  1. After 7.5 years of Kodiaq ownership (a 2018 1.4TSI Edition, and a 2021 2.0TSI vRS) - preceded by 3 years of an Octavia - I'm off to pastures new. Decided that the Mk2 is fugly (in my opinion!), and judging by the forum, also full of issues. Considered the Elroq, but in the end we picked up a new Renault Scenic on Monday, and so far we're extremely impressed by it (Apple Maps on the dashboard screen as well as the big infotainment one is a big win for me!). It's baby brother (a Renault 5) will hopefully be joining it at the end of the month 😁. Anyhoos - I probably need to go find a Renault forum now, so tatty byes and take care! 👋
  2. I can report by installing top mounts 5WA 412 331 A (Arteon) has made a difference however I am on Bilstein coilovers aswell. It's feel more comfortable/ road imperfections are a bit less intrusive and the steering weight is lighter in Normal mode.
  3. One useful feature I do know is right concerning the alarm is if you want to briefly safely lock a dog or young children inside the car (outside a shop or petrol station say) you can double press the remote locking button. This not only switches off the internal movement sensor part of the alarm it also changes the security level of the locks to single locked. This means that the doors can be opened from the inside but not from the outside. It's dangerous to lock anyone in a car with the usual single press because when the doors are double locked as they will then be, they cannot be opened from either the outside or inside in emergency such as a fire.
  4. The adaptation is a doddle with the right kit. A 5 minute job which most indys could do for little money. A main dealer would likely charge considerably more though.
  5. The back seat of mine some Saturday nights....
  6. TBH you've done a massive amount so far and it is starting to look car/pick-up like again!
  7. I'm not dead, I just spent a week in Iceland and caught corvids for the first time which gosh it sucks doesn't it? Just barely back on my legs now but it's tipping down with tasty Scottish rain obviously. I'm off work for 2.5 more weeks and want to get this thing to fail an MOT by the end of that. I've picked up some more welding gas because it likes to float off at one hell of a rate! The plan for Friday and Saturday (which look drier) is to get the sill fixed up. Other tasks are just headlight adjuster and dashboard install crap really. So obviously I've been working on adding DRO scales to my milling machine instead of working on the car. Sorry.
  8. Looks like the ID.2 will be called a Polo

After I eliminated the R5 as nice but no cigar, way to small in the back seats I have just come back from looking at the R4. Sam issue in the back seats, slightly better but not good getting in an out for those of us over 6 ft. So if to stay with the Renault stable it is looking like a Megane-e. Test drove one over a year ago and thought OK but nothing special even though 220 hp ie more than my Scenic. Need to try the back seat access and comfort, hopefully better than R4 and R5, will not be as good as the Scenic of course but will check if acceptable. MY2026 Megane-e's have one pedal driving now and range is up to 285 miles now for the 63 Kwh battery pack like I have in the Scenic but only 267 miles of range under WLTP. Pair that with 4 year 0% finance and the £1500 EV grant and the R4 and R5 just look silly options IMO.
  10. You can still silence the alarm with a non-working fob because the small chip inside the fob continuously gives off a signal which the receiver in the ignition switch will recognise (even if the fob battery is completely flat) and once this 'handshake' has been completed the alarm will silence once the ignition is switched on and the car will also then be able to start. The little chip inside the battery needs no external power source. When you look inside a remote you can see the chip, it's just a small black ceramic thing glued in place with no wires. Although you can buy these chips cheaply (less than £5) it is useless unless it is programmed to your car which these days means a live connection over the internet to Skoda.
  11. PS, AFAIK, the keyless ignition switch does not solely rely on the fob battery to disengage the immobiliser - placing the end of the fob close against the starter switch should silence the alarm and allow the engine to be started.
  12. Hello, welcome to the forum. The alarm on SWMBOs Mk3 Fabia operates immediately the door is opened using the emergency key blade slot - no delay.
  13. Taxed & tested and just waiting to put the personal plates on. Insured from tomorrow on my Reg number. It is not a Long Range i have.
  14. As some of you have probably realized I'm crazy about converting factory radio / navigation into Android tablet. To be more detailed: in adding Android tablet functionality into factory radio / navigation system. First time I made in in my Superb II MY12 with Columbus. Second time I added this feature to Bolero in my Fabia III. And now I have adopted Amundsen MIB STD2 infotainment system (from new Yeti) to be used in the same Superb (I was a bit tired with Columbus) and equipped wit with Android 4.4.4 module. Disadvantage 1 - you have to change gateway (as this system has address 5F which cannot be coded in old gateway) Disadvantage 2 - you have to find somebody who will take care of Component Protection which is not so common yet Disadvantage 3 - you have to buy SD card with maps (goodbye old good days of updating maps at no cost in Columbus) Disadvantage 4 - no climatronic visualisation Disadvantage 5 - no CD/DVD reader Advantage 1 - something new in the old car Advantage 2 - it has built-in bluetooth Advantage 3 - reverse camera can be connected without any adapters Advantage 4 - you can probably activate and use MirrorLink/AndroidAuto (probably as I have not checked it yet) And it's way easier to extend it with Android table funcionality comparing to old Columbus. I will post some pictures and videos next week.
  15. Well its been a few years but back on this forum. At the moment I have the MG HS PHEV, no matter what people say this has been a brilliant car, nothing has gone wrong, the 12v is still the original, the DAB Radio still works and no stupid screen aerial glove box lash up either. 3 years and all is well. My wife has now ordered the new Hyundai Inster 02 EV and got £3.750 EV grant and £500 deposit contribution. We have a Zappi on the wall for the MG so thought I'd see what my options were. The new MG, EV3, or maybe the Elroq ? I have yet to book test drives so I would like to get a heads up on your thoughts on this car, so when I take it out of the dealer showroom I will hopefully remember what to check out! Any comments, good or bad would be appreciated.
  16. Thanks @Warrior193 . I guess faults might be an issue given how low the existing battery got. Also, i did call out Green Flag before starting the CTEK trickle charge, and they tried boosting it etc. Their conclusion was that it needs to be replaced, but that i could try the trickle charge first. @Danoid Varta is sold out. Anyway , I'm not too bothered about brand. More concerned about AGM and adaptation.

Hi i'm new to Briskoda and will be after turbo and remapping advice.
  18. Personally I’d go with Varta (and I did), well respected and OEM for VAG and many other German cars
  19. it's too expensive, now it's more accessible and the price should be lower
  20. The OP is in Israel. Just saying for anyone else looking and wondering what the 'Selection' spec is.
  21. All door handles are the made with the same mold, they look all the same, with the 2 little "bumps" , whether they have keyless entry or not. You can do 2 things : In the infotainment menu, look for a "keyless entry" on/off switch. I have it in mine. Go to a skoda dealer, they can run the VIN number and tell you if your car has keyless entry or not.
  22. Around £650 in total but they also activated and coded pACC and a few other bits. Was a while ago
  23. MY 2026 Megane should also get taller centre screen. The one in their 2024 version is unreasonably tiny, only fits keyboard + text entry field.
  24. Thanks, I think I need to go and play!
  25. Relays are behind the dash trim, above the fusebox. Fuel pump relay is probably bottom row second from right end.
  26. 2 1/2 years since the thread started. £20,000 back then. Really VW stretch out these things and really another year to delivery. Truth is probably the are still not able to get Type Approval and just show the damn cars properly. Can they really build and make a profit and dealers make money, or are the dealers just something else that are getting the chop?
  27. Skoda UK cars had Castrol as the recommended oil, free bottles in car. Dealers used Castrol or Quantum. Now no mater, Mobile, Shell, Tesco, Asda, Comma etc etc, but need to be to the Spec, some will say, on the APPROVED LIST. Now Quantum is from Fuchs Oils and TPS supplies and Dealerships use it. The imported bit is VW Approved to VW504 00 / 507 00, & 0w 30 FS III, Long life and can be used Fixed or Variable servicing. VW502 00, so 0w 40 FS (not long life) can be used for fixed. But they do not tell you that.
  28. The actual brand of the oil is completely irrelevant - any oil compliant with the required standard, provided it comes from a reliable supplier, is suitable. High priced oil does not necessarily mean it is better than a lower-priced one.
  29. Sorry, false alarm. Found the info in the on-line Manual and the sticker on the front of the engine bay. SAE 0W-30 or VW 505-00 or 507-00 Could do with knowing what brand of oil is used though please. Interesting it states to check the level engine off but hot. Obviously suits the maintenance work in the dealer (?) Your post just beat mine! I checked the oil as usual weekly (and top up screen wash etc) but engine COLD. With hot oil I would expect the level on the stick to be just at Max. I know over max is wrong, but just want to be sure I have it correct. I have a Porsche Boxster (slower than the Skoda...) and that has to be 1/2 level to min/max and hot and engine @ tick-over, (no dip stick, just dash computer read-out, nasty). Too full and smoke everywhere. Really really nasty! Thank you for your post. Has answered all my questions in one go.
  30. A tip for you regarding your engine. The HTP engines have a hydraulic chain tensioner. It tends to retain a volume of oil within itself after engine shutdown, which helps it to apply the required push on the chain guide quickly after start-up. One thing that can squeeze this oil out, is if the engine rotates backwards when not running. This can occur if the car is left in gear when parking on a slope, if the selected gear is opposite to the movement that happens if the handbrake slips a little. Better to maintain the handbrake sufficiently that there is no need to park in gear,or put it in a gear such that rotation will be normal if the car does shift a little.
  31. @wyx087 I have not driven it as it was waiting on brake and suspension parts but i had one for a few days when new and got 180 miles without trying & it was cold at the time. I tried a local Taxi firms Long Range and it was not as efficient and they had poor efficiency with it and so did i. No remote pre heat or App, but i will be using the MINI in winter anyway locally. No rush to fit the All season tyres as there are pretty new Maxxis fitted and big rain coming so i have a distance to do this weekend and i will see what it is like for traction and efficiency on them. I always go straight to All Seasons with cars but this time i will be sure of what i want to fit. Self Seal i think, and maybe a spare wheel & tools since i will be going further North more with this car.
  32. @Ootohere I could give you much more info about Pirelli but right now I wont have any longer/versatile trips. When do you plan to get them?
  33. @ZJZ That is exactly the size i need. I collect the car tonight so will have a few days running it in pretty rainy weather and seeing how the car is foe efficiency and range on the Maxxis tyres it is wearing which are pretty new. No rush to put the All Seasons on as my MINI is perfect in the snow, but i can have them just now at a pretty good price, but i get trade price fitted at ATS Euromaster (Michelin own them as they do Black Circles) and CrossClimate 2,s at a very good price if i pay for them now.
  34. I think i will put a set of these on the MG5 EV (Estate) i have got after giving the tyres that are on a bit of a try to see how the efficiency / range is before the weather gets cold / wintry. (No spare wheel / tyres) but i might get one. these are Self Seal.)
  35. @ZJZ The Michelin Primacy 4 were rubbish were they not in anything other than warm or dry roads? Maybe drop the new tyres by a couple of PSI and give them a chance. You will be driving on far safer tyres as the winter comes in and temperatures drop and roads are wet or wet and cold IMO. I am considering exactly the tyres you have for the MG5 EV i just got, or maybe Good Year Vector 4 Gen 3. On my Corsa Electric the Primacy 4 were replaced with Michelin Alpin 6. On my MINI Electric i have on Maxxis AP3,s in 16" and on 17" rims i have Vredstein Quatrac Pro,s. All the All Seasons i fit are higher Load / Speed rating than OEM & XL (reinforced) and make no negative difference in comfort over OEM, if anything improve comfort. ................ I will be using the MG5 EV (Estate) without a spare wheel or wheels as i need all the space in the rear. (The self seal Continentals i had on my Seat Alhambra were ok, but then i fitted All Seasons and added a Spare wheel.)

    Welcome, Elliot 👍
  37. Well, just to answer my own question, for whom it may be interesting. Few days ago I got Pirelli Cinturato SF3 in 215/55 R17 size. That size only comes with 98W rating and as XL. Pirelli replaced same sized Michelin Primacy 4 , 94V, that came with a car. At the same recommended pressure which is 2,5 Bars Pirelli is about twice stiffer/harder than summer model Michelin. Yesterdays weather here was sunny, low 15°C, high 27°C. Today was rainy and much colder but today I only had a short (and uncomfortable) city drive, so can't comment on wet performance.
  38. It's the wheel lining that needs to dropped down. You could take the headlight unit out, but that's a lot more work and not necessary. Check the post for full details. Dealers can supply the cap, same as the one just beside it.
  39. Yes it was a software update concerning charging the battery , at first it was in for a day , however they called to say they have experience issues with other cars and would like to rebook for a couple of days so was was given a courtesy car . It now transpires they are struggling and this is a recall from Skoda UK and the dealership are now talking to skoda uk to correct the issue .
  40. @PetrolDave I take your point entirely. In my experience of getting my system and my soon to be daughter-in-law getting hers, all those who quoted asked the question if we wanted power cut back up. Most of those also asked if we wanted whole house back up or a specific set of sockets. So there is a very good chance IME that the layman will have the opportunity to choose, even if they don't know there is a choice. Of course there are some less reputable outfits banging in standard systems that won't meet some customer's needs especially those installing under the ECO-4 grant (or whatever its called these days). However , as with any major consumer purchase the buyer needs to be doing some due diligence checks on the suppliers they ask to quote.
  41. @CabooseRecluse I found the thread (from 2017) in which I described my error and its fix. (Use Chrome to translate if you don't understand Dutch.) My error was apparently P0087. Back then the fuel pump was revised quite a few times to solve its problems. Was the £250 + VAT for the injectors for four of them (sounds like a reasonable price), of per piece? (which is a quite steep...)
  42. I bought it from a dutch company called vd Ven is a dealer in parts for all cars.. I saw that RRR.lt sold them to. Ebay.co.uk has them. But watch the H49 hardware versions there should be a picture with the right hardware on it. I paid 425 euro's for it. Mine is a year old from a 2024 plate
  43. - Service indicator popped up. Contacted Skoda authorized workshop to schedule appointment for service. Provided evidence for and TPI of "Digital instument panel - flickering indicator" and asked for it to be fixed. Was agreed. Car under warranty - Went to pick up car and was informed that no attempt made to fix TPI. Workshop said they wanted to schedule a separate appointment for that. Me not happy. Left and decided to wait to get TPI fixed until next scheduled service appointment - Year later. Service indicator popped up again. Contacted Skoda authorized workshop to schedule appointment for service. Workshop said they will not be able to install fix under warranty since it had expired. Workshop also said there is at least 1 update available for my car available OTA (system update, v1985 of infotainment). I said my car does not show that there is an update available thus making it impossible to install update OTA. Workshop said they would look into it. Appointment was scheduled. - Sent email to contact address in Skoda Connect app (supportatskodadashautodotcom) asking why my car never has received an Online System Update OTA (only minor updates OTA) despite Skoda themselves are saying that it should work in my car (see my previous entries above in the current topic). Provided them with all evidence needed to prove that I had followed the instructions in the manual. - After several emails back and forth with a first line support person(s), they hand it over to their "technical team". First line support person says "technical team" wants me to schedule appointment with authorized workshop and reply time, date and place of appointment so "our local support team forwards the correct technical solution to the right mechanic". They gave no info of what this technical solution entails. I asked but they did not reply - I replied the details of the appointment I already had scheduled. I emailed the workshop informing them of my conversation with Skoda support (ticket number, my original question, evidence and everything else needed to make sure that the problem gets solved at the appointment). - Appointment day. Left car at workshop. Got call from workshop technician. He said they won't install any updates unless I pay for it since my warranty has expired, including the one Skoda support have asked the workshop to install. He said I have to pay approx. 200 euro for each and every update to be installed manually. I declined. I won't pay for something that should have been working since day 1. - Picked up car. On specification from workshop detailing what has been done, it said I declined to get the following installed: OAA2 (update of OCU, this must have been what Skoda support thought would solve the System Update OTA issue), O3A4 (v1985 update of infotainment) and the TPI (flickering indicator). - Sent email to Skoda Sweden providing them with all the details and asking them to explain how I was supposed to be able to discover during the warranty period that System Updates OTA does not work in my car. - After several emails back and forth with a first line support person, I believe they handed it over to a person actually suitable to answer the question and make decisions on financial matters. In next email the first line support person said that there is a solution available at the workshop and they will get in touch (again no info about what the solution entails) - Got email from workshop asking me to schedule an appointment "to perform the update free of charge". I replied asking what this single update is about. They said it is update of software of OCU to version 0144. - Sent email to Skoda support informing them of this new appointment and asking them to assist the workshop technician. No reply - Appointment day. Left car at workshop. Got email from workshop service manager. Said they had done a bunch of updates and the vehicle is ready to be picked up. Called the workshop and asked what updates they had performed, only one was supposed to have been installed. They said they had manually installed the OCU update to 0144, they had manually installed the infotainment update to 1985 and they had installed the TPI fix for "flickering indicator" all free of charge. Asked the workshop technician how I am supposed to know whether the OCU update actually solved the System Update OTA problem as they have manually installed 1985. He replied alot but nothing made any sense to me. He also said that OTA only started working from version 0135 of the OCU. I told him again that minor updates OTA had worked before in my car and whether he was explicitly talking about System Updates OTA. He replied alot but again nothing made any sense to me. Asked which version of the OCU was in the car before the OCU update. He said 0135. Asked then how come 1985 was not shown as available for download and install OTA. He replied alot but again nothing made any sense to me. Gave up and picked up the car Conclusion (so far) - Positives: despite no warranty, I still got a bunch of updates installed free of charge. Good to know that there exists a reasonable person at Skoda that understands that it is impossible for a car owner to, within the warranty period, discover latent bugs in Skoda's firmware/software - Negatives: still don't know if System Updates OTA work in my car (it would have been so nice to have had this sorted once and for all and not potentially having to endure this again)

The middle row blankets have to be slightly rearranged for passenger seat belt use and repositioned (as seen in the photograph) when not in use, I deem them a success in both respects.
  45. This thread really is getting rather silly. I seriously doubt @ZJZ you will be able to tell or discern any difference between the higher load rated tyres and the lower load rated ones. If you can then the higher ones will be slightly stiffer and might have better steering feel. As a reference I have higher load rated tyres on both my Suzuki swift (Falken zeix 310), my Kodiaq (Falken Azenis FK510) and also had them on my Octavia 4x4 (Vredestien Sportrac and then Michelin Cross Climate) and they have all been excellent with no detrimental issues. Just buy what you think are the best balance of performance characteristics for you and don't worry about the load rating - the latter will make bugger all difference for 99.9% of your driving so isnt worth getting stressed about.
  46. No do not have a superb, but have had higher load XL all season tyres on other Skoda car (before SF3 was invented), and couldn't tell difference from the normal load summer tyres in everyday driving.
  47. The handling will depend on the temperature, generally all seasons are bit softer than summer tyres in cooler months. So sort of offsets, but there are multiple factors. As Superbs also come with 2 sizes of bigger wheels than 17 (with less tyre sidewall) I would guess having higher load rating won't make much difference. The view is suspension on superbs is softer end of scale (more comfort orientated than sporty) If you had wanted a sports car to throw around country roads, then wouldn't have a superb. So it will be fine.

  50. Please don't all gang up on me......it's a genuine question, I'm not trying to be a smart arse. Why would you downshift to 1st while still moving?? I have put over 1,000,000kms on two seperate cars with the 6spd wet DSG box....... and that is something I would never have felt the need to do.
