I picked up my new Octavia Sportline in Royal Green a few weeks ago. I haven't yet seen another Skoda in this colour, not on the road or at a dealership. Has anyone else got one in this colour or seen another on the road yet?
  2. Not round here, the last time we had a 3 day power cut the fuel station was closed because neither the pumps or tills were operating. if you’ve got big weather coming it always pays to have your car, regardless of energy type, topped up.
  3. Keep the car, trade the wife🤣🤣🤣
  4. This is the lowest state of charge I have gone to. 3 miles showing, 5%. I stayed in Sport and there was no reduction in power of heating disabled. Warning at 16, then 12, 8 and at 4 the restricted range massage.
  5. Just came across this post, the last paragraph could also have been written as: “Incidentally, have you seen how many homes in Florida right now that have their power cut as a result of storm Milton, any gas car drivers trying to flee are finding out that gas pumps are electric and re regretting having no gas left”
  6. @Ootohere That just highlights to my mind at least that there is much work to do in the public charging area to help bring the costs down to make the whole cost of ownership if you have to relay on public chargers more into the realms of that for ICE drivers, £12.60 difference between the cheapest and the dearest public chargers is just plain stupid IMO.
  7. I plan but the plan never works out. On the latest trip (Livingston to Kidderminster at 300 miles) I planned to stop at Preston, but by Carlisle my big mug of coffee 3 hours earlier meant I nearly wet myself by the time I got to the Tesla chargers at Todhills. Then the car was too full to charge at Preston and the traffic on the M6 was so bad that by the time I got to Stafford it was close to 2pm and I was ravenous (plus my bladder was urging me to stop). So my plan just went out of the window and I went with what the car told me was available.
  8. Hi Danoid. I cant get it booked in any earlier than the 26th as they are full, but the 26th falls within my 30 days as I only got it in Wednesday the 30th October, so they are committed.

  10. Not too many decent EV’s are under £40k and I believe it’s not based on base level so any extras brings you over as well. If someone only does small miles then getting an EV isn’t going to make any sense now, might as well get a diesel like mine and still only pay £35 hmm
  11. Then you need to update your profile information as it says you have a 2006 Fabia.

I’ve owned/driven both the 1.0 110 and 1.5 148 hp Kamiqs and the difference is negligible. Yes, the 1.5 picks up quicker but that’s where the differences end. The 1.0 110 hp is brilliant on motorways and hills, and it’s a complete red herring when people say it isn’t. Brilliant engine,
  13. No documentation other than the manual but the brochure and pricelist clearly outlines the 3yr roadside assistance I certainly got a notification for the old car when the roadside assistance was about to expire at 3 yrs from it's reg date
  14. I had in front of me the other day a newish KIA Sportage. I was looking at its butt and noticed the clean lines in the upper half (above the beltlne). Then I realised this is because some dimwit moved the entire set of turn signals/hazards/reverse lamp to the BOTTOM of the car, on the bumper ... And I windered ... how do these cars pass the ever ending restrictive regulations in Europe and get full marks stars and whatnot in the silly euroncap rating system? Some more seconds passed, and then, crawling forward, I noticed that in bumper-to-bumper traffic, these lights positioned so stupidly become literally "invisible" which means you have NO IDEA what the vehicle in front will do! Mind you, I was not on a lorry, but on a K12 Micra .... I wonder what pretense of safety concepts could be promoted when adopting such a whim of design.

It's a factory option which you can get on the RS too.
  16. Sainsburys have opened a new hub in Biggleswade. Bew to the charging market this year, they now have approximately 60 ultra rapid hubs in the UK.
  17. Fail to plan and plan to fail. There is starting the trip with a full tank, but with the amazing 800 miles range, or even 1,500 miles as in a video posted then really unless you are down to the last quarter tank even a 100 mile diversion is hardly an issue. It can be in Scotland if trying to get someplace like south from a Ski Centre and the snow gates close and it is an extra 120 miles you need to cover. These days there are a few Filling stations about. As to EV,s and a 100 miles or so range and the Motorway or dual carriageway closes without any prior warning then that does cause a bit of a panic if you are not familiar with roads that you have not used since you used to with a liquid fuel car & you know you are heading someplace where you know or think there is charging and hope that there is or you might be heading even more off the route or direction you had planned on.
  18. Is the recent drop in economy related to colder weather, or perhaps more traffic - delays- rather than new spark plugs?

  21. my VW transporter has the filler cap inside the passenger door opening, you need to open the passenger door to open the filler
  22. I only recently changed to bosche for my 1.5 DADA Skoda Kamiq and seem to be getting 5% worse fuel economy. Spark plugs were torqued to spec etc. Anyone else experienced this? Looking at forums post replacement it seems everyone hates bosche for spark plugs. Maybe it's their personal opinion however seem to see Denso and NGK coming out on top?
  23. I haven't yet, Been abroad but back today My dealer says the fix will be issued week beginning 3 Nov, but executive office says no news of a fix! I will give them this week
  24. Empty roads. 99 miles in 140 mins @ 3.6 miles a kWh showing. started with 109 miles showing an on the charger with 12 miles & 14% showing. Rain all the way and misty, and needed AC on sometime to clear windscreen. 12*oC at 2am on west coast and down to 6*oC at the East Coast.

@nta16, the first MK2 Escort Ghia 1600 with the minimalised (FoMoCo special version) twin choke Weber did tend to cause concern when pulling out onto the main road after work in winter time, but in general the auto choke worked okay, the second one's auto choke was faultless. I seem to remember that the theoretical max output was close to 90hp, the MK3 Escort Ghia 1.6 CVH with the horrible V V FoMoCo carb had similar theoretical max output, but 5 gears and better drivability than the older Kent in GT guise. I think that I was aiming at getting a MK1 1300E but I'm glad that I missed buying one of them, at the time that I bought the first MK2 Escort Ghia 1600, most MK1 1300Es had terminal tin worm, while owning MK2 Escort 1600 Ghias, I did have a look at a used MK2 Escort 1600E - but after its 2 years of life, the leather seats looked absolute crap, so I gave that idea a miss. These MK2 Escort 1600 Ghias were okay for going away on holiday in when only 2 people on board with luggage, but for commuting locally with 4 people on board and using hilly roads - not much fun.

The RS will achieve that task in something like 7 secs. 😬
  28. I once got the last space on a Hebridean ferry with my Yeti (this saving a 5 hour wait for the next one) when a Mini Countryman had to come off as it was too big ! Only big on the outside though… I can imagine it’s a good car to drive and hope you enjoy yours! but can’t help wondering why manufacturers can’t make something new with the near exterior dimensions but huge capacity of the Yeti?! Then I might be interested in changing…
  29. Late to the party, only just found this thread - but just wanted to say I agree with you, Col, and particularly love the phrase "The world these days is a bad place but inside our Yeti is glorious peace" Yeti poetry indeed! May you go on enjoying it ☺️
  30. Issue with the EVO2 engine and the manual gearbox, easy way to tell it comes without an engine cover. Introduced maybe late 2022, also reports on other VAG car forums, ie T Roc etc with same EVO2 engine in manual.
  31. Hi, welcome. When wont it go above 3.600 rpm, what situation(s)? What gearbox do you have? What have you checked on the engine and car? What is the service history of the car?

Change of heart, I can't bring myself to scrap the old girl, I'd rather get an MOT and sell it to someone who can get a few more years out of it. Parts for the MOT came to £300 with labour likely to be £500+, a sale in the current climate should cover my costs and help towards something else.
  33. Hi @celli have you requested your money back from Skoda as yet, or has anyone one else had success with requesting a refund. I made a request for a full refund on Monday via my Dealership who have been very supportive, who are liaising with Skoda UK on my behalf. I’m currently waiting to hear the outcome which is expected early next week. As there is still no definitive timescale for a fix to the camera module issues I can’t see how Skoda can refuse a full refund. I’ll post a further update once I hear back from Skoda.
  34. I used to try rocking the air filter housing after removing the air tube clips - these ratcheting pliers for removing these clips is a very handy tool to have, which I originally removed the air filter on my wife's 2015 Polo 1.2TSI, I just used a rack type tool that Laser tools sells, that worked well good, but not as fast to use as the ratcheting pliers for these big strong clips! Rocking the air filter housing allows you to build up confidence to get the housing up and off its mounting "ball studs". For anyone with a later 1.0TSI engine, maybe a warning, there is a bolt to remove as well AND the filter outlet pipe to the turbo input has its pipe clip slightly out of sight at the back of the engine, our younger daughter and husband has a 2019 SEAT Arona 1.0TSI 115PS, and they are not "car people" at all, so they handed that car into a "proper" German car Indie garage in Bromley for its 4th service maybe 6 months after they had bought it, as the garage knew that they didn't plan to do many miles per year, that garage did not replace the spark plugs, but, they removed the air filter housing and opened it up to examine the filter element - which sounds maybe "fair enough", anyway, 3 months later they drove up to visit us in Scotland and I chose to keep that car's service parts change to what SEAT advise, so I replaced the spark plugs. After checking up on what differences there were wrt air filter fixings, I released both air pipe clips and moved them up along the pipes, and after rocking the filter a bit I lifted it up and off the car, as I moved it to the side to place it down in a safe place, there was a noise of something dropping off that housing - half of the tube that couples the filter to the turbo had come off with the filter, but as I had also released the clip it was only just able to stay with the filter - but that should not have happened as that tube should still have held together with its other half which was bolted onto the turbo inlet! So, it looked a lot like that the previous person to lift that filter housing, did not actually release the clip on that output pipe, and just forcibly yanked the air filter housing upwards and in doing that disassembled the outlet pipe assembly! I couldn't re-assembly that outlet pipe assembly that day, and the car was needed back in use and driving back down to London a day later, so it had to survive for a month or so in that state until I bought a new pipe assembly, sent it down to them and got them to get maybe the same garage to swop them over and request that the original parts were left in the car. When we next visited them, I collected the 2 parts of that pipe assembly and took them back home, where I discovered that these 2 parts could actually get pressed/forced/snapped back together - so if anyone discovers that this has happened, you should, given enough time, be able to force the 2 parts back together! The outlet pipe on the 1.2TSI engines, at least the CJZD version that my wife's 2015 car has, has a simpler and easier to deal with air filter outlet pipe which from memory is a one piece assembly. Edit:- "from" not "form" !!
  35. Hi. Had my Superb for almost three years covering 79500miles. I've been impressed by the interior space as it fits almost anything you ever could imagine put inside the car. Reliability has been awesome, a broken damper, boot lid lock and some knocking on the front suspension. At one time it wouldn't start but it cured itself after a couple of minutes. I've never been a friend of the driver seat, for my quite heavy body 105kg @177cm it has to little cushioning and the shape of the backrest doesn't do any good for my body. The massage function is a gimmick that's nice to have but I won't miss it. Ventilated seats on the other hand is god send Comfort is ok, to much road and wind noise, with DCC in sport it gets quite stiff but it doesn't improve the handling that much (,normal driving). Comfort mode is my melody - floating around on the road Rear seat must be among the best there is!? Specced the steering that only has two turns end to end, really nice when going slow, parking etc. ACC does what it should, adaptive lane assist and everything working but I've only used them for a couple of hundred miles as I hate the feeling of someone else taking control of the car. 3zone climate control, it's okey but could have better cooling and heating, always keeps this in "sync" and won't miss it a bit. Heater and Skoda connect, heater ok, basic performance and Skoda connect has been really dodgy, never knowing when it will work made me use the remote most of the time. Headlights - low beam ok but high beam is a joke, installed a led bar as I drive on country roads with more forest than people and often when it's dark. Washe fluid tank a little on the small side, would have appreciated 6-8litres capacity. Rear view camera - God send! Really good resolution and functionality no matter how ****ty weather or dark it is. Columbus head unit - really hate the touchscreen. Not that fast but does what it should. Canton - I'm one of those that doesn't like the sound it produces, to much treble and low end, nothing in the middle. Good for electronic music though. Towing capabilities - pretty good actually, nothing to complain about except the DSG when doing tight manouvering. I guess this is common for all brands of these boxes. Haldex - ok performance, programming must differs a bit from Volvo as it feels like it's slower in it's reactions. Never gotten stuck anyway That sums it up - a good and reliable car, everything I complain about is subjective things that matter to me while others couldn't care less. Also the seats surely fits many others perfectly. But where will I go now? I came from a Volvo XC70 (my wife's car now) and will return to Volvo. Just signed the contract for a 2021 V60CC B4 AWD some sort of mild hybrid diesel with a whopping 14hk 48V electric motor It does miss some of the features of the Superb like adaptive chassi, that steering wheel thing, ventilated leather seats etc. But sound level in cabin is lower in the standard model, specced laminated windows all around in my order, makes a big difference in the XC70 and I believe it will in the V60CC also. Seats fits me better, climate control has more oumph for both cooling and heating and the overall finish is a little bit comfier than the Superb (my opinion). Someday I might come back, but for three years from now I will be hanging in different forum. Wish you all the best!
  36. Shock, horror, youtube guy with history of posting anti EV, takes a spin on a small tax change that wouldn't affect most people, presents it as anti ICE.
  37. That CarWow price seems pretty strong to me, given that the buyer will then have to make a margin on the car. Why don't you put it up for sale on Briskoda?
  38. I not only supplied files for the Octavia, but also for many other systems and modules like OCU, VC, mib2, men3 systems etc
  39. This is wrong part, for different model of MK2 caddy. This is why finding that part is so hard - there were two variants of MK2 Caddy (neither manufactured by VW) - one based on Ibiza/Inca (6K/9K model) and one based on Felicia/Pickup (6U/9U model). Of course those models are entirely different with only handful of shared parts. The grill can be identified by shape of headlights - Felicia based caddy has rounded inner edges, while Inca is more rectangular. The correct part number is 6U7853651A+6U7853653 Unfortunately cannot help much more. Caddy pickups were only available for certain market, so those parts are even more scarce than Felicia ones. It was quite popular modification back in the day, called "Caddy grille" - most remaining grilles are most likely used by Felicia enthusiasts for this purpose.
  40. peter3197 - Thanks for taking the time to clarify that. Carlston - I've placed an order with MyTyres for 4 x Alcar 7760 rims 6.0 x 15 ET 38 and 4 x Goodyear Efficient Grip Performance 185/60 R15 88H. These are excellent tyres which I had on my Ford Focus and were highly rated by Gute Fahrt magazine in Germany. Apparently Gute Fahrt means 'have a good trip'. I've also ordered a set of those Dentro wheel trims 6V0071455. They are the closest look to the alloys currently fitted. I used your link to the Czech website but was not able to order from there. The cheapest I could find them in the UK was £65 plus postage. Hopefully I'll soon be having a Gute Fahrt 😁 Thanks again Van
  41. It's not a regulation thing, just something that two very experienced former racing drivers (F1 & Group C sports cars) who became ride & handling experts for a well known sports car manufacturer said to everyone prepared to listen to drivers with their level of skill.
  42. Next time I get 12v low - charge to drive, I’ll bite the bullet
  43. Hey thats my car he reviewed! He did seem to really like it. He's a decent guy, certainly knows his stuff.
  44. I had one in the centre of the car at the back under the number plate
  45. Ice vehicles have re-fuelling places on different sides of the vehicle too.
  46. Hi @JGrindel, do you still fit these cameras? I’m near Horsham in West Sussex and thinking of getting a reverse camera for my 2017 Fabia. thanks.
  47. If u don't do any coding, even if it's the exact same make & specs, there is no way the car will know u have a new battery, and will continue to charge/condition the battery as if it's the old one. This is not good for a new/fresh battery that needs to have different charging cycle. Sure, the new battery will work, ur car will work normally, but in the end, ur doing the new battery a disservice, and reducing the longevity of the new battery.
  48. A week ago I returned my Superb to the dealer @ 87 000miles, got 17 000£ for it, Iconsider this a good trade in price in Sweden at least. After one weeks driving andapprox 1000miles in the V60CC B4 my impressions is the following: Start/stop function - In the Superb I always deactivated this function due to the delay when pulling away, also it was quite noticable and generated a lot of vibrations when starting. The B4 engine doesn't vibrate in the same extent, not at all when starting. Engine is started before the foot is completely of the brake pedal - no delay at all and the function is active all the time. Gearbox - DSG is kind of quick and could shift seamlessly under the right circumstances, but it had its quirks when it didn't know what gear to use coming into a roundabout. The torque converter connected to the B4 might not be as efficient but it never hesitates and even when under load it shifts silky smooth. Steering - I really miss the progressive steering from the Superb, it was one of the things that I didn't think I would miss but I was so wrong! The Volvo is "sharper" when turning but not enough to make any difference. Comfort - One thing I knew I would miss, the DCC in comfort mode when going straight on country roads, Volvo is firmer and sits somewhere between Normal and Sport of the Superb. A lot less body roll in the Volvo and better suspension setup makes it feel more in control and agile on twisty roads. Soundlevel in cabin is in a different world, with the acoustic glass there is no wind noise present at all in the Volvo, also noise from tyres are a fair bit lower even though the Superb was equipped with Michelin Cross Climate and the Volvo has Spiked Hakkapelitta 9 tyres. Rattle from gravel is effectively silenced in the Volvo while it was very loud and present in the Superb. Seats - This is subjective but this is the reality for me - In the Superb a 200miles drive would cause back pain no matter sitting position, in the Volvo I went on a 450miles trip last Tuesday and didn't get any pain at all. To be honest the old Volvo seats in XC70 or the higher spec seats are even more comfortable. Space - Superb is a clear winner, both front, rear and luggage. Storage is also a lot better in the Superb. Headlights - Xenon on the Superb with SLA and everything + a 160W led bar, Volvo equipped with Dynamic LED and 90W led bar. Dipped light in the Superb is actually brighter with a better light dispersion, Full beam is a LOT better in the Volvo and the automatic lights actually works so good I can leave them in all the time as it also controls the led bar effectively. In the Superb I couldn't use the SLA with the led bar, when using without the bar half of the oncoming vehicles flashed me to turn the full beam off. Climate - Volvo reaches 21c a lot quicker than the Superb, but non of the cars suffers from cold or warm spots in the cabin. Heat are distributed just as good in both cars. Superb had 3 zones, Volvo 2zones, both has remote controlled diesel heaters, Volvo can be remotely started to heat up even faster. Infotainment - Both has those horrible touch screens, Volvos has an edge in responsiveness and the bigger screen but. Functionality is about par with some differences in approach, Volvo has all important settings reachable with one swipe right while the Columbus has them hidden in a menu three. In my opinion both solutions are equally bad - always requires focus to be taken of the road... Sound system - Canton in Superb, High Performance in Volvo. More oumph i. The Superb but a more full and harmonic sound in the Volvo. To my ears the Volvo system is more natural sounding and has a better roll off in the treble. Sound quality is lower in the V60CC compared to same spec XC70, Superb has an edge in the clarity between 1500hz to 5000hz, Volvo has an edge as it actually reproduces sound between 300Hz and 120Hz where the Canton really lacks. Ambient light - Beautifull in the Superb, in the Volvo this is limited to two ledlights in the ceiling. Fuel economy - Hard to tell but it looks to be in the same area, still learning the Volvo. Between 70km/h and 100km/h B4 takes less fuel, but on twisty roads it uses more fuel. Highway driving they both use 5.5L/100km Power delivery - B4 has an almost linear power delivery but it doesn't really benefit from high revs, Superb felt snappier on some occasions and in some like an old lump that didn't know what to do. All in all both are really good cars, V60CC handles a lot better on uneven roads, better sound proofing and better seats. The Superb is more comfortable on straight roads, has more space and a better dipped beam. I miss the Superb but I don't regret that I got the V60CC.
