  1. After just 8 months and 5k miles in the hands of a Skoda employee my Superb had seen more than it's fair share of hand car washes, water blades and dirty sponges. One week after ownership it's time to put that right. Roof before Roof After Side before Sides after All Done
  2. Sunday work on my 2011 2.0tdi cffb, 4x4. Did my intake and it was a decent job to do. Cleaned it for any carbon/soot deposits and there were some gunk inside. Replaced my injector seals as well and replaced other seals on the manifold and throttle body as well. My car doesn't habe any dpf issues due to driving conditions, but a clean inside doesn't hurt. Good for mpg and my own mind. Also cracked loose the glow plugs and greased with copper paste so they are easier loosened when replacement is due. All in all 4 hours spent in garage on a nice sunday afternoon.
  3. Your problem, as you said, is that there is no supply to the fuse. Likely causes are: 1) the upstream fuse has also blown. Sometimes happens. Check to see what other things have no supply or look for a larger fuse that has blown. 2) a corroded connection or wire in the upstream supply.
  4. Thanks Lee 👍 I've visited two local windscreen places, both of whom advertise repairs. Neither were interested and said to put up with it, or replace the screen (which funnily enough they could both do 🙄). I've ordered the Ceri-Glass kit, and will see what I can do with that. Will report back. Gaz
  5. You cannot plug in any device which needs specialist software to interface to it. This rules out splitters, printers and, oh yes, cd players.
  6. If you run out of electric power while driving, the problem is the alternator. Get your battery charged asap to save it. Batteries don't like being discharged for a long time. This charger is my favourite: https://www.ctek.com/uk/battery-chargers-12v-24v/mxs-5-0-uk No idea if a full battery will last the 22 min to the garage... Do you want to risk stranding on a motorway? Exchanging an alternator is no rocket science. Instead of picking up your car on a tow-truck, maybe your garage can fix your car where it is now?
  7. Here some info that I've found: 1st Generation (3AA/4H0 PQ/MLB): Installed at a 22-degree angle to the lateral side of the vehicle. It can detect three lanes simultaneously: on the left, right, and behind the vehicle. These sensors can track the trajectory of an approaching vehicle from behind, meaning they can warn the driver via a mirror indicator before the vehicle enters the blind spot. This is BSD (Blind Spot Detection) via SWA (Side Warning Assist). This generation supports the Rear PreCrash function, which, in the event of a potential rear-end collision, activates all preparatory safety features (closes windows, tightens seatbelts, etc.). The mirror indicators can also adjust their brightness depending on the distance to the detected object. 2nd Generation (5Q0): Mounted at a 45-degree angle and are no longer capable of predicting vehicle trajectories. BSD works independently for the left and right sides, and brightness adjustment is not available. However, the RTA (Rear Traffic Alert) function was introduced — it assists when backing out of a parking space by detecting moving objects crossing behind the vehicle (cars, pedestrians, cyclists). Due to the steeper angle, the detection range is shorter than that of the 1st generation sensors. 3rd Generation (2Q0): Also installed at a 45-degree angle but combine the capabilities of both previous technologies. While the range doesn’t quite match that of the 1st generation, it is significantly better than the 2nd. Additionally, they outperform the 5Q0 radars — they can detect guardrails, recognize up to 5 lanes, and transmit data to the front assistant camera, which helps improve the accuracy of Lane Assist.
  8. If you've wondered why stop-start sometimes does and sometimes does not work on your Skoda, then I can add to the information because I work for an OEM. If your car hasn't been driven for so long that the battery is low and it isn't sure it can re-start, it won't stop If the engine is not warmed up, it probably won't stop. Starting a cold engine needs a charged battery and warm engine. If you have the A/C on, which loads the engine, then it probably won't stop If you have a light touch on the brake pedal, it probably won't stop If you gently brake to join a queue, you did the right thing but it doesn't know. So it probably wont stop unless you increase pressure on the brake pedal. That last 'change of mind' case is about the most difficult to deal with. You as driver have so much more information than the car. Something to celebrate: you're much more intelligent than your car.
  9. It's a 20x10 Apex Deluxe from Lidget Compton.
  10. Looks really great. On a completely different subject, Lee, what sort of garage is the Superb parked in?
  11. Never ceases to amaze me how properly corrected paint has such a deep colour. Spot on.
  12. The Pirelli Cinturato All Season SF3 have proven to be effective over this winter, albeit we've not had such sustained low temperatures this year and minimum snow fall.
  13. You’re better to just connect a turn table to it but make sure the DCC is in comfort mode
  14. Mystery Blue covers all blues - doesn't it? Might also be called - Lucky Dip Blue, Random Blue, Variable Blue, Poorly Defined Blue

The only issue with that part of the world, as beautiful as it is, is that it's only beautiful for 3 months in the year. The rest of the time, it's miserable. I grew up in Moray - I'd move there tomorrow if I could. It's just, people only ever show the sunny, warm days, and don't really acknowledge that a lot of the time it is bitterly cold and wet. One of my favourite roads in the entire is an old military road that cuts about 20 miles through the Highlands. It has stunning views, some stunning road and is the epitome of what everything I love about the world. My current phone lock screen is a photo of my car, taken on that road. Anyway, it's absolutely lovely in the summer but, due to the weather, largely impassible for the other three seasons. Indeed, the snow gates are shut for winter. It's great fun up there, but it's not a private race track. Even though things are a bit different now, the conditions can be dangerous and plenty have been caught out over the years. Nobody is saying you'll starve to death, but go 45 minutes off the A roads, get a flat and you can look forward to several hours walking in the cold until someone coming home from work in their 4x4 sees you.
  16. Indeed I am. The standard LEDs on my 2020 build don't do anything other turn on and off automatically - which I have set to the max sensitivity and thankfully every time I think I should make sure the headlights are on, they already are. 👍
  17. Would prefer a superb myself, just not sure if the two baby seats and booster will fit across the back row. No one has been able to confirm this. I know an MPV will work, but they are ugly imo 😀

Mine has the Canton system. Came with the car ( I’m second owner-) happy with the system, can’t judge the normal sound system.
  19. So now you have Amundsen MIB1, with Bluetooth, with DAB, part number 5E0035874A, with USB 5Q0035726B and fortunately you don't have CANTON sound system. For display unit 5E0919605M you can use either Amundsen MIB2 5Q0035874x / 565035874 or MIB2 Columbus 3V0035020x (without SIM/LTE) or 3V0035021x (with SIM/LTE - in this case you also need to add antennas for LTE). If you woulkd like to use Apple CarPlay then you also have to replace USB port. The question is what is your budget and which of listed below features are "must have": - Video playback from DVD, USB, SD - CD playback - displaying OEM maps in Virtual Cluster (Active Info Display). Both units support SmartLink (Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, MirrorLink), rear view camera, voice command. Features that differ them: - MIB2 Amundsen - OEM navigation, no CD/DVD drive, no video playback from SD/USB, support for displaying OEM maps in Active Info Display (Virtual Cluster) - MIB2 Columbus - OEM navigation, CD/DVD drive, video playback from SD/USB, no support for displaying OEM maps in Active Info Display (Virtual Cluster)
  20. Well, thats good that you want to pep things up a little; things to consider. The EA888 engine is extremely tunable, however, what the Octavia lacks (unless you have a HALDEX system) is the ability to get that power out onto the road. I had a TSI230 (was closer to 240) - VRS and it was useless at getting the power down - just span tyres! SO - look at getting better suspension and sticker rubber is a first port of call. The standard brakes are good, but worth checking them over. Then find a reputiable VAG tuner and get a stage 1 package put on the car. For most - that will take it up to about 280-300bhp - which is usually enough. If you want or need more, then its usually a bigger turbo, intercooler and stage 2. Spec the car like the standard package for MK7 Golf R and you won't go wrong.
  21. Yes, quite a common fault. The motor which redirects the airflow has probably failed. Not a complicated job to replace. Get a scan done for the car to confirm this first though.
  22. Ar&e - applogises - I've edited my original posting to make it more pertinent to a TDI engine - not a TSI.

Tools and common sense? Apparently not. It went in on Friday for the new mirrors to be fitted. Discovered on Saturday that they’d forgotten to reconnect the internal door pull and fit the mirror glass correctly. Back down there yesterday! All good now though.
  24. Looks deliberate. Here's one off ebay

I quite like this guy, but he's a bit of a geek...
  26. Ceri pro does get good reviews. Seems to be one of only a few products that have cerium oxide. @numskull bought some cerium oxide alone, made a paste with some water and had good results. Not sure if this was just for contaminants or smoothing out scratches as well. Edit - scratches too 👍🏼
  27. I think the easiest option would be to find a portable cd player that can pair to the cars bluetooth, unless the MK4 has an aux in, which I doubt they will do these days.
  28. An adequate one is extremely cheap and widely available.

@Stonekeeper BTW the 12V socket in the boot can be made permanently live by moving the fuse just like most VAG cars if you need to run the cool-box while parked. I've done mine.
  30. My recent use of Public Chargers that Charge Place Scotland administer. I have used more than these 10 sessions but that was paid using my ElectroVerse card so does not show. About £30 with that. Also i have used TESLA Non Tesla and £20 with them, & about £50 at MFG chargers.. (n the past Month maybe 150 kWh charging at home @ 6.7 pence so £10.00 giving me 500 miles.) This CPS 10 charging sessions costing £97 gave me about 630 miles. ......................................................................................................................................... £97 if buying petrol to do 630 miles @ £6 a gallon would be the same as 16 gallons. So about the same as getting 39.3 MPG. I would be best using a PHEV and running on cheap electric for daily around home and buying petrol on trips if i was getting 45 mpg or better. I do enjoy EV driving and a MINI Electric. A bigger battery EV would reduce my use & expense of Public Charging. As it is home charging is taking me 100 miles before needing to public charging. Going 200 miles or more before needing to would mean 'Much cheapness'.
  31. I think this is a good idea. I find my 18's give too firm a ride around where I live.
  32. I heard the Ford UK MD this morning on BBC Radio 4 Wake up to Money. http://bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m0029p0t @29 minutes. The New Electric Ford Puma is arriving now into the UK. With a New Ford EV in the UK you get a FREE EV WALL CHARGER INSTALLED. *Not free really as she says if you do not need a EV Wall Charger you get a discount on the car. So you are paying to get something FREE really.* Free 5 years Servicing. Free energy for 10,000 miles a year i think she said. An 8 year battery warranty. Roadside assistance. Towed to a charger if you run out. Basic stuff then that others have already been doing. EDIT. Just looked into my local Ford Dealership which is just 1 mile away and arranged for a test drive when they have a car available. What a pity if there is just going to be black plastic shiny like this. That is a deal breaker for me. Holy crap looking in no time. (Even if a leased car.) WLTP 376 km / 233 miles. divided by 42 kW (battery size. means getting 5.5 miles to the kWh. No way Jose. We will see. 3.5 miles a kWh would be 147 miles. 4 miles a kWh 168 miles. Maybe just. ?Are you getting 10,000 miles worth of energy based on the WLTP or on real world 3.5 miles a kWh? Built in Romania. He says and shows 100 kW / 136 PS. Not the figure given in the top video. FORD show it as 123 kW. 162 ps.
  33. 232 000km/145 000miles. But glow plugs are already replaced once approx 70 000km ago/43000miles

Thanks for the replies. Noted. By the way, what I meant was that I take my car in PL to the UK once a year and perhaps in the future I will get the DSG oil changed. But not now. I didn't mean that I'd get the DSG oil changed once a year - now that is overkill!!
  35. 1 point
The DQ200 DSG,s so 7 speed dry clutch DSG,s with 2 oils, in the MCU and box have no Service Schedules, guidelines or recommendations from Skoda / VW. The oils can be changed if someone wants them, but that would need to be by someone that knows what they are doing and using the correct oils. Maybe @ 8 years / 100,000 miles or so might be when changing the oils would be worth doing. But there are people that are running ones that have never had oil changed, other than those from 2009-2012 that were part of the Service Campaign to change the Oil from Synthetic To Mineral. Started in the UK in 2014.
  36. Hi, Just curious. What does the 5Q0 have, that 2Q0 hasn't ? Nice job!
  37. Side Assist 5Q0 -> 2Q0 swap Just did it out of curiosity, so far I've only coded everything. Haven't even gone out to test it yet.
  38. Jeez VAG are stupid if this is the case. Impossible enough to get a match for the right colour, never mind possibly nit even getting the right colour 🤯
  39. @chills I'm well impressed with both it's longevity and finish now use it on the Golf as well, I buff it off after a few minutes that leaves a satin finish
  40. Did your Karoq have Matrix lights? My car does the level check, but that does have the Matrix lights.
  41. Mate, appreciate the input, but no need to get snarky. If someone’s genuinely interested in helping, they’ll ask if they need more details rather than having a dig. That’s how forums work, isn’t it? I’m not just here to get a definitive answer – I know no one can diagnose a car over the internet. But sometimes, someone with a similar issue might chime in with a useful clue, which could lead me in the right direction. That’s exactly why forums exist – to discuss, compare, and troubleshoot. If you’ve got any constructive ideas, I’m all ears. If not, maybe let the thread run its course – you never know who might have the missing piece of the puzzle.

I received my new Karoq Sportline 1.5tsi dsg7 in the beautiful Phoenix Orange colour. It's my second Karoq. Love this car! 💪

They are Satin, maybe it's just how I took the photo, they're easier to repair if I kerb it. Diamond Cut is great and looks good, but, if kerbed they can be difficult to repair. Deprnding on the severity of the damage.

Here you are, hiec is a bit of a problem format used by phones. I think Samsung also have a glitch in their compliment which doesn't help.

mine, 2019 model, purchased in september ‘24, 85000 mls at the moment, 76 at start. 1.0tsi on 18” which give a good ride, far better than the 16” which resides in the shed now, still almost brand new.
  46. The video essentially says "need better data" because data only include fatal crashes. (sounds like EV are less prone to catch fire in a crash if you want to say/assume/assert EV catches fire at same/higher rate as ICE cars) Here is the data source for another statistic that was often quoted on this forum. Is insurance data of all fire related claims (excluding theft) good enough? @Graham Butcher, surely you have the critical thinking skills to do the same as the youtuber and deeply analyse the covered car park file safety guidance (Issued July 2023). Put some evidence into your "sense". We don't need an views-driven entertainer to do this kind of thing.
