  1. We have just ordered a new Karoq, you don't get any paperwork in the garage, but everything is online. You should have an email marked Digital Deal File with copies of everything.
  2. To clarify my previous comments relating to the Luton airport car park fire. While diesel vehicles can catch fire getting diesel fuel to actually ignite is far more difficult. There has to be a very high heat source first. Just saying https://www.bedsfire.gov.uk/about-us/london-luton-airport-review As a result of the investigation, all evidence points to the most probable cause being an electrical fault or component failure, which started in the engine bay of the vehicle whilst it was in motion. The developing fire spread to other components, and whilst the owner of the vehicle attempted to fight the fire, the vehicle became overrun with flames and spread to other parked vehicles. A few years back a woman stopped her Vauxhall Zafira outside of our house on the way to taking her child to school, she got out of the car with her child and was talking to someone on her phone about a problem with the car. A few moments later the car went up in flames. The fire was caused by a well known fault with the vehicles heater control.
  3. I think this is a big deal. I'd be tempted to ensure that all vehicles (EV or not) had a mechanical means of opening the door. Yes, have your fancy buttons and electric door opening and closing etc, but in an emergency, people need to be able to get out of the vehicle mechanically, not relying on an electronic release.
  4. And yet car parks show no inclination to limit or perscibe if or where EVs park in car parks. Recently parke in Luton airport multistorey, where the diesel land-rover started the fire, and no hint of measures. They should have fire suppression systems but few car parks do of course.
  5. After nearly 8 years of largely troubled-free motoring in my Superb, the time has come for a change. I have purchased a 22 reg 4x4 L&K 2.0 TDI Kodiaq through HeyCar. Am expecting delivery on Monday afternoon. Have part-ex’d the Superb for what I think was a pretty good price. Can’t wait to get behind the wheel on the ‘new’ beast. First thing I will do is fit my DTUK Pedalbox to it as I would imagine that the Kodiaq’s throttle response will be as sluggish as the Superb’s was. Have booked it in for a towbar fit on the 17th so will be all ready to go when the caravanning season starts!
  6. There is still a chance though you will make it in time..i think a lot depends how smoothly things go at the port...fingers crossed.
  7. That's harsh. I really hope they manage to pull a rabbit out of a hat. I only have it on the dealer's advice that the car must be physically in the UK for it to be registered.
  8. There's more to ECO mode than you might realise. It changes the throttle response as well as the fuelling map. When driving, coasting preserves momentum as engine braking is eliminated. I find ECO mode less useful than I previously did, now I've learned to use cruise control more effectively. IMO cruise control is better for economical driving than ECO mode, though I do use ECO now and then.
  9. We just heard our car is build week 9 which is wc 24th Feb, so looking increasingly unlikely that the dealer will get it before the dreaded 1st April. I'm not sure at what point they can tax it. Would they have to wait until it arrives at the garage, or could they tax it once it's in the Country and cleared Customs? It's frustrating that a day can cost an extra £2k in RFL in the first 6 yrs
  10. Go straight to checking the wiring in the rubber bellows between door and A-pillar.
  11. @Graham Butcher I am mocking you and others that continually go on about a known known. The experts and non experts that seem to think if you keep saying something is unsafe is making the slightest difference. Jaguar EV of a certain age are being scrapped and other others will be, and people will look for compensation and still while this goes on the risks are what they are.

I think it's quite easy - very few peaople have time today to ready all the threads, especially if someone opens a new thread instead of posting a message in one of existing threads of the same topic. I can honestly say I react only if somebody pings me like @PetrolDave did. I sent you donwload link on PM.
  13. The other dealer has told me this is a typical "scare tactic" and not to be concerned as it isn't true they can charge me such a fee. Same with the £250 deposit apparently it isn't legal for them to withhold it. Not keen on dealing with the original dealership now, even if they can match the deal I've got, we've not had good communication from the start and the saving on other car is due to it being shown room stock so available immediately.
  14. It might be as simple as a failing ABS sensor. Such a failure will give you an alarming multitude of faults - which are all related to the control systems not having the right wheel info from the sensor. A scan will quickly identify if you are lucky to have this (easily sorted) fault. But if it's already been to the dealer he should have spotted this. Battery health is worth checking yourself - it may well start but a dying battery gives all sorts of strangeness to modern cars. Sitting around waiting for repairs may have done it no good. Knowing what the Cat N damage was might point you to areas of concern - front or back shunt, say? Good luck. Your dealer doesn't sound that helpful.
  15. Thanks. I will try that, but enough about me. What about the car?
  16. Find a local car trimmer, these guys can work wonders and can usually match the original upholstery if it needs replaced or can just re foam as needed. Worth a search.🙂
  17. I would guess it was one of the last pre-edition models. AFAIK the edition models started being built araound Oct 24. My SEL was built in Aug and is certainly pre-edition so doesnt have electric tailgate or ACC. Not sure I'd want elec tailgate anyway seeing some of the problems reported on here with wires breaking!
  18. elah, why not ask the dealer to match the lower price you have been given? Tell them, they would then keep you as a customer for the future. If you don't ask....... Time to talk with the dealers. Maybe the Manager?
  19. Found a source for Skoda Technical Manuals. Much better details that the Haynes manual, and on page two of the downloads, the 0A8 gearbox manual is available. Free File Hosting Made Simple - MediaFire
  20. New car orders are problematic when "NEW" models are coming out and customers place a factory order. The build date can be after the model ordered has stopped production. My MIL once ordered a Peugeot automatic (cannot remember the model) when she collected it there was no gear stick or handbrake lever. Gear lever was now a dial and the handbrake was a pull up switch compared to the car she sat in at the showroom. Some Salesman are clueless
  21. That would save a few pounds! I hope they're right.
  22. Oh, here are my garage measurements: From ground floor to roof floor it is 2,52m. Width from wall to wall is 7,01m Depth from garageport to wall is 7,5m Since floor to roof floor (attic floor) is only 2,52cm it i too low to have a 2 post lift. Thats why I have a scissor lift since lifting height is 1,05cm. In other words, I have just enough clearence to the attic floor when I max out the scissor lift with a superb mk2. Actually, I have enough space to even lift my Audi Q7 Etron almost max lifting height. Standard floor to roof in norway is approx 2,40m, but in the garage I added 10cm. Should have had it to 3,5m if you ask me. That would have been ideal for a small 2 post lift.
  23. Well done, always nice to hear of a good secondhand part solving a problem. 👍
  24. I had an email reply from Skoda parts where the chap seemed to think the Elroq still came with the connector for dashcam in the rearview housing so i guess within a few seconds of sitting in the dealer demo i will know for sure.
  25. I was put onto Hatchbag just as I left Yeti ownership. I managed to get an ex-demo liner for my Audi A3 6 years ago and I cannot fault it. They are well wort the money and will be my first purchase when I renew the car. Premium fit Skoda Yeti Boot Covers|Hatchbag Colin
  26. Fitted an alternator that I picked up from a breakers yard, and problem solved! No more traction control light and lumpy idle Thank you again.
  27. I'm certain that it is a legal requirement in UK for the purchaser to be supplied a copy of any contract, what was the reason given by dealer for you not being supplied with one?
  28. Pre-facelift cars have DRLs down low, in the same light clusters as the fog lights. Neither are LEDs as standard, although I have successfully replaced the DRL bulbs with canbus-compatible LEDs, which look much better than the yellow halogens. I’ve also tried replacing the fogs (which also operate singly when the steering wheel turns or when indicating), but without success: either the ones I bought weren’t truly canbus-compatible, or I suspect they fade on and dim off by varying the voltage and the LED bulbs don’t work properly when dimmed - they raise a bulb fault. On facelift cars, the DRLs are LEDs that are integrated with the headlight units. The facelift was around late 2012 or early 2013 I believe. It sounds like the OP is confusing the DRLs on a pre-facelift car. They come on when the headlights are off, and extinguish when the headlights are on, either manually or in auto.
  29. Hi, I have a 2024 Scala which has a similar problem. I use a moisture absorbing packet on the dashboard which helps, but it is still a minor problem. I hope this reply helps.
  30. Nobody is saying that diesel cars don't burn, least of all me, I have already said that I have seen diesel buses catch fire, but as Peter Harding showed in his video it does indeed take a massive about of heat to actually catch fire in the first instance. In the case of diesel dripping onto a hot exhaust pipe, it just tends to evaporate rather quickly than burn. You can have the entire contents of huge diesel fuel taker dumped onto the road surface and there is no risk of streams of fire running along the gutter and into the drains. Try the same trick with a petrol taker and you have a highly undesirable situation of huge explosion and massive fireball as a single spark is enough to set it of. The reason why when there is diesel spillage on the road, that the authorities shut the road, is not because of fire, but the fact that diesel is extremely slippery and they have to recover the road surface from the effects of the diesel, e.g., massive amounts of sand is used to soak it up and also provide grip to other road users after the worst has been dealt with. You can often see where diesel has been spilled on the road by the sand that the fire brigade or councils spread across the road in order to get the road open again as quickly as possible.
  31. 215/55/17 winter wheels on my 280 as well. Picked up a set of nearly new Tiguan wheels for £160. The improvement in ride and noise is huge compared to the 19s I have as well.

    @pab567 Any ideas?
  33. For more than a couple of decades we have cars that anyone double locked in can not even get out of the car without breaking a window or sunroof. Or anyone in to get them. Groundhog day here again. Does nobody read the threads they pop in and out of, and use the brains they were born with?

  35. Having had the car in at the garage last week to be told the 12v battery issue was fixed by an over the air update, they were wrong. even though I have had the car 14 months I am back to telling Skoda I am rejecting the car.
  36. Yes missed out the 01. Local motor factors are very good. They said as its a PD engine its reccomended. Alasdair
  37. I think it's more likely the control software for the charging circuitry is poorly designed.
  38. I don't fully understand your question but I can tell you that when car is stationary and not in gear, the ecu will not allow you to overrev the engine. The rev limiter could be 2500 rpm on your engine.
  39. Always start with the gentlest solution or polish and certainly chemical first, if you get any result then repeat the application and see if more comes off, if so repeat and so on, if not move up a level from gentlest. Sometimes you can get so far with removal and be sealing in the remainder (depending on what you use). You could have a look in and/or post in the Styling and Car Care forum where polishing lads and lasses frequent. - https://www.briskoda.net/forums/forum/8-styling-and-car-care/
  40. Not sure it is exclusively Vodafone - my Mk4 has had a perfectly viable internet connection (satnav) in areas where my mobile (on Vodafone) had none.
  41. I've been to Locomotion museum up in Shildon this week and took lots of pics. I like these 2 I took outside and edited. Both taken with my OM10 mk3 with kit lens. Colour selected with OM Workshop, then finished in Gimp. What do you think? I can post the originals if you wish.
  42. 6 years down the line seeing how sought after Yetis are especially the 4x4 variant I am doubly proud to have saved mine from being broken for spares! If it wasn't for the help of @MikeTheThinker it could not have happened I was not to know how desirable they would become through rarity and also how much I would enjoy owning and driving it because it really wasn't and still isn't the right car for my needs but its 100% the right car for my wants, I bought it as a challenge project.
  43. I am on the original pads all round as I have only completed 24,600 miles since new in 2019. I was surpeised as I would expect to change front pads 1st but they are only 10-12% worn I am very light on brakes and would normally expect to achieve 50-60,000 mile on a set of pads. That has always been the case over many cars in my 55 years of driving.
  44. I have sportive with blacked out interior. I love it. It’s not gloomy or oppressive at all, actually find it comforting in an odd way. Or you could just say it’s extremely manly.
  45. Guys i created a subreddit on reddit for the Elroq located at r/SkodaElroq I do not have much experience on reddit but thought i would give it a go. I would appreciate you checking it out. Very quiet at moment as just started it up.
  46. New doesn't mean good. Dampers may have different damper rate. Now when we are talking about it, when I bought my car, it had some aftermarket, extremely stiff dampers with very similar behaviour that you're describing. They also had smaller body, so the front wheels had 2° camber angle. The engine mount is identical between Favorit and Felicia. The only difference is the rubber bushing, favorit's is more likely to collapse under the engine's weight. The gearbox mount is entirely different, so it's hard to say, but I doubt there is a difference. Felicia is also quite low under the bell housing, skidplates were quite popular acessory for lowered cars.
  47. No, there is no hidden message, just posted so that people can decide for themselves about the risks associated with EV cars and Tesla's in particular as both of these cars were reported as driving at speed, so were they just speeding, or were the cars in autopilot mode and become rogue, did the electronic door handles also play a part in the deaths as has been mentioned before, particularly with Tesla's that there is no mechanical internal door release mechanism, nor is there is there so it seems, any direct linkage from the external door handles, meaning that in the event of the handles not working, smashing windows is the only option and with those windows being laminated, is harder to do than you might think I have since updated that post with a 2 further video reports.
  48. You could spend 7€uros and spend an hour on Erwin.de and download all the manuals/wiring diagrams
