  1. Burning the junk mail - about as close to an actual fire as I'm allowed nowadays! Find the Slo-mo effect on my phone mesmerising 😵‍💫 20250202_184731.mp4
  2. It reminds me of the Tales of the Unexpected intro The Moon and Venus tonight .............
  3. Ok, put the front wheels straight, then put the steering wheel as straight as you can get it, noting that it might well not go perfectly straight. If this is too hard, and any further communication beyond a "thank you" will be taken as meaning that it is, contact a garage with steering alignment equipment and a reputation for being able to use if.
  4. Stephen Fry has fielded a joke (not very PC) :- Elon Musk is not a Nazi ! Nazis made very good cars !! Ferdinand Porsche and his company were quite accomplished engineers hard to deny.
  5. Never ending pain. Timing belt and water pump done. Little drama here, water pump was poor so well I changed it, no clue when it was last changed so atleast I'll be starting from "now". Building all back up. I even took some time to paint up the tinware, it won't last but I tried. So last thing to do, just about was the oil pickup tube. Pulled out the lower gearbox bolts, soaked in oil, odd. Cracked the sump taking it off, typical. Also damaged the rear main seal, if it wasn't leaking before it is now, so needs replaced, which means box off... Again... On the bright side, This engine looks spotless, I'm about 80% sure it's either been refreshed or it's a much lower mileage unit than the vrs was (given the rust on the outside, I'm leaning towards being the original vrs lump was stripped and rebuilt at some point.). Especially how clean the head looked, this is quite the fresh engine atleast. Have a new pickup tube here, though it's not blocked, there is scuzz stuck into the corner so ultimately glad I'm replacing it. Considering I bought this with a blown turbo, it's well I had a look. Been amassing parts to do the rear main seal, and fix what I've broke. -New gearbox bolts from darkside. -New sump -RMS on the way -Rear main seal tool -Solid shifter bracket bushes -New metal coolant pipe on route (not related) -Magnetic sump bung (see blown turbo) Put one of those in the monte on its most recent service (November?) anyway, it's soon due for another so we'll see how much **** it's picked up. Clutch alignment tool I've to get, atleast I'll have it. All things considered, parts are silly cheap so I'm not too worried. And atleast I'm not paying for my own labor.
  6. Hi all. Can you store second key long term without battery? Will it reset itself or will it work ok lets say year or two without a battery? Thanks.
  7. @wyx087 They should be efficient being the lightest and lowest but my one certainly was not and that was the smaller battery so lighter. That was why i went for it. It did have 17" wheels / tyres and not the narrower 16". (And i had All Seasons or winter tyres on.) It was not good the first week i had it on the Primacy 4,s it came with. So i seriously doubt what it shows there. Maybe the more power helped and they changed how they regen with the bigger battery. The efficient Stallantis car back 2 years ago was the Citroen C4 on 18" wheels. I tried one and it was easy to get more miles per kWh.
  8. I see Venus is still on VHF ...
  9. You don't have anything to say about Corsa being 4th?
  10. I can vouch for that. We had cream leather in the Karoq and stopped wearing jeans when we went out in the car. It did clean up fairly well though. Leather in the Elroq is black so hopefully jeans will still be allowed.
  11. Must say the leather seats I currently have in my Karoq are so extremely comfortable. However the cream leather does mark easily with dark blues trousers or jeans.
  12. The first 280 are great, but those last two are magnificent!
  13. I went for Suite, mainly because we have our 2 Labs in the car and leather is easier to keep clean. We've had 2 x Yetis and a Karoq with leather and they were great. We also had an Octy Scout which was a brilliant car. It had Alcanterra which was really hard wearing. We have a Volvo XC40 at the moment with Micro Suede which looks like Alcanterra, but certainly isn't as sericeable. I think the Sportline is Micro Suede so I guess Alcanterra isn't on the market any more.
  14. No, the gauge should stay at 90 also during a regen.
  15. Cheers. To be honest the more I read (especially around fault codes relating to a specific injector being symptomatic of a wiring issue) the more it seems - or am I hoping? - that the wiring loom is at fault. Especially as my symptoms can be traced back six months or so at a low level before going in December. The new fuel injector smoothing the idle may be a red herring, as the loom will have been disrupted/moved. Anyway will update after the specialist inspection.
  16. Starting to lean towards the Alpine A290, just the mild trim of 180 hp. Price is not a huge amount more than the 150 hp R5 but seems to be much more attractive. Renault UK already doing £555 off the R5s, finance good but not great ie 5.5 % APR, I got 4.9 % on the Scenic. Maybe better finance deals about if interest rates are cit this week ahead as expected.
  17. What interior did everyone chose? I went for the basic loft because I think it looks the nicest. I like the green stitching.
  18. What I meant was, is it off when the boot is closed, not when you subsequently re-open it. So if switched on, does the act of opening the boot turn it both on (open) and off (closed). G
  19. I've got Heko wind deflectors on my RS they were relatively cheap and you can often find them on eBay for about £35. Are they any good? I find that they don't stop rain drips but when it's raining and I want fresh air I can have it without getting wet. Roof bars I don't have as I have a hatchback.
  20. You're in the world of German marques, very (over?) complex intertwined computer programs, the more recent the vehicle the more complex things get. Is the OBDEleven up to the job, I don't know, do you need to go to another level with or on the OBDEleven, again I don't know. I'm not sure all the detail in that list is strictly necessary but if it works it works, as tyre is spelt the American way I wonder if its from a Yanky car which may have variations to the programs, for example emission regs and testing some states have, but I don't even know if they use OBDEleven other there all my comments are of a general nature. There's a video, and series of videos, of a young chap sorting out the dash on a crashed Fabia and his scan tool automatically gives him a reset code (for something) that is required, presumably a reset code is required because the vehicle has been in a crash, a safety measure I'd guess. If I can find the video I'll post a link but don't hold your breath as I've no idea what search terms to use to get it anywhere near the top of a Google search as I'm not buying anything. A note, your phone shows one bar on the battery, I've no idea how long that lasts but as I cautioned before you don't want either the car battery or the scan tool battery to be low in power otherwise potentially there can be computer brain-farts and you don't want to run of of power before you have completed the job and potentially have to start all over again and perhaps sort out additional issues from the power drop. By then perhaps one bar lasts a very long time but you'd not start what potentially could be a long journey with your car's fuel tank very low. I wonder if you might need to ask about this in the 'Diagnostics & VCDS' forum and hope someone sees your post that knows OBDEleven use well or crash repairs using scan tools. - https://www.briskoda.net/forums/forum/23-diagnostics-amp-vcds/ Good luck, keep going and reporting back.
  21. Skoda Dealer price will be £12k+
  22. I must say that I'm getting used to it but it still sounds somewhat muffled on midrange in comparison. My current settings are negative treble, negative but a bit higher mid, and bass at +4. This way all music sounds more or less ok to me. There is a chance that something in my car's system is wrong and I would continue investigating further if I haven't seen similar feedback from other mk3/Canton owners. But you guys seem so happy with it that I now have this urge to find the same car in my city to compare the sound. Tried pretty much everything. My main source is YouTube Music via wired CarPlay, it offers the lowest bitrate out of the main music streaming apps (and I just noticed that my quality settings where set to Normal lol — will check with the highest!), but Spotify and Apple Music essentially sound similar. At least it doesn't solve the problem. I still have my old BMW and can compare the same music from the same source side by side: no settings or source could make Canton sound as good as the BMW audio. I admire your dedication 😁 You are not alone. There must be a good reason why BMW put subs under front seats in most of the trims :))
  23. Fuse number 27 is "Audio amplifier" ? It maybe that?
  24. Gents thanks very much for the tips here! I'll definitely get the drains checked! That's the one! I thought I was being cheeky with the cambelt and DSG but you never know!
  25. Nights are getting lighter 🚴👍
  26. Thanks, Seriesdriver. That helps a lot as I like to keep a full tank always. Guess the Staff at the petrol station and I are gonna be on first name terms soon 😂
  27. Until about two years ago, VAG UK recommendation was 5 years or xx,000 miles, so a ten year old car could feasibly have had two cam belts. The new recommendation is 140,000 miles with no time limit.
  28. This is the label from my 1.2 petrol.
  29. Found this on parts in motion website RH6085 341mm length,99mm dia, 10mm thick RH6402 343mm length,96mm dia,10.3mm thick RH6086 342mm length,96mm dia,10mm thick RH5537 364mm length,111mm dia.11.8mm thick Can't guarantee the above is correct as its just pulled from a website and not the manufacturer. I once changed the springs on our old fiesta and was sold the VAN version without realizing. It ended up looking like a hotrod the rear end was so high and drove like a spacehopper. It was hilarious to look at and drive. Might be worth trying RH6402 as their slight thicker and just slightly longer depending on what you have fitted. A quick phone call to your local skoda dealer as well and see if there is an oem heavy duty option or what should be fitted to yours. As said folks 1.9tdi ambiente must have had HD springs as they carried a huge weight and never had a problem.

The car is 10 yrs old but had only done 2000 miles when I bought it! Yes that is right two thousand. BUT - I HAD THE SEATS CHANGED with another yeti as the drivers set had problems with the clips INSIDE the back of the seat digging into me. The replacement seats have done 60 thousand miles. Feels fine to start with. They are cloth. I am 5’6” begining to think it might be something to do with my leg length and the height of the pedals ?

I use indicators - on 2 wheels and 4 - less than most road users, because I don’t drive like a robot so pride myself on only indicating if there is another road user who may benefit from my indicator. And that includes a dog walker at the side road I’m about to turn in. Especially on a bike, you’re Gone before the dozy box drivers know your there. ps - not having a dig at you in any way
  33. When was your car manufactured? Ask the dealer if they can find out whether anything has changed in the manufacturing process and if active regeneration has been introduced on gasoline engines.
  34. Until now, I have driven 10,000 km without any issues, except for the DCC noise. I haven’t had any problems with the particulate filter, nor have I seen anyone else experience this issue. I understand that your car is new and that you picked it up just a few days ago. I suggest you go to the dealer to have them check what the problem is. You have a new car, and the particulate filter warning shouldn’t appear.
  35. Suzuki Swace (aka Toyota Corolla Touring Sport) - last of a model as Suzuki are going SUV or electric only, so I bought for a huge discount. I test drove and wasn't expecting to like it to be honest - er whoops. I was amazed I fitted ok as I'm 6ft 4" tall, it's a low car but basically I was incredibly comfortable with seat on the lowest setting and my elbows were perfect re arm rests either side(I usually bash against the B pillar of most cars - hence my previous need of a Superb). However my favorite bit is the way the Toyota hybrid gubbins drives - it's not for everyone but it really suits my driving style. Eco mode keeps engine revs low (when it runs!) but pulls surprisingly well when you need it. Setting off or pulling out of corners on country lanes quite addictive as it really winds up with petrol and electric combined. Economy is stunning but both the Swace and Corolla have very pessimistic fuel gauges - Theoretically it has a 43l tank but I rarely get much more than 30l in when it's showing circa 30 miles to go. Not so much of a problem though as you get about 450 miles on that (less in winter, more in summer). Another Selling point for us was the 596l boot that's about the same length as the one we had in the Superb.
  36. Cold the afternoon but a glorious sunset..........
  37. It was glorious first thing, although I came a cropper on Black ice! Happily no damage 👍
  38. Here she is. Quietly understated. Just how I like them ♥️
  39. Part whatever it is now: Breaking tidbits edition Starting off with something completely unrelated: the cigarette lighter plug broke off my tyre pump. I try not to pull by the cable, so not entirely sure how I snapped it off (and in true me tradition, I forgot to take a ‘before’ photo – so enjoy this photo of the pump instead) Re-soldered the connectors back on, probably more stronger than they came out the factory now on to the boot light. So for a while now the boot light was on-and-off depending whenever it felt like, which is a little troublesome when at night as my boot becomes a lucky dip, and gets really exciting whenever I reach in and feel something wet. Annoyingly, it didn't look easily repairable without snapping the plastic or metal, despite having a standard W5W bulb inside, so I ordered some cheap knock off on eBay However it turned out that it wouldn’t fit I am amazed by how cheap knock off parts can consistently fail to fit properly no matter how simple of a part it is the good idea fairy came along and shown me that I could just tear off the metal cover and shove a regular bulb inside. The light hasn’t had issues so far so just gonna leave it without the cover until something happens And finally, one day I was wiping the windscreen and accidentality snapped off the ticket holder Ordered a new one, only costs a singular pound Removed the A pillar, crossed my fingers for the metal tabs not to snap the plastic, unscrewed the broken clip, then finally found out how to remove the speaker as the tabs aren't exactly designed for people with hands. Since the order for a tab took a bit to come in, had to drive around without the pillar, basically making my car a stripped out race car for the time being. Also decided to tidy up my dash cam cable while I was at it.
  40. All these years later and I still have a thing for Fantasy Green. Currently have: 1.4 8v Estate bought 10/11 years ago and already pictured on this thread. 1.9 SDI which is rough but plods along happily on 185k miles. 1.4 16v Elegance with the AWESOME Mystic Beige interior option! the Elegance is the only Fantasy Green one I’ve come across in 14 years. So what with the fancy interior I had to get it about 4 years ago. It’s been fettled over the last few years and is now in great shape!
  41. To fair to Skoda Waze is not integrated into the car systems as it is coming from your phone. I agree it it as bit of a fiddle but as noted the messages will self clear anyway. Waze is still way better than Skodas mapping and they also want to charge for what they call traffication - the real time updates Waze gives for free.
  42. Hope you don’t mind me indulging. Been working on a Victorian gatehouse for a couple of years now, with the roof taking up a large chunk of that time. My son and I have been working with a slater, sorting, holing and cutting bullets out of Welsh slate. The slater does the final sorting and fixing to the roof. The bullets are all done and the last few slate are going on Monday with the roof all completed by the end of next week. We are really pleased with how it’s turned out, with lots of compliments from the locals, though less so from other trades people.. “what you doing all that fancy crap for?..” Still got a way go go with the whole project but another milestone reached.
  43. Just installed a rear dash cam on a 2023 kodiaq. Ended up going down the A pillar (same as the hardwire kit on the other side), down the edge of the door seal, then there's a break on the trim that's easy to separate where you can then head towards the carpet but tuck the wire under the trim here across the bottom of the driver seat. Continue under the trim and up under the rear seat trim. Behind the rear seat near the trim is a removable clip that you can tuck the wire under and continue under the carpet leading into the boot. Again, continue along underneath the carpet where again, there is a break in the trim that with a bit of effort will come apart just enough to be able to cross the cable over into the boot seal where you cancthrn continue to tuck in leading the cable up into the overhead and install as required.
  44. Re the battery maybe at fault, I bought one of the testers below, it's been invaluable for the three cars I've used it on recently. Also I had a SEAT that started throwing up random fault codes, the battery was 4 to 5 years old so I didn't think it could be that, car started fine and all that. I was wrong, my local garage tested the battery and the diagnostics picked up the same faults that I picked up from my simple OBD2 reader. He then said battery test, after the test it showed it was weak, yes it would charge but not hold a full charge. Anyways new battery solved that problem, no more codes thrown up. I then bought the linked gizmo to test myself the various batteries I had. It worked on a Mazda battery, showing it was weak and needed replacing, that was 9 years old but still doing a decent job of starting the car, I replaced it anyway. My Kamiq has thrown up codes, mainly the SOS one, battery tested and all good. That SOS message seems to be a thing with some VAG cars I've read, software update maybe which I've not got around to having checked. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/372436652444?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=vrAwd99DT4i&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=PjrX0wOKTfG&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
  45. You can try it. I have never done it, as I go to the dealer for those things since my car has a prolonged warranty.
  46. Less than a fiver from aliexpress: https://vi.aliexpress.com/item/1005007495098631.html
  47. Yes, I have done this (though not on a Kodiaq). My advice is to route your cables low, and then you won't have to worry about the dashcam cable fouling the side curtain airbags which fire down from the headlining over the windows.
  48. I've managed to fix this. Maybe this would help someone. No matter what I tried I couldn't execute first adaptation but I could run compressor manually from tests module. I've started compressor test and reseted whole Auto HVAC module. After restart everything worked fine.
