  1. Reckon we spotted a double rainbow this evening 🌈? No rain though.
  2. Going OT but yeah attitude in the industry is an issue and it doesn't matter the brand I've been treated like a king in high end dealerships and like scum in low end and vice versa. Experience can be night and day between staff at the same dealership and doesnt seem to matter how much money you have in your pocket. I've always found Honda pleasent to deal with, and the guys at Ian Grieve in Falkirk have been excellent to me in all their franchises (Suzuki, Mazda, Jeep and Subaru), I bought cars from 3 out of 4 of them (no Jeeps). We went to look at the ID3 at a local dealership in Perth, I let slip we were leasing so didn't blag a test drive. It was a young guy in a sharp suit that came up to us, normally I avoid them as they have all been to sent to 'how to sell cars school' which is really "how not to sell cars to me school", but actually he was a nice chap and no bother.
  3. Thank you nta16. I will definitely check if the cabin filter is clean, I'm confident I can do this thanks to the link you posted. I will let you know the outcome. And thank you otohere for pointing out the capabilities of the cars A/C. Maybe I will look into getting some high quality tints to reduce the heat getting in to help the A/C when temperatures get higher.
  4. I can confirm that the metainfo.txt is definitely NOT needed so that's not your issue. I've never used it when I've updated my Amundsen MIB2 maps and I've never had an issue so your problem must lie elsewhere. I know this is obvious but I will re-iterate the following just in case. Firstly, with an Amundsen unit you can only use an official Skoda/VW sd card to use the map and this sd card must be kept in the unit permanently. Other sd cards won't work unless you perform a hack using the MIB2TOOL. Secondly, only the extracted folder named " maps " should be on the sd card. Thirdly and finally, your issue may be due to corrupted data. I've always used WinRAR to extract the map downloads and you should extract the folder to your pc NOT directly to your sd card. Once its been extracted to your pc then copy the " maps " folder to your formatted sd card. This is assuming that you're using a Windows PC - it's well documented that a linux system will sometimes add files to the extracted folder and cause issues. Also bear in mind that the Skoda Update portal is notorious for hosting corrupted map downloads. You're better off using the VW map links posted in this forum. They're usually 6 or 7 months ahead of the Skoda releases and are exactly the same maps but are renamed by Skoda. The links are here:
  5. Check all the pipework from the turbo to the inlet manifold.
  6. There's a strong possibility that the relevant wire has broken, in the bellows where the wiring enters the tailgate.
  7. I did wonder why you've been posting less tbh, Mike. Hoping it's nothing too distracting. I've also wondered why JR hasn't been on in a while.
  8. I used a copy of this MSTD_EU_SK_P6230 MU0490 if anyone else needs, the site I think I had it from was mibsolution.one is currently down though. I was wary of the copy I had and passage of time, but it worked fine installed, I just have to clear the fault code ( have odbeleven but pro ran out and doesn't cover the adaption by looks of it) Excuse the state of my interior I don't use the car that much and could use a vaccuum.
  9. As title... Should have offset the badge like this though IMO as a nod to the GTX

  11. My 1.5 Sportline did 60 miles from new before I changed from 19 inch to 17 inch with 215/55 R17 Continental All Season 2. The result is a better ride over potholes etc. The trade off is that the steering isn't quite as precise, but I am happy to live with that. Personally I also think the car looks better with more tyre on show Life is all about compromises

Hi, OEM P/N for cabin filter on a MY2017 Mk3 is 5Q0 819 653 Than you can find several ones complying with this ref. Depending on the manufacturer, you can sometimes find ones with activated carbon. I usually go Bosch, or Valeo.

If it's the same as the 2016 model then the glovebox is held by two rubber stoppers that bump against the glove box surround - you can see them if you open the glovebox as far as possible then look towards the back of it. Squashing them out of the way one at a time will let the glovebox drop forwards - the soft close arm just slips out of it's mechanism automatically.
  16. Yeap I realised you meant rally cars but as you say there are a few pretend rally cars on the road with these orangy tint reflective windscreens bit like those that have the seat so low their buttocks must be kissing the carpet and their nose on the steering wheel, lowering the centre of gravity of heavy old buses like Golfs. When we were lads I knew one that used to sit on cushions on the drivers seat, he looked taller than he was, don't know why as he didn't need much of an excuse to get into a fight at any time but it did look funny to us following behind him each in our own cars. Until we all couldn't afford to put £1.50 of petrol in each of our cars at a time and started sharing driving and passenger seats (cushions not allowed) 😄
  17. I had some lying around from when we had some hard flooring done, its for the bottom of chairs/tables etc, only cut a small square for near the edge.

  21. It's a support for the handbrake cable. There should be another one on the other side if you want a pattern to look at when you're refitting it
  22. A bit more: rootling around in AliExpress I think I've found a supplier for the clip. I've ordered the part and now waiting with bated breath to see what turns up in a few weeks time. I'll let the forum know the outcome
  23. My father in law came to the rescue with some nylock bolts. Finally managed to fit them. I noticed the brackets that bolted to the bonnet were quite sharp, so I added some adhesive felt to the back of them before I bolted them on.
  24. Climatic wotsit heating/cooling does throw another variable in especially if your wife is, in my opinion, fortunate enough not to have this less-than-wonder feature in her 10 year old Fabia. It hacks me off enough that the air-con switches on without my bidding when I change flow direction settings, far too much interference with the driver operating the controls and driving the car on a 2015 car, let alone 2024! If I remember (!?) if I use my wife's car next Friday, although I avoid going outside too much when it's too sunny and warm (hot) for me (my old neighbour called me Dracula because when the sun was out I was in) I'll try to remember to take the thermometer and see what sort of difference I get from outside cabin to inside with air-con on (usually at second speed on fan blower), that's if I remember.
  25. Hi, If youŕe not afraid to deal with a Dutch company I would recommend electronic4cars.nl , seven years ago they did repair my Columbus very well, it functions still today.

  27. Congratulations to Ferrari (privateers ) and well done Robert Kubica and also the young Brit Phil Hanson, for winning le Mans. If only TNT hadn't removed my viewing of it (I had a nice cheap Eurosport package)and trying to hold me to ransom of around £30+ a month for the privilege of watching it :(
  28. Welcome. I will ask a Mod to move your post to the Mk2 Superb section where someone might be able to help.
  29. Hi otohere. I probably didn't explain clearly what I was trying to say. I don't want my inside car temperature to be as cold as a fridge, about 20 would be acceptable. The point I was trying to make was that 9.7 at the vent on a cold day is not going to be much use on a day when it's 28/30 degrees outside, as it will take forever to cool the cabin. Many thanks for your input
  30. A reasonable point, the computers will be calculating with interior and exterior temperatures. Or those that they think they are, my wife's Fabia outside temperature can show a lot higher than the air temperature and takes a while of driving to sort itself out (neither "smart" or "Simply Clever" just the usual computer dumb). Maybe the 10 year old Fabia (wait that's the same age as my wife's Fabia) isn't as "Simply Clever" as the 2024 Fabia and (wrongly by 2024 standards) achieves what Scorpiodan wants. I know with the air-con on in my wife's car once it has got rid of the solar gain cabin heat can get a bit cold for my liking (yet it's my wife that has five layers of clothing on in 25C heat). My general understanding from reading stuff on this site is that in some ways the MK4 Fabia might not be as good as the Mk3, the Mk3 is generally lower quality than the Mk2 (other than perhaps later MK2s) and Mk2 not as well built as Mk1. Such is progress. Goes for other marques too I expect but perhaps to a lesser extent for some.

I'll get on that thank you! Yeah it surprised me too but they were insistent it was the issue! Happened twice where the car got stuck in a gear and needed a restart
  32. I will need to try sitting in the other small EV,s other than the R5 & Sping which i have been in. The Fiat Panda EV is the one i look forward to actually driving.
  33. Hi nta16, Thank you for your input, I haven't found any luck by searching any forums, which I have found many times before. This forum has helped me alot for the past 7 years with our Skoda. I have done all preventive and corrective maintenance on the car myself so far. I posted in the forum you suggested hoping to get some inputs. Best regards, Fredrik

USB method isn't bad but if I had mib3 I'd probably pay up for rest of what connect services can offer.
  35. I've charged my new Elroq a few times now, last time in the rain, and I found that the charging port gets quite wet... Anyway I found this : 5LA054410 , which is a charging port cover made for the Enyaq. It fits perfectly on the Elroq and keeps the rain out while charging with AC. (it isn't designed to be used with a DC charger - but most of the time we charge at home so that isn't a problem.)
  36. Hi everyone! My name is Julian from The Netherlands and I drive a Skoda Yeti 2016. I bought the car 2 months ago from the first Owner with only 13.232km on the clock. You understand I am very pleased with that low kmage. I bought some Superb wheels to make the car look awesome (in my opinion ofcourse) Hope to learn and help on this forum. Kind regards
  37. The ships vary in frequency, can be nothing to UK for 3weeks, could be one tomorrow. Tends to be 3 sizes of ship, very large (goes to US etc), medium (includes UK), smaller (Scandinavia). Just keep looking on vessel finder etc. Not uncommon for ship to load once, and have multiple disports, Sheerness, Grimsby, Tyne. So don't just look for one going to Grimsby as next port.
  38. Still an open issue. @Gaz very kindly loaned me a spare SLR & lens to let me decide if I could use that format going forward, but unfortunately it's still in its bag as there has been much "real life" to contend with recently.
  39. The temperature gauge didn't have figures to save unnecessary worry and concern to driver/owners. Normally the needle I believe would be at (above) the yellow line, possibly higher in hotter climates, how accurate you gauge is and your coolant thermostat, and fan switch are only you can tell by testing them but if your car was previously running fine wherever the needle pointed that is was normal for your car and gauge. Variation from this normal is to be investigated particularly if the engine is running hot (or cold) regardless of where the gauge needle points. I don't know if your coolant thermostat opening at the green line is correct or not but I would expect the fan to switch on above the yellow line on a different car to yours but I am not a 1993 Favorit owner or driver (it has been 30+ years since my wife owned a Favorit). Shortening the two wires may have improved electrical contact, if so it is a good thing. The 82c thermoswitch has to be correct for your model and year and be a good quality part (many modern made parts are not good quality and some are very poor quality or worse). If I am correct I believe with other Škoda models of that period at least you need to get the correct colour plastic band on the thermoswitch. Good that you flushed the engine, did you also flush the radiator and if possible or appropriate flush the heater matrix too. At motorway speeds in other cars the needle would be above the yellow line let alone the green line but if the fan comes in when it should and you have no signs of overheating then I suspect it is as you think and the gauge reads low. I had a car where the thermostat was almost right next to the thermoswitch and neither agreed with the other about temperature, the level of accuracy and tolerance to acceptable margins could be wide. Plus by the 1990s coolant temperate gauges could be biased to go to a certain showing and stay there regardless of real life fluctuations of actual readings. Combined (mechanical) oil pressure and coolant temperature gauge for a 1960s British car. Coolant (electric sender and gauge) for a 1970s British car, markings left off to save drivers' worry (not that the gauges were very accurate anyway).

  41. I got a response today from Skoda: “We hope this email finds you well. We have received an update from our technical team. We identified possible cause of the issue, and we would like you to schedule an appointment with your preferred service partner. We apologize for the inconvenience this matter may have caused. In order to completely resolve the issue in question, a visit to the workshop is required. Please make an appointment in any convenient way with your preferred service partner, and share with us in your email response: – the name of your service partner; – their contact details (phone number or email); – their physical address; – the time and the date of your appointment with them. With these details, we will ensure our local support team forwards the correct technical solution to the right mechanic. Thank you for your patience and cooperation. ”

  43. Probably caused by a difference in voltage between your properties. Around here we have 248-250V as a rule, very close to the maximum allowed by the regulators so my charger often gives 7.8kW and never under 7.5kW (should be 7.3kW at 230V)
  44. Hello, after reading this thread, I decided to share the information I’ve gathered so far. I started experiencing the same symptoms as others described here: randomly increasing volume, key press sounds, unexpected screen restarts, and the display overheating. These issues occurred occasionally, mostly when using Android Auto: Waze, Spotify, etc. Updating the software from version 1896 to 1941 seemed to worked for a while. However, after about two weeks, all the symptoms returned, and the infotainment system began to restart endlessly. The restarts persisted even when the car was turned off and locked, throughout the night, and by morning, the car's battery was drained, I couldn't start the engine and had to jump-start it. Then, the infotainment restarts continued. The next morning, I couldn’t even unlock the car wirelessly due to a completely dead battery. At that point, I decided to contact my local Škoda dealer to report the issue. The person I spoke to said they had never seen such problems before and suggested I bring the car in for diagnostics. Since my car is no longer under warranty, and given the dealer’s attitude, I suspected they would charge me for every service. So, I decided to replace the display unit myself. I purchased a used display unit (5E3 919 605, HW version H49) from Poland for €180. Following the workshop manual, I disassembled the decorative trim and removed the top screw covers. Then pulled fuses 30 (infotainment) and 46 (infotainment display), swapped the displays, reconnected the fuses, and boom, everything worked like a charm! I've been driving occasionally for a week now, and so far, no problems have reappeared. My key takeaways:Replacing the display unit can be a DIY job. No coding needed and no component protection warning. A higher hardware version of the display is compatible with the older infotainment unit. Specs:Model Year: 2020 Display unit: was H44, now H49 Infotainment: H56 Software: 1941
  45. A slight benefit from PodPoint. The latest version of the PodPoint app allows you to link your Tesco Clubcard to get points when charging at Tesco. £1=1 point like other Clubcard promotions. Sainsbury's have been offering Nectar points on their charges for a while. A small benefit, but significant that incentives are starting o be offered.
  46. Not quite 12 months since the last update but the best part of... sorry! The car is out and about, albeit doing only special journeys, shows and evening drives to still try and run the new engine in, but slow progress is better than no progress right? I did book onto the Skoda Owners Club "Skodafest 2025" day held this year again at Chetwynd Deer Park in Shropshire, a mere hour from home. Bear in mind the lovely weather the UK had had the previous many weeks, the show day started off wet. So off we set, in the rain, wincing at every puddle and headed towards Newport. Luckily as we got into Newport the skies brightened and we chanced across a Shell garage with a snow foam jet wash, so a quick blast off of what was quite a grubby car saw it at least a bit cleaner. Into the show and I dried the car, cleaned inside the wheels (bloody stupid idea yellow wheels, grumble grumble) and the car looked great. The sun even came out for the majority of the afternoon and i met a number of people off here who recognised the car and came to say hi. There were prizes being awarded on the day for Best Car Prior to 1994, Best Car Post 1994 and Best in Show overall. Consider me humbled to be called up to be awarded Best in Show. Honestly my vote had gone to an immaculate Favorit in Blue that was simply beautiful, a true classic if ever there was one. So yeah, there we go, an update and a trophy. Dunno what else to say really, apart from thank you. Photos to follow.
  47. We have a 6 year old manual Karoq, 15 month old Kamiq with DSG, both with 1.5TSI, neither exhibit any tendency to stall. Both run on E10 whenever we can get it.
  48. By way of an update for my issue, the car has now been given back to Skoda and I've got a brand new DSG version. I assume they will resale this to some other poor sod instead of keeping it off road. I can bet my yearly wage there will be some sort of recall this year or next but if course according to skoda 'there is no fault' I may be financially out of pocket but that's worth not having the fear of an accident everytime I come to a roundabout. Good luck all.
