  1. The person you talked to is very poorly informed, Karoq comes with multiple wheel sizes, but the outside diameter is virtually same as tyre is deeper. Have a look at this brochure, has all the wheels (and the tyre sizes to go with them). They should be available through the parts Dept (but probably cheaper to get the tyres separately as lot of competition for tyres) https://www.skoda-auto.com/_doc/6d5c59b3-5d97-451a-ab78-2ef185e6e373 Have a look at your tyre pressure sticker (either on inside of fuel flap, or on inside of front door jam, drivers or passenger side), might even give multiple wheel sizes, if it does then car is already certified for the sizes listed.
  2. I think you might be flogging a dead horse either way @bfg101 based on that information.
  3. Not much to note, three new Tesla Open to All sites takes the total of Tesla sites for all to 121 in the UK. with prices at around 53-55p peak to charge and go, they are a very good option. Cheaper prices off peak and even cheaper with subscription. FYI a total of 199 open SC sites in UK, if you include the ones that are Tesla only.
  4. Just went up to ask my trusted indie man. He knew straight away. It's just a stabiliser to stop any vibrations. Nothing to do with the electrics. Maybe I'll try to remember to get him to replace it next time he has the car. There's a thread on a Toyota forum. Same thing. Even a photo of a very similar looking thing. Thanks for the replies.
  5. If that's the point, then you should focus on FL version. Led headlights were not available on non-FL. BTW, I think AFS was available with Xenon, but once they introduced LEDs, the moved to matrix LED which replaces both AFS and Smart Light Assist. AFAIK FL version started in late 2021 or early 2022. I ain't no boy racer either, but as I wanted a 4x4 from 2022, TDI200 was the only solution for me. TDI150 4x4 was not proposed in FL version (at least in France). Thus, looking for a TDI150 4x4 with matix headlights may sound like looking for a unicorn 🙃. I fear you have to choose between Non FL TDI150 4x4 with Xenon headlights and AFS and FL TDI190 / TDI200 4x4 with Matrix LED headlights. Hope it helps refining your search criteria! Glad to see you soon in the Kodiaq Mk1 forum 😉 !

  7. It was a pig to locate. There is a plastic cover held on by 2 screws on the passenger side. It's under that.
  8. Their response is 100% from chatgpt. I doubt anyone changed a single letter. And judging by the dates and how many times this feature has slipped, it’s either not on their priority list or for some reason it’s technically blocked. Most probably IT has switched gears into the Enyaq/Elroq or I have read rumors about a new upcoming Kodiaq-sized EV equivalent. I am not keeping my hopes up, regardless of what their BS machine generated email says.
  9. As I had stated, I had already deselected "Start music automatically" in the AA app on the phone (as well as in the car).
  10. We need to comment/make atleast 20 posts to unlock messages. Yay.:D
  11. I hear it's under the scuttle panel somewhere, I'm waiting until I have cause to get in there though - not taking it apart just to get to the air quality sensor that may or may not be in there lol
  12. Out of the standard Karoq front wheel drive wheel sizes 215/60R16 6Jx16 ET43 5/112 57.1 would give the best ride and by far the best protection from kerbing damage. The Karoq 4x4 uses the same specification rims as the Karoq front wheel drive, but the Karoq 4x4 uses slightly bigger tyres, eg. 225/60R16 vs 215/60R16. Karoq using 16" Octavia MK3 rims https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/524262-would-65j-x-16-et46-octavia-wheel-fit-2020-karoq/
  13. Have a wee look for the many similar threads. There is a very recent one. They talk rubbish, the recommended tyres / wheels for use with snow chains are smaller. Type Approved sizes can be used.
  14. According to his profile, @Twinpack last visited this site over 5 years ago on 10 June 2020.
  15. Well, the dealer did say that they carried out a full service, including oil change, becuase the car was less than 6 months to the scheduled service date. I guess I should take this as accurate. However, if there is any doubt then to be honest I would simply book my car in again in December and have the full one year service, just to to be safe.
  16. Interesting... The report says "UPDI and oil change service". I will definitely stay on the fixed rather than variable service interval. I wonder why the app refers to the service after next as "Inspection" only and not to an inspection & oil change service - perhaps it's all just abbreviated. And, as mentioned before, the dates and mileages don't really add up. It is as though the "Inspection" datehas reset the date the the anniversary of the car's registration rather than building on the service history - and the mileage seems to make no sense at all. But it will all sort itself out I am sure ! Thanks for the responses...
  17. Check when the car thinks the next service is due. The maybe some issues with the data because mine doesn’t look either. This is what is showing for my Sept 73 Karoq, bought in Apr 24, serviced in March 24 by selling dealer, serviced by my local dealer in March 25. The oil change in 262 days makes sense but not the mileage. The inspection in 627 days is dirt if right 12 months after the oil change but the m mileage is wrong.
  18. Thanks, I do agree its the best course of action. this seem to be a knowm problem in general with modern cars but maybe quite rare. The roadside assist did say (in effect) try rebooting the system by switching off the ignition and locking the car for 10-15 minutes, and when asked if this was common, was told no really but sometimes cures the fault and doesn'y seem to happen again. The dealer (Mon Motors) would not commit to doing the diagnostic FOC if there was nothing found faulty or it was not covered under the Skoda Extended Warranty. So if there was NFF I would need to pay about £90 but at least could insist on it being registered. I was told a year ago that S/W would not usually be updated unless there was a recall or there was a fault attribuated to it. I think this is short sighted and S/W should be updated at any service as it does not take much intervention by the mechanic.. I have to decide if I want peace of mind and pay the cost or live with the uncertainty of it happening again. Out of interest is there a way to find out what the latest versions are for my model, and are the responses given by my dealer common? Thanks
  19. On the App, go to your profile and paid services. You might find you already have this feature. I was also offered this a while back.
  20. Just tried and see it's working for my car. Also noticed I have a leather gear lever! On the last Karoq the digital certificate told me I had 18" alloy wheels and 17" tyres 🤣

  23. Hi, in this video you can see how to mesure it via vcds: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1e9imH68urw the parameter are: 0° to -2° new - still good green zone -2° to -4° to keep monitored yellow zone -5° or more red zone the chain needs to be replaced even if there isn't any rattling noise.
  24. The Amundsen requires the SD card in the unit to navigate... the new full Europe map, however, requires a 32GB version. The original map, however, does. The device checks for a CID number on the SD card. If it's incorrect, the navigation system won't work. So, either buy an SD card with the correct CID number somewhere, or patch the device so that no CID query is performed...
  25. Unfortunately not, Fabia Mk3 has simplified windows power opening and closing.
  26. Yesterday I lowered my 2024-built Fabia's glove-box fully down (as I described in the August 2023 thread). No fixing screws were evident, but - although I looked very closely and used a torch - I still couldn't decide exactly how the bottom rear edge of the glove-box 'hinges'. The glove-box has a 'damper' controlling its descent and (based on generic VW/Skoda YouTube videos) the small trim panel on the left end of the dashboard will first need to be (carefully) prised off to allow the damper to be disconnected. There are several current ebay adverts for Mk 4 glove-boxes that have been removed by car salvage companies, so it must be possible to remove the glove-box without damaging it. If you study the advert photos, you may be able to decide if detaching the glove-box from the dashboard is just a matter of using judicious brute force or something more subtle. If you eventually decide to replace the glove-box, I suggest you ask a friendly Skoda workshop manager how to do it.

Ha! I lived with a guy from Bally-v for 2 yrs while i was in Aberdeen Uni 🤣 08-10. There was also... 5/6 others from the Bally-v area they all knew each other (of course) in Aberdeen 🤣 if your wife is from that area... shè probably knows them too... might even be one of them 👋
  28. Ooh, nice to have it in the L&K trim. I could only find find a brochure for the MK1 and the MK2, the FL one I'm unable to find any information on, The one I missed out on was the TDI150 hp one, plenty fast enough for me, I'm not a boy racer but no slouch either, these days I'm more interested in maxing the MPG as much as possible and drive mostly in eco mode with plenty of coasting when the conditions are right. I have the cream interior and so did the one I missed, front and rear parking sensors and traffic sensors, heated front and rear seats. electric seats, although, once I have them adjusted they don't move, so electric I could leave out, heated windscreen, AFS lighting, DCC, heated screen, tri zone AC, but 2 zone is OK, ambient lighting would be nice, ACC and speed limiter and the one thing I really must have is either Xeon or LED headlights with AFS. It really needs to be diesel again with its extra low down torque figures, makes snow driving more of a doddle with its slow pickup when the gas peddle is pressed means that it keeps its composure more when driving on the slippery stuff.
  29. Hi paul, Welcome to forum! the kodiaq should enough power and space to handle what you to throw at it... somewhat biased, but you made the better choice over the sorento. ive test driven a couple of kias over the yrs and they feel... light? weak? thin?
  30. Just buy a new lever... The clip will come with it. But bear in mind it might not be the clip that is the issue. On ours then end of the spindle broke off meaning the clip had nothing to fasten to so it was the mechanism behind the handle that needed replacing.
  31. Is your Karoq new or used? If you are near the dealer you bought it from the service person should be able to go online and access the same info.
  32. I will get it checked yes, but I want to see if there's anything obvious first. Are there cooling hoses that pass the oil through the radiator like some of the Audis? Apparently the O rings can pop out if not properly installed. I've never replaced myself but? The oil I could see sitting on top before it was towed away was gin clear and smelled like oil i.e. no metallic particles visible and no smell of burning. I was towing a 1200kg caravan at the time along the A48 out of South Wales but it wasn't struggling and gear changes were quite normal, engine temp at 90deg .

Hi pink panther , That experience must have been concerning to say the very least. If I was in your position I would report the issue to Skoda UK and see what they say.
  34. I know that this is completely off topic, but we have been talking about cars big enough to take 4 x 6ft 4" giants and suddenly out of the ether this dropped into my suggested viewing on YouTube, long been a passion of but what a statement car even back when this new, 2006, there was nothing to touch it until you got to Bentleys and Rolls Royce's costing about 4 or more times the money. As you will see there is plenty of room for all my family and more to spare 😁

  38. If you want to make this a bit easier than it might end up being, maybe check the Kufatec website for kits and wiring cables, hopefully when you look at the kits they sell, you should be able to work out exactly the parts you need to move from "rear parking sensors only" to "front and rear parking sensors", then when you look at the wiring harnesses they sell, you should be able to buy that. After buying the harness, you will be able to log into their support instructions for that kit. Now, all that written above is based on my experience of adding front parking sensors to my 2011 Audi S4 in 2015, but hopefully you will find the same availability of stuff for your 2013 Fabia. I am a bit fussy so I wanted to achieve "as factory" or as near as possible, I bought all support parts via ebay, sensors were bought new but at sensible prices, I had to cut and splice the front bumper cable as it looked like one version was made for a wide range of ages of my car and typically LHD only, which can explain the need to alter the wiring slightly - I just checked the wire types used and bought a couple of reels of same sizes,I even bought a replacement "bumper" and "car" side set of connectors as Kufatec uses a size that leaves unused connections - I'd guess that like Audi, Skoda will also use at factory the correct connectors and so leave no unused connections. Coding, yes a few modules will need their coding altered to add in this upgrade, I've got VCDS so used that and tip/guides/hints from motoring forums, everything went perfectly, just a bit worrying punching the holes in the front bumper!
  39. I recently solved a rattle that had been driving me mad - it was intermittent and I couldn't replicate it consistently. I was sure it was coming from the glove box area or somewhere over the passenger side but my Mrs said it was coming from my side. I thought it might be the little plastic retainer nubbins in the cup holders, but it wasn't. After a year of trying to pinpoint it it finally turned out to be the plastic surround around the rear view mirror - as soon as I touch it the vibration stops. I just need to get around to putting something in there to stop it permanently.

  41. As a random guess, there are pressure-relief vents off the boot. They might be blocked or damaged, I suppose. What a strange problem.
  42. Possibly not the reason in your case but if the driver’s door isn’t properly shut the car won’t release the handbrake either manually or automatically until you’ve properly shut the door.

I don't think I have a use for it to be honest and I'd rather keep things simple. Certainly, I don't have any features to preheat, or any charging to monitor. I looked very hard at a Mk4 vRS, and then went and got the newest Mk3.5 I could. Yes, the interior was nicer on the newer model, but I wanted the most 'analog' car I could get, whilst still having a digi dash, ACC, etc. Part of the reason I didn't get the newer car was I didn't want to mess around with any connectivity features or have a locked gateway. Turns out my car has both, but oh well! It's a very late Mk3 FL, with some nice options (but folding wing mirrors...) so that might explain why it has it. As long as pressing the information button, and getting the 'service unavailable contact your dealer' means I didn't activate it, I'm happy! Perhaps a bit unusual for someone my age to not want tech, but if I could get a manual B7 RS4, I would. Hold the line... there's a reason I don't want that feature anywhere near me😂

Hello All, Apologies for not being back online sooner, I went ahead and purchased the car on finance. Within the 14 day period, I used my right to withdraw, which meant I had to pay the outstanding amount and a few days intertest. I kept all my perks. Hope that helps, and thank you all for your assistance. Thanks again
  47. I wonder if this a software issue. I note from other threads (matrix lights) that your car is going in to the dealer next Wednesday. Probably worth pressing them to look at updates for all components in the car. The SEL FEs had a shed load of issues early on, all fixed in mine now, so hopefully they can sort yours.

That’s not my reply… The OP was clear in their question, but hasn’t provided enough information for any of us to provide the correct answer. Nevertheless, it’s clear to me that those claiming to have ‘cancelled’ their agreements meant to write ‘settled’, ultimately confirming to the OP that they were able to keep the incentives after clearing the finance in full. Far from confusing.
  49. 1 point
It's a lot of words because other people coming here to read these things get it wrong. And the reason they get it wrong is because people do not explain things. Regardless, you should have 14 days to withdraw from any credit agreement (legal cooling off period), but you may lose any credit incentives like free services / warranty etc. that comes with the finance. The T&Cs could be completely different to those that VWFS have for their agreements. The OP is clearly asking about settlement. You've replied with an answer about cancellation. That's confusing as hell for anyone wishing to know about settlement.
  50. 1 point
Sorry, might be too late for this to have any affect if OP was going to the garage on Friday, but just for the record.... 😲 After everything that's been written, why are people still getting this sooooo wrong? If there's a Briskoda Admin person reading this, perhaps it would be a good idea to have a post re: early PCP settlement that people can refer to rather than folk like me having to correct misleading information. Everyone: If you CANCEL a PCP arrangement then as with any finance agreement, under UK law, the Consumer Credit Act allows 14 days to withdraw without penalty ( commonly known as the cooling off period ). But the OP does not want to cancel the agreement ( few people do ), he want's to SETTLE the agreement, that's to say he want's to fulfill it. Under a PCP arrangement, you can settle the agreement at anytime - forget all about the 14 days cooling off, it does not apply to settlement, only to cancellation. If you cancel an agreement then any incentives would have to be paid back. If however you settle an agreement, you keep the incentives, regardless of when you settle. OP - check with the dealer who the finance is with, but if it's a VW Group dealership then there's a good chance it's VWFS. And yes, VWFS provide PCP finance on used cars... https://customer.vwfs.co.uk/car-finance-options/helping-you-choose/financing-used-vehicles.html I haven't used VWFS to settle an agreement since 2020 and I believe they still work in exactly the same way: 1. Take out a PCP agreement, 2. Give it a couple of days, couple of weeks, couple of months, couple of years - whatever you want then log in to your online account with VWFS and request a settlement figure. 3. If it's after a few days, the only additional payment should be an administration fee of around £20-£30. Now I say should be, but I'm not up to speed with current T&C. The reason I'm hesitant is I bought a Toyota back in August and did exactly the same as I've always done with VWFS however they hid behind some ambiguous statement in their T&C that said a charge may be applied according to government rules. Well a charge was applied - about £600, but nobody could tell me those government rules or how the figure was calculated. ( I'm still waiting to hear back from the financial ombusman on a ruling). Basically Toyota are saying we may charge whatever we like and don't have to show you how the sum was arrived at. They kept referring to the government website buy never divulged where on that website it mentioned anything about max. charges that can be applied. 7 months on and I've still never found them! Toyota Finance are the only company that I've come across who charge this fee for setttling a PCP agreement but I've a hunch if they get away with it, others may also apply a charge, so whatever finance agreement you're asked to sign, pay particular attention to the section on early settlement. Hope that helps.
