  1. Hello all! Thought I’d pop back in and give you an update… Yes I’ve not been in here in years, had a hell of a job trying to get back into Briskoda previously and gave up. But was searching for something else on my old iPad which seems to have remembered an old log in’s details so I can finally access Briskoda again… After the engine fire plans were put in place to upgrade the Yeti. No point spending more money to have it back the same. A fully built more modern alloy block 2.5tsi was done that will take 800+bhp and a DSG box as it’s probably going to need to go flappy paddles at the power level. The shell was stripped and rather than a roll hoop behind the front seats, a full motorsport compliant roll cage was welded in. This is where we are now, but nothing has happened in the last few years. ive been fortune enough to have the money to go and do other stuff. In 2021 I raced a Nissan GT3 in Britcar. In 2022, 23 and 24 I’ve been racing a few things including period 90s Super Touring Cars. It’s a shame but the Yeti has fallen out of favour and sat there. im now in a situation where it needs maybe 20k spending on it to finish it. And quite simply I can’t justify that on a car that isn’t as good as the race cars, complete overkill on the road and unlikely to be used other than a couple of track days per year. So I suspect this is the end for the project. As I said it’s a shame, but I’ve been very fortunate to have a McLaren 765LT etc… over the last few years and dumping a ton of money into a 15 year old modified road car that will never be as good is just hard to justify, I have looked at selling it complete with the brand new forged engine but I doubt there would be any takers at the 20k it would break to with the motorsport dash etc…. so it seems this journey is destined to end with a sell off of the parts and the shell being squashed. And yes, in 2018 I went off, did the furry thing and got it mostly out of my system. Nice to have a bit of variety in life!
  2. All these years later and I still have a thing for Fantasy Green. Currently have: 1.4 8v Estate bought 10/11 years ago and already pictured on this thread. 1.9 SDI which is rough but plods along happily on 185k miles. 1.4 16v Elegance with the AWESOME Mystic Beige interior option! the Elegance is the only Fantasy Green one I’ve come across in 14 years. So what with the fancy interior I had to get it about 4 years ago. It’s been fettled over the last few years and is now in great shape!
  3. Good... Test results for some hybrids have always been daft. Hardly more nails in the coffin of ICE vehicles though... That's just hyperbole...
  4. Unreal how some can not see the issue. Those that can not charge at home is the point of things. The Social Divide affecting the take up of EV,s as well as Private Motorists compared to Commercial, Fleet, paid to drive as part of the job and not paying for fuel or electric.
  5. The Vauxhall/Stellantis PCP offering is cleverly pitched as being the same cost for ICE or EV but there is a catch - the price quoted is 4 yers for an ICE but 5 years for an EV so in reality it's 25% more expensive!
  6. ^^^ Lots of tosh right there. Lots of chargers with prices of 75-89 pence a kWh are nothing to do with MOTORWAYS, there are no Motorways North of Perth in the UK, plenty high cost chargers in Cities or Towns. There are people that BUY used cars, not PCP or on the Never Never, but they might buy to keep so the high depreciation is very very welcome. Yes there are subscriptions, offers, discounts if those are for Chargers you are going to be using and in the area where you live or travel in.
  7. Those with Home Charging facilities or work and Business use vehicles do seem blind to the difference of people that require to public charge, are maybe not near TESLA Chargers or have a TESLA and can have to pay anything from £6.00 - £8.50 to charge to maybe get from 30-40 miles of travel. (10 kWh) 60 kWh @ 75 pence a kWh =£45. & if you were to get 4 miles a kWh that is 240 miles. 3.5 miles a kWh, 210.
  8. I know, so did I but even now many people choose to ignore that fact. That divide is already upon us and it is those that are "the haves" are worst at acknowledging the truth in my experience and are generally the ones trying to tell everyone what they should be doing.
  9. Which part did you think was absolute tosh? We know it's a problem to 'home charge' your EV if you don't have a driveway. If you can home charge, then 100 miles can be as low as £2 to drive 100 miles in my diesel Superb is probably under £13, so the £14 he quoted is not far off of the mark. I think he over costed the 100 miles on public charging at £28, it is evidently more likely to be £18, which is still more expensive than an equivalent ICE vehicle. I don't know how EV used values are these days, so he might be wrong on that count.
  10. "That scientists believe" is no kind of weight to put behind any argument. You might as well say "But we all suffer the effects of climate change that women feel is largely down to pollution from burning hydrocarbons." "We're all in this together!" as David Cameron said, eh? "Cleaner" is one of those words that used to mean something, but has now been politicised to the point where it means whatever the person wants it to mean. You'd think that the politicians pushing for ICE cars to be phased out due to the imminent threat of catastrophic climate change would all be minimising their use of ICE vehicles and leading by example. They be using video conferencing for meetings and all official vehicles would be EVs. They'd minimise their "carbon footprint". However they do not. They fly around the world to meet each other and zip about in big gas-guzzlers. They don't believe in the climate change narrative any more than I do, but they know that they can con a lot of people into compliance if they can scare them enough. Here's Kier Starmer getting out of a vehicle that is so environmentally unfriendly it has a huge VED tax applied to it to discourage its use. However Comrade Starmer gets his VED paid for by the proletariat (or perhaps Lord Ali), so he doesn't give a toss about punitive taxes because he doesn't feel the effect of them. Using China as an example of a country fighting climate change is ridiculous. 😄
  11. Give it up George... There's no point arguing with him... As you said earlier he's blind to the point of the discussion taking place. It often happens with 'evangelists' of any sort... They just can't see past the end of Thier own nose.
  12. There are going to be plenty MUCH CHEAPNESS used BEV,s available and if you can charge cheaply and run without very high repair costs they might well be a good choice economically. Maybe 1 or 2 previous keepers, Demonstrator or Lease, maybe no record of 'Intrade' Auction then Trader / Dealers. Maybe no FMDSH as never serviced. Lots of if,s. Do not get an iffy one, have someplace or someone that can do the servicing and maintenance and be sure to have FULL RECOVERY SERVICE COVER. Moving a BEV with faults can be an EPIC. Then moving them again or again once where they are getting fixed.
  13. Yes, I pointed this out in 2022. I'm usually a couple of years ahead of the curve. 😋
  14. Hello, welcome to the forum. That looks to be perfectly normal drop in revs due to gearbox upshift.
  15. Definitely an oven cleaner enema required, I lived with the symptoms on my MK1 for several years (before joining Briskoda) until I had deduced what the problem was, the enema cured it and I did it another once maybe twice when the limp mode reoccurred very infrequently.
  16. I prefer the aero covers on as will be easier to clean with sponge! I think for the facelift, I feel as though I can just jump in the car and get going without having to wait for the entertainment system to reset, boot up and then switch off various settings because your preferences wouldn't be retained as in the pre-facelift. In the facelift a few button presses and I am good to go. Thank god the sound generator thing has gone because I would always select economy previously to get it switched off - now I just drive in normal mode and life is good and quiet with some sporty noises from the exhaust. Wireless charging and Apple CarPlay is fab - just put your phone down and it will charge, sync etc etc. and it doesn't need to be positioned in an exact sweet spot. I have Canton - difficult to tell the improvement over the stock system, must be better but bass doesn't shake the car or anything - probably more clear with additional speakers - would I get it again? probably. I also got a sunroof - not getting much action right now but really like it in spring/summer so glad I got it. Winter pack is great - obvs using it right now for heated screen and steering wheel. Infotainment system works very well and has had a significant improvement from previous version - responsive and screen a lot bigger. This is my 5th vRS estate and do miss the LED strips in the rear doors - I know this has gone for a wee while but just looks cheap and naff with the front doors having LED strips and then it just goes pitch black on the rear doors - am sure the bean counters could have afforded this in a £40k car. Can't think what else could be better but this is about it - so can't be all bad. No regrets about buying another vRS estate as I get no hassle from the dealer when buying new or servicing and Octavia's have not given me any grief over the years. Glad I bought this and not a Golf GTI - see ya VW!
  17. Last car was a Scout and now the 280 not sure I could go back to 2 x wheel drive.
  18. Hello and welcome Pop45 Sorry to hear about your clutch failure - it certainly does sound premature and potentially suspect. Have you considered having it inspected independently in case of a manufacturing or installation error? I'm fairly sure this has come up before, so it would be worth using the site's search facility, e.g.: I'll ask that a Mod considers moving this to the Kamiq section, as more people are likely to see it there. PS: Dorset - my favourite County 😎 We're regulars down to Bridport, around and about. Gaz Edit: Also noticed this while looking: https://www.autoinsider.co.uk/problems/skoda/kamiq/25727/skoda-kamiq-reg-yx20tcv-clutch-and-flywheel-burnt-out-12453mls-cost-me-ps-236422-to-repair-skoda-knew-about-fault-from-recall-nothing-done
  19. Congrats, however, it's an urban myth that you can't update with the engine running, I did and everything went fine, countless others have too. I was told by a VAG software specialist that it was fine to do so and it is. Just for anyone else reading who thinks they may have to hook up to a charger or something similar...
  20. Much appreciated, but it probably comes across as willy waving a bit too much so I try to keep myself more to myself these days. In fact I’ve cut right back on Facebook, Twitter etc… for that very reason. Times are tough and posting your Bentley (still in the VW group!) just seems a bit, IDK, wrong.
  21. some things that aren't mentioned in any advertising brochure, 272/280 4x4 will get: 1. bigger brake discs 340/310 front/rear, all rest have 310/298 2. additional radiator for DSG 3. visible exhaust pipes down sides: 1. extra one liter on highway and extra 3 in urban 2. The OEM 18" spare wheel is one of the worst choice, had to replace it i'm not regretting of upgrade from 2016. Mk3 2.0 TSI 220ps FWD Style ODO 5-123 000 km to 2023. Mk3.FL 2.0 TSI 280ps AWD L&K ODO 8-29 000 km . . .
  22. Official Vehicles might well be EV,s and not just when at Photo Ops about Green Energy or when there was the likes of COP26 . But Armoured Cars are not really going to be EV,s, but might well be PHEV,s for some extra oomph. Diplomatic and Royal Protection details are using BEV,s and high powered ones. HRH KC3 & his heir are fine with using BEV,s. Ones that are suited to their heritage. Sorry posted wring one. Best of China.

A Skoda erWin subscription will give u the paint codes, plus all the PR Build codes, based on ur VIN number.
  24. More nails in the coffin of ICE vehicles, even PHEV versions of ICE....... (Those PHEVS that say they can do over 100 mpg and have emissions of sub 50 gm/km but are actually twice or more will get their comeuppance.) https://www.autoexpress.co.uk/sustainability/365499/plug-hybrids-face-stricter-emission-tests-2025-misleading-efficiency-figures Plug-in hybrids face stricter emission tests in 2025 as misleading efficiency figures are targeted Plug-in hybrid cars will be subjected to more stringent emissions tests in 2025 to better represent real-world use cycles, Auto Express can confirm. It’s thought the changes could have significant implications for company car drivers, with some models expected to see big jumps in tax bands, which are based on CO2 emissions. Existing Euro 6e emission standards will be superseded by so-called Euro 6e-bis tests, applicable to all new models launched from 1 January 2025. This will then be updated at the end of the year (31 December) to include all cars on sale, meaning existing models will have to be retested in order to comply. Previously, the emissions tests were conducted over a simulated distance of 800km (497 miles), but Euro 6e-bis ups this to 2,200km (1,367 miles). To illustrate the effect this has on a PHEV’s emissions and fuel consumption in real world driving, the International Council on Clean Transport (ICCT) analysed the performance of a BMW X1 xDrive25e under the revised conditions. What are the Euro 7 emissions standards? The ICCT said: “Over the past several years, it has become evident that the currently used UF curve does not reflect the real usage of PHEVs resulting in unrepresentatively low official CO2 emission values. “This leads to an excessive gap between the real-world fuel consumption and the official value determined during type-approval.” The new parameters saw the X1’s emissions rise from around 45g/km, to 96g/km. The X1 has a current Benefit-in-Kind company car tax banding of eight per cent, but the 6e-bis tests would see this number jump to 24 per cent – comparable with the most efficient pure petrol models. A further advancement in emissions standards is expected in 2027, when ‘Euro 6e-bis-FCM’ comes into force. Under these circumstances, tested over a total distance of 4,260km (2,647 miles), the same BMW is said to emit around 122g/km. As it stands, only cars bought brand new will be affected by the updated emissions standards; there are no plans to backdate the bandings for existing company car users. This is in contrast to the proposed introduction of VED road tax for electric car drivers due later this year, which will be applicable to both new and existing electric vehicles.
  25. Mine went a couple of days ago and not willing to simply fork out £££ for a new unit, which would also have needed coding in, and baulking at the £60+ most are asking just for a replacement ribbon cable, I checked out some Youtube videos on repairing it and decided it was no big deal so with nothing to lose I dived in. The hardest bit turned out to be scraping clean the fresh end of the cable in preparation for soldering but it only took patience a light touch with a new Stanley knife blade. Unlike any of the videos I watched I replaced the little white bridge piece, Start to finish the job took about 2.5 hours. I can post some links to relevant videos if anyone want's them.
  26. Did a search but couldn't find much about people upgrading boot lighting in their Karoq. Just added some extra lighting to the boot. Probably overkill but it's a bit brighter now. Before and after pictures attached. I used this led strip And this little extension cable to splice into

Let us know how your search goes. I've started looking at speakers again, although I'm not changing mine anytime soon Found the B&W 702 S3 Sigs for £4.5k as an ex demo pair at Peter Tysons They look glorious in Midnight blue It raises another question, that if we are honest, the look of the speaker does matter too, even if it is nowhere near the main reason for buying a pair.
  28. Hello again, I have unplugged both washer heaters, and fitted new 5A fuse and fuse did not burn this time. after ignition on no warning lights popped out, all is working well. Only tire pressure warning is still on, but to reset it I believe I need to do some miles with the car so system can reset itself. @Breezy_Pete thank you again for providing curtail information and good advice where to start from, hats off!
  29. Thanks for Thank you for the information. I didn't know about this type of reusable dehumidifier for the car, only the single use boxed ones for the home. I,ve bought a "wannabe pingi" (wonder if there is a difference in quality or if you just pay extra for the name, any experiences?) curious if it makes a difference.
  30. Sorry, I had done a typo earlier - was meant to say 30, not 40. All good. I call my Superb Gandalf cause of the references to Grey.
  31. Nope....ACT isn't the issue...and it's the technology built into the engine to drop cylinders when load is lower. Getting back to the misfire, obviously worrying. What manufacturer did you use for the sparkplugs and ignition coils? If it's not Bosch or Skoda OE, then that is a good first port of call. There are so many questionable parts out there and VAG csrs are picky about their parts! Please also check the earth contacts for the coils as they can break if put in incorrectly or overly tightened or are too loose. Also check for corrosion on the earthing points too. Are you getting any other ignition based faults or any timing faults?
  32. After 10 faithful years, my VRS Octavia has gone onto the dealer network. Hopefully the next owner enjoys it as much as I have. It will be missed.
  33. Thanks sorted went for 150 thule evo pro bars
  34. I have been timing engines with strobe lights and by ear for 50 years and never heard of doing it with a vacuum gauge. OK I admit the last 25 of those 50 years there has been no timing to do but I still have an ear for it. I am assuming that you swing the timing until you get the maximum vacuum reading? - That would correspond with the maximum idle revs before the engine hunts from over-advance, I do that by ear but critically you must then swing the timing back to the point where the revs just start to fall again and lock the distributor at that point, if you set it to maximum vacuum it will be over-advanced which can be catastrophic for the last generation of Kettering ignition vehicles with their lean burn mixtures. Setting the timing by ear on an early 6 volt VW air cooled engine results in far better performance and economy but the engine will not start the solution is to wire in a latching relay to the ignition circuit with a push button latching circuit, you crank the engine which will turn vigorously without the ignition working against it and shout "CONTACT!" out the window when you press the button, preferably wearing an Erwin flying jacket and Biggles scarf 😀
  35. Hello, welcome to the forum. Strongly suggest that you do careful research on possible engine issues with the Twin Chargers. Find out engine model (possibly E888 Gen2 or 3?) Some E888 engines have had pretty catastrophic oil-use issues. I also recall that there were some issues with DSGs.
  36. Beauty’s, My old Y Plate 1.8t is still going strong up here localish to me
  37. That would make sense because the file structure is different than than MIB1/MIB2 downloads. There's usually 2 root folders & 1 file. - MIB1 - MIB2 .Textfile (can't remember the name)
  38. as above, get the smoke maker out of it first. and then see how it runs. I imagine it will still be a bit **** though, as all that excess black stuff will have clogged the vanes. agri-spec has to be one of the worst trends that came into the car scene 🙄 and yeah, there is a guide on the Mr Muscle Oven Cleaner turbo cleaning technique, it does work 😂
  39. Impossible to say whilst the Fleabay Chip mod is still in place.
  40. It's condensate, these engines suffer quite bad with it.
  41. You can still get these from main dealers, I got one 6 months ago, and they are still priced at about £1.
  42. You don't need new cap, just the seal that goes around it - original PN is 047103487
  43. Are they?? But CO2 is a good gas as well and essential for lots of things in the plant and also aquatic life and the more we chop down forests, burn them and give up the land to becoming large slabs of concrete and tarmac etc, the worse we will be as a result of an increase in CO2 as more plants which thrive on it and give us back oxygen, will be lost.
  44. At least with the non 4x4 you don’t have to do Haldex oil changes and filter cleaning (I believe dealers don’t clean the filter but should). Even though the 4x4 would be better for towing if it didn’t have factory fitted tow bar then the car could overheat when towing because factory fitted then means bigger fans I believe
  45. Sorry I completely forgot where I live. Of course you are right. Thank you for correcting me.
  46. I hope both my memory and the description are good enough! I think you are right to leave the angle drive gearbox connected, yes it's heavier but I could see nothing but inconveniences and risks through detaching it, risk of oil seal failure, need for a long reach special torx tool etc.
  47. Skoda Citigo 85 SE 2018 with 175 65 14 Vredestein Quatrac 4 on. Now on the car for the second winter season as I run Conti's in the summer. Car does 10K+ miles per year with the all season on for less than 5K miles PA. No problem with them. Would recommend them if you asked me. I also run a Fiat Panda JTD 2009 with them on since 2016. Also no problem. Ran Dunlop winters from 2010 until 2016. Car owned from new and now at 133K miles. If the Hankook's work for you then stick with them. I only fit Asymmetrical tyres to my cars for various reasons. I am further South than you. North Dorset, Rural area. Thanks. AG Falco
  48. Greetings to all! I have an update!!! I literally changed it all. Distribution kit, oil pump and belt. Using Motul Oil 5w30 with vag 507 specs. if it was worth it? Not at all! Stay still. Don´t waste your money. The noise continues, but far less, and goes way much sooner. I checked the old oil pump and just by turning it, it´s very noisy, especially the vacuum part. The best option it´s to live with it. I have made peace with it. Please don´t make the same mistake, likei did. My car now have 54.600 Km. Regards
