  1. A visit to the heart of Snowdonia yesterday…
  2. Slowish pan at 1/20th sec. Cameras electronics kept the car nice and sharp.
  3. All cars seem to be getting hellish expensive in my experience... There's no way I'd buy new these days and even second hand prices seem daft at times for the mileages quoted.
  4. I think Harry has nailed the EV vs ICE car debate here I agree there should never have been a mandate to enforce the switchover. EV's definitely have a place, although hybrid, petrol and diesel do also and the ultimate choice ought to be with the consumer. The appetite for EV only appears to be muted outside the EU and UK it seems, and with the new administration in the US opting out of green energy targets will presumably be Stateside too? It would appear Toyota, Honda and Mazda may have been somewhat visionary in not rushing to embrace an EV only range. https://youtu.be/Vhi7zldGjBo?si=mAGzz3n8pzbqA5Cn As battery technology changes, which it might with solid state etc, then an EV might become an economically viable option for more individuals. There seems to be a fixation in the UK and across Europe that EV's should be the only option for a new car from 2030/2035 onwards which I've never agreed with. As ever he gives a very reasoned overview and his video is worth a watch if you have a spare 20 minutes or so (I tend to listen rather than watch in the car 😉)
  5. The Ford Explorer is a Skoda Enyaq / VW ID4/5 / Audi Q4 in different clothing. I'm on my 2nd Enyaq, best car I have ever owned
  6. Finally got around to replacing my heater matrix today! Found an exact video on YouTube that matched my car, and wow, it was a lifesaver. My original heater matrix was partially blocked, and now, with the new one swapped in, it’s blowing hot air like a champ! 🥶➡🔥 Had to remove the blower motor—just three Torx screws, so no big deal. But... I unnecessarily bent a clip too much and snapped it. 😩 Oh well, it’s still solid with the screws, so I’m not stressing over it. The only thing bugging me now is the heater matrix connections. The top one clips in (see pic), and the bottom one is a push-in with a ring clamp. Never seen this clip before! When pushing the bottom one in, I got that satisfying click, but the top one? Nothing. Then I realised the clip holds both parts tightly together. Hope I got it right! 🤞 Let’s see how it goes! Uploaded some pics—no video, though.
  7. I'd say there's a good chance your son is right.
  8. Good point, I had just selected decending price, I had not looked at trim levels. Removing GTI shows 30k for "R-line", the top spec? Search available stock | Volkswagen UK Remove R-line price is up to 27k. Ford Puma (Fiasta replacement) is not cheap either: 26k to 34k. (34k is for the niche model) Ford Puma offers & promotions | Ford UK People say EV are expensive obviously haven't priced up cars in general lately.
  9. As a spray painter, I doubt it's that challenging. They can simply (and very neatly) mask the screens and rest of the car then paint the part in situ. I've personally done plenty of roofs, trims, garnishes etc. Old or new, a good sand, some primer on the plastic part and it will be as good as ever. Yes 8 yrs is actually not bad for the length of paint life on a plastic part like that. UV and heat (from sun) will kill the clear coat pretty quickly. But not a massive job to fix properly either.
  10. In my experience on my 2020 SE-L, at first the warning didn't identify the tyre concerned, but after a software update it started to do so. Did you cehck on the vehicle state graphic? The faulty tyre might be highlighted there.
  11. Do you have lots of speed 'cushions' in your area? The sort that are a pair of lumps in the road rather than a strip across the whole width. Just a thought. Straddling them with a wheel either side would over time cause this sort of wear; it happened to a friend of mine who lived in an area of south London with these sort of speed cushions on all the minor roads. He also ended up with some sort of suspension (bush) wear that might have exacerbated the problem.
  12. Good chance 5E0035820A is missing the hardware to support an RVC. At least based on this old post: https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/443780-retrofitting-a-reversing-camera/#findComment-4989995 It might worth checking with @pab567 as he tends to know most things and maybe able to suggest a replacement unit if needed

For my enyaq i downloaded the myskoda app. With your vin you then get access to the Digital certificate that gives service history and delivery specification
  14. Warm water or hot? You called it both. You really need to bring it to the boil to see it open fully, 87° is the regulated temperature at which it will barely be open. What is/are "pecs"? A typo?
  15. The sound is made by a piezo tweeter on the instrument cluster board. You could cover the hole in the top of that with some duct tape which ought to quieten it; but the trouble is that it also makes the indicator ticking noise. Personally, as an old git, I could do with that being a bit louder.
  16. No, the links I gave were from LLL parts, which gives very similar info, but isn't VIN filterable. Only the screenshot is partslink.
  17. Thanks @nta16. I did have a 2013 Ford Focus 1.0 ecoboost Titanium until the engine went kaput, currently occasionally driving a 60 plate 1.0 Ford Fiesta Titanium. I have started a separate thread for my new query - “Experience of Rapid spaceback 1.0 tsi 95 SE Sport”, with this info on. It would be 2 adults and 2 children’s mostly in the car, sometimes with luggage (if going on holiday) and occasionally a 3rd adult with luggage too. Yes, buying on condition with service/maintenance history with receipts is something I’ll be looking for. Learnt that on the Octavia mentioned above.
  18. I don't mind the passive aids, but I don't want the active ones like ACC, Lane keeping and the speed limiting by reading the road signs. I don't trust the software.
  19. Think it connects through the block connectors. Found this on here but not sure if its the same as yours. Aux earth and L plus R highlihted in green
  20. The last two pairs of Dunlop Sportmaxx's on the rear of my car did the same. Since fitted Michelin CrossClimate 2's all round and most importantly got it 4 wheel tracked at the same time. There was some adjustment available to the rear alignment and the fitter managed to just squeeze it within the specified parameters and it's been fine ever since.
  21. That's why I'm on my 5th Superb.
  22. It's an "age" thing. 30 years ago I'd have loved it, now it p1sses me off. Akin to attaching playing cards to the frame of your pushbike and into the spokes of your wheels when you were a kid.
  23. Blimey - that's hideous! I hope Renault quality has improved significantly since the days of the Laguna that my FIL had...
  24. After I lost my cool and ripped the whole thing off, I noticed a little hole on the back side of that bracket. If you insert a large screw driver in the whole it releases the bracket. I will defo remember this for a lifetime... Love the design of this bracket...
  25. Doesn't appear to be any mechanism for adjustment under that version.

I can see that taking it off might look better. Personally i would leave on as they do protect from 'Touch parkers' a bit. Rear end protection.
  28. I missed the 8 years old. Tough luck sadly. You need to pay to have the roof refinished. Sprayed, or Wrapped. Wrapped after the lacquer dealt with though.
  29. Some of these sill/cill level damaged rubbers will be due to "user misuse" from anything like forcing large sharp edged items through the door openings to high heeled shoes that have compressed/worn metal end caps on them.
  30. Yes, Also it may need little vcds coding This auto coding from the sinomart may be a little hit or miss

Hey hey dude, that's awesome, I've just had a look at some of your pics I'm loving the red man 👌👌👌

After replying to this topic, I drove the car with specific regard to road noise. It is really quite quiet. Certainly quiet enough to have a conversation at normal speech volume, even at motorway speeds.
  33. I started to notice it on my own last year, and asked about it. Also asked a master tech at Skoda who says it’s quite common. After searching around the forums it does appear to be very common. I’m just dreading the day I have to cut open the LED unit at the back to change bulbs!
  34. I was saying more from a cost point of view as the 45 profile are cheaper than the 40 without massively affecting look or ride. 245's are a good step in price over a 235 and will be a bit more draggy I'm guessing.
  35. I bought these yesterday after the arm fell off the old ones, not cheap either at 89cts 😀 What are you seeing that I am not or vice versa? I googled the part number also to hopefully avoid making a dumb comment. I am seeing a vehicle with silver paintwork and a black Plano roof or whatever they are called.
  36. Thanks for the better pictures! The hex bolts, blobby welds and plastic coating leave me pretty confident this isn't part of a modern Skoda.
  37. I agree, for anyone searching the correct trade name is Dowty made by Dowty Equipment until 1992, TSS i now the OE manufacturer.
  38. Best sump plug washer to use is a doughty seal (used on high pressure hydraulic pipes). I changed both ours to these seals on first oil change, never been changed since, covered 50k and 100k since first oil change. Gorilla mechanic had been at one of the sump plugs, with slight swarf from sump thread's. I only torque them to 25nm to avoid any stress on threads, never had a problem since.
  39. I can confirm that the Bolera does not have bluetooth as standard. Retrofitting it can be expensive. The Aux socket is "in" only, and passes the in signals to the speakers when you select Aux on the Bolero. Putting a bluetooth adapter on the Aux input (available on the back of the Bolero if you don't have it on the central console) is only the same as adding a cable and will only pass audio to the speakers and not act as a remote microphone for your phone. Also check that Aux is on your Bolero menu.
  40. @Carst-2018SKODASuperb Do you really think anyone just minding their own business in their garden or house or outside cares what your car sounds like as you pass? They probably think there is that plonker again in that taxi! Or do you want the noise for you standing around as someone drives the car past? It is never going to sound like anything nice or sporty and have someone thinking that as it goes up the road they wish they had a car that sounds like it.
  41. Might seem odd, but I don't know the servicing is necessarily all that far out. My car's a 2018 model, but was bought new by me in 2019. Transpose that to the car you're looking at and maybe it was sold in 2020, which, if it were on a long-life servicing schedule would make the 2022 service on time. This is of course conjecture on my part, but if it's the case then the next service might be due in 2024 and therefore was carried out five months overdue. Notwithstanding the schedules that Ootohere has already posted. And a brake fluid change is also going to be well overdue. I'd think it's been a company car doing distance work. If it were me, I'd go by condition, how it feels, and be prepared to walk away at the slightest concern or doubt. A high mileage car if fine if it's been well serviced, but as this one's borderline, I'd be prepared to be very critical. Maybe they'd consider extending the warranty in the circumstances to give you confidence and reassurance? Gaz
  42. Welcome to the Internet, you must be new here 😉. Seriously though, if the people who want to do DIY are allowed their opinion, then so are the people who don't. I don't think anyone was lecturing anyone in this thread - merely stating their opinions.
  43. A factory fitted tow bar might be more expensive (not twice the price) - but at least it is properly coded, doesn’t have issues with the reversing sensors, is covered under the car’s warranty, etc, etc. To some, the extra cost is worth it for the peace of mind and simplicity.

Burn the image, insert disc with unit on and ignition off, it will start the update automatically. Update takes approx. 45 minutes. However, if the disc is broken then SW upfgrade may fail and then you will need to replace it. Your unit is equipped with 30GB or 32GB IDE SSD 2.5" drive. It's not easy to find a replacement but you can use also bigger disc, e.g. 128GB (this is the cheapest one I found on ebay). Replacement is not very hard but will require the unit to be completely disassemblied. On th eother hand, in such case you can also think about replacing the unit with MIB STD2 PQ unit and then use navigation via Android Auto or Apple CarPlay - however this is quite expensive option (approx 800 EUR) so makes sense only if the car will be used for next few years.
  45. The key phrase there is IMO, there are multiple opinions all of which are right for the individual.
  46. I have to agree with @East_Yorkshire_Retrofits, the sound I like is completely different to what my brother likes and what my SO likes.
  47. There is no "best sound", it's not a one size fits all otherwise they'd lock it down and give you no adjustment It's completely down to the individuals music taste, the media source/format, the sound system in the car, your ears. There's so many variables 🙂
