  1. Would've missed this one, had it not been for a timely intervention from my Daughter in the passenger seat: Gaz
  2. The originals were okish but not so sporty, which became more and more obvious lowering the car and adding side skirts. So found these used Audi Sline wheels and it seems they suit quite well. No need for spacers also...
  3. A Christmas gift I will cherish 😀📸👍
  4. Fog had lifted, but early evening mist now descending............
  5. Be careful what you wish for. One way to do it is charge 20% VAT on home charging.
  6. You know @Graham Butcher, given that CO2 is supposedly a problem, it seems odd to me that you can legally buy devices sold with the sole purpose of generating CO2. Or is that just me misunderstanding things, and this is "good" CO2, not like the "bad" CO2 emitted by vehicles? https://www.onestopgrowshop.co.uk/collections/co2-supplementation
  7. Electricity should be getting so cheap that 20% of next to nothing is almost nothing. Like the small price rise on single tariff and day time dual rates if one is using most one's electricity at the night time rate, and that is staying at the same rate, a poultry 8.5p per kwh ie dropping in real terms, it would not be so bad. UK government could be creative as it has left the EU when you can only have one lower rate, 5% in uk case, a standard rate over 15% and then a super rate which uk never adopted. I would be quite happy to see a 10% rate on both home and public charging to even the playing field. It would hardly change my home bills but take 8p or so off public charger and be fairer to those you cannot charge at home.
  8. Thanks for the response. I’m tempted to leave as-is too. I feel if I tell Skoda about the misfuelling they might use it against me for any future warranty claims.
  9. You could have referred to him as he as I note you did in your last posting. Your mention of respect answers my question, I do not respect or admire someone that bigs themselves up by naming themselves as the master and also preceding it with "the" (my terrible 70's progressive education means I am unable to give the correct grammatical term for it) and no way would I ever refer to them using it. Would he, him etc be his pronouns? Maybe I have the woke brigade to thank for correcting one tiny bit of my ignorance of grammar!
  10. The letter, is the one that he has not yet received from Porsche, it is one has been sent to other Taycan owners of a particular batch of Taycans. He rang his insurance company to ask a hypothetical question about would happen to anybody in the situation where they had been advised not to charge undercover or park close to buildings until the repair had been carried out. You heard their response in the video. In the previous video when you posed that question he did not say who he was or if he had a policy with that company, they traced his phone through their records, found out he did, and have assumed that he has a faulty car and not notified them and so are refusing to roll his policy over without renegotiating or further clarification on if he has a faulty car or not. The implication being, that if you are one of these unfortunate people, then it is very likely that if you do not follow the manufacturers advise, they would withdraw cover in the event of any incident arising with your car being the cause of it.
  11. I won't because I would not put myself through the ordeal of having to look and listen to him again. A question for you, why do you refer to him by the stupid title he has created for himself or is it in a mocking manner?
  12. Don't really come across this in most of England I think due to the higher population density and the higher propensity of firms such as Gridserve, Ionity and TESLA to name the top few but I am sure there are several other names that some would add to that list. Where many of us charge we actually can choose from a bank of chargers from say Gridserve or a bank of chargers from TESLA. Each will have several stalls available, their up time percentage seems to be well over 99% and the cost of TESLA at least not too bad and likely to come down lower as they look to destroy any competition in these locations which hopefully the Grdiserves, like at Braintree, Gatwick, Norwich and many of the English service stations will need to start competing as any drive though will see the TESLA Public chargers open to all are usually five time or more well attended than Gridserve. All 150 kw or more stations it seems and many to be uprated to 360 kws to cope with the ever increasing 800v architecture cars with charge times of around 15 minutes for a charge to take one well over 3 hours driving at UK NSL. Not sure I knew or would presume to know the solution for Scotland but I think I would have been much more tempted to pay the extra £4k asking price for the big battery Scenic with the 370 mile WLTP rather than settle for my 267 mile WLTP smaller battery but I am rarely more than ten miles from a bank of 8, 12, 16 high powered chargers with super high reliability.
  13. There is a support bracket around the RH (viewed from inside cabin) driveshaft flange that bolts to the engine block, a pig to get to!
  14. Hello All! Today's update, still awaiting my replacement engine. On route at the moment. Today the engine was removed. 2½ Casual hours. When taking off the wheel arch liners I was surprised at the amount of mud between it , the body work and the peace of foam. It looks like a great spot for rust!
  15. @wyx087 Perhaps we should be looking at reducing deforestation, stamping out wild bush fires (seems that most are started either deliberately or by being reckless with campfires etc) and maybe take a leaf out of Chinas play book? China Removed Billion Tons of Sand From the Desert, What Happened a Year Later Surprised Everyone
  16. It all depends on your budget. Honestly (and it depends on how long you want to keep the car for) I would go for a genuine towbar. They are expensive but it integrates into the car's MIB system far better than any third party kit. It comes in two parts - the electronics harness and the second part is the towbar installation part (ideally go for a removable hook variant). Prices can be obtained from your local dealer.
  17. A scan is really going to help matters. You can either get / find somebody with VCDS or get an ODBeleven dongle to do the scan and post it here. The symptoms you mention could be related to a multitude of things. A scan can help us direct you in the right direction.

B8s are the same damping as B6, but with a shorter rod - specifically for lowered or factory “sports” suspension. If I recall its about 30mm or so shorter on B8 vs the B6.

  20. Be very cautious if you intend to use 'One Click' coding - it can result in unwanted, and difficult (or impossible) to reverse changes. You would be strongly advised to download all existing settings before making ANY changes.
  21. Touch wood... after 10 days ish post recall fix and return, I now haven't been dinged at, at all, for several days. No commuting this week but theres been a bit of short range travelling around seeing the fam, mrs wanted to go shopping, we needed a post christmas tip run etc. Everything currently works and it's done it all with aplomb Touch wood, again.
  22. Ah, I didn't check the forum in the morning, so I couldn't tell the service about your idea. I just came back from the Skoda dealership for a check after the DSG change. I had a chance to talk to the mechanic who worked on my car. He said that they were almost certain that the source of the noise was the gearbox oil pump, because when they cut the power to the oil pump during the noise, the noise disappeared immediately. However, when they checked some parameters such as oil flow rate etc. during the noise, they did not find any abnormal readings. He added that this was the first time the factory had encountered this noise problem and that they would probably recall the old gearbox and check it. I guess I'll have to pray that the oil pump doesn't say "I'm done" until the factory finds and fixes the problem.
  23. That will only happen when the pointless link to world oil/gas prices is broken, and I don't see any of the current electricity suppliers agreeing to that as it will slash their profits.

No oil leaks mate , I shall keep ya posted on the saga of my skoda lol have a good weekend and many thank for taking time to reply .
  25. Generally differences in temperature could be a blocked heater matrix or air con low on refridgerant, one of the many blend doors or motors that drive them, a dodgy temperature sensor or one that has maybe fallen out of the ductwork. First I would stop using the AC and see if the temperature split continues then you can rule that out straight away. There will be a reset procedure you can carry out for the flaps by pressing a combination of buttons, you should be able to use google to find out what you need to press for the year of car and model of climatronic you have. When you say there is a continuous increase in temperature, does this continue if, for example, you are too hot at 21, if you turn it down to 18, do you still end up at the same temperature as you did at 21? I only ask because the temperature settings are relative to each other rather than an actual temperature, you need to set the temperature you are comfortable with rather than thinking you need to be at 'X'

Could the burning smell be the engine regenerating?: Smoke from around the engine - do you have any oil leaks? I definitely think parking it up will be for the best. It could all be easily explained away, once it's looked at, but if there's something more serious, then a stitch in time..... Keep us posted as to the outcome 👍 Gaz
  27. Normally it's when you've sat on your keys or had them in your pocket and accidently pushed and held the unlock button , as well as unlocking the car it will drop the windows. When you don't use the door handles to enter the car - it automatically re locks but the windows stay down. I once managed to get my mkI Superb very wet inside after I did the same with the keys in my pocket whilst sat on the settee. Never did the same on my mkII Superb as I now always hang the keys up but I did use the feature in the summer to drop the windows approaching the car parked up in the summer to let the hot air out! Likewise pushing an holding the lock button is useful for raising all windows. Infact I really missed the function when I bought a new car this year but discovered in the manual it was a possible dealer enabled setting - now done!

BTW @MartiniB is the resident expert on maps on the Briskoda site which he sniffs out and indexes on the audio etc bit of the board. The mib3 thread is here: Well worth checking it out from before June and before November. Detailed conversations get put there.
  29. Worcester is the same as there must be well over a hundred chargers dotted around the small city that Worcester is and another fifty within at mile radius such as at the Parkway whale weigh station. If I had any criticism I would like to see more capable of 150 kws, or above, so I can flash charge the Scenic and warm the traction battery on coolish days. Cheaper prices would be nice, more dynamic pricing, plunge pricing as it has become known when the wind blows, not the Raymond Briggs type wind blows just a healthy North Sea blow spinning up the turbines. At some point TESLA will really spike the market as they have in some cities like Manchester and offer prices close to home charging, certainly without the VAT. Let's hope Labour does what the Cons would not and align home and public charging Value Added Tax.
  30. @andry You have posted previously in English. Please stick to using English.
  31. Hello Luke, welcome to the forum. If the tank and fuel lines were flushed, I'd be inclined to leave the filter as it is - unless the diesel was badly contaminated too. Any remaining diesel fuel will be flushed out of the filter almost immediately. Petrol through a diesel fuel pump might have been a little worse though, but I'd still think the possibility of damage to be pretty low. I think I've seen references to the filter being integral with the pump.
  32. @J.R. you were right, there is a TDC alignment guide at the bottom end. Didn't spot it when disassembling, and struggled to take a clear pic once it was back on, but there's a notch on the rear edge of the aux pulley and a line on the lower toothed belt cover. Might be easier to see with torch and mirror than to take a photo, to be honest. Minimal progress today, no energy. Refilled coolant, eased condenser forward a bit to clean out quite a bit of crud from between it and the radiator. Refitted lower belt covers and popped the pulley back on loosely. Got some new boost hose seals in the post today, ordered @5.30pm Monday from deutscheparts on ebay, good effort by them.
  33. Oootohere's diagnosis is pretty much the only plausible one given the noise only happens when parked on an incline.
  34. There are a lot of mature or disabled drivers out there that are forced to drive around in huge cars they are not fully comfortable in driving due to accessability requirements, wheelchairs, scooters etc.. do you not think this might of been the use case for designing these systems?
  35. Farina Fettler'/s House ruins, South Australia.
  36. You should not need a law to tell you to stop rather than run over a pedestrian even if they should not be crossing where they are, - not you personally Nick, people in general. For anyone driving in France read up on and understand (aint easy!) the Priorité à Droite laws, it could save your life and those of others. Also be aware than any Zone 30 (30kph) speed restriction which are springing up everywhere makes it by default a pedestrianised zone and people may cross the road wherever they choose without any warning, indeed any pedestrian crossings will have been removed. The reason for the latter is that a pedestrian can be fined if they cross the road less than 25m from a passage piéton without using it, some drivers think that gives them the right to run them over
  37. I don't think i would bother to go out on my Christmas day to save £5
  38. ^^^Lets see how many Motoring Journalists / Vloggers spend their own money and buy or lease them and not just drive Media cars.
  39. The manuals mostly are not printed these days. The punter is expected to navigate off into the bowels of a Skoda website and try to find same. Not only that but doing the same thing a month later may very well produce a different "version" of the manual.
  40. It does make us 'older ones' wonder sometimes, just how the hell did we survive back in the 1960's/70's 80's.
  41. I quite like the proportions. It has a look of a petrol car rather than a Lego motor driven kitchen appliance. At least it is interesting. I remember when Chris Bangle started to style BMWs and hated his original version of the 1 series with its flame surfacing, hideous, it looked like it had broken its back. But... after a while it looked fresh and original and the idea of these curved surfaces started to appear on other BMWs, perhaps in a slightly more subtle way, owing to the larger surfaces to work with, and I started to actually like them. Nowadays, we see these surfaces everywhere on all sort of cars, although perhaps BMW is now moving in a slightly different direction again. So I say "go for it" Jag, go down swinging, or go home. Mind you, I love elephants, but I wouldn't want to own one though.
  42. Many remain very close to the concept, I worked on the V705 Mazda MX5 concept car in 1985, the P729 production version debuted in 1989 at the Chicago Motor Show differed only in that it did not have the solid tonneau cover with twin D type fairings behind the driver and passenger heads that we had developed and the hood folded down into the space behind the seats in the traditional manner. The solid version was inspired by the tonneau cover on the Triumph Stag that I had owned 4 years before, I still have the lofted drawings of the prototype produced from the full size clay models from the styling studio, no CAD or laser scanning in those days.
  43. I'm wondering if it's aimed at influencers (God I hate that expression) and other vacuous wastes of breath? A car to be seen in, rather than a car to covet.
  44. my turn, finally... driving home after tonights trail run... Donkey 2 turned 200k (km) btw, its a number plate bulb
  45. Use castrol, VW dont make their own oils, they are made by another manufacturer so chances are it could even be Castrol, more than likely Comma or someone like that though. When replacing manual gear oil, drain from the botton, remove the fill plug and fill till it dribbles out the fill plug, no line or level, just fill. Seen as its physically not possibly to fill above the line unless really quick or having the car at a weird angle i dont know who or why someone would say that.
  46. You could try re-calibrating it
