  1. But I believe a guaranteed 350 to 400 mile range, all weather, no jiggery-pokery, is a useful figure for EV manufacturers to aim at.
  2. Thanks all. I never cheapskate and use just water, but different concentrations depending on the time of year! Fortunately when I got there, they only wanted to charge me £7 for the new fluid, so I think I got off that lightly without the £84 bill!
  3. Cold comfort if you are one of the 5%. Me neither. The difference is I would probably arrive at my destination a lot earlier.
  4. ^ that’s the sticker I was thinking of, shame they don’t have it there, most other cars do 😞
  5. update first to 1896 or 1899 and then you can update directly to 1985. Some update straight from 1985, but i dont advise it.
  6. Gearbox temperature is an option in my '24 plate vRS. I may have had to select it as a displayable item, but it was readily available.
  7. Recently, my lovely but damaged Yeti was deemed an uneconomic repair, and today I took delivery of a Karoq 1500 SEL. Apparently the Karoq is 5cm wider, but it feels much more than that. It certainly feels like a much bigger car altogether, but the increased spec. like keyless entry and starting, and auto handbrake, not to mention the brolly under the passenger seat, make the Karoq quite a step up, and I am very pleased with it.
  8. The issue has never happened to me, and I've not been keeping too close an eye on what brand I use over a few decades of driving. There's another school of thought that says having too week of a mixture can cause bacterial growth, and I do like to keep the mixture fairly strong, even in summer.
  9. There are different types of screen wash fluids that can cause a gel like substance to form when mixed. You don't have to use the VAG branded stuff, but you do need to use compatible fluids I'm afraid.
  10. Last Update: has been working fine these last months. Some logs after the hpfp replacement: Please mark as solved.
  11. I remembered, eventually! As mentioned above, the setting was toggled back in April and, sure enough, when the clocks changed at the end of October the clock in the car corrected itself automatically. So, to summarise, for those with access to OBD11 who want the car's clock to update automatically on the European dates: Navigate to the following long coding with OBD11: > Controller 5F (Multimedia) > Adaption > Summertime-automatic > None / Manual / Europe / USA / Automatic Set to "Europe" Save and exit Go to the time and date settings in your infotainment unit Switch on the change to summertime automatically setting **Any changes to your car's coding are at your own risk!**
  12. Of course not, it's not as if anyone ever drives their car outside the UK or tows a caravan etc😃
  13. but just how realistic is that? I do a fair bit of travelling around, and it helps me create youtube content too but later this month I need to go to Newport in Wales. It's about an 8 hour drive but knowing the M6 it will easily become 10 (5 to Bormingham became 7 both ways last week),the train is more than 7 hours and needs 4 changes so do you know what? I am flyign to Bristol with Easyjet and hiring a car to get to Newport. All for under £100. So yes, in theory being able to drive from the North to South coast is interesting, same as walking/cycling/ running between the two is an interesting possibility in theory but for most of us couch to 5k or the local park run is probably the most we will ever do (or more like couch to beer fridge)
  14. Seems the lack of EV charger perception is more a visibility problem then actual real problem.
  15. Hi just wondering if anyone has used one of these cables to permanently disable the start stop feature? I connected it but the start stop light flashes even when engine off and car locked? I vaguely remember someone saying similar in one of the forums but can’t find it. Thanks.
  16. My SE diesel manual has ACC. Works well especially for steady driving ( as opposed to in traffic). Obviously, if for example following a lorry up a long incline and speed reduces significantly, you may need to change down a gear, but when ACC is set, this gear change is done without touching the throttle- the computer adjusts the revs nicely on depressing and releasing the clutch. Very smooth. Same when “over the hill” and you need to change up again. I dont do much town/ city driving in the Superb so any “benefits “ of DSG auto in stop/ start town driving arent useful to me. personally, I went for a manual because of the need to sometimes manoeuvre slowly and accurately in reverse with a ( boat) trailer attached, and I feel a manual box and my clutch foot give much better control. I also believe the manual box to be dependable and more reliable - even more so since joining this forum and seeing so many DSG auto tales of woe.
  17. @Danoid - The Build Plate on the door pillar won't have the paint code. This is the Build Plate on the door pillar. @Dooge - The build sticker in the boot with the PR Codes will have the paint code. Or u jump on Skoda erWin, enter ur VIN number to find out. This is the build sticker in the boot, showing the paint code.
  18. @EnterName I think this video perfectly explains why there is scepticism over climate science. Starts at where he talks about the scientists agenda. Earlier in the video talks about the source of 2009 "climategate". Basically: Everyone has an agenda, different wings of media, the climate scientists, you and I. Everyone's agenda is formed from their personal experience and their view of the world. Everyone is pushing an agenda that is backed by their individual circumstances. Scientists are humans, each have their own agenda. The willingness of the media to portray climategate as proof that one shouldn't trust scientists also born out of their own agenda. Difference is, the scientists are beholden to the scientific method whereas the media can write anything as long as there is skippet of relatable information. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scientific_method That also explains why we have a few scientists and individuals who are saying the opposite from consensus. Those individuals also have their own agenda to push. And it begs the question who do we trust. Individuals who have not managed to get their conjecture through the hundreds of years scientific method, or majority of scientistic who have all reached consensus?

Mostly about turbo boost pressure as much as anything right? Even standard, 320 in the Golf 8 compared to the 220 in an Escort Cosworth is an impressive sign of the times.
  21. I had this on my Octavia scout tdi fitted with the dq381. Needed a new MCU thankfully under warranty. The car was 4 years old and had covered 49,000 miles
  22. Hello Yes, it seems to be air cooled. It does have holes where cooler air seems to come out of (circled red in the picture) and all the brochures also point that out. It's quite cool weather here already (10 C) but I can definitely say that the wireless charging pad works much better on the facelift. The charging starts faster, is faster and doesn't randomly stop charging. I'm happy.
  23. Best get your dealer to do the first one, then if you can find it, find 1941 on here, there's a guide that I put together on page 26 (IIRC) of that thread, you can then do another for 1969. If you're not comfortable with flashing devices with new firmwares then it's probably best that you leave it to those those who are or know exactly what they're doing or a skoda independent or local dealer.
  24. 2.0 TDI, 110k miles. DSG service at 80k. Never had an issue with gears shifting, always been smooth.
  25. pressure of the owners on the producers isn't strong enough 😞 when upload of whole base is safe for Mib3 security then also single logos upload procedure can be implemented by the same safe method
  26. We do not get motorways north or Perth so i would need to travel south to be doing that and as scarce as Traffic Police are i would be sure to be caught, not just caught out. @lol-lol never seen them have an issue if wearing a skirt / dress, maybe no nickers. By the way my local dog walking / dogging area has condoms left every morning now and people have stopped parking there now. Some EV charger hubs should really have condom machines & bins. These unlit areas which have very few customers are attracting all sorts in EV,s or alternative fuelled vehicles.
  27. Picked mine up - will share some pics when I get the chance to take them. Very happy. Doesn't seem to have the sound actuator, at least I could not find any setting for turning off in the indivusal mode. It sounds OK, still a lot quieter than my really old GTI, but much more comfortable. It is quick, but doesn't feel it as much as the GTI!
  28. ordered my Sportline Edition 1.5tsi DSG end of Sept. had a phone call from the dealer this morning advising it has been built and is in transit, should arrive end of the month or 1st week of Dec.
  29. It matters how few tow, boats, gliders, caravans, transporters, trailers, generators etc, because eventually there are supposed to be only EV,s being First Registered for these private car owners to tow with. As far as how many go across the channel to drive from the UK, that might be more than tow caravans in the UK and for those that never go, then it matters not how many chargers there are across the water. Like those that maybe never go more than 300 miles from home driving, how many chargers around London does not matter if you live in Scotland.
  30. Dunno mate, there are repair kits you can buy, but never tried one.
  31. Very nice set up, thanks for your help

It is just strange that this car is so slow. On CarWow it performed poorly. 12.4s 1/4 and they usually do 1ft roll measurements. I am doing that time with Stage 1 on old Gen3 engine (without 1ft roll with 350hp/480nm). The one in "Sleeper" Superb is gen4 engine, 7 speed DSG, 120hp more... So it it pretty lazy and does not have stated power, for sure.
  33. Agreed, but if you can't afford to have a 2nd car all taxed and insured ready to jump in. This is why I say that currently the EV is not capable of being considered a replacement for an ICE, even with home charging for many people. To be a suitable replacement they need to be capable of getting fully charged in about 5 minutes and be able to find a charger easily, and resolve the problems associated with EV fires, then if the price is right, the barrier to their wide spread adoption is removed.
  34. @domhnall the real EV thing is that many do not need to travel far, or have an EV that can go quite far on a charge. Does the job. Then really that 150 mile range EV, or 200 mile range if lucky, but it is not Summer / Lucky season & when you get a call to go someplace in an emergency is a right PITA. Someone has a few hours maybe to live, go visit them on their death bed. or family needs you to go look after the kids. Unexpected stuff. Car is not fully charged, so off to a charger, then on your way, usually you take your time, this time you are in a hurry and you just want on a charger and away. You get there near empty, they have no charger, the 3 pin socket is no place near your car. That is when we take the ICE vehicle if we have one. Like when you are feeling really crap but need to travel someplace in Scotland & it is where there still are not Commercial Chargers available. Luckily fewer and fewer places.
  35. What a load of nonsense! - so they are now calling the HB control stalk (which every vehicle with twin-beam lights must have as standard) 'HBA'?
  36. Thank you, I believe this is the right kit as the numbers match relating to Springs, yours sits well seen your post about 245/40 tyres which is what I’m going for 19x9 et38
  37. Well I've done plenty of development on mines but did cost a small fortune to get the power I'm at.
  38. I have used one. No problems. All it does is remember the setting at switch off. But there are probably multiple versions of these little things. Are you sure the connectors were properly clicked in both ends? Run a scan?
  39. @travshere's the weird bolt pattern.
  40. Well it turns out that High Beam Control is not on new Facelift Mark 4. This has been confirmed by an email from Skoda UK. They state High Beam Control is in the SEL spec in UK but now I am told that the manual range adjust is what they mean. Can't say I'm too happy about it. Why mention it if it is just manual range adjustment?
  41. Indeed that is always a problem for some people in any location and time of year, but is also one that takes just seconds to resolve once rescue services are on the scene, open the fuel filler and pour a gallon of fossil juice into it, job done. I once had to rescue a colleague who run out of diesel just as he exited Blackwall Tunnel in East London, slipped into the PFS, half a mile along the A13, £10 of diesel in a jerrycan and a funnel later, all solved and on his way again (I don't think he ever paid me the tenner either, oh well).
  42. I waited 5 minutes at a tesla supercharger on the M6 4 years ago. So it does happen And when I arrived at Stafford last week 3 out of 6 chargers were in use so I only had three to choose from.

In my Octavia and previous Passat the total miles driven is hidden when the cruise control is displayed.
  44. In the Summer there are often stories in the news about tourists running out of petrol and diesel in these areas because of a lack of awareness that filling stations are rather thin on the ground
  45. 245 40/R19, ET35*9.5J, this is my current data, it is almost flush with the body, it feels pretty good.
  46. Hello all, I'm finally becoming a forum member after 5.5 years of Kodiaq ownership. This appears to be a great forum and valuable source of shared knowledge to keep my motor running tiptop. Cheers all
  47. I wanted to add my experience on this topic as it might be useful for others. My issue started very much like the OP - cold air from driver's side and warm(ish) on the passenger side. Skoda Octavia MkIII, 2015. Here's my story: I first thought it would be the sensors like the OP and I tried to swap them (they're accessible on either side of the instrument panel --- if you have small hands!). Wasn't that. I read about the 'Mit Silikat' issue and saw my coolant looked very much like @centerback had in his pics: browny colour, with small bits in it. If I rubbed the bits between my fingers, they dissolved away so weren't hard lumps. I took it to my local garage and no issues seen through diagnostics (no fault codes, etc and the readings showed vent motors working fine). They flushed the system for me and that helped but not as should be - got luke warm air from both sides. I asked the garage to take the 'Mit Silikat' bag out of the expansion tank at the same time as flushing it - the bag did not seem ruptured but I presume the bits in the coolant and the browny colour was due to stuff getting out the bag. The heater matrix is located behind the centre console - I took the little trim off the side to expose the matrix pipes so I could keep an eye on them. The trim is held by one screw and just pulls down. I drove the car for a couple of weeks. Initially, the in pipe and out pipe of the heater matrix were both very hot (be careful!!) but vent air was luke warm only. So I guessed that the hot coolant was trickling through the matrix (i.e. partially blocked). After a long drive, the air went completely cool on all sides - checked the pipes: in hot, out cool. That confirmed blocked heater matrix for me. Had the heater matrix changed - around £320. About half that was the part plus some money for flush & coolant. Rest was labour. Thankfully the heater matrix can be taken out without needing to remove the whole instrument panel so only a couple of hours of labour (no charge for the diagnostics which was nice of them!). There is a video showing how to change the matrix here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ue7KP4U1xaQ. And if you search for the workshop manuals you should find they explain the same thing - see here: https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/461680-mk3-workshop-manual/. By the way, there are 2 different manufacturers of the heater matrix for the car (see the workshop manual). My garage were sent the wrong one first time! I did not get the expansion tank changed (should do if you want a new 'Mit Silikat' bag). I chose not to have another one of those bags - not advised but it was my choice. After that, I've had lovely hot air! Hope that helps others.
