR7760 Skoda wheel trims for 6Jx15 ET38 5/100 57.1 steel rims (from Fabia MK3 and Rapid) https://eshop.skoda-auto.cz/en_CZ/full-wheel-covers/c/fullWheelCovers?q=%3ApriceAsc%3AcarType%3AFabia%2BIII%2B%282014%2B%29%3AcarType%3ARapid%2B%282012-2020%29%3ArimDiameter%3A15&text=# Another option could be the 5.5Jx15 ET40 5/100 57.1 steel rims from the Fabia MK4, as shown below. 5.5J is quite a narrow rim for the 205/60R15 tyre size, but the Karoq 4x4 lists a 225/60R16 fitted to a 6J rim which is a similar fit. The car would ride more like a Rolls Royce than a Ferrari on such relatively narrow rims. Alcar 4055 5.5Jx15 ET40 5/100 57.1 steel rim (from Fabia MK4) https://www.mytyres.co.uk/rims/details?vehicleId=1360399348768339044&rimCode=ALCAR4055 Skoda wheel trim for 5.5Jx15 ET40 5/100 57.1 steel rim (from Fabia MK4) https://eshop.skoda-auto.cz/en_CZ/hub-covers-calisto-15/p/6VA071455 As you can see in the ETRTO chart below, a 205/60 can be fitted to a rim width between 5.5" and 7.5", with a 6" rim width being considered the standard rim width for this tyre size...hence highlighted in bold. When determining the range of rim widths that a tyre can be fitted to it's not necessary to consider the rim diameter, just the tyre's "nominal" width and aspect ratio. ETRTO approved rim widths for passenger car tyres 195/65 5.5-6.0-7.0 195/60 5.5-6.0-7.0 205/60 5.5-6.0-7.5 205/55 5.5-6.5-7.5 205/50 5.5-6.5-7.5 205/45 6.5-7.0-7.5
  17. @Graham Butcher I just do not expect him to be talking mince. He is another one like the MacMaster, stuff is for the banter. They deliver the Vans / Minibuses on transporters quite often because the range is so poor. As for the delivery drivers i spent 1 hour with one taking a MINI from Aberdeen to London and even paid for his charge in Forfar by using my account. He was in Aberdeen delivering a Tesla and was taking one back & then was landed with a MINI electric. I felt sorry for him.
  18. Geez, you guys are such harsh critics, do you not understand that this is NOT his own car, nor is it one that he has any access to normally, he is just a driver who gets to pick up a car from a dealer and drive it to the new customer where ever. They often just get told to report to a dealer at X location, and they will have a vehicle that needs to driven to Y location, and they might not even know what the vehicle is until they get to X and handed the keys by the dealer. When would he have had the opportunity to do any research on the car and its settings, or plan his route to take in the best chargers, etc. He was using an app which showed him where the chargers were supposed to be, some were, some weren't. Where there was plenty, as he clearly showed, they were all busy, and he had to use whatever was available and also wait in a queue. Likewise, he would not have known anything about what size of battery pack the car had, or even if it had an onboard charger etc. He could have been picking up any type of vehicle, even a Hydrogen powered one and he just has to get on with the job of driving from X to Y and take off the trade plates, tuck them under his arm and find a way back home again, thats it. You guys have had your respective electric cars for a while, and you also researched them before getting them, you were/are in a privileged position compared to these people who are not given the time to swot up on their vehicles. 😠
  19. I've been checking voltages under different loads. After an 18 hr overnight rest = 12.6v. 6 mile drive ign. off 12.92v. Dipped h/l, 12.46v & cd player 12.29v. At tickover with all equipment on 14.6v. Just cd player 12.96v....off 12.85v. I have been reproducing similar numbers all week. I have noticed that if I hear bongs I can expect the cd-player to misbehave, otherwise I know it will play for 2 hours, which is all I want. I think the alternator is fine............ Skoda-man in Bournemouth thinks the alternator is playing up intermittently & has suggested a new supplied & fitted specimin could cost up to £500. I saw this horse long before it left the stables & my answer is NO. I have not seen one suspect voltage & I will keep the alternator as fitted. The problem lies elsewhere.
  20. or he could have stuck it on the back of a diesel lorry........................
  21. Have It in eco for part of the journey chillout at around 65 mph, can use kickdown even in eco, get to 90 mph in around 5 seconds, do your overtake then settle back to cruising. There is a new hub round Chipenham, half a dozen ionity chargers and a nice cafe, don't stop at leigh dmD until it is upgraded in a few months time, dozens of chargers around Cribbs causeway Bristol. Fail to prepare then prepare to fail.
  22. Just check DC volts across the battery before and after starting the engine, you should get 12.7V from a healthy battery before starting the engine and something around 14.4V with the engine running. To check rectification test for the presence of any AC voltage when running. Post results here.
  23. Kopacek sell them.

It looks a little tame for an angry Badger. We had one in our garden how it got in I know not but it decided to leave and dug a hole under my fence into next door. Next door was different a half wall with a three foot panel, baffled it went for their side gate a six foot panel. With a noise like kids on larger kicking a fence, it tore it apart it took no time and off it went to continue its journey. PS looking again I agree Badger seeing a rivals reflection, I had a problem with a pair of crows they pecked the mirror till it cracked and then the rubbers around the passenger window.
  26. at a Guess I would say a Skoda Octavia Mk 4 iV (rather than the one in his profile details) ;o)
  27. Find another dealer. And.... VAG OE discs and pads aren't much cop, either.
  28. I checked it whilst I was there. It's on 1941 but sat-nav maps are from 2022 so have asked for them to be updated to latest version....November 2023 I believe. It'll also be having it's Approved Used multi-point checks done before i collect too so anything else should be picked up then.
  29. Welcome aboard! Hoping you enjoy your new (to you) motor. if you haven’t already, it’d be worth asking the dealer to ensure all s/ware updates available for it are applied.
  30. Right, definitely something up with the ABS. Time to get a diagnostic scan done on the control module to see what's going on.
  31. Yes, I've got a 1.5 and always have to top up the oil between services. I use "TRIPLE QX SynPlus Engine Oil 0W-20 VAG 508/509 - 1Ltr" and even put it in the car if it's been a while since topping up and I'm doing a long journey.
  32. Thanks. It's in with the main dealer now...just holding our breath for a diagnosis
  33. So it's possibly a DQ250 requiring 40k service intervals. If that was the first service then it may well have been taken too far. If first service for DQ381 then a little early but as @Rooted suggests, that may not matter as problems can occur early. I'd be getting it to either the place that did the service or a gearbox specialist before it gets worse. At the very least start the conversation as to what the cause might be. Us lot on the internet can be knowledgeable but this sounds like an expert is needed.
  34. Well hopefully the road signs told him that...
  35. Very normal if you do not check a cars oil level after a service to know where it is when cold or when it should be checked at normal operating temperature. Then never check again and top up as required Especially with 1.5 TSI ACT,s. Read the Owners Manual.
  36. Your satnav is a navigation device, it's not there to display everything you want or may find on a map. Provided it gets you to your destination it's doing what it's meant to do.
  37. Check your battery first!
  38. I then fitted the fronts, which was an easy process overall. I undid the brake fluid reservoir and used a caliper tool to push the piston back in. On the drive home, I broke gently for the first 4-5 times then built up to 60-40mph and 70-30mph braking to bed the pads in. They feel sharper than they did before and overly happy with how they feel. The car is also going on for an Inspection 2 and brake fluid change when it has its MOT. Hopefully they don't fail it on the rear discs. Bottom ball joints are still on the list, but I have insurance soon and thinking I'm going to be stung more so than other years.
  39. Here are the four 6Jx16 ET38 5/100 57.1 alloy rims shown in the "Skoda alloy rim accessory catalogue" for the Scala. These are approved by Skoda for use with 205/55R16 when fitted to the Scala. These are approved by Skoda for use with 195/60R16 and snow chains when fitted to the Scala. In the UK (car insurance permitting), you could probably also use these ET35 offset rims with 205/55R16, but that tyre size is not approved by Skoda for use with the ET35 offset. However, to be sure what wheel specifications Skoda has approved for your car it's always worth checking your car's CoC (Certificate of Conformity) because all Skoda approved wheel specifications for your car are listed in that document. The 6Jx16 ET40 5/100 57.1 steel rim is approved by Skoda for 205/55R16, and the 6Jx16 ET35 5/100 57.1 steel rim is approved by Skoda for 195/60R16 and snow chains. As you will notice by the 7.3kg and 7.43kg weights of these two steel rims, they weigh quite a bit less than the similar sized alloy rims that Skoda sell for the Scala. Notice that the Scala uses an ET40 offset for its steel rim, instead of the ET38 offset that it uses for its alloy rims. However, the Scala uses the same ET35 offset for both its steel rim and its alloy rims. 40. You do not need to search. You just needed to watch one i linked or others did. Oliver Dowden and Iain Duncan Smith and David Camerons former friends know what you are doing. (I am glad the Chinese are watching them, someone needs to.)
  41. I wouldn't have an EV or Hybrid (Inbred as someone I know calls them) for the simple reason they're a pain in the backside when things go wrong with them and they need specialist attention compared to ICE powered vehicles. You have my sympathy for your predicament and I would consider taking it to another EV capable independent retailer, biting the financial burden and then sell it.
  42. I wonder if they're struggling to find folk who want to be trained up? Hope the repair is accomplished quickly for you, and well done for sidestepping the various obstacles to getting it seen promptly.
  43. The water pump on the 1.4 TSI is that the opposite side of the engine from the timing belt so no, they wouldn't have replaced the belt while they were doing your water pump.
  44. That is my next car MC red velvet 1.5 DSG , build week 12 Feb with delivery on 18 March .I can wait and first thing new sound system and all doors sound deadening .
  45. Not for the garage, its a real money earner! You are feeling depressed and suicidal, we need to run a diagnostic, it will cost £135 refunded if a fault is found. Sorry no fault found and the manufacturer will not contribute, you can't have your money back. About as ridiculous a scenario as booking a car in for a diagnostic on suspension. I love the way the garages try to abdicate their responsibility under consumer law by giving a warranty (actually paid for by the mug punter) which simply brings in money for unnecessary diagnostic checks and leaves the customer blaming the warranty company, and how the pigeons swallow it. 😒
  46. The Front Lower Suspension arm pin or bush on my daighter's Fabia II were mentioned in an advisory as worn but not causing excessive movement. It seems to be only the rear bush on the right so far. How much of a pain are they to change? Using the briskoda search did not come up with many results.
  47. Does the car have to have the tracking done afterwards?
  48. I would change both sides, as the other might soon go also. It might be better to replace the lower steel wishbones as well, as these can rust through from the inside. This also means that the front and rear bushes are already fitted into the wishbone. You can see in the chart below that item number 2 varies depending whether the Fabia MK2 has build code G01/G07 or not. It probably doesn't as the other build codes are far more numerous, ie. build codes G02/G03/G04/G38/G39/G40/G41. 1 6R0 407 151 track control arm, complete D >> - 28.06.2010 left 1 PR-G02/G03/ G04/G38/G39/ G40/G41 (1) 6R0 407 151 E track control arm, complete D - 29.06.2010>> left 1 PR-G02/G03/ G04/G38/G39/ G40/G41 (1) 6R0 407 152 track control arm, complete D >> - 28.06.2010 right 1 PR-G02/G03/ G04/G38/G39/ G40/G41 (1) 6R0 407 152 E track control arm, complete D - 29.06.2010>> right 1 PR-G02/G03/ G04/G38/G39/ G40/G41 (1) 6R0 407 151 D track control arm, complete left 1 PR-G01/G07 (1) 6R0 407 152 D track control arm, complete right 1 PR-G01/G07 2 1J0 407 181 bonded rubber bush rear 2 PR-G02/G03/ G04/G38/G39/ G40/G41 (2) 6R0 407 181 B bonded rubber bush 1 PR-G01,G07 3 357 407 182 bonded rubber bush front 2 https://skoda.7zap.com/en/cz/fabia/fab/2014-697/4/407-407010/#1 Left wishbone G02/G03/G04/G38/G39/G40/G41 https://www.autodoc.co.uk/topran/8210327 Right wishbone G02/G03/G04/G38/G39/G40/G41 https://www.autodoc.co.uk/topran/8210331
