  1. Lots of expense as much as £1,000-£1,200. I would not be getting the cam belt changed at your mileage. Well actually i might because of how i drive. But normal use, if a technician will just check the belt i would be getting that done. I would get the spark plugs changed if not done, and the brake fluid, and have the air filter checked, probably replaced. Leave the DQ200 DSG well alone.
  2. @domhnall I am not bitter, but it is another of the Social divides, one that seems to keeps being ignored by those that can do their charging at home, those that drive not just for private use, and those that get help or repaid for buying the energy / fuel fully or partly for business use. Be that electric or liquid fuel. Liquid will be public at known prices, electric can be cheap rate at home / work or public. There are plenty Ultra Fast Chargers around now, but unless a Tesla, Porsche or Ionity north of Tayside you are paying in the 75 pence or above a kW for Rapid charging. That now includes Council operated chargers. That is now say £7.00 for 10 kWh so maybe for 27-45 miles. If you are driving as part of your work or to get too or from then you might have the various Subscriptions paid up and able to use an operator even just occasionally and pay the likles of 43 pence a kWh. Tesla non Tesla offpeak is what works for me when i am near at the right times. InstaVolt offpeak using the App as well. Otherwise it is MFG and pay the high price of convenience and reliability.
  3. Have you had a read of the water pump thread?: Gaz
  4. Silly me, Octavia 1.5 TSi, ACT, SE L. DSG.
  5. Check out Asda prices. I was given a choice of local fitters and the Asda price was less than the fitters could even buy them at. tom
  6. @jazzyjeff Best you say what engine your car has, TSI (ACT or not) or a TDI and what capacity engine.

Just a note, the terminal voltage will register a little lower than true SOC if not all of the vehicles' control modules are in 'sleep mode' as they will be loading the battery by drawing current.
  8. Had one very short episode when censor failed again but none since that one so still monitoring.
  9. There is no incentive from the UK Government for private drivers without the ability to charge at home or offpeak charging to drive an EV over an ICE vehicle. The Grants / Reductions in the price of a new BEV might appeal to some, but if they can only Public Charge then they need to be aware of just what the running costs are of the purchase / lease and running costs, now and then once PPM comes in in 2028 if it does. PHEV,s as well. It really looks like the Chancellor & Treasury employees and the Secretary of state for transport are clueless to the cost of Public Charging. Probably because money in and out of their bank account is easy come easy go and claim on expenses or be driven by others while on duty, or even off.
  10. Hi guys. im completely new even to forums and im glad to be here. i have recently gotten a very nice 2015 Fabia combi. so far its an amazing car. im hoping to learn a lot about it here!
  11. Finally got around to this over Christmas. I changed oil and filter as it needs service anyway, fuel filter, and ran a can of diesel purge through the injection system bypassing the full system. So far it's been running great.
  12. But you need the Tire sensors. The same salesman was talking about some sensor in the HUB ??? so no need separate sensors in the tires. Perhaps not Trust him ???
  13. I actually have the the ID BUZZ cargo with 18" steel rims so can check if they fit. Talked to the local salesman Skoda today about 18". He said that wanted to Use 18" rims but that was stopped. Think this is politics. 19" steel rims looks strange almost Ugly compared to 18" steel rims

At the very least, the battery is failing. Worth giving it a full charge, if possible, to confirm condition.
  15. Coincidentally, this afternoon the dealership contacted me. They informed me that they have an internal notice stating that they are aware of the issue and are working on an update for the MIB/ICAS3. They will let me know when it is ready to be installed. I will inform you when I have more details.

If you find the engine code I could look up the wiring relevant to the fault. Without it, I can't.

Tested the battery... read 12.2v....ignition on 11.8....cranking flashed down to 9.? Engine running 14v
  20. If its a use once nut 12 point then its 50Nm plus 45 degrees. (thats for the MK1 but think the MK2 is the same) It must be tightened with wheel off the ground.
  21. I use Dragy often with cars, every loan car or new car i get. Demonstrators etc. I set the tyre pressures first usually and use the same section of roads. Often the road temp is low, but occasionally warmer, seldom heated by a beating down sun. Every car performs better than the Official figures. Then there are setting or modes as i only drive 2 pedal cars (Auto, Semi Auto, Servo Clutch, CVT etc.) It is good for the insurance that Performance Figures are played down. Many BEV,s official times are nothing like the real performance 0-62 mph or 0-100 mph. Many reviewers give a 0-60 MPH time or talk about that, the official figures are usually in Europe or the UK 0-100 Km / 62 mph, not 0-60. ........................ Below, MINI Electric & the crap sports tyres in the colder roads or damp or even a hotter road were poor compared to when All Seasons were fitted.
  22. Spot on. It’s definitely a marketing hierarchy thing. The interesting part is that even here in the Abu Dhabi heat it still hooked up at 91 meters, which is far from the 'ideal' UK temps you mentioned, the car still over-delivered. It just shows that the 'minimum' baseline Skoda sets is very conservative indeed.
  23. They were at the 5 year time in 2023 and owners were not going to pay the ridiculous price at Main Dealers and were trading in cars rather than a huge 5 year Manufacturers guidelines, brakes, AC, cambelt, advised discs etc. So Franchised Dealers had cars that they would need to spend the supposed 6.5 hours doing the cam belt on. Many never had the equipment. Hense the Goose that laid the golden egg was slaughtered in the Non Dusty UK Region. So now Skoda / VW Approved Used cars might not have the Cam Belt changed.
  24. Took my 2025 Octavia vRS (Mk 4.5 facelift, 265hp) out for a Dragy run. Lawyers and bad publicity If something is bit better than advertised, won't be any complaints. But if can't achieve it in normal everyday conditions (on a normal road surface with part worn tyres and E10 10% ethanol fuel as used in Europe) then asking for trouble. It's not good enough to say need specialised conditions with climate control off etc and in optimum conditions then just about get there.

Hello everyone, New here, I'm previous owner of a Karoq and I'm now deciding wether to get an Octavia vRS or not.
  26. I've got the same engine, but manual 'box and 29k miles, 68 reg. Owned by me from new. I won't be getting the belt done - VW UK changing the belt replacement interval to be inline with the rest of the world was a relief. I think there's too much to go wrong with changing it even at (or especially at!) a Skoda main dealer. I get everything else done at my trusted independent garage. As more 1.5 TSi ACT get to the 5 year+ mark or higher mileages I'm sure we'll see disaster stories on here or other outlets if they happen. One caveat, it's your car, your choice 😉
  27. If your talking about the one that I have post it above, there was no sun activated there. I will activate the sun again on my car and make you another map file so you can se the changes that I made. I will also try to explain from my memory what and each of the coding does but I will come back with a reply later since I am away from the car at the moment
  28. Not sure you will agree with much of this George but Dave paints a rosy picture of on street and ultra rapid charging .....

Not sure but another quick point is disconnect battery while checking voltage before starting. just in case there is a drain somewhere. If it still reads under 12 and wont charge up any higher then I would get a new one. Alasdair

Sounds like the battery is failing. The turning may be coincidence or perhaps the power steering uses more power turning right? and the voltage has dropped too low for the electronics in car. I would try a different known good battery or a new one.
  32. timing at 75k should still be ok unless its more than 5 years as long as they fitted a decent quality kit. Any decent garage would be able to look at it/check it for you and may be able to help. My old one that I used to use regularly before they retired didnt mind if you popped in to let them hear any problems especially if you took biscuits/cakes Alasdair

If the battery is 11.3 volts its either very low and needing charged or failed. Depending on how old it is it might need replacing if it wont charge up fully. With the car running are you getting 13.7-14.7 volts as it may be the alternator thats not charging rather than a failed battery. Alasdair
  35. No, the sun is available once I add in vcds a new function to a new group. If I remember corect, all the groups have the doors assigned to them, so once I change group 14 to celling light(or panorma) I was able to see the new sun. I don't have anything(no led) connected as a celling light but the sun is still there. I am unable to control any rgb light using the celling sun because all the leds that I buyed are doors intended(there are specific led codes which goes to the celling)
  36. If there was a vote i would vote for lower VAT on public charging. Fingers crossed the 4p a kwh reduction in April will filter through. Oil list a quarter of its value in 2025 and that 1.5p a litre does not seem to have been passed on, the reverse it seems the diesel and petrol sales margin has increased. No ASDA driving down the price any more. Oil will continue to fall in crude costs due to over supply which might soften the blow against Septenber Excise duty rise but only a bit. I gave up my "Free" fuel card, oart of my employment package as I could run an EV as cheap without it with the GO overnight tariff from Octopus and I wanted to help give my granddaughter a better world 🌎 to live in.
  37. Hi 100% plug and play. The yellow plugs are quite tight to push together, and I had to do a hard reboot of the radio for it to recognise the camera (press and hold power button until it restarts) If you have an electric tailgate the inside of the button is a bit awkward to get to due to the closing motor but it can be done without removing it. There’s various versions on this link for different button types but it’s camera A that I ordered. https://a.aliexpress.com/_ExXiDWk You will need some cable pulling rods to be able to route the cable. And fitting all the cables back in behind the radio is a bit of a pig. There’s a couple of good videos here for fitting/cable route. Don’t worry about the cabling on the richter one, you don’t need to be splicing wires with this camera.
  38. As your car is the 4x4 I assume you are looking for 245/40 R19 98Y XL. These may be available in that size: Michelin CrossClimate 3 Sport – Available “with rim protection ridge (FSL)”. Bridgestone Turanza All Season 6 - Available “with rim protection (MFS)” (also shown as “XL MFS …” on some listings). Goodyear Vector 4Seasons Gen-3 – Available “with rim protection (MFS)”. Continental AllSeasonContact 2 – Commonly listed with “FR” (yet another rim-protection / flange marking). Pirelli Cinturato All Season SF3 – Available “with rim protection (MFS)” in 245/40 R19. But for all I know, any of these may also be available in versions that lack the rim protector. Don't take my word for any of this; check with the retailer.

  40. @26DIPP - I replaced the rear 12v power socket with a 12v USB Quick Charge socket. The front 12v socket will b similar. Link to the 12v USB socket I bought. Link to the 90-deg USB cable.
  41. CleanMyDrive does get rid of the characters, there is also another way of setting filters which has the same effect.
  42. this is not correct. Scala/ Kamiq/ Fabia made from kw 5/2024 do not have yet activation outside factory.

When I activated the eyelashes I did also the taillights with daylights always on. Not sure it helps you, but you can just investigate further here. Also, not sure OBD11 can do everything. 45. Sorry about that, but fortunately, it doesn’t sound that bad… Concerning not being a Skoda fan anymore, I fear this problem would have happened to almost any other diesel engine, whatever the brand. DPF diesel engines don’t like short trips. This contributes to clogging the DPF but also clogging the EGR valve. Medium / long trips are necessary to avoid that, as well as frank acceleration on first gears (once engine is warmed).
  46. Today, I've received a new rgb led module from aliexpress. This one seems to be oem, the light is dimm and nice even though in some situations I can see the component colors, I think I can solve the issue. For the moment, I did not make any coding but I am able to control the colors and the intensity. Now, that the light is so nice and dimm, I am planning to use it for the door handles. Now, I have(which I will not use) 2 rgb lamps for the door handles, and antoher 2 modules, 2 color(white and red)also for the door handles 😂😂
  47. Just heard from the Dealer that the car is with them ready for delivery - lease company just haven't yet authorised it....any day now (hopefully). So August 18th order placed, build week 43, <6 weeks to UK and dealer inspection/registration etc. completed before w49! Final spec was Elroq 85, Plus Pack, Winter Pack, Heat Pump and in Grey
  48. Well my 2016 Superb had no issues like that in 9 years. It only failed in very snowy conditions which was expected with snow covering the front completely. So the new ACC is not as robust as previous version.
  49. Just caught a 5 min fragment where they took a newish MG and a 9yr old 1st gen Leaf for a run down the motorway at 70mph. An expert university of Warwick battery scientist explains the importance of keeping charge levels within a window of 80% max to 20% min to prevent accelerated battery degradation. It was backed up by advice printed in the MG user manual. So they started at 80% and tested how far it would take them to get to 20% The MG managed 72 miles using 80% to 15%. The Leaf went 17 miles before the presenter chickened out thinking it would run out completely. Maybe the Leaf had done over 200,000 miles as many EV fans seem to claim they often do. Never mind, it can be repurposed to power someone's house for an hour or two, or be sent to one of those yet to exist battery recycling centres along with our blue bin rubbish that go to a mythical place where it gets put in a container bound for Malaysia
