  1. Better. There was a stat in there, old below new. Oil and filter change tomorrow, if I get a chance. Fuel filter to follow once I've got a bit of diesel in a can to pre-fill it.

It's no different to many other cars from various manufacturers so no, not particularly pathetic IMO
  3. Interesting that most people here seem to be using Canon kit... I've always had Nikon for years but I guess thats always been the split . Your either one or the other.
  4. They do now. I've shots somewhere of Elmo's Starlinks interfering with my pics. A growing problem with astrophotography is satellites photo bombing shots where the shutter is open for so long to capture deep space stuff This is a screenshot of what can be achieved with the lens I have. It's a labourious process that involves many hours of open shutter and processing. I have a long way to go.
  5. Generally people will stick with whatever make of kit they started off with, as generally bits of kit are not truly interchangeable and the glass or lens tends to the piece of gear that sets the bar for cameras body, IMV at least.
  6. I only got into DSLR stuff last year with a bargain Canon 250D. That led me into astrophotography so I bought the Samyang F2 135mm as it was highly recommended. And then the Skywatcher auto tracking mount. And the dew heater, and the power units and the mini PC and..... Rabbit hole I know it might not look much but this is my current setup sans mini PC and PSU
  7. I often look at Panamoz and their prices are tremendous R5i with adapter ring £2230 and R3 £3540 all new and 3 year warranty. Shame they don't do the lenses I like. But to be fair, I do like to support privately owned shops like Harrisons if I can., They offer a great service in these internet dominated times. There is something to taking your own camera and plugging on a potential lens purchase and running around the store like a loon, taking photos of people who really would prefer you left them alone.

I seem to recall that an electronic child lock button may have been an option on some models - the Superb and Kodiaq I believe - but they're not standard fit.

Comments like the above with or without the swearing abbreviations are worthy of being labelled pathetic. A stranger on the internet has helped them find the solution to what is an important problem to them and that is the thanks they get
  10. Weather was quite OK in Berlin last week, it had been freakishly warm day before I arrived ie 32C and then dropped to 16C for most of the week, I gather its back up to over 25C as the Autumnal Equinox comes up this week. In Switzerland they were getting early snow and in the last few days there has been massive flooding in CS and SK which has impact Skoda operations in those countries. Hottest summers on record, sea water temps several degrees above normal picking up 200 ft yachts and smashing them to pieces on water spouts. Nothing going here, continue as normal burning stuff. 11. Blimey, do the Russians know you have the tech to track their orbitals?!
  12. Couple I took with my camera today. The lighthouse (off Seaton Sluice) is undergoing renovation. I wonder what the yellow ship lifts? The RAF A400 was circling Newcastle earlier this afternoon.
  13. So... a little bit of a tale (please skip to the end if you are short of nibbles and tea). In the summer I tore a rotator cuff, this led me to cancel off quite a bit of work. When I did resume employment (I'm self-employed), I figured as I'm somebody who doesn't do things half-heartedly, I might as well have a second go and totally bugger up my shoulder and tear the cuff further. Mission accomplished, I then cancelled loads more work. This has led me to being a bit skint Anyhoo, this time off has led me to looking at used camera gear and in particular, Wex was selling off loads of Canon 300mm F2.8 II's - presumably ex rental stock - a lens that is now discontinued owing to the RF range of lenses coming out (boy they are expensive). They were going for a decent price and although some were a little battered, they all came with a guarantee and a claim that they were all inspected. Unfortunately, I was a bit worried about cash flow, so missed the boat on that one, actually I also missed aquatic transport on the 400mm F2.8 and 400mm DO II 😞 Still with me? A short while ago I bought a Canon R6ii, a decent camera with phenomenal autofocus (although, don't get me started on the sensor read out speed being a real bind when doing fast tracking shots and using the mechanical shutter). This new purchase really made me regret missing out on those 300mm lenses, one that I have always coveted, especially as I've hired them before and it is by far the greatest bit of glass I have attached to my cameras. It's sharper than Jimmy Carr taking down a heckler! So it came as a slight surprise to find myself in a massive set of traffic jams travelling towards Sheffield this afternoon... ...and buying a used 300mm F2.8 ii from Harrisons in Sheffield. It's in superb condition, with only a tiny bit of paint missing off the tripod foot. The travel case for it looks like it was unwrapped from its protective film, only a matter of minutes before I got there. It is mint. If anyone lives near Sheffield and wants a used lens or camera, they have a great stock of the stuff and competitive prices too. I didn't have much interaction with the young saleslady, but she was very pleasant and as helpful as she could be. I don't think she is fully up to speed with all the numerous products Harrison's sell, but I doubt anyone could be. So the end of the story is, I spent money I don't really have, to grab one of the last really nice 300mms of its type left out there. I don't regret a penny of it and will now live on grass and rainwater for the next few months Its a shame I don't really have any projects I want to shoot left this year Still I don't care. I have my unicorn lens and it is so lovely, I'm going to name it Henry I think. I might never take it outside in case it gets dirty. I'm going off now to stare at it and talk to it in a sexy manner. I think I'm in love. Updated: now with sexy photos .
  14. Visited Seaton Delaval Hall today - apparently the elliptical spiral staircase is an architectural nightmare. All the more impressive they managed to actually construct it all those years ago I guess. Apparently it's self supporting and each landing stone weighs 1.5 ton! Lovely gardens too 🌻 https://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/visit/north-east/seaton-delaval-hall
  15. Fully expected to miss the Partial Eclipse, but woke up bang on 03:30!
  16. The price of a well spec'd Enyaq was not much different from EV6/Model Y back then. There was indeed waaaay too many options and must tick most of them to have good spec. Short tests have shown it doesn't actually matter that much. But I still think heat pump is worth having if you are worried about range over longer trips in winter. It will draw less power to maintain cabin temperature vs PTC heater. Keep in mind implementation varies HUGELY, I think Enyaq heating system is more like i3, no car from traditional manufacturers do heat scavenging like Tesla's back then. If mostly shorter local journey, don't need to look for heat pump car.
  17. Climate change is real. The jury might still be out on the causes but it's 100% happening.
  18. I win, I win, Yaaayyyyy!!! 😁 My life is that exciting I'm gonna celebrate my contrariness with a well deserved cuppa tea Glad you got it sorted 👍 Gaz

I'm just used to having a button in the Mondeo I was driving. Must have been an added luxury I suppose
  20. For anyone that has a similar issue… i had the clutch replaced on warranty. It was defective from factory.
  21. Hello, I got them from Skoda can’t remember the price exactly but I think it was around £30 for both sides I done a longer travel in my car on the motorway and much improved but can still notice the rear noise is more noticeable
  22. Had a strange noise on mine for two years, found it yesterday and now found this post. It's a press needed to change the bush only? I don't really want to replace the whole arm. Get a Delphi bush for about £30.
  23. @JR RS Surly a change in wall thickness would be noticeable? The added material is 20% wall thickness. It's on the inside wall of the tube so the difference would be about 14% additional stiffness. How stiffer does it have to be to make it noticeable? Looking at the numbers I suspect 14% isn't enough to make a huge difference unless you were really sensitive to it. So yes a thicker bar (24mm+) is needed.
  24. The wet clutch DQ250 in my 108000 mile TDI Touran was also silky smooth after 10 years too. I think the DSG suits diesels with their low down torque better than petrols especially when pulling away. Having had experience of both wet and dry versions I prefer the wet purely from the way it pulls away because the wet can slip the clutch, like a human would do, whereas the dry cannot as it would overheat. @rory I would agree about the edginess when pulling away. Your Tiguan had a wet version.
  25. Yes they can,but i believe you then have to buy centre caps and wheel nut covers?. I actually dont mind them as they are to be honest 🙂
  26. Such as public charging not as convenient as petrol stations? Ignoring the climate crisis and how EV is a stepping stone towards saving humanity?
  27. Whilst I hope you are now sorted thought I'd mention my experience with recurring tyre pressure alerts in a 2019 Mii. I had recurrent tyre pressure alerts which I eventually realised were as a consequence of a drink, or more likely several being spilled, leading to the reset button becoming gummed up. After much tyre pressure checking I cleaned up the button with switch cleaner and no further issues 🤞
  28. Clearly the Superb needs to be 4x4 variant. If front drove then the gold R bar won't fit.
  29. Lovely bit of kit, a mate hankers after the RF 100-300 2.8 version, he uses a Fuji.. Sometimes you just gotta get that gadget. Nifty fifty.. still in the box, Macro.. used once. Studio strobes.. as new. We won’t mention the R3.🤣 Better get on, got two pieces of plasterboard to put up, plasterboard gun on its way.🤣 I’m on Stovies for the rest of the year..
  30. Just drive one of the many millions of ICE vehicles that there will be available in the UK. Especially as you do not buy new cars. You have a 7 year old car now anyway. Maybe as good as cars come, or maybe by 2030 if wanting a car you can buy a pre Euro 7 ICE vehicle. It does look that Hybrids / electrified cars will be available to buy and first register for longer than just pure ICE cars.
  31. Actual image of me looking back at them
  32. I mostly buy new, as the gear gets used quite a bit (although not so much lately 😞 ). I have a 7Dii which replaced a 7D, but it has over 200,000 shutter actuations last time I checked (need to find the prog that can interrogate that, again - why Canon, do you make it so hard? ). It still mostly works and on a bright day the 1.6 crop factor is a boon with a lens like the 300mm. In fact with a 1.4TC on it, I get a 672mm F4 Prime lens!!! I had it serviced a few years ago by the Canon guys at a job I was working on, but since then it has developed a few issues with control rings and buttons. I also have a 5Diii which works perfectly and has somewhere around 100,000 actuations on it. The biggest difference between EF/S cameras and the latest R cameras, isn't really the sensor (unless you look at the high-end cameras), it's the autofocus, which is insane. I'm still figuring it out, but it is astonishing. ie Do you want focus to snap to left eye, or right, or would you prefer it locked to the eye closest to you. It actually works too.
  33. Now to be fair, I took this with a crappy phone and was holding a torch with flat batteries, in my mouth for a bit of fill lighting...I failed a little .
  34. Thanks for the reply, that's a relief! I can't say it doesn't bother me so I'll definitely try to put it back in it's place. 😄 Thanks again!
  35. Another sadly missed Yeti, although this one fell victim to the dreaded Pan Roof leak. Sorry the back drop isn't especially notable

  38. I think you're over thinking it... It makes little difference which direction the piggy pack fuses go as they are very simple things: Fitted in the 'wrong' direction, both the original and new device will pull current through the original fuse which 'could' cause it to pop. Given the current use and likely fuse rating for a dashcam, this is unlikely so either orientation is fine and both circuits are still protected I would rather have the piggy back holder held in at both ends (so an existing circuit) as it's the only mechanism to secure it in place. Cars are subjected to lots of bumps, jolts and vibrations so it feels a safer option to me.
  39. I'm very sorry that you have the inability to distinguish between car insurance claims data and compare it against "Titanic is unsinkable" outlandish claim. The data has flaws, but it doesn't completely invalidate it. Or even get discredited by calling it from corrupt source. I'm done here. You clearly have a bone to pick and anything that doesn't conform to your view is "corrupt" or "a narrative" or get called "rats" that get blindly lead away. Very mature.

Partslink24 says that your VIN should have 5Q0937084AG, which has been superseded by 5Q0937084AJ Z00 I don't know enough to tell you anything more.
  41. nah, they were just hangin around in Audimaindealerland. its over the bridge from BMW island.
  42. On my Fabia 1.2 2011 I fitted a 1mm washer between the door and the lower hinge's 2 bolts, then the door stops hanging down at the back edge, saw a video on yotube about it. 43. It doesn't. Plenty grunty enough as is, and I doubt the EGR and TB have ever been cleaned out, so only going to get better. Found out why it was sold just now. Reviewing paperwork handed over to me. Audi recalled it for an airbag thing (69r7) a month or so back. That was free, but the upselling included a quote of £471 for rear discs and pads, cambelt for a shade under 1k, and cheekiest ever - 'rear washer nozzle inop. Req investigation' 1 hour labour at £216. 😁 Nozzle off (30 seconds) soak in descaler, refit. At least that was my approach.
  44. There is a lock detent. So you should feel it rotates slightly easy in that but requires force, anti clockwise to get past that. Usually two hands or two hands with non slip gloves is more than enough..
  45. another shot for @gotthedropshow , some amazing metal on display.
  46. i said i'd try harder for you great award from @driverscollection
